  1. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Very interesting Veerji, please can you continue with the research. GurFateh!
  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Below are my observations of Vaisakhi at the new & improved "Karamsar" Gurdwara Sahib. 1) There was no Chaupai Sahib or Anand Sahib or any Gurbani when putting the Nishan Sahib up. Instead the Dhol Achedamy turned up to bang the dhol. A nice happy bhangra atmosphere was created. 2) When the 2 Sri Akhand Paths Sahibs were started for Vaisakhi, the local MP Mike Gapes turned up late and the microphone of the Granthi was switched off so that Mike Gapes could give a speech to the Sikh community over the Gurbani. Who gave Mike Gapes the right to speak over Guru Ji. 3) The local MP and councillers were served langar in a separate room with tables and chairs away from the pangat. Even Akhbar Badshah had langer in Pangat when visting Sri Guru Amar Das Sahib Ji, it's our maryada. 4) Sant Partap Singh was doing Dharna/Katha inside the Gurdwara whilst fireworks were being let off on the roof of the Gurdwara. Guru Ji's Parkash was still there, you could not even hear the kirtan/katha in the Diwan Sahib. 90 % of the sangat were standing outside watching rockets go up in the air, rather than sit in the sangat of Guru Ji. The focus has been lost in Karamsar Gurdwara, Babaji (Sant Partap Singh) is not what he used to be. All he seems to do now a days is dish out celebrations and heros chocolates out to the sangat. There has been no Amrit Sanchar in the Gurdwara for over a year, Vasakhi was a prime opportunity to have one. Karamsar is slowly becoming a "Santa Da Dera" and I hope the Babaji begins to refocus what was once a great institute in Ilford. GurFateh!
  3. I am just embarrassed. When will the committee boys learn to stop mixing bhangra/gidha with our Sikhi. The Punj Pyaray didn't give their heads to Guruji in order to dance in the streets of London.
  4. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Gurdwara Karamsar is not what it used to be. Give me that old labour hall that stood in it's place a few years ago. I have had some great personal experieces within this Gurdwara and even took Amrit from the Punj Pyaray at this Gurdwara. But todays "mahapursh's" are not what they used to be. They survive by living of previous mahapursh's name and building a fancy building. Like someone said above, it's what activities take place inside that counts. And I am sorry to say, they are not following the vichars of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji I really wish Gurdwara Karamsar focuses back to what it origanally was when it first opened in Ilford. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  5. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Congratulations Veerji.
  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Jagjit Singh Ji, Can we vote for the youth? How does the election system work if you do not live in Slough?
  7. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Veerji I agree with your posting. The Modern day Nagar Kirtan has becoming a dhol banging session. There is very little respect for GuruJi and our maryada during the Nagar Kirtans today, it is becoming a punjabi carnival. I did not go to the Southall Nagar Kirtan this year because from my previous experiences it is one of the worst for beadbi. The only way things will change is if the GurSikhs who wish to follow maryada turn up in numbers at these Nagar Kirtans and make their point. Until then the committees (who I am sorry to say follow manmat maryada) will run the show. We need to see more Singhs and Singhnees in Bana and Shasters to create the image of the Khalsa that is forgotten by mainstream Punjabis. This is a beanti to all amritdharis out there, please wear GuruJi's Bana as much as possible, especially at Nagar Kirtans. We need to work collectively on this. We need to form large groups that do Simran at Nagar Kirtans whilst in the crowds. We need to see large numbers of GurSikhs walking together like a jatha. We need to break the modern day image of a 'Sikh' and need to stop the abuse of our Nishan Sahib.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! The Khalsa Kids Day will comprise of Workshops, Kirtan, Paath, Presantations there will be regular breaks, activities and a bouncy castle as well as langer which will break the day up. KHALSA KIDS DAY  7 to 11 year old 2nd APRIL 05 @ GURU GOBIND SINGH KHALSA COLLEGE, RODING LANE, CHIGWELL, ESSEX FROM 10 am to 7 pm Registration at 10.30 am. GurFateh!!
  9. LookingForThePath.. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Excellent news. You made my day. Where are you from? There are some transport arrangements from a number of regional Gurdwaras. There should be a few Amrit Sanchars taking places in April. I know Soho Road Gurdwara will have one on 14 April.
  10. Ignore the website. Someones having a field day. Looks more favourable to the Naamdharis, wouldn't be surprised if the site is set up by a Naamdhari. At the end of the Naamdharis, Nirankaris and Rashasoamis are not Sikhs so should not be even classified as "SIKH".
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Reminder....
  12. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Will there be an Amrit Sanchar on that day?
