  1. '' dear veerjee ,dont worry , i got a feeling jassika going create a 10 or 20 mile no smoking n drinking zone around her wedding site and me telepathy tells me she wants make u jathedar of a nice khalsa fauj to guard the zone and nikname you as sri singh sahib tigersoulja singh hahaa
  2. and o dint have wedding outdoors but umm always luvv countryside and fantasise and dream of doing all kinds of things outdoors . just spend most of tuesday with a norwegian and american(both really getting close to sikhi) in the marsh and wet lands of a coastal village-town in UK called portishead .walking along the beach ,doing simran and watching wild rabbits ,marsh land and oceonic birds and their sounds and then sat right on the edge of the atlantic oceon nd dipped me feet in that salty oceon water .lush that was .

  4. A white american lady i had through Guru kirpa been introducing Sikhi moved to Oxford to do her phd at oxford uni 2 years ago .i managed to persuade her to look for a gurudwara and attend satsang and langar there so she could get involved and close to sikhs there to help her get closer to sikhi . soon afters she found some sangat gather in the house of a sikh woman there every sunday and started to attend . one day she witnessed a 'horrible scene ' on a sunday diwan in that make shift 'gurudwara' in oxford . likewise as in milton keynes a group of full bana ,kesh etc young sikhs stormed the diwan out of the blue and in full view of the sangat stopped the satsang ,took away Guru Granth Sahib ,etc etc etc . of cos i can guess the reasons would be that parkash in a house lends itself to beadbi and the rest . however the manner in which this was done traumatised this newbie lady on the verge of conversion to sikhi . it sounded horrific . i later learned that as there was no gurudwara in oxford some local people/sikh housewives rallied together and just used satsang in the ground floor flat of one of the sangatees out of sharda and pyaar . In their simplicityand innocence , they were not aware/hadnt thought out intelligently various beadbi issues this can give rise too . till this day i wonder ,whether such unmeasured use of force was ever necessary . when those sikhs who stormed the place had learned of this situation ,all that was needed was to have approached some of the sangat during the week ,sat down ,talked to the sangat members over some tea ,made them aware this isnt a good idea have satsang in that house ,and helped worked out alternative options so satsangs could carry on somehow somewhere without danger of beadbi . instead the manner it happened frightened ,traumatised and created a bad impression that sikhs are are a violent race . it took me a 'million' further chats with this american lady to assure her it was all cool ,somehow defend what happened and sustain her interest in Sikhi . however till this day she will not be persuaded to go back anywhere near any sangat there wherever they may be gathering now as she fears a repeat . when i was a child ,my father -sikh but uneducated used to use his hand and beat me up over every thing i did wrong ,no reasoning given . but i grew up to realise that good reasoning, ,diplomacy, coupled with a tongue trained in vocab and logic and expressiveness can be very very lethal and hurt even more than your hand, except in a moghul era situation or where a mugger or schizenophranic is pulling out a knife . Sikhi is not about brutal force used unmeasured . Sikhi is about measured restraint and thoughtfulness in working out solutions that help save face , show a person where they are wrong , help them correct themselves and the ability to sit ,negotiate ,talk ,reason out and work out the right way forward . in a democratic society we also have many other means we can pursue including legal redress, engaging the police , alerting authorities ,putting pressure on politicians, etc etc ,various social ,political and legal institutions we need to learn to tap . we mustnt also forget that as a minority most of us also are connected to each other through all sorts of family and extended relationships . this is a social structure that can be utilised constructively to sort out differences and communicate and negotiate.
  5. Satguru is with His Sikhs wherever they are. Gurbani says''so satgur piara mere naal heh, jithe kithe mehnu leh chedai'. We quarrel about physical spaces, which one is more sacred, whether Gurdarbar should be in an inner city Gurudwara or set up in countryside surroundings. We live in fear of sanctity being desecreted. We argue whether we should go to Gurujee or Gurujee come to us. We accuse each other of making Gurujee travel for our sake and bend around for oursake . We behave as quarrellsome kids of a loving Dad each one claiming he/she knows whats best. However we forget that Gurujee is far mightier than our quarrels. All spaces belong to Gurujee . As we become reborn as Gurujee's children, our very hearts become thrones where Gurujee resides. Every proper true Sikh is a walking talking mobile Gurudwara. For Gurujee far more important than a make shift tent or a permanent solid structure ,far more important than a wedding or funeral is our true Sikhi love for one another . Thats what puts a smile on Gurujee's face, not our constant bickering over issues big and small . Our love for one another is the purest ,most sacred respect we can give our Dad . The most unholiest thing is when we stop getting excited and passionate about one another and are quick to kill joy every new idea, every new suggestion that springs in the minds of any one of us, accusing and getting suspicious of each other as being egoistic or selfish or using Dad. We can engage in an eternal guessing game as to whether Gurujee prefers to be visited in an inner city Gurudwara of smelly(haha) Southall or birmingham