  4. i would think it means, treat hositilty with humility obviously if some1 is beating u to a bloody pulp, u defend urself but the concept is, be humble, hitting back, is almost always in pride i remember reading about a singh from bhai sahib randhirs singhs times, he was at a train station, and he was lost in samadhi, so was rooted to one spot for several minutes. when a condunctor came, he said you are holding up a que, get out of the way, because the singh was in samadhi he didnt hear the conductor. the conductor then slapped the singh, the singh came out of samadhi and apologised to the conductor, (i think he touched his feet, cant remember)

  6. How can I when you keep bringing other things into the discussion, which I need you to clarify further? Look, at the end of the day, nothing personal, but I just can't help laughing. <_< For the record, not once did I ever tell you whether I celebrate Christmas or not. I did it like that on purpose. for the record did i ask you if you celebrated it? i asked why celebrate it period! (if you sikh) so just answer the question, why should sikhs celebrate christmas. and all said was that its pointless for us to celebrate it from the very beginning number one. about jesus sayin turn the other cheek this is what gurbani says PrIdw jo qY mwrin mukIAW iqn@w n mwry GuMim ] fureedhaa jo thai maaran mukeeaa thinuaa n maarae ghunm Fareed, do not turn around and strike those who strike you with their fists. 7. it matters to the sikh panth and as this is a sikhi forum it matters
  8. basically panchen split from jatha for own politiacal reasons
  9. No one can pronounce baani as written. How do you know that the first two alphabets are to be pronounced as "Ik Oankaar" and not something else? Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee has written in his book that bindi (nasal sound) is a must for shudh uchaaran. Please read "Gurbani diyaan laga maatra dee vilakhanta" and you will see how Bhai Sahib has advised us to use nasal sound. As for sh and z sounds, I have explained this in the Jap jee Sahib thread on our site. There are 35 alphabets but far more sounds. In Punjabi that we learn today there are up to 42 alphatets to accomodate for more sounds but in Gurmukhi there are only 35 sounds. Many alphabets have more than one sound e.g. jajja and zazza, sassa and shasha, kakka and qaqqa, fafa and phapha etc.
  10. hahaha if you insist the best thing is to prepare your own food, and do naam simran, gurbani abyaas whilst doing this i dont think that by a muslim doing prayers over food and you consuming it, will make it a bujjar kurehit. and as for the polo business, just have food that you prepare yourself, not sweets/chocolates etc.

  13. Men shouldn't do a lot of things, G-money. I believe it goes back to intent and why you do certain things. Some people are just too hostile to give certain views a chance and those are the ones you want to watch out for. Let them huff and puff. Sooner or later, they will self implode. yup no jewerly please
  14. yes jss, we know nothing, please enlighten us with your higher knowledge what does this line actually mean? of course you are always right and we are always wrong huna? if only we had the massive understanding u have
  15. so nything tht is 4 show is jewerly? a shastar is a shastar just like if i use a screw driver to stab some1 with, it doesnt turn the screw driver in2 a knife does it? jus cos u change the purpose dont change the thing. your not making any sense there.. in re: to emiJeha... i know what you're saying.. its jus some people are very narrowminded and think because they don't feel sumthin as bein a good thing, then its automatically wrong and against sikhi... its funny how people pick and choose things that are okay and things that aren't, only to suit their own needs... i'm done wit this now... Bless! no its not to suit my own needs my needs have nothing to do with wearing jewerly you have yet to prove to me that jewrly is fine in sikhi im not picking and choosing anything funny how youre just making random stuff up now. you talk about people wearing shasters to show off and look good as wrong but u find nothing wrong in wearing jewerly? isnt that peculiar.
