  1. Let's look at this Shabad: http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=44 Guru Ji referred to Akaal Purakh as Madho, but was also talking to Madho - who was present at the scene. The sakhi related to this Shabad is when a Bhagat was being innocently punished for something he never did (the evidence was substantial evidence ie: Wrong place wrong time). The Punishment was for him to be crushed by wooden spikes. However, due to his bhagti, the wooden spikes turned green (into plants) Madho, with his student, went to Guru Ji to ask what happened - and Guru Ji said: Mere Madho Jee, Sat Sangat Mille So Tarria GurParsaad Param Pad Paya, Sookke Kaasht Hariya As well as explaining to Madho, Guru Ji gave an updesh in this shabad about the power of Sat Sangat. Guru Ji done many of these karaamaats with Gurbani - Dhan Guru Ji. PS: Guru Ji may have done this with the shabad in the original post

  4. The Mughal King wanted to get a Bhramin to smoke tobacco. His clever advisors gave him an idea. What they did was make everyone in the court room smoke when the Bhramin came in. THe king said: Look everyone smokes, even I do! So why don't you? Looking around he thought might as well give it one puff.. everyone's doing it.. so he did and lost his powers. (continuatoin of another story i posted earlier somewhere lol)

  9. Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharaaj created the philosophy of Miri and Piri (temporal and spiritual respectively). The above article just focuses on the Piri side of Sikhi. Guru Ji taught us to live lives as a householder. Be a worldy person but.. as Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji puts it: "Man he Maahe Udasa" - Be an udasi but IN UR MIND. No point in running away to forests/running away from normal life to do "tap" etc - That's exactly what Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Aap Nirankaar Saroop Maharaaj told the Yogis NOT to do. How can Education take you away from Naam? The Shabad that Bhai Sahib used from Asa Di //: http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=1711 does NOT talk against Education - Rather it said that just reading about stuff won't get you mukti you have to ACT upon it and follow the Nirmal Panth (pure path). If Education was such a taboo in Sikhi, why would Kalgidhar Pita Sahib-e-Kamaal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji send out Singhs to learn vidya??? "Inhi Ke Parsaad So Bidiya Layee.." Bhagat Prahlaad was sent to school to learn and he replied that he only wants to learn about Akaal Purakh - What does that tell you? That tells me that he was like that from day 1. ie: He had this Bakhshish from Akaal Purakh Sahib Ji from the Day Go. We try to copy Bhagats/Sants in many ways, but we never end up being the same as them - We turn out to be a not-so-good version of them.. We don't have that inner goodness that they had. Eg: Some Gursikhs have so much Pyaar for their Kakaars that they would not eat if one of them is missing (like on the plane) but people try copying that and say "ur not meant to eat when your kakaars are off" see the difference? Baba Nand Singh Ji and other Sant Mahapurashs from the Nanaksar Jathebandi didn't have Lobh+Moh for money - Nanaksari's try to follow that by not putting a golak infront of Guru Granth Sahib ji - but instead some take money behind people's backs. Bhai Sahib Bhai Randheer Singh ji and some other Mahapurashs, when doing Naam Simran lose control of their bodies and move around in "mast". However, people of the jatha try to copy that by moving during Naam Simran thinking its the way to go.. It's not all good just trying to copy Gursikhs - it's about getting to their avastha and then all the outward things (such as not finding taste in any songs/music except for keertan) will come naturally.
  10. as the famous saying in Punjabi goes: If you have the ladoo you suffer.. If you don't you suffer lol There's a reason why they discourage you. It's not like they would lose out if u get a kuri as well On the serious side: You have to try to think on a higher level. What you're ddoing now is looking down and wanting to go down there. Gurbar Akaal Sat Sri Akaal Purakh Sahib Ji Maharaj Sache Paatshah (damn not as long as mehtab's but still  ) doesn't test us. It is Us who trip over the path and think "Why am i suffering?!" It is all part of you maturing. Everytime u mess up.. u learn from it and move on.. you grow up spiritually and mentally. From the amount of crap I;ve done in my life is nothing comapred to yours, but I appreciate the fact that without it I wouldn't be where I am now.
  11. banged the nail on its head :awesome
  12. Guru ji answers this :D (BUT I DONT HAVE "AMRIT RAS" WITH ME ANYMOREEEE NAHIIIIII) http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2518 << Bhagat Ravidas chatting to Akaal Purakh about it. Just Like AKaal Purakh, like a mate, asks Ravidas "Eh Ravidas, you worked your way away form Moh Maya etc.. but what if I trap you again into it?" Then Bhagat Ji replies, "Then I would trap you with my love".. because Akaal Purakh allows Him to be bound by his Bhagat to keep the Bhagat's Bachan true. Story from Mahabharat: Duryodhan and Arjun (the massive war between the 2 families about to rage) both go to Krishan. To cut the story short, Duryodhan arrived first, and asked for his help. So did Arjun. Now Krishan had to do something. So he gave a choice to Duryodhan: "Pick me, I'll be a charioteer and promise not to use any of my powers/engage myself into the war. OR pick my army and my brother and artillery etc" Duryodhan picked tHe army thinking "what good will Krishan do to me?" and Arjun picked Krishan. Bisham Pitama - On the Kaurav's side - was a wise man. He knew about this promise and did Pratigya to make Krishan break his promise. During the battle between him and Arjun, he aimed at the chariot wheel, shot the arrow, and the wheel fell off. Krishan in Josh picked up the Chariot wheel to use as a weapon. Then Bisham Pitama laughed "hahaaaa ... lol... u promised not to pick up a weapon in battlefield!" Krishan replied: "U did pratigya to break my promise. So I broke mine to keep yours." So back onto the topic, Akaal Purakh is ready to break His pratigya to keep yours. Therefore, "Heh Man" (in desi accent) Akaal Purakh wil save this bacha to keep your rehit intact. On the side note: The 1st post seemed biased to me - as in Bundha looks like he already had his answer - which was to break rehit to save the kid. PS: U can still do chest compressions on a patient who can't breathe. As long as the blood is pumping to the brain - Better than doing nothing at all. Plus: You have special masks if u wish to cover their mouth during mouth to mouth so u can perform it
  13. Lets be technical and spoil this whole thread by saying 1...Akaal Purakh is everywhere therefore always infront of u 2...And He won't give you a choice, he would Order you 3...It was His Will for you to do - you cant exactly fight against it 4...And it is not clear if Akaal Purakh (if he would appear) said you are going to blend into him or that he would take u to the Jamdoots 5... i give up lol
  14. Gangstaaaaa (I'm gna pretend I'm from West Canada) Happy birthday veera! edit: I'm actually on Mars and its yday today.