or manchester for blessings, or needs a break and would rather order Jassika to set up a make shift Gurdarbar tent up on a glacier in Norway, or the top of Mt kilimanjaro, or besides Victoria Falls, one of Austria's ski resorts, or somewhere in australia's blue mountain or besides Lake Varern in sweden or cameron highlands in malaysia or ben nevis in scotland or Yellowstone park in USA . And out of this guesing game we can invent a million more computer simulated guessing games ,as to whether Jassika is using Gurujee or if indeed Gurujee is secretly using her oblivious to her knowledge!!!!! whether this an ego trip on her part, reflecting her utter foolishness and disrespect ,lack of consideration for protocal , and sheer stupidity ,or ,whether indeed this is one massive brilliant ,creative ,imaginative, intelligent, forward thinking radical ,revolutionary Guru inspired idea because Gurujee himself has decided that as He is unpredictable ,this time around he wants to break his normal pattern and go bless Jassika's wedding besides a waterfall in Breacon Beacons in Wales!!!!!! We could also start turning theological and start debating whether Jassika is intelligent enuff to have worked out her wedding plan herself or whether it was an idea planted in her brain by an aunt who happens to live in Calgary or perhaps her Ethiopian boss at work or whether Gurujee himself turned on the lights in her brain and gave her a vision of this during Raehraas when she somehow managed to shut her eyes for 2 secs . and we can churn this like milk n lassi again and again and again .perhaps this ''great debate '' about Jasika's wedding to be made into a permanent thread on this website . or we could make Jassica's facebook beat the guiness book of records by continuing this debate there and debating on her wedding site for years to come even after she dies!!!!! and we could end up in a big bust up whether it does matter or not . At the end of the day ,let us daily pray that all our words ,thoughts and deeds ,our ideas and suggestions, though they may break all norms of predictable social and religous behaviour are not propelling out of our little selfish manmatia minds ,but inspired, ordered and radiating from the hukum and happiness of Gurujee whose as Bhai Nand Lal says 'dogs/puppies' we are. '' Hukum rejai chelna Nanak likhia naal'' The answer to that Jassika knows. or, does she? -whether
  6. i run a business. when i have the wrong people as either staff or customers, i dont use violence, i sit and negotiate ,warn, reprimand or sack .it works ,projects me as a peaceful ,reasonable ,communicative, well reasoning , logical person, it safeguards the business im trying to protect and creates respect for both me and the business.

  9. beautiful !!! so so from the heart, reminds me of the simplicity and purity of sikhi love i used feel wen i was growing up in 60s n 70s lets bring sum of that back today !!!!!
  10. my dearest veer manbir , vah vah vah vah vah you must be one of the luckiest man on this earth to have a wife, personally hand picked by Gurujee to perform such beautiful kirtan! Your home must be as bhai gurdas says ''ghar ghar andar dharamsal, hoe kirtan seda vesoa''. I am getting a mental visualisation of your home whereby you ,wife and daughter are sitting together at amritvela and sandiavela doing kirtan lovingly to Gurujee!!!!! i been doing kirtan for the past 34 years, hence my words flow from my lifelong understanding of raags etc through Gurujee's kirpa. normally i can be very critical haha .but i have been listening to every single track and i love it. i can recognise immediately the effort, talent ,creativity and knowledge that has gone into this . may Gurujee keep this jetha united ,make it grow even more, and go higher and higher in chardi kela. Once i was supposed to do kirtan at a satsang. As i metha tekhed before Shree Guru Granth Sahib Jee, suddenly i realised that all my lifelong acquired knowledge of sangeet was nothing and peanuts in the presence of Gurujee's awesome majestic presence. I just lay lifeless in the presence of our Master crying helplessly like a little baby. I felt so small ,so useless ,just felt like a little puppy, a slave in Gurujee's presence, i culdnt utter a word ,my voice was trapped in my voice box.the jetha doing kirtan continued whilst waiting for me . Then suddenly i felt a bolt of lighning from the presence of SHRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB MAHARAJ PITA JEE. Gurujee's power quickened in me,took me by force and made me get up and rush to the kirtan stage. The other gursikh veers on stage realised i was approaching and ready and made space for me at the main harmonium. As i sat down ,suddenly everything i had planned to sing just went out of the window. I felt THE FORCE was with me and within me and was in control ,not me. My fingers started playing a tune i had not planned. I normally love to start with a manglacharan of Mulmantar at ambient speed to slowly build up the kirtan speed but this time THE FORCE made me start with the fastest akj style techno tune of Gurmantar jaap, that , then breaking up into other tunes as our jetha went along. I decided to let go and cry and smile and let the kirtan be a holy river taking me with itself to wash and worship at the lotus feet of Gurujee. This was the day i realised how Gurujee can use all our knowledge, if we surrender to Him to help us sing kirtan beyond our wildest dream ,taking everything we know and churning it into something far far more beautiful than within our ability. Truly you ,wife and daughter are jewels created by Gurujee to bless and beautify the panth . Its my great fortune to witness such beautiful keertan done by yourselves in this lifetime. I was listening to your keertan and let it haunt my soul as i was writing this reply!
