  1. Judging by their war record, they really haven't won at anything!
  2. My solution is simple: Get the hell out of that country!
  3. Are you from the UK? Rival gurdwara's? what in the blazes chumcha's has this world come too?
  4. Fateh Khalsa04, I am with Khalsa veerji on this one. I think we both know that you're wearing the kara for cultural reasons. Everyone else seems to be doing it, aunties and uncles by their nieces and nephew's gold kara's, so why not wear it? Back in the summer I took my kara off because it didn't feel right, I wasn't keeping my hair or wearing a turban and there's no such thing as a half Sikh. *I am not trying to discourage you from wearing it* For people like us who are in situations like the one described by you, it should not matter if the kara is on or off. It's just a piece of metal we put on our arm. But if we were following the path of Sikhi, that piece of metal would have meaning. Now legally speaking, your manager is wrong to force you to take the kara off. You can argue our religion requires it. Other measures can be taken to ensure your kara is no where near the food, such as pushing it up your arm and taping it and covering it with a sleeve.
  5. It's no shocker that Bush won the hick states.

  9. God has decided their fate.. They can walk around thinking they're free men, who knows what will happen to them after
  10. Woah, hang on there. Calm down buddy! lol Personally, I am GLAD she died because she couldn't carry on her personal crusade against the Sikhs any further. Even though riots broke out afterwards atleast there was no Indira Gundi enacting other policies of aggression. There's a lot of things that Brar stated that contradict what actually happened. He's a blatant liar. I PUT INDIRA GUNDI ON THE SAME LEVEL AS HITLER/SADDAM/PINOCHET and any other evil leader who denied their citizens fundamental human rights, most importantly the right to live. I DON'T HATE HER, NOR DO I LIKE HER, I AM JUST GLAD SHE IS NOT IN THIS WORLD TO CARRY OUT ACTS OF GENOCIDE. SO BY EATING SWEETS, YOU'RE DARN RIGHT I'M GOING TO CELEBRATE AND PARTY TILL THE NIGHT IS OVER. The celebration of her death comes second to the thousands of people who died, who should ALWAYS be remembered.
  11. I was celebrating the death of Indira Gundi over some warm milk with sugar, and computer games. Is this wrong though? To celebrate one's death after he/she committed acts of genocide? If what you say is true about the PM not doing jack for the community, you gotta realize he's a politician in INDIA. Just because he wears a turban and has a beard, don't expect him to be the next martyr to the Sikhs. This guy is probably corrupt, for all I care. On another note, I was watching several 1984 movies and read a bunch of articles, and still can't come to terms with the actions of Kuldip Singh Brar, the Lt. General who led the attack on the Golden Temple. He was a Sikh himself, maybe not a devoted Sikh, but someone who understood the importance of the Golden Temple nonetheless. How could he even think about firing a bullet at our holy shrine? I asked these questions to myself. In an interview with the History Channel he stated "I was given a job to do, and I performed it to the best of my ability." That pa-gal, but he's a man of military integrity. So you can say the PM of India is a man of political integrity.
  12. That's a good question! Back in 1980's I don't think the United Nations was an influential international entity as it is today. Also as someone mentioned in this thread the Indian government's battle against Sikhs was portrayed to the public as a fight against terrorism and maintaining national security for the country. 1984 was not up to par with other events, such as Slobadan Milosevic's ethnic cleansing of minorities and Saddam's quest to eliminate the Kurdish people in Northern Iraq, so I guess the international community didn't bother caring at all, it was India's 'internal' problem. In the 1991 Gulf War President Bush set out to free the Kuwaiti people from Saddam's occupation, and actually expressed support for the Kurds in the North. But when Saddam was defeated in Kuwait and the Kurds started their rebellion, Saddam quelled them in the north through use of chemical and biological weapons. Bush did not go in to help the Kurds, it was an internal problem. I think the international community could have taken action. Nowadays when there's genocide and such the UN im poses sanctions. Millions of people are dying in war-torn Africa (Amnesty reported 40,000 rapes last year), but not much is being done there because developed countries have no interests in that area. They could care less.
  13. Fateh, The ones pertaining to Europe and mainly the events in the middle east. I've been keeping up with the news, and the central developments of Europe, in particular the creation of one European entity with one elected President, and the conflict in Palestine parrallels these 'prophecies.' I am not worried at all, mind you, but interested to see what is happening and how this is discusssed in Sikhi.
