i was recently looking at kirpans and came across this and it made me think why not use a combat style knife, when this type looks similar and just bears the khanda on it, also should not the kirpan be a practical tool and well as a spiritual / Ang of ours and gift from Guru ji, would not any appropriate combat knife with a leather sheath and a khanda put on it and presented before Guru ji and an ardas offered be acceptable, please give your feelings and advice about this. bhul chuk maf ji.

when i see things like this it puts me off 3ho, this is sacrilege and nothing else, surely someone should have told them that this is a shabad for going into battle and asking for the courage to do good deeds and not a hippy / chill out dance music, they have the bana and everyone looks at them and says how lovely they look and apne aunties and uncles beem from ear to ear but the truth is they have no real knowledge of Gurbani (obviously their are going to be some exceptions to this) i mean how could they have otherwise they would not be doing this!

I thoughts sikhs became saheeds rather than lose their sikhi, at least that's what Bhai Taru Singh JI, Bhai Mati Dass ji etc etc and the 4 Sahibzadeh etc did, or should they have accepted the alternatives offered and the blamed the sangat etc etc. ??

yes absolutely correct it is in Anadpur Sahib near to when we climb up the short hill/road to Sri Keshgar Sahib ji and where the stalls on the left hand side of the road actually continue down another road to the left Gurdwara Sahib is down that way i forget the name its also where the kashmiri pandits came to see Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji and where Guru i lived with there family and where Guru Gobind Singh ji was given the Gurgaddi. there is a well there too.

Actually agree with others not a good idea to use sri sahib in the west as it would give our enemies and excuse to try and get it banned.

It Is not a case of looking for approval, neither do we or should we need anyone's approval or care for anyone's disapproval our father Guru Kalgidhar pita has given us our identity and his approval that's all we need. i mentioned other communities because more and more people in our community seem to be against or even find it a burden to have a long beard. if there is a risk of injury for example operating machinery like a lathe, risk of catching on fire etc then obviously appropriate measures should be taken and you are quite right, but if there is no danger then why go against the maryada and tie it for example in one works in an office the what possible danger could their be. this is a tedious debate and does nothing for our panths unity, tied or parkash as long as the kesh are not cut i see no reason for us to be disturbed by this.

it seems so called apne are more against a full flowing beard than people of other communities, i have had many white/ english people pay me some fantastic complements about my beard words like. 1 That's what you call a beard. 2 your beard looks like a lions mane. if someone chooses to tie his beard then fine lets not fight amongst ourselves, but keeping your beard parkash is the correct maryada and it looks much better anyway.

relax its only a dream, its your fear of committing a kurehat manifesting itself as a dream, do ardas and ask to not have such dreams and be ever alert against the vices never stop your nitnem ,ardas and keep you rehat always no matter what happens. no need to do pesh just ardas, you may have other such dreams, take the positive from them, the fact that you are so shaken by such dreams means you are sincere in your sikhi and Guru ji knows this, look at them as warnings against such acts and how it would effect you if you were to commit such things. These are test and there will be many along the way, the path of sikhi is not easy and only Guru ji can help us, have waheguru in your mind constantly and jaap naam always. Gurakha wjkk wjkf.

lol must be one of a very few places in india where they follow rules or traffic rules. good question some people just dont know the reasons behind a particular rule/ tradition and so far no one has given a clear answer, i dont know why either.

please can anyone tell me that when we are trying to become one with vaheguru ji through naam simran meditation, does the mind fight back as to make us turn away, because sometimes i feel like there is war going on inside my head between my atma which is vaheguru or trying to reach him and my mind which is manmukh ?

1, we can remember our past lives but we just dont know how to, so how does he explain past life regression therapy. also why would we wish to know about past faults would this not weigh us down further and cause more grief, we should focus on our deeds in this life as i am sure we have done many bad ones, admitting it to ourselves is the first step. 2. after going through various life forms we are granted human life, if these entities have no free will and can not do good then they can do not wrong either so he has answered his own question, how many animals do evil or wrong deeds ? 3. the fact that humans are going up in numbers is due to more lust and our inability to control our desires and channel our kaam / desires towards wanting to be with waheguru as opposed to the opposite gender, Kaam is not evil or wrong but it has to be controlled and channelled correctly through marriage etc, as for animals going down in numbers the reasons are numerous, hunting, destroying their natural habitats, etc etc.

My delivery was very long but you know Guruji sent this really caring and supportive midwife who stayed with till my son was born. She already worked her two shifts and her shift ended 4 hours before my delivery. She overstayed without getting paid just to help me out. She was asked to leave but she told her staff that God was telling her to stay with me. Waheguru ! this maybe off topic but a similar thing happened when my wife was giving birth to our youngest child, she was in labour for hours and two midwives had completed their shifts, something was not right! So i left the room and went outside and did Ardas at the feet of Guru ji and when i went back in the room an asian lady doctor came in and within in minutes she carried out a procedure and my son was born.