  11. jujhar singh asked ''what if they came in human form though? would you accept them as Guru Nanak Sahib? '' Guru Nanak Sahib is in fact on earth. has always been .shall always be. Gurbani says''nicha andar nicha jaat ,nichi hu ath nich ,Nanak tin keh sang saath, vedhea seo ka rees''. i.e '' I reside and am with the lowliest of the low''. Once, in the area i live in UK, a friend who is a social worker took me to the house of a man who was not even a sikh. this was an old man who had been abandoned by his family, had no job, survived on benefits, had no friends, no religion ,couldnt cook ,lived off takeaway chips, was in poor health physically and mentally, all by himself visited just ocassionally by a social worker. as i entered his one bedroom sit, there was a bad smell ,clothes strewn everywhere and total untidiness. this was the worst possible state a human being could fall in. but suddenly i noticed lo and behold, a huge calender on his wall with a huge picture of Guru Nanak Sahib, smiling lovingly. now i dont believe in such pictures but for that one moment i remembered those lines i quoted earlier and suddenly i felt Gurujee's voice reminding me that He is always with the poorest of the poor, and that through mysterious circumstances that picture was on the wall of this non -sikh symbolically to indicate Guru Jee's comforting presence in the hut of this abandoned poor man. This poor old man used to wander around the streets of my city in UK with a huge 1st generation cassette player. So one day i gave him a collection of kirtan cassettes as a gift. From that day he would wander around with kirtan pumping out from his cassette player all hours of the day and night. And those who love Gurujee, Gurujee actually jumps 'in' to reside in the heart. Gurbani says '' antar gur aradhana''. Gurbani says '' satgur jagda heh deo'' i.e Satguru is always awake and alive. Gurbani says ''You are always present but i think of (You) as absent''. We in our ignorance postulate the physical remanifestation of Guru Nanak because of our attachment and trust in the physical . But Sikhi opens our eyes to the metaphysical, and in fact enlightens us to the limitations and illusion of the physical and gives us access to the invisible Real . What we see is the form ,but sikhi enlightens us to the veiled substance. As gurbani says all we see is a poor hut of a man and pity him with our physical eyes, but that man maybe a great chanter and lover of God's name and in the unseen realm such a man is ''raja srist ka'' i.e king of the whole universe. When our eyes 'open', we realise that Guru Nanak Sahib is everywhere ,in every heart ,manifestated as shabad in GURU GRANTH SAHIB and residing with the lowliest of the low ever so actively .Thats when our questions and curiosity caease and rather, the greatest of holy joy swells up in our being .
  12. awesome! brilliant! exhilirating! uplifting! beautiful! these are the words bursting in my mind as i listened to these tracks! please can you share the inspiring story of this jetha-where based/what inspired each of you/how did you get together/ since when you started/ how you got these recordings done/ your tour plans performing good quality kirtan like this requires a few different skills to come together and a lot of dedication, drive and determination. love how your different voices are used solo at times and melt into one another ,another times in a unified chorus. you have packed lots raag and varied taals too to create diversity.excellent voice control and pronunciation as well as use of alaaps, taans and rehaos. may Gurujee bless you more n more n more n more!!! may be you can let go more during your kirtan and go even more wilder! more unpredictable! more chaotic! more ecstatic! more repeat and emphasis on individual words and phrases in a shabad that jump at you, so its less of a performance and presentation but more of a cry from the heart. gurbani is nectar and we the bees sucking on it, so kirtan can be very interactive, sounding like a bee fussing over 1 flower buzzing crazily as it sucks more and more nectar out and gets filled up .kirtan is akin to a drunk man getting more and more high from alcohol i.e as you do kirtan you get more and more drunk with Naam ras, reflecting itself in the kirtan you are doing, sounding more and more celestial ,more intoxicating, stretching your emotions ,imagination and communication thread of contact with God to the max till it breaks and you find yourself in heaven whilst your physical body is still playing the harmonium! overall, this is fantastic kirtan! top notch !
  13. i suppose a lot of humble effort has gone into this as remixing is not simple but requires a lot of knowledge, expensive equipment , resource materials and creativity and talent, apart from creating master tapes and knowledge of graphic design as well ,plus enthusiasm and goals to achieve. all this, as humble sewa with not much, or no material gains as its sewa for panth. hence i admire you guys for all your efforts. i have listened to the samples and they are brilliant and awesome and inspiring. you have arranged each track maturely without too much clutter underlined by cleverly chosen beats with varying speeds. good little vocal introductions too and well layered. this is one neat piece of music you have produced with a strong message. a good tribute to 25th year. im proud of you guys. maybe you could have more ragae/dub setting for some of your future tracks and even liquid d n b ,apart from hip hop. another idea is to create more non vocal space within each track to weave in some electronic experimental music samples which u can pick up from websites like electro-music.com and stillstream.com.some fiddle music samples could go in handy too in harmony with the dhad tunes. overall i must say your music has matured over the years and has tremendous flavour with professionalism in it. Incorporating lines from Dasam Granth, especially with yakka sounding tal, set in fast tempered techno in at least 1 track will satisfy the cravings of those who like it really upbeat haha. i as your gursikh veer am temendously proud to see such excellent ground breaking, barriers shattering, talent among you guys. please dont get disheartened by anyones comments as we do really need you to continue this sewa . can i also plead with those of you who have used swear words in this thread to refrain to do so. anyone is entitled to give opinions but opinions have to come with a sense of responsibility of encouraging and uplifting others, acknowleding other's hard work. let our suggestions come as suggestions not as criticisms or be perceived as outright criticism. those who have put a lot of hard work have every right to feel annoyed when thats how they are made to feel. this is not a forum for open swearing and loose emotions raging from touchy stubborn hearts in a manmukh style of expression . this is a forum for nimarta and pyaar ,sabar and santukh which was and is the hall mark of the radiant personality of Sant Bhindrawale Jee especially towards other sikhs including those he didnt agree with . so to those who produced these awesome tracks, i applaud you for all your hard work and effort and please carry on your excellent Guru given sewa.