  13. Got feedback from the Christian shop manager. The "cloth" has been bought in bulk by the catherdral from a wholesaler. They claim they don't know what is on the "cloth". They have now been informed that it is Gurbani and that it is displayed upside down. The manager has stated that they were unaware that the "cloth" had any religious significance to any faith. They will get back to me with further details. I suggested that it would be best that they removed the rumalla from their shop displays, not sure if the rest of the sangat agree. Now that they know that the "ik oankar" symbol is sacred to Sikhs I don't think they really want to use it in their displays. Personally I think they had no intentions of displaying anything Sikh (or any other non christian group) and purchased some cloth which they probably though looked nice and ethnic for the display. It's the wholesaler who needs to be aware of what they are selling and the implications. Tommorrow the wrong person with the wrong intentions can by this "cloth" and use it to make fashioable garments, who knows.
  14. KHALSA KIDS DAY 2nd APRIL 05 @ GURU GOBIND SINGH KHALSA COLLEGE, RODING LANE, CHIGWELL, ESSEX FROM 10 am to 7 pm Activities, Sports, Workshops & Bouncy Castle!!!!!
  15. Tel: 020 7798 9055 Westminister Cathedral Just called them up to explain that they have displayed a rumalla with Gurbani upside down. I have left a message and am expecting a phone call back. Maybe some others can also give them a call so that they respond quicker.
  16. Jagroop Singh Ji, This compromise is dangerous. How cheap is our Sikhi? Can we throw it away in order to raise a few thousand pounds? Can we put a price on what the Gurus, Saheeds and Puratan Sikhs have done for us? For some people it is that easy to throw away their Sikhi. There is no "majboori" in serving alcohol or meat, it is a personal preference, people do this out of choice. Will Guru Gobind Singh approve of booze being served in the name of Sikh progression? I don't think so. So what right do we have to allow this to happen!! What's the point of a SIKH school if we can't even follow our Guru's Hukam properly? These funds will not benefit the Sikh Kaum, we will reap what we sow!
  17. This ant-Gurmat event is taking place at Haveli Banqueting Hall in Slough on 18 March to allegedlly raise money for a Gurmat Sikh School in Slough. They will have various guests of honour there and will be serving alcohol and meat whilst discussing the teaching of our Sikh Gurus. It's a slap on the face.
  18. Set aside the meat issue for the moment. The whole attitude of Rami Ranger towards Sikhi and Amrit is appalling and if he's a supposed Sikh representive then I am not happy with him taking on this role. Alcohol (and I believe the meat too) cannot and must not be served at any Sikh related event. What else are we going to have bollywood dancing mixed with kirtan. For Gods sake we are raising money for a Sikh School where we will learn about the ethics of Sikhi, to top this these guys will pour alchohol down everyones mouth in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. I am disgusted!
  19. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I think the best thing to do is let the authorities deal with it. Let this journalist pass the info to the authorities and the gulity will be prosecuted. At the end of the day, this article is in the News of the World, who are renowned for their 'creative' journalism. Anyway, one thing that needs addressing is all Granthi Singhs should have to have taken Santhia of the whole of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji (as a minimum) before being allowed to do Guru Sahib's seva... There should be a process where they are able to prove this via documentation from one of the Takhts or Sikh Institutes (i.e Taksal, Nanaksar, Rara Sahib). Otherwise we are going to have more and more cases like this...
  20. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Fateh! Nah, Wash your own kes Singh! Wash your kes with love and devotion and they will look "nice and silky" just like them woman have them when they come out of the saloon. I can't think of a more unsuitable place for a Singh/Singhnee to be. Do you also want the hairdresser to do your joora for you?
  21. Whenever I felt down about the state of Sikhi I could always rely on Maskins katha to boost me up. In all this Gurdwara committee/babay sant manmat of today, Maskin was refreshing. He didn't big himself up, he didn't give himself a title. He just did honest Katha and it was very powerful. You felt that you saw the humbleness of Sikhi whenever he was on TV. We should be inspired by Giani Sant Singh Maskin and imporve our understanding of Gurmat and Gurbani ourselvee. We have to aim to be the Gianis of tommorrow! Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!!
  22. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Don't get me wrong. I think the event is a good idea. However, is there no way you can avoid getting the Mercia involved. The Mercia does have a number of bars, one is in the main hall. Is there no Gurdwara Complex in Cov that can provide access to their Hall? It's just a venue like Mercia does not do our Sikh activities any justice. This is just my opinion and I am not attacking the good work you are doing. GurFateh!
  23. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This is a request to the East London sangat. Please make every effort to attend this Kirtan Darbar. Donations will be going to Khalsa Aid and it is a good chance for the local Sikh Naujwaan to network. GurFateh!
  24. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It's such a cop out negative attitude that exists out there. All this negativity does is justify people's manmat. There are Sikhs out there. Plenty of Chardi Kala Sikhs!! It all depends if we want to sit in their sangat. Sei Pyaray Mael Jina Milya Tera Naam Chet Ava!