  14. I have a good Christian friend, and we were having a discussion the other day about the Book of Revelations and its prophecies. *Note: I am not converting to Christianity Anyways, he was telling me about the coming of the anti-christ and how the world will have some tough times ahead, blah blah. What's surprising is that most of the prophecies are coming true, with recent events. Question: What does Sikhi have to say about this? Does it even address this issue?
  15. Look at this fine young man .. paying attention to class and taking good notes.. what a good role model for our youth! He is hosting a raensbai at his Brampton home this Saturday. - Sunny P.S. He missed the last 2 lectures for Sociology 207.
  16. By Dr David Whitehouse BBC News Online science editor An asteroid discovered just weeks ago has become the most threatening object yet detected in space. A preliminary orbit suggests that 2002 NT7 is on an impact course with Earth and could strike the planet on 1 February, 2019 - although the uncertainties are large. Astronomers have given the object a rating on the so-called Palermo technical scale of threat of 0.06, making NT7 the first object to be given a positive value. From its brightness, astronomers estimate it is about two kilometres wide, large enough to cause continent-wide devastation on Earth. Many observations Although astronomers say the object definitely merits attention, they expect more observations to show it is not on an Earth-intersecting trajectory. This asteroid has now become the most threatening object in the short history of asteroid detection Dr Benny Peiser It was first seen on the night of 5 July, picked up by the Linear Observatory's automated sky survey programme in New Mexico, US. Since then astronomers worldwide have been paying close attention to it, amassing almost 200 observations in a few weeks. Could it be deflected? Dr Benny Peiser, of Liverpool John Moores University in the UK, told BBC News Online that "this asteroid has now become the most threatening object in the short history of asteroid detection". NT7 circles the Sun every 837 days and travels in a tilted orbit from about the distance of Mars to just within the Earth's orbit. Potential devastation Detailed calculations of NT7's orbit suggest many occ asions when its projected path through space intersects the Earth's orbit. Researchers estimate that on 1 February, 2019, its impact velocity on the Earth would be 28 km a second - enough to wipe out a continent and cause global climate changes. However, Dr Peiser was keen to point out that future observations could change the situation. He said: "This unique event should not diminish the fact that additional observations in coming weeks will almost certainly - we hope - eliminate the current threat." Easily observable According to astronomers, NT7 will be easily observable for the next 18 months or so, meaning there is no risk of losing the object. Observations made over that period - and the fact that NT7 is bright enough that it is bound to show up in old photographs - mean that scientists will soon have a very precise orbit for the object. Dr Donald Yeomans, of the US space agency's (Nasa) Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, told BBC News Online: "The orbit of this object is rather highly inclined to the Earth's orbit so it has been missed because until recently observers were not looking for such objects in that region of space." Regarding the possibility of an impact, Dr Yeomans said the uncertainties were large. "The error in our knowledge of where NT7 will be on 1 February, 2019, is large, several tens of millions of kilometres," he said. Dr Yeomans said the world would have to get used to finding more objects like NT7 that, on discovery, look threatening, but then become harmless. "This is because the problem of Near-Earth Objects is now being properly addressed," he said. Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/2147879.stm
  17. I agree with the points made in the above post. Colour should be of no significance. Some days I prefer wearing pink boxer shorts, or my baby blue boxers with red lips on it (that was a joke). But seriously speaking, why should colour matter? Kachera's serve the same purpose regardless of what colour it is. This is as absurd as Bollywood.
  18. oye kidaah welcome to the forum .. I'm just the clown who entertains Daas n Daas with my antics
  19. I don't know about seeing our Punjabi culture the way it is now because it was much different during the days of Guru Nanak. The Punjabi culture was hijacked by the Indian government. We're now portrayed as drunk and illiterate Punjabi's, which is a common sight in Punjab. What's wrong with becoming "Westernized?" I know Singhs here who are "Wes tern" and have the same degree of passion for Sikhism as you. I don't think religion is being lost. Things will change for our generation. We're much more educated. You look at the older generation hard-core Punjabi's and you'll see that they don't know much about Sikhi because of the fact they were uneducated as youth.

  22. My fellow brothers and sisters, join me and let us travel to India on Air Canada's direct flight to New Delhi, where we shall protest the massacre of 1984 and rally for change ! Join me! And let us throw old but tasty gulab jamun's at the Parliament building! Let us throw old roti's that our mothers made for the birds. Let us demolish India's capital and do shoo shoo in the Ganges!