  14. no im NOT arshi gyanee jee for sure . I am not even fit to be the dust of the feet of the servants of the servants of blessed gursikhs like him and you. I am just a little insignificant tiny nano worm ,as Gurbani says ''humkire kerem satgur sarnaee ,kar deya naam pargas''
  15. Sikhi is of cos not simple and the path of sikhi is never straightforward . ' khuneo tikhi valo niki et marag jana ' i.e its sharper than the edge of a sword and yet finner than a strand of hair .Sikhi is not a bed of roses .The path of the history of Sikhi is laden with martydoms ,struggles ,sufferings and sacrifices .Naam jepna ,vand shakna ,and kirt di mai karni is more easier said than done . However if we are sincere ,and if we do constant ardas ,then Guru Maharaj has all the power in the world to help us in a million ways ,to carry us ,to lift us up ,to keep us inspired ,even if we end up in a jail like Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh and countless other Sikhs .Guru Jee can help us be in a state of ''sehaj '' or non effortlessness in the midst of effort ,even getting martyred with a smile .Guru Maharaj can make it simple and straightforward for us .Guru Arjan Dev Jee in raag suhi ,pg 742 towards the end says ''anak beeng daas ke prh hrea'' i.e The Lord removes all the crooked stuff(beeng)/shortcomings in the path of his slave . Good habits are hard to form ,bad habits hard to break .It took me a long time to get used to having a cold shower in the UK during winter .Now i only take cold showers in this cold country anytime of the day or night or month effortlessly .Likewise the habit of doing simran in Amritvela ,Nitnem etc etc . When you are constantly moaning ,everything becomes a drag and very difficult .When you stay in chardikela ,then through Guru kirpa everything flows through His Hukum almost effortlessly because now its not the mind doing things but the ''antar gur/spirit of God '' within helping us live a Guru-led life .As long as we stay surrendered to Gurujee in everything we do ,GURU'S POWER and PRESENCE leads us on ,giving us the vision ,the ideas ,the direction and the strength as if we are psychic and endowed with spiderman powers !hahaaaaaaaa . What i was trying to say when i quoted Bhai Nand Lal is that Sikhi is about THE PARTY THAT CAN START IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW!!!! HAHAAAAAAAA ,rightaway!!!!!! This is because Sikhi is about a romance,a relationship ,the best ,most exciting ,inspiring ,ecstasy filled ,awesome ,satisfying ,energising ,romantic juicy ,passionate relationship you can ever have in alllll your life times put together .Sikhi is about fun /romance /play with God .In Sikhi ,your life is filled with celebrations ,congratulations and victory .Gurbani says ''chalh sekhie prabh raven jaha'''' ,i.e Come ,O My mate, let us go to enjoy our Lord! You can enjoy the Lord right now ,in your nitnem ,simran ,keertan ,right now! because God/Guru are here right now alive ,with us inour hearts ,in our home ,in our bedroom. It may someone 50 years to go through translations of Faridkot Teeka or Suraj Parkash but in a 50th of a second ,a person can become a God/Guru chaser and a God/Guru catcher .All you require, is a desire, to aspire, before you expire ! hahahahaaaaa. Its the power of NOW that we need to harness . About 30 years ago ,Sant Singh Maskeen during a katha in Malaysia said one thing i never forgot .He said a Gursikh does not dwell in the past or worry about the future but lives in simran in the present . I remember when me dad died .I had done some simran just before i reached the gurudwara for the bhog ceremony .Omg i was feeling a real high ,and i felt so joyful ,that people thought i was crazy to be not sad .I just kept telling everyone ,dont worry the old boy was suffering in his body and its great he is gone and relieved of old age pains .That was because i loved my dad was not attached to him .Likewise i did not shed a single tear or felt even a pinch of sadness wen my gursikh mum went because minutes after her akal chelana ,i was lying down with eyes closed in simran and a live telecast was being played out in me brains from heaven's computer webcam about what's happening to her soul!!! and it was awesome because as Gurujee says helt sukh ,pelet sukh ,net sukh simrano.'' Hence i say lets start having fun ,with our Beloved ,now ,right now! Bring on the party! lets get intoxicated .Let our simran not be a ritual but intense love making .Let the fun begin!
  16. You must be thinking what on earth am i saying ! by telling you if you cannot go to school ,well you could go to a bar!! hahahahaaaa .You must think i am trying to corrupt you! Let me explain . Bhai Nand Lal( the great saint poet whose exquisite poetry is in persian and punjabi under the pseudonyms of 'Goya' and 'Lal', lived during the time of Guru Gobind Singh Jee and his poetry relating to our Gurus and about Sikhism are considered as treasures of the Sikh Panth , to be even sung in any Sikh gurudwara alongside Gurbani and Bhai Gurdas's vaars and kabitt savaiyes . Bhai Nand Lal in his Gazals(no.12) says Eh dil bsueh madrisah grh mel na dari Bare b-sueh khanae khomar tva gpht i.e O my heart,if you do not have the motive to go to school(madrasah), At least you to go to a bar/place of intoxication(khanaeh khomar) He goes on to say(Ghazal 47) Sakia berkez v a ha pur kun ayag Ta ze nosh ooh konm rangee demag i.e O bartender(waiter) ,please get up and pour me another drink So that, with it my face ,thoughts ,brains /mind(demag) can appear and be drunk/intoxicated Actually Bhai Sahib is unlocking here one of the greatest secrets and realities of Sikhism .Sikhism is not about boredom ,feeling ideal and depressed once we step into Sikhi .Sikhism is not about the art of reciting scriptures so they sound holy and give us psychological satisfaction that we have performed some meritous act ,no matter how bored we actually were within ! Sikhism is not about being a hardened up soul shuttling back and forth in the world of religous debates, dogma, and ideology with some extreme sensitivity ,and intolerance towards whatever is religously incorrect according to your acquired world view of Sikhism .Sikhism is not about transforming yourself into a highly judgemental person with your thinking 'cap' busy in action every second . Bhai Nand Lal is reminding us that Sikhism is about how you engage your heart ,mind ,emotions ,soul ,consciousness and being ,in loving