  5. my personal view is all of the translations of bania online contain many errors, are very limited and only scratch at the surface of the true deeper meaning of Gurbani. before making bold statements on Gurbani i should ask myself can i even properly pronounce the bani which i am questioning? if so, have i listened to and fully absorbed Katha of many Gursikhs on bani? is my rehit, jeevan and understanding of bani greater than those Gursikhs? is my rehit, jeevan and understanding of bani greater than all the great Gursikhs throughout history who kept faith in bani? are any of the 5 evils impairing my judgment (assuming i have the right to pass judgment on Gurbani which i don’t). after that if i have still passed judgment - have i asked Guruji for help to have more pyaar, understanding and faith in bani as my only saviour? if so and i still lack faith in Gurbani will i not accept the will of the Panth on the bani? if the answer to all of these is “NO – I know best” then clearly i bow nobody and the question i should have been asking is am a Sikh? topic-starter asked for more explanation which was provided but 1 or 2 individuals decided to debate over Sri Dasam Granth which is banned by Sri Akal Takhat. Any further debate should be taken up with them instead of on a youth forum.
  6. thought so we make looooads of errors like that so thanks for the feedback to improve the site. have moved it to: http://www.rajkaregakhalsa.net/audio/index...ngh+Ji+Jodhpuri

  9. I'm not surprised by this. The last time the Scottish police had something similar it turned out that the young boy who was alleged to have been attacked in some park had cut his own hair off because he didn't want it. It wasted a lot of police time, so I'm not shocked that the police are cool about this now. How embarrassing is that especially since Sikhs were protesting about it apparently...then the truth came out 2 different incidents Veerji but i agree the seriousness taken by the police and in the wider community has been hit by the former one. when Lakhivar Singh's turban was pulled off and he was beaten the security guards were witness to what took place and chased away the gang that carried out the hate crime so this is much more likely to have taken place. yet despite this no co-ordinated response and no comment from any sikh group.
  10. Agree with a lot of what is written above. although where in the article does it say Sikhs should work hand-in-hand with the Hindu community? it talks of a problem which is not exclusive to Sikhs and put the events of Coventry in the context of a meeting being held on the same day on a similair issue in London. the quote from a Hindu group in protest was probably used as no Sikh group has bothered to comment. The solution to this problem is one which our community has yet failed to provide. Are there any Sikh/Panthic equivalents of the Hindu Forum of Britain and the National Hindu Students Forum to counter them? These groups are derived from the HSS and RSS (widely believed to be the largest organization in the world with over 2 million members in India alone) and the proceeds of phoney charities like "Sewa International" go straight back to khaki-pyjama-wearing-extremists in India. hindus with all their differences in dharma can unite under one flag but what about sikhs? our groups are mostly either dharmik or political with little crossover or cohesion which is not in accordance with our religion. the hindu students forum is clearly connected to groups influencing policy in the UK whereas us sikh youngsters avoid both politics and inter-religious issues like the plague until these kind of incidents occur and we find we aren't organised enough to deal with them. from the response on the forum you can see we care about what happened in coventry but there will be no co-ordinated response to it and little to prevent it and similair incidents happening again in another part of the UK. bhull chukk maaf

  18. Exactly the same way. Half term just means MPs will sign when they get back on 19 February. So the procedure is: 1 - Go to www.WriteToThem.com and type in your postcode to get your list of MEP's and your MP. 2 - Copy the following: 3 - Click on your MP, fill in the details and paste the above letter into the box where you can send a message to your MP (editing the letter slightly by inserting your MP's name at the top and your own name at the bottom). So do the above or you can send the MPs letters, fax on line, emails or telephone !!