  16. AKJ believe keski as Kakkar because all women and men should keep their hair covered at all time. Namastang bro think about it kakkars are materials, and hair is naturally given by guru sahib and come into the 4 kurehita. I don't think its acceptable bibia wearing patka or chunnia because guru sahib says: Khalsa Mero Roop has Kaas. Its hard to Differentiate a bibi wearing a patka or chunni with a muslim women. Where as a Babi wearing a dastar, you can tell straight away she is a singni of Guru Gobing Singh Guru Gobind Singh tied a dastar on Mata Bhago jee, even though she reached brahmgyani stage. Even Bibia before Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Jee existed wore dastars, please read this article below posted on win. "vahegurooo je ka khalsa vahegurooo je ke fateh! Nothing much related to taksal, but some intresting facts about our history and rehit. 1. I meet my nana jee's Sister who is 80++ years old sometime ago. Once, I saw an old picture on my mata jee's Grandmother(paternal), she was wearing a keske .So, I asked my nana jee's sister , about her mother wearing a keeske. She confirmed that in our family keske rehit was kept. She said: " Many people didn't use to take amrit, only those who were ready to become a Sikh(with strong commitment) took amrit. Amrit sanchars were also not very common in those days, so those who got amrit dee daat weren't in a big number. In those days, many Amritdhari bibian use to do their Joora and tie it on top of their head and tie a choti dastar(keske) and then wear a dupatta .When I was a child, all of our family members use to live together back in our home(kothi) in our village. My Grand mother( guruvah's great great grand mother), my mother(guruvah's great grandmother) and all of my 3 sisters use to keep a choti dastar.Eventho, I and my 2 other sisters were not amritdhari's we still use do our joora on top of our head because our mother and grandmother did so. When I and my sisters use to go to the town, many people would make fun us by calling us Jorey Walea." I also asked her: " Was our family by anyway associated with Akhand Keertani Jatha?" She said: "What group is that?" I replied: " I was refering by Bhai Randhir Singh Narangwal wale and his companions" She said: " Oh...you mean by RANDHIRIS? No, not at all. We use to go to Baba nand Singh's sangat(nanaksar)" Take note : That my great great grandmother and great grandmother were born before 1900's, this was before AKJ came into existance. So this rehit wasn't actually invented by akj as many people "claim". All 3 generations living under one roof, kept keski rehit.Eventho, my nani ji and her sisters weren't amritdhare's. so, how come the dastar started to DIS-APPEAR from our bibian's head? Point I am making AKJ's did'nt start this tradition of keski, its been going on since the time of guru gobind singh jee Issue on Raagmala, not only akj's don't read, but other gursikhs don't. Read Gyani Gurdit Jee's book. Also their is a gurdwhara in Sweden that don't read raag mala at the end of bhogs and keep sarbloh langer. Also at every Akal Takht amrit sanchar, bibia had to wear a keksi, but when Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir became jathedar this rehit was abolished. The reason is because less bibia attended because they would have to wear a keski, wear as when kesh was made kakkar more bibia came. Again its not just AKJ'S!! I can't answer this question because I am not a professional scholar on gurbani, but please appreciate the works of Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara, he took a lot of time out and showing human errors is guru sahib jee saroops. AKJ's are not against katha at all, they believe gurbani is the highest form of katha and you can really go wrong! hir kIAw kQw khwxIAw myry ipAwry siqgurU suxweIAw ] har keeaa kuthaa kehaaneeaa maerae piaarae sathiguroo sunaaeeaa The True Guru has preached the sermon of the Lord, O my dear beloved. hir kI kQw ird mwih bsweI ] har kee kuthaa ridh maahi busaaee Enshrine the Lord's Sermon within your heart, mn bWCq sgly Pl pweI ]2] mun baashuth sugulae ful paaee and you shall obtain all the desires of your mind. ||2|| har kee kuthaa hirudhai busaavai He implants the Sermon of the Lord in his heart. har keeaa kuthaa kehaaneeaa maerae piaarae sathiguroo sunaaeeaa The True Guru has preached the sermon of the Lord, O my dear beloved. Which clearly shows gurbani is the true katha, because it has no mistakes. Any human being can make mistakes when doing katha. Gurbani is the true katha!! - Taksal emphasize on learning different languages so that students can read and understand sri dasam granth and other spiritual