God and Guru . Infact in one gazal he says ''Stop sermonising ,i want to get intoxicated now''. I notice a big difference in the generation i grew up in ,and this present younger generation . In the older generations, a lot of people i knew were not educated ,there were no computers and no televisions .But people had love for each other and sikhi ,they tolerated differences and saw everyone as part of khalsa panth .Monas ,etc were not constantly reminded and finger pointed and made to feel they were not sikhs .Infact it was from this pool of monas that people would start growing hair, beard etc and be blessed with amrit .It was a time of inclusivity not exclusivity ,differences in opinion about sikhi were never allowed to segregate people .It was a time of simplicity and purpose of faith .I felt so good and proud to be a Sikh .People would go to 1 gurudwara where ragmala was read ,to another where it was not but treated the both equal and never talked about it . What i notice is that today we have computers ,books ,translations and the lots .We are very exposed to the western mindset .The western mindset can be over analytical ,cynical and breed negativity ,paranoia ,sensitivity and fear about everything as well as depression .In the west you just want to innoculate yourself from anything that can harm your body ,mind ,family ,work ,home ,car ,religion ,possesions ,culture etc . In the west you dissect every little thing ,your mind is constantly subjected to choices ,you are ectremely sensitive about your rights and ppl overstepping even a tiny inch on the patch of your religious ,emotional ,financial or physical territory .people in the west even correct you and look confused even if you use 1 word wrongly in a sentence . I see this critical attitude manifesting itself as running online battles on any sikh youth forum i look!. The obsession of generations past was not about the nitty gritty of maryada and whats wrong or right ,or who is the latest traitor to khalsa panth! The obsession of generations past was about bigger things -about making sure the younger generation knew about the shaheeds ,about stories from Guru's lifes ,about memorising Japji sahib and nitnem ,about getting up at amritvela and doing simran. The sermons/katha was not about the rights and wrongs of maryadas but about infusoing the sangat's minds with understanding of gurbani and guru sakhian and itihas ! In the west ,even religous people can start getting depressed .Infact there are so many depressed christians at church that a leading christian scholar ,dr martyn l .jones had to write a book called christian depression! That is so alien to me because i grew up in a culture of chardikela . I cannot remember even one sikh from the older and my generation who suffered from depression ! Sikhs just did kirt de kemai ,naam japna and vand ke shakna .Sikhs just did naam dan ishnan . Some of the most chardikela Sikhs i knew werent ppl who made 1 big fuss about maryada or Dasam Granth or any other of the many panthic issues dividing us today ito enemy camps . My best mate's dad was a man called Arjan Singh . I dont have the faintest recollection about what maryada he followed .All i can tell you is that this man awoke at 2 a.m every morning ,had ishnan ,a little keshkee around his head ,sat in huge kachera on a big bed outside his house and very loudly did a load of nitnem ,simran and other banees till 7 a.m .And sunday mornings he sat right in front in sangat area and alternated with the gyanee in reciting Asa Ki // with his loud voice . I quoted Bhai Nand Lal in the beginning .Bhai Sahib is saying ,listen its about the love ,the intoxication .Naam and Gurbani are highly intoxicating .try it! Gurbani is God manifesting as Guru to us .If we are not careful ,we can end up reading Gurbani like parrots .Even Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh had to admonish his fellow Sikh prisoner for not reading Gurbani with prem raas -love essence .Gurbani has to be read ,not ritualistically ,but with understanding, gentleness and fervour .Then Gurbani's magic and metaphysical power works .Simran has to arise from the heart like a lethal vapour . When this starts happening ,your mind moves on from its normal state to an intoxicated state .However there is a difference .This intoxication is not one you get stoned/violent/up for a fight/not in control of your mind/slow in thinking/confused in thoughts /cannot walk .It has no hangover like headaches and depression and lethargy . Instead in this intoxication you feel an inner coolness ,a heightened sense of awareness ,your mind feels perked ,you feel so happy and joyful ,you feel a deeep special feeling of love in the heart ,and you feel as strong as a lion ,and you are in the presence of God .In this intoxicated state you feel wisdom ,humility ,and braveness and tenderness pour out of your soul .In this intoxication your forehead shines and you feel light. In this intoxication you feel loved and protected by Gurujee and you look radiant and beautiful . Hence Bhai Sahib is saying its ok if you are not too good in going to school ,i.e being scholarly, intellectual ,and well educated about Sikhi as that can all come in its own pace slowly .Instead capture the magic of the moment !Get immediately to the point where through simran ,though devotion you can start being passionate ,being intoxicated ,being in love with Gurujee ,experiencing the powerful vibes of God's presence in your soul .Your knowledge may take decades to develop but the joy/anand that Sikhi/Gurujee can give you can be yours right now ,this moment in your own bedroom! And it is so enjoyable that Bhai sahib says -pour me another drink ,i want to get totally intoxicated ,i.e i cant have enough of this ras ,this essence ,i want more . Raas/ras -essence is a beautiful word the more you think about it. You squeeze a juicy orange or mango and the lush tasty juice flows out which is heavenly to taste .Likewise you press a blueberry or blackcurrant and sweet juice squirts out .You press a million roses or jasmine flowers and drops of a crystal coloured liquid flows out .This liquid is the concentrated smell of all those roses or jasmine flowers .It gets used in making aromatheraphy products ,bach flower remedies and ladies perfumes. Likewise Sikhi is about ras ,extracting the juice ,tasting it ,getting intoxicated by it .This is the immortalising juice .Complacency and over intellectualisation makes you as distant from this naam juice as sky is from the oceon . A Sikh sets his /her eyes on this ras ,this essence . May we over flow with naam ras ,with prem ras ,with Har ras .May our souls not be dried up from the inner while we talk big on the outside .May our consciousness be filled with passion and God's love juices making us wet and fresh, like morning dew drops .May this ras flow in nectar like words ,thoughts and actions that touch and inspire those we come into contact with
