When should Amrit be taken?
by Guest Guest- 1 reply

Waheguru Ji Ki Khalsa. Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I’m planning to are Amrit and I was womdering how long I should wait to take Amrit. Currently I have learned to read Gurmukhi and I do all my 7 banis. I am also practicing to tie a dastar. My hair is only 7 inches and I use a hair extension to make it longer, are hair extensions are allowed in Sikhi? I have not started to practice wearing my 5 Ks yet. I do not eat meat or eggs. Also, does a Amrit Sanchar have to happen on vaisakhi or any day? If it can happen on any day how would you sign up for it or what would you do?

After reading the Khalsa aid post it made me remember that I donated a fairly large sum to the building of a place where people who are groomed or families can go to Birmingham. I did call sikh channel for more information shortly after as I hadn’t heard anything but no one got back to me. does anyone know if the money was spent properly ?

Attachment to Community?
by Guest Guest Singh- 2 replies

Wjkk wjkf If I feel a sense of belongingness towards my motherland, would that be 'attachment' if viewed through the lens of Sikhi, because Guru Gobind Singh ji told us to recognise the entire human race as one? Many (not all) Sikhs speak up for Punjab only but not for the people of other states where people are facing some or the other sort of injustice. The way Muslims are being targeted in India these days , even to the extent of trying to force them to convert, is shameful, yet I do not see any brother or sister taking a stand for them. [Diaspora Sikh readers may think whether they are doing enough for their respective countries' non-Sikhs.] We sure do langa…

Some Help And Advice Please!

I would like to get some opinions on the situation I am in, I have been in a relationship for 3 years, we are both sikh and our families are happy for us to get married even though we are not the same caste. the issue I have is that he is the only son, and his father died. therefore, the responsibility of his mother, bibi and two sisters falls to him. i know i will probably come across as an awful person, but after we are married i do not want to live with his family, i don't mind if we live round the corner, or even two doors away, but i want to have my own house. maybe i am too modern or westernised, but he says that after his sisters are married and his mother is al…

Finding a Singh for Marriage
by Guest Guest Kaur- 0 replies

VJKK, VJKF! With Waheguru Ji's kirpa I have been blessed with Amrit recently. I am getting used to the change in my life so far and it's been a great journey, however, I am starting to feel the pressures of marriage. I just turned 25 years old and my family is saying I should start looking now before it's too late, but whenever someone from Sangat introduces me to another Singh, the topic of kes comes up. They want me to break my rehat and shave before marriage. This is something I am not willing to do and never will do, but the pressures of marriage and finding the right life partner is becoming hard. My whole family is not devoted to Sikhi, just a few of us, so it'…

Meaning of Vaisakhi
by Guest Preet- 0 replies
Wjkk wjkf, I am curios to understand what does Vaisakhi mean to those that are not Amrithdhari/have cut their hair/don't exactly identify as Khalsa per say. This question stems from my understanding of Vaisakhi which is basically the birth of the Khalsa. And while many identify as Sikh, not all Sikhs are part of the Khalsa (do note that many have subjective views as to how they identify with being Sikh).