school of thoughts. I dont know about mehta but bhindrankalan this was heavily emphasized looking at the fact taksal has nirmale influence ie- before sant gurbachan singh bhindranwale jathedars. This is hardly found in akj, but looking at the efforts of bhai kulbir singh from tapoban, hopefully this will not be the case in future. There are many gursikhs from the jatha who have knowlege of different languages. Again Taksal is a school for learming gurbani and akj has totally a different motives. The jatha was started by a group of gursikhs who were close and done day and night simran and gurbany abyyaiaas. Who performed lots of akand paaths and keeran progs. Who are strict on rehit. Yes Krishna, jesus and mohammed did all fail. They were all given limited power by good. They did'nt have the divine virtues and all had haumai!! Satguroo Nanak is the only giver of naam and was present throughout the 4 ages. chaarae jaagae chuhu jugee punchaaein aapae hoaa The four Gurus enlightened the four ages; the Lord Himself assumed the fifth form. The jatha has many gursikhs who are true sants, but they don't label them with the title sant. The reason is that gursikh lebelled with sant could get haumai, and fall heavily on this path which is very hard. Great gursikh like Bhai Swarn singh is a example of sant, who did a whole akhand paath on himself, but he still fell on this path. Also great gursikhs were called: Baba Deep Singh, Bhai Mani Singh, Baba Budha Jee and Bhai Gurdas Jee Also the true sant label goes to guru granth sahib jee, and jathedar of AKJ are always change!! The jatha yes does believe is naam dhrid, which is blessed by punj pyare in the form of guru gobind singh jee. Other gursikhs like Sant Attar Singhh Jee were blessed with this technique as well. The jatha does believe as well as jaaping naam, gurbani abyiaas should be immence at the same time. Akj and Taksal are very close, the gursikhs have a lot of pyaar towards each other and love each other. Bhai Randhir Singh and Baba Gurbachan Singh jee loved each other as well, so start comparing!! I am posting this to show that the remarks namastang has made are not just perfomed by jatha, but also other gursikhs and jatha share the same throughts. Sorry if i offended anybody. VaahegurooJeeKhaalsaa, VaahegurooJeeKeeFaateh!! thats it for now. fantastic post
  17. so nything tht is 4 show is jewerly? a shastar is a shastar just like if i use a screw driver to stab some1 with, it doesnt turn the screw driver in2 a knife does it? jus cos u change the purpose dont change the thing.
  18. no the shastar is designed for the adornment of the dastaar whats wrong with a khalsa wanting to look smart with damala and shastar? no, shastars cannot show some1 how religious u are, yes jewerly became 2 b a social/religous rank, not shasters.
  19. nice post, altho not really answering anything no, we should most defiantely not "judge" anyone for what they are wearing, whether it be jewelry or not. but that doesnt mean that we cant say whether or not jewelry has a place in sikhi no i disagree, khalsa is distinct and as such has a distinct uniform i still havent found a reason for wearing jewerly why?
  20. "Objects designed for the adornment of the body, usually made of gold, silver, or platinum, often with precious or semiprecious stones and such organic substances as pearls, coral, and amber. Jewelry evolved from shells, animal teeth, and other objects used as adornment in prehistoric times. Over the centuries it came to be a sign of social or religious rank. In Renaissance Italy, jewelry making reached the status of a fine art; many Italian sculptors trained as goldsmiths. From the 17th century the decorative function of jewelry again came to the fore, overshadowing its symbolic significance. By the 19th century, industrialization brought jewelry within the reach of the middle class. Firms opened by jewelers such as Carl Fabergé and Louis Comfort Tiffany achieved great success by making fine jewelry for the wealthy." wearing shastars for looks will giv u ego, tht doesnt turn the shasters into jewerly tho im talkin about singhnia because thts wat the topic was if some1 gets it u as a gift, just dont wear it
  21. a dastaar and shasters can in no way be compared to jewelry they both have a purpose and the rest of what you are saying hasnt answered my question no, its not what you feel, what you think/feel isnt important, what the guru says is important jewelry is a waste of money a singhni of the khalsa has no need to wear jewerly. we should only dress to please our guru, not to please the public, how does wearing jewelry please our guru? it is just show for the public