  17. Thanks for importing Bhai Kulbir Singh jee's article . His posts are always informative and inspiring . I remember many years ago in my life i had to look after and allowed a load of young people live in my house to help them out . Iwould come back from work around 5ish feeling rather tired and exhausted, sweating and hot .You know the feeling when your emotions are running thin ,and you are on the verge of feeling snappy and edgy and your strength is as thin as a pencil line .Right after coming back ,i had to administer the house ,and with their assistance ,cook for them too! But i remember ,that ,then i would take a nice cold fresh ishnan and we would all sit together for Raehraas before Shree GURU GRANTH SAHIB MAHARAJ ,parkash was in our house .Then we would all do keertan together and simran for at a couple hours .O man! allll my tiredness would just melt away and my heart would get filled to the brim with love for all of these people no matter how annoying they were .Thats when i learnt a valuable secret that Gurbani is the source of the a great love that can swell in our heart out of the blue instead of trying to mentally work it out . Gurujee can express His love to us through anyone in this world ,Sikh or non Sikh when He chooses to!. Once ,my landlord ,who was also in the neighbouring house, who incidently was a 'sikh' asked me and my gursikh mates to get out asap because she couldnt stand the loud ''noises '' we made when we sang keertan every evening! blimme ,i was confused where to go . But a young Sikh boy from the neighbourhood ,out of the blue ,came to my door and said his grandmother wanted to see me .My first thought was ''here comes more trouble!''.But when i went to her house she turned out to be a strong ,tall ,straight backed ,Gursikh lady with a keshkee and displaying kirpan in gatra . She said she had heard of my predicamant .She said she wanted me and my gursikh veers to stay in her house .She got her son to immediately divide the house into front and back putting a wooden divide in between .She said because we have SGGS parkash we have to stay in front!and she and her family moved to the back .I had no choice but she was insistent . They were very very poor but for this poor family it was a blessing that we had moved in! With the little they had, every evening they would make dall and chappatis and bring it around just before raehraas started .Then it would be served out as langar to this family and my veeers right after ardas and vaak . This lady's son was a very very poor man with loads of children(the days before condoms). But omg omg omg around 3 or 4 a.m the morning after we had just moved in ,i was still asleep but suddenly heard a soft but clear voice of a woman singing in the back part of the house where this family had just moved into .I recognised it as the voice of the Gursikh Matajee's daughter in law! In a thin voice she was singing to herself from SGGS shabads, tu mera pita ,tu heh mera mata'' and then sachi preet hum tum seo jori !!!!!!! Tears filled my eyes .I started thinking omggg this family has hardly anything to eat ,but this bibi is waking up ,taking a little atta ,kneading it into dough ,and her heart and tongue are singing God's praises .You have no idea what a big lesson i learnt about love that morning compared to a million sermons about love ! That simple act of a poor person singing to God while the world is asleep ,thanking God for his gifts ,and acknowledging God's love and Gurujee as mum and dad! The language of gursikhs is the language of love!!! we dont speak english or punjabee ,we speak love! Many years later ,and i am in England .I have decided to start my own business .Its 1996 .In january 1997 ,in my new cafe ,an english lad 22 years old ,tall and slim ,comes in ,sits down ,tells me he is a vegeterian .He opens his hand, shows me a load of coins and says 'Listen ,this is what i have ,take whatever you want and please serve me some thing vegeterian .I n my heart ,i felt as if Guru Nanak had just come though this person to eat from my hands .I do not know why but thats what i felt .So i just took as few little coins as i could ,went in the kitchen ,and brought out a plate of rice ,salad ,vegetable curry and chapatis .I could see his face light up in joy! He started talking and told me in 1992 ,he had as a back packer been to India and went to the Harmandir Sahib and had bowed before SGGS . Anyway we became friends .One day he looked at me (early1997) and said to me ''why do you look sad and worried ?'' I told him ,look its early days of my business and i have not enough income left to pay back my bank loan and rent .He insisted i follow him to the bank ,i declined .He then put his arm around me and practically forced me to walk to the bank with him .At the bank he went to the counter ,withdrew cash .He came back to me and said ''Listen i have withdrawn £600 .thats all the savings i have in the world .Lets put this into your account now and save the situation .He wouldnt take no for an answer .Omg ,a poor white guy 23 ,hardly knowing me deeply ,has just taken out all his life savings of £600 and given them all to me . I felt this was the kautak of GURU GOBIND SINGH MAHARAJ who can show up in the least possible of persons in any form he wants . This person i am talking about even took a Sikh name of Anoop Singh ,i adopted him as my son and brother ,and educated him through Guru Maharaj kirpa and now he has done a Masters in economics at University of Bristol and works in the Birmingham Police .Whenever i go Birmingham he takes me to whichever Gurudwara i want to go ! At the 2008 vaisakhi festival in birmingham , we went into Guru Maharaj parkash tent and then sat for langar .He complained '' Aaah they are slacking ,there is only chapatti and a little dry sabzi ,i need some dall '' haha hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Anyway enuff of my stories for now hahaaaaaaaaa .Time for some techno simran! hahaaaaaaaa .
