Craving Alcohol

I used to be a mona sikh. I used to go clubbing and drinking a couple of times a month, however I never drank at home, I only used to drink if I was going to a club. I always had a belief in Sikhi. Whenever I hit a tough time in my life I would go to the gurdwara more often and pray to god. When times were good I would stop going to the gurdwara and question if god exists. I was off work for nearly two years due to an injury that was difficult to diagnose. During those two years I hit many lows, got depressed and wondered if I would ever get better. One day I was so low that I bowed in front of the SGGS and told god that I would stop drinking if he made me better. Grad…

Do You Sleep Bareheaded?
by Guest Curious- 9 replies

I've been wearing a pagh for a couple of years now. Do most Singhs sleep bareheaded or do they wear a head covering of some sort? I'm not a gursikh, I trim my beard and was just wondering what most people do.

Hello dear friends! My name is Paul, i`m from Russia. I do my research on Yogi Bhajan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harbhajan_Singh_Yogi ) and would like to hear from authentic sikhs their opinion on this man and the legend behind him. So may I just put some questions here: 1. Is there any real parampara, is there any chance to know not from 3ho books about Sant Hazara Singh or any other teacher that Yogi Bhajan claim to have 2. Karam Kriya (numerology), SatNam Rasayan (healing) and white tantra are invented by Yogi Bhajan? 3. Is it possible to get such name Siri Singh Sahib is sikh tradition? 4. Are sikhs ok with sikhism as taught by Yogi Bhajan? (mantras, yoga, 3h…

Struggling For Veggie Food Whilst Working And Being Skinny
by Guest Rajsingh 22- 7 replies
- 1.2k views
I am posting this topic to get advice and to see if their are sangat out there in the same boat as me and what they do as a result: I am a vegetarian, and very skinny for my age. This is always the topic of issue with my family and friends who always talk about me being skinny and keep saying "don't you eat any food" and similar comments. Nearly all the people who make these comments to me, do themselves eat full on meat. The added disadvantage for me is that in the job which I do, it is very hard to find veggie food from shops. When I do find some veggie food, it is English veggie food which is not filling whatsoever. I can't take food from home and have to eat out du…

Under The Spell Of Addiction
by Guest Guest- 3 replies
- 1.1k views
My Addiction took over and destroyed every part of my life. I was just any ordinary young Sikh guy that wanted to do so much in life. But I also just wanted the simple things that most take for granted. Ie going to college, friendships a job ect. You would think it would be easy to get the above and most people have the above without batting an eye lid. But when you are under the spell of an addiction you cannot form any relationships with people. You cannot connect with anyone. As your mind, body and soul only longs for the addictive substance and nothing else. Everything else did not matter to me. The important things in life are put to one side. And my mind was tota…

Taking Amrit Again In Life
by Guest amritnaam- 2 replies

WJKK WJKF Daas took amrit recently, and I can't explain what a great experience it was. I just keep thinking about it over and over again and I wish I had took time to enjoy it more rather being nervous :stupidme: Just wondering if we DON'T commit one of the bujjer kureihts can we take amrit again in the future to basically "renew" our amrit or perhaps you did other things against rehat maryada but not bujjer kureihts. So there would be no Tankha, but just take amrit again? Not asking about Pesh for Bujjer Kureihts, I am asking about simply "renewing our amrit", is this allowed? Bhul Chuk Maaf

WJKK WJKF I am 24 years old I am living with my parents and the parents are not very religious people. I have been wearing all my 5k's for sometime now, but my parents won't let me take amrit, yet I am already wearing all the kakars (including kirpan). I don't want to disrespect my parents but I am not sure what to do... Even if I take the amrit how will they know as I am already wearing my kakars? They said just keep doing what you are doing but don't take amrit... Should I just take amrit as we are having a sanchar in my area soon, or should I wait? I feel like guru ji is holding my hand but my parents want me to break that tie to the guru... Kalyug! Thank you for any…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. I was wondering if anyone can help me, I'm married and am expecting our first babies in October, we're having twins, a boy and a girl. I've been raised as a Sikh but unfortunately am not in touch with any of the older members of my family anymore. My problem is that with the babies coming I want to follow all the correct procedures for welcoming them into this world. I want them to start life in the path to Sikhi as soon as they're born. Only issue being I don't quite know what the procedures are and there's really no one that I can ask. :D I know we don't go out of the house for 40 days or something and I know I have to ta…
