  6. If your a brahmgiani and you see God in any other person or living thing, then by all means mathatek. But if your the average person like me... just do what you think is right.. B)

  9. Some people have faith, others don't. A story from Bhai Parminder Singh Ji's Katha: There was a lady who used to visit a Hindu Priest on a regular, and daily basis. One day the Hindu Priest tells the lady "if you believe in God, you can do anything, you can walk on water." He said it even though he didn't believe in it himself. The lady who had complete faith, completely started to believe this. When going home that day, she always used to go around the lake to go home, but this time she decided to walk across the water. She took one step, did not drown. She took another step, and did not drown. Likewise, she made it across the whole river. Every time when she would go to meet the priest, she would always cross the water by walking over it. One day she wanted to give langar to the Hindu priest, so she decided to take him home. He then followed her and she was walking over the lake. He said to her "are you out of your mind? what are you doing.. you cant cross over water" She then crossed it. And he started thinking she is just starting to becoming religious, but i have studied the scriptures for years and what not. So he took one step into the water, and drowned. As Bhai Parminder Singh puts it: Most Gursikhs are doing everything from the outside, but from the inside, they are still khali dey khali. May God show us the truth path and give us true faith.
  10. Actually, Waterloo is not the best university in Canada, it is only ranked the best for engineering. The University of Toronto is ranked number one for its medical programs. As a matter of fact, The University of Toronto is one of the best universities in the world. It's number 21 on the world's list out of 500. UBC is also one of the best. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source: Maclean's, 2003 "Medical Doctoral: Universities with a broad range of PhD programs and research, as well as medical schools." Rank University 1 University of Toronto 2 McGill University 3 Queen's University 3 University of Western Ontario 5 University of British Columbia 6 University of Alberta 7 University of Montreal 8 Université de Sherbrooke 9 University of Saskatchewan 10 Université Laval
  11. if you wrote the above, i'd have to say its great!
  12. a taksaal was created by Guru Gobind Singh Ji as an instiituition of learning. As per the akhand keertani jatha, they are a bunch of singhs and singhnees alike, who gather and do kirtan.. Jathas are alright, some are cool - just my take Above all, everyone will say they are sikh/khalsa before saying they are from such a such a jatha..
  13. One of my teachers is an atheist. He thinks Sikhism is the kindest and most common "sensical" religion.
  14. not to sound mean or anything... don't you mean scroll up? In the literal sense, i thought you were referring to individuals putting their heads up :T: bhul chuk maaf
  15. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! If this kind of worship can be avoided, then try to avoid it. Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our present Guru, and we can bow down to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. On another note, what 'anon' said seemed correct. If you see God in it, then by all means, mathetek. Brahmgianis are capable of seeing God in people. They won't see a normal human being, they'll see God. Since God is everywhere and perhaps in that statue, and if you see God in it, then mathetek. If you don't, then don't. It's all based on belief...
  16. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I agree with MKhalsa.
  17. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Charanjit Singh, Parminder Singh and Reena Kaur were all gursikhs. They knew that they were going to die, as I have heard. May God bless them dhan guru dhan guru pyarai