  18. hehe i must be suffering from old age symtoms of hearing loss or confused hearing hahaaaa that sounded like chardikela style reaaaaaal fast akj style simran .proper techno! hahaaaaaa i just speeded up my morning chanting listening to that parrot ! hahaaaaa never mind .

  20. True love has an origin ,and when its power is unleashed it strikes like a arrow ,which, as it strikes your heart unleases the power within you to feel it ,experience it ,and to love back .The lens of our understanding concerning this, are put into focus by Bhai Nand Lal when in his 'Ghazals (8)' he says mra ra b-yak izarai abruu shaheed krd, aknu elaj nist ke teer aaz kma guzsht i.e With one twitching of His eyebrow ,Guru Gobind Singh ,can martyr/strike us with His Love, There is no treatment when the arrow of love is shot from Guru Gobind Singh's bow . Guru Ramdas Jee in the second cchant of Asa Ki Vaar ,says ''har prem bani man marea ,anialeh ania ram raje '' which means ''Gurbani's pointed arrow has smitten/struck my heart with God's Love''.When this Love strikes us ,Gurujee says in cchant 1 ,that ''My eyes are wet with Amrit ,and my soul and mind imbued with God's love ''.Gurujee dyes us with deep red (chalula rang) (i.e real hot ,alive ,bursting ,permanent) love ,whereby we feel wet ,soaked and overflowing with God's love .When such a love hits us up ,we become empowered to rid ourselves of our little fancies/infatuations/romances and attachments because Gurbani says 'sachi preet hum tum seo jori ,tum seo jorh avrh sang tori' Thus as you can see the problem the world has is that it 'tries' to love and it doesnt work ,then you get confused and depressed about love ,and start becoming choc-a-block mixing it up with attachment .This is because we are ;trying '.Thats precisely the problem ''-trying '' i.e coming from our ego ,our man -made efforts .Even great swamis and modern day gurus preach pleasing to the ears messages about love .However, Gurmat pinpoints why love can be allusive and how to actually get it . Someone who posted somewhere on here about love quotes swami vivekanada on love .However ,from a Gurmat point of view swami vivekananda got his understanding of love totally wrong and mixed up ,if you read the article on Love written by that swami . There, the swami says ''love is meant to be free'' ,but in gurbani ,love is the costliest thing around that we can only get as a gift through Guru Maharaj's kirpa ,as i have quoted above .Guru Gobind Singh Jee says in tavprasad savaiyey ''Sri Bhagwan ki bhae kirpa hu te ek rtee bin ek rtee ke''. If i think something is all free and passing around freely ,i do not need to ask God for it because it is free and freely available ,and i can use my human ego and effort to get it and mess about with it . However ,the constant prayer of a sikh is for Gurujee to love him/her and to be able to love Gurujee and all beings . Infact during Amrit shakna we give our heads ,our lifes ,our bodies to Gurujee for this purpose ,and as Gurbani says ''meh to mol mengi leeh'' ,i.e i have purchased it very very costly. Concerning love the swami further goes on to say that for true love ,'' Give and don't expect.Advise, but don't order.Ask, but never demand.'' This is totally wrong .When a mother gives her child love, she has to teach her child how to respond back in love too ,else that will grow up to be one selfish ,unloving person, and panj pyares in many situations have to order ,not just advise ,and that is seen as their true love, likewise in Gurbani sometimes even with God you dont just ask -you demand and beg for it stubbornly till God gives you it(pavoh daan dhith hoe mangu). That swami in his article claims that those 3 things i just quoted are the secret of true love .Gurbani says the secret of true love is to surrender (jis pyareh seo neh ,tis ageh mar chaleaeh),that love is a gift from Gurujee and to receive this Divine Love ,then if its not happening yet ,then pray to God during ardas and this costly gift will be bestowed upon you . This is true love ,originating from God/Gurujee ,and when we receive it ,its very very humbling ,yet is like a permanent dye ,and is ''lethal'' and ''fatal''. Whoever comes in contact with such a Sikh will experience such a mind blowing love from that Sikh that it will be a world apart from the confusing ,short-fused, often conditional , self-originating love that he has experienced before . In Anand Sahib ,Guru Amardas Jee proclaims '' baba jes tu deh ,soee soee paveh.paveh ta so jan deh jes nu,hor kea kareh vechareah'' i.e O Father ,he to whom You give ,obtains it ,what can the other pitiful /poor men do? The real truth about many supposed swamis who look ,talk and behave as if they have met God and understand love and then preach sermons of love ,which fall short of the true reality of love as expounded by Gurmat is summarised by Guru Arjan Dev on pg 738(SGGS), in raag suhi. Read the whole shabad starting with the verses''sewa thori mangen bohta, mahal na paveh ,kehto pohta............'' i.e people who claim to have reached but haven't, even with their convincing sermons and garbs.Gurujee in that shabad says such people with no real love in their heart utter and proclaim and sermonise about love as if they are imbued with love . Bhai Gurdas in Kabitt Swayye(14) says , prem ras bash hoe petang sangam na jane birhe bechoh meen hoe na mar jane heh i.e In order to become one with my dear Beloved,I,a deceitful lover ,not possessed by His love, did not learn from a moth how to die in separation from him , nor did i learn from fish how to die in the separation of my beloved. Bhai Gurdas goes on to say jau lau an-ras baas tau lau nehi prem raas i.e, As long as one's attachment is to wordly pleasures Till then one cannot know the essence of love In that swami's article a girl opens a hand with some water in it and shows it ,and its meant to be ''As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there. However, if you attempt to close your fingers