  1. If sangat can't use the gurdwara hall which is made for special occasions, would you prefer them to book a party hall? I've been to the Gurdwara and seen that they have a separate langar hall which is just as nice/decent as the tea hall. I don't know whats its like abroad(outside the uk) but nearly all Gurdwara's in the uk facilitate for wedding guest to use a hall like at that Gurdwara. I don't see any disturbing here...

I dont see this money is gonna be spent where they say its gonna... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fund to prevent mosque extremism A campaign to prevent extremist beliefs taking hold in Birmingham's mosques and among the city's Muslim population is being launched. The £525,000 Reclaiming Islam scheme includes training schemes for imams and Muslim leaders. Mosque committees will be increased to reduce the risk of them being infiltrated by extremists. The government's national announcement of the fund coincided with anti terror raids in Birmingham in January 2007. 'Better understanding' A total of 11 projects will be funded by the money. Some will make sure women and young people take part in mosque development and also ensure mosques are aware of health and safety and child protection laws. Others will ensure Islamic and other faith-based schools develop a curriculum which promotes community cohesion while study circles will be set up to help young people develop a better understanding of Islam. Councillor Alan Rudge, cabinet member of equalities and human resources at Birmingham City Council, said: "As a city of many diverse cultures and faiths, it is important we make every effort to ensure all citizens within Birmingham feel they have a valuable role to play in society."

  15. http://www.pm.gov.uk/output/Page12552.asp Thank you for taking the time to sign this e-petition. This petition expresses concern about the possibility of planning permission being given for a large mosque in East London on a site near the London 2012 Olympic development in Newham. Those who have signed the petition and members of the public alike should be aware that Newham Council have confirmed that they have granted no such planning permission or received an application for a mosque as described in this petition. In addition, there have been no approaches made to the Government in terms of seeking funding, despite the widespread unsubstantiated claim that up to £100 million of taxpayers' money is being spent on this project. The Greater London Authority has also made a statement about untrue claims circulating about the Mayor of London's involvement in this project. This is available at: http://www.london.gov.uk/mayor/statement_170707.jsp (new window). Under the Town and Country Planning legislation, local planning authorities are responsible for the control of development in their area. In doing so they are required to take into account all considerations, including the views of interested persons and in particular local communities. The Government strongly believes that where controversial issues such as religious premises arise, all involved should ensure that discussions are conducted in a manner that respects the views of all sections of our communities and in a way that does not raise tensions in local areas. The Government does not endorse the language used in this petition or the associated emails that have come to light over the course of the petition.

Making and giving leaflets is a good idea and posting them door to door, not everyone will read em but it'll make a difference at least. So if anyone has any ideas on what kind of content to put in it, please post ur views. Madia is the place where the west will know who we are, and not confusing us with the Attackers. But we aint spendin our money in the right places, making loads of gurdwaras is where its all going!! If were in the media in a good way the west realise who the sikhs. But i think we'll stick to the leaflet for now loll