    Amrit

After Amrit you'll have a new beginning, where you can stop looking back and look foward to the beginning of your true spiritual journey.
  16. I'm jsut saying, In a Gursikh's dictionary words like "heart broken" don't come up. Instead words like "hukam" and "chardi kala" come up. I'm not bashing your wording.. you can jst easily change it. I'm actually bashing your way of thinking (in a nice way lol) :D Try thinking along the lines of Gursikhs. What would a Gursikh say? - The Gursikh would be naive to the state of "heart broken"-ness.. they would see it as a trap by Kaam/Moh.
  17. I think combing hair cannot be compared with "cutting" nails. Cutting is a process of forcibly removing. Just to bring up the argument. :D Also, why do we always say that sikhs has "alag pehchan" or "different identity" when muslims with turbans look same as singhs? Another argument. I've yet to see a Muslim with a Big Dumala Its just us who aren't following it properly
  18. (especially if u say "according to [insert random name here] Granth" after the sentence lol)
  19. As per Gyani Thakur Singh jee's katha it was tobacco. Yep that's where i heard it off 2.. they gave him tobacco (I think it is in a separate katha where Bhramins were forced to cut their kesh to lose their powers)
  20. lol banda in his dodgy years that's typical love language.. dude stop watching bollywood films! Emi aashiq banni firda! lol
  21. Meaning of Aarata is same as Aarat - according to mahankosh but i cant realy translate Aarat..
  22. A Mughal King's daughter fell in love with a Bhramin. The Mughal King, not wanting to break his daughter's heart, wanted to convert the Bhramin to Islam - so they can do Niqqa. Now, the Bhramin had the power of mantras, and when he was in captivity, used to recite a mantra which created a steel wall around him sot he soldiers couldnt touch him. The Mughal King enquired the greedy Bhramins about how to get rid of his mantra's powers and they told him to cut his Kesh he will lose all his power of mantras. Either that or give him tobacco. As well as having Spiritual power, Kesh was the symbol of a warrior. All brave warriors back in the time had long hair. This was the image of a free man. The above argument that parji has made can be countered by: what about having khanda hair cuts? That makes u stand out as well.. As well as having spiked up hair. On another topic: The turban symbolises royalty. Sikhs are kings of their own destinies. The Khalsa are the rulers. Turbans are the crowns to prove this.
  23. its not really illegal.. all hes doing is getting rid of a message that wastes 5 seconds of ur life everytym u open it
  24. the Translators use the Christian term Lord - when Gurbani is referring to Akaal Purakh. This is quite an issue in Sikhi: Amrit Sanchar has been translated to Christian-term Baptism; In actual fact is "Initiation" into the Panth Akaal Purakh, in translating Gurbani into English, is reffered to as He(like Christianity); However Akaal Purakh is genderless (And sometimes reffered to as SHE as well!) Guru Granth Sahib Ji is reffered to a holy book (like the Bible); But is actually our living Guru Guru is translated as Prophet (Semetic concept of a being sent by God to Earth); Sikhi doesn't believe in such a concept - instead believe in the concept of Satguru - who is One with Akaal Purakh. Going to Sunday is a Western concept, which we Sikhs have started to copy. Does Akaal only wake up on Sundays?! Sikhi is reffered to as a religion; when in fact it is the Nirmal Panth or "pure path", not a religion.