round it and try to possess it, it will spill through the first cracks it finds''. However ,as i have explained its God's hand that gives us love ,and in fact when love is given ,its best not to treat it all free and casual as that can breed carelessness and complacency ,but rather to appreciate it,look after it,and to water it and let it grow . God/Guru loving us deeply (which in turns gives us thecapacity to love God/Guru and all beings) is so precious that Guru Nanak Dev Jee, lets out a secret as to how we can be in the business of receiving it and get into the business of being loved and to love . Gurujee in Jaap Jee Sahib ,4th pauri (verses ,4 ,5) ,asks Himself ''What language should be uttered by the mouth so that He may bestow His love on us after hearing it? ''. Then Guru Jee Himself gives the answer ''During amritvela dwell upon the TRUE NAAM and ponder on God's greatness'' Gurbani also teaches us the value of remaining pure , watchful ,careful ,mindful and wise in matters concerning love rather than treating it as some free commodity in a lot of cross comparisons between the attitudes and final outcomes for a sohagun vis-a vis a dohagun.(sohagun -a womwn succesful in loving and being loved by her husband and dohagun ,the reverse ) in SGGS . True love is like a particle of nucleur fuel .When you do get it ,its mind blowing for both you and anyone around you .Thats why,m Bhai Nand Lal ,makes a prayer in Zindagi Naama (vs507), Dar dile goya hvae sounk bksh bar zobansh zraa-eh azh zaunk bksh i.e O Waheguru! kindly bless my heart with a yearning of love for you please bestow upon my tongue just one particle of the fondness for your love So powerful is the fire of love that Bhai Nand Lal says Aa chuna shokhtm azaa aatish Harr ke beshuneed choo cnar bshokht i.e I was burnt in the fire of Guru Gobind Singh's love so much That anyone who heard about this got burnt too like a pine tree! hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Its through Gurmat that we really begin to understand what love really is .The love we experience/experienced before we got really close to Gurujee ,pales in comparison to the love we experience once Gurjee's arrows of love hit us .Such an arrow hits deep in our heart .Kabir (pg 1374 ) says as this arrow hit,I fell on the flow (lagt hi bhoe gerh preah, prah kleje cchek). It is an intoxicating experience that can knock you off your soberness(mere hirdeh sudh bodh sabh viser gyee). God's love helps us to differentiate between love and attachment and has the power to help us to be humble ,to be honest and to be extremely kind and loving ,to show no favouritism ,to make no one ever feel lesser loved by us ,to sacrifice for other's sake and to love God's creation with sensitivity and tenderness ,to desire other's success and to be joyful in other's blessings .God's love ,at the same time helps us to be bold ,to be empowered and have strength in our words ,thoughts and actions .God's love helps us to be people with juicyness ,passion and to never pity ourselves ,feel victimised ,unloved or depressed . There is no stronger person than a person who is constantly feeling ,appreciating ,throbbing ,pulsating ,dripping and feeling intoxicated with this tiny but extremely mind blowing thought that God and Gurujee loves him/her .No one could be wealthier and more joyful than a person filled with prem ras ,love essence gifted by God .
  21. okeee AKJ 47 JATHA LION, i'll type in 1940 into my time travel speedometer gadget .will report back i saw in pentonville prison . remember i'm posting back what i'm seeing as 'BACK FROM GURMUKHI SPACE TRAVELS '.What did u think of me 1st maiden journey to 1933?
  22. JustME guru pyareo , In 1981 ,Professor Manjit Singh(Jathedar Kesgarh Sahib), during a keertan diwan in Malaysia explained the diference between love and attachment .I have not forgotten that, in the last 28 years of my life by Guru Maharaj's kirpa . Basically love is symbiotic, unselfish, lets go, and desires the other's best. attachment is parasitic ,needs the other person for your own needs whatever they may be, is self centered and food for the ego. True love empowers you, strengthens you and helps you help the other person .Attachment weakens you, makes you either aggressive ,jeolous or submissive and open to use, abuse and violence . There is no such thing as selfish love. Love is from the spirit of God within ,whilst attachment ,as gurbani says is one of the 5 dogs within us ''eh bhitr te ein ko daroh ,apn nkt bulavoh'' ,i.e these 5 are within ,OLord sort em out for me and bring me into Your Presence . Guru poses a question then Himself answers it in Gurbani ----'eso kaun beli re?' i.e who is such a warrior? The answer Gurujee gives is ''jinh mar bidareh panc surbeer so pura eh klee re'' i.e he who defeats and vanquishes the 5 little [demonic] fighters within, is the perfect person in kalyug . Gursikhs are on a journey to cleanse ourselves of any sort of arttachment and to love truly all .This is a love that shows no favours,no favouritism ,based on blood ties or race .This love sees no enemies or strangers .''na ko beri nehi begana ,sagal sang hum ko bann aaee'' i.e The best form of love is to see God in all .Guru Arjan Dev Jee in raag suhi ,pg 741 says ''ghat ghat antar parbrahm pechaneh''i.e Recognise the Supreme Lord in all hearts''.Then you will never break anyone's heart but flood it with true love from your own soul ,fuelled by Gurujee's bursting Naam within yourself .
  23. khalsa army jeeeeoooo, sikhi is not about calming down, or the opposite . sikhi is about living thru Maharaj kirpa in that special xclusive zone where you are in chardikela and sehaj avastha at the same time . blissful sikh jeeoo. you can call me veerji which means ''my darling brother'' but not babajee .baba in punjabee can mean a ripe old man of 80 ,or some guy considered/considering himself holier than others.in sikhism we are all children of Gurujee having love and fun amongst ourselves
  24.
