I can sri guru granth sahib ji with english translations on srigranth.org through my laptop, iphone, xbox but i was wondering if it was okay, i mean, do i have to be sitting up right with crossed legs and wash my hands before i start reading or can i just do it while I'm in the car or do it whenever when i have time? How strict do i have to be when I'm reading guru ji? Thank you

Dear Sad sangat ji, My Mother is in hospital she had total knee replacement of right leg and which got infected not sure doctors mistake or whos? But doctor performed second surgery and cleaned up her knee after which she had untolerable pain for 2 days and was in ICU for 3 days now finally relifed and shifted to rehab center in california. She is healing but doctor is suspecting she still have infection of some bactera which they cant identify (they also suspect could be MRSA in blood) Doctor is afraid that infection dont spread out to bone. VJKK VJKF Sat sangat jeee. I had a question regarding the tightening of the dastaar. I had asked this question in various locations before. One of my friends who is very well educated about sikhi told me I should try and wear the style of the akali's. I asked them if there dastaars would come loose and he told the key to why there dastaars would not come off in the war times is because of all the shastar they had in there dastaar. I dont really have any shastar so is there any other style that gives a tight dastaar that will not come without shastar. P.S. Hi sangat ji, I will keep this short, I was really tired yesterday and I sat on my sofa about 8pm and I fell asleep, I woke up at amrit vela at 5am, so I didn't do kirtain sohila, i wasn't planning on going sleep when I did, but I was tired so fell alseep . I was going to do it when I woke up at amrit vela but wasn't sure so had ishnan and did my nitnem, I feel bad now as I can't believe I fell asleep when I did and for that long, what should I do, I was going to do two kirtain sohila night to compensate for missing it yesterday followed by ardas for forgiveness, what do you think sangat ji

But I noticed that when I hear Saakhi's about the Guru's and sometimes when I read translations of gurbani or while listening to kirtan.. that I feel like crying. I asked a giani ji why this happened and he said that I am not far along on my path and I don't have enough kamaai to have bairaag...? WJKK WJKF, Sangat, I have a issue that I am concerned about. I want to start wearing a dumalla to gurdwara as I am beginning to wear a dumalla since I am taking amrit in the upcoming months. I was wondering if sangat at my gurdwara will make remarks at me and should I just avoid their remarks as I am taking my Sikhi seriously and following every hukam before taking amrit. None of teenagers my age come to gurdwara or they still wear a patka and more than half the Sikhs don't follow the true teachings of Sikhi. I am willing to wear a dumalla. So should I just start wearing a dumalla without caring what sangat at my gurdwara says?

Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
