  1. Fateh Ji, I feel there should be an effort to trace this document. And I'd request all to write to SGPC to take this up. They say that the book in which this document is to be found is in Aligarh University. All I can say its not so simple in India. Otherwise you tell me why is the Army not releasing the Pothis and Books it has in its custody? Yes some feel that acceptance of the existence of these Pothis and Books would mean an acceptance by the Army of burning the library. But, in my opinion returning the Pothis and books would reduce the heartburn of the Sikhs against the Army for Operation Blue Star. Yes it could be the work of a overzealous Sikh. Why not investigate and rule it out? Guru Rakha
  2. Fateh Ji, I feel the downturn will last throughout 2009. India is now feeling the effects. Growth has fallen, property has fallen. What is saving India is the domestic demand of a billion plus people. Indian Banks have not taken a hit like in US because Indian Banks have not let down their conservative approach while disbursing loans. Due diligence was not compromised. With such a bleak outlook I feel gold will touch $ 1500 by next year. This would also not be a bad time to invest in that Home or Office one was planning to buy. I feel the pointer to a recovery will be a resurgence will be a increase in Oil prices. Though this time Oil will not go to the record levels it went to last time. I feel $ 70 would be the upper limit. Guru Rakha
  3. Fateh Ji, Please view this link: http://www.realsikhism.com/science.html Sikhism does believe in reincarnation. Guru Rakha
  4. Fateh Ji, My submission is that where Daswand is mandatory for a Sikh its also mandatory that Sikhs ensure that Daswand reaches the right cause. I feel we should earmark our Daswand for various causes. And also do sewa of dhan with our mann and tann so that the Sewa of Dhan reaches the right cause and is not pilfered away. There is merit in the argument that a lot of the Sangat's maya is pilfered away by unscrouplous people. Like if you are getting Langar done your presence during the preperationa and serving as a Sewadar will ensure that the maya you've given is not pilfered. On the land..... well in Israel they have th Kibutz which is collective farming and living. Via this mode Sikhs can not only be gainlfully employed but also contribute to various causes in cash and kind. Guru Rakha
  5. Fateh Ji, There should be no problem. But it does depend on the Kaur you are addressing. My cousin calls his wife Singhnee. Guru Rakha
  6. Fateh Ji, What about the mass murderers like the late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi (big tree shaking infame), Tytler , Arun Nehru, Kamalnath , Sajjan Kumar who have visited London so many times. Seems their role in the 1984 genocide was forgotten. What about Amitabh Bachchan: I recall I too had posted a message about his role in the 1984 riots and about his impending worldwide tour. How many protested his coming to their City? And please do remember what happened in Gujaratr was a riot as there were casualities on both sides but in the 1984 slaughter of Sikhs as a genocide. I feel only those Sikhs who objected to the Congress Leaders visiting London have a right to object to Modi's visit. Guru Rakha
  7. Fateh Ji, (quoting from an article in Hindustan Times of the day on the front page) Before its official launch , Tata's much awaited 'Lakhtakia' car Nano made its first trip - from the Pantnagar plant in Uttrakhand to Harmandir Sahib in Amritar , where an 'ardas' was performed on Friday. Passing through Patiala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar , the two Nanos - white and silver - reached the Holy City late on Thursday evening. On Friday morning , the cars were driven to Harmandir Sahib , as per standing orders of the Company Chairman Ratan Tata. " It was a spiritual and a technical journey for Nano," said Rishi Dada , Managing Director of Dada Motors, authorized Dealer in Jalhandar and Ludhiana. Rishi who drove the Nano from Ludhiana to Amritsar, said Rattan Tata had desired the first car of the lot scheduled to hit the Punjab roads be taken to Harmandir Sahib to seek blessings for his 'dream machine'. He said 11 years ago, Indica's launch in Punjab, too had begun with the same ritual and the car turned out to be a big hit in both urban and rural Punjab. Guru Rakha
  8. Fateh Ji, Some do it because they make it their pen name. Some do it because they do not want to reveal their names. I was on another Forum and I used my real name, somehow someone who was not in agreement with me got my whereabouts from my name and started sending me threatening mails. I changed my name and started using a pen name, though now Ive reverted to my old name but still I use my pen name as my middle name. I don't think we need to bother too much about the names people use. Its the content in their posts that should matter. Guru Rakha
  9. Fateh Ji, This argument is used by people who propose 'Sikhi without Baana'. Though paintings of most Bhagats show them with hair and beard. Bhagats were part of the Bhakti movement that was against wrong religious practices. I feel what Guruji saw was their selfless love for Akal Purakh that made a impression on Guruji. But I feel why get into the reasons...our Guruji included Bhagat Bani and that should be all that should matter. Guru Rakha
  10. Fateh ji, I recall in the mid eighties Gurudwara Nada Sahib in Panchkula (near Chandigarh) was run by Nihangs. Sangat had literally dwindled because of the wrong practices and literal bullying by Nihangs. Then SGPC took over the Gurdwara. Today I don't think there is any Sikh or Khalsa in Mohali, Panchkula and Chanidgarh who does not go to Nada Sahib. I don't deny that SGPC has its follies. And individually there could be some SGPC Members and Sewadars who err as Sikhs, but principally there is a Maryada that is followed in Guru Ghar. I am not against Nihangs or SGPC Members or Sewadars, I'm against the wrong practices that are not in line with Sikhism. How can a religion that bans smoking be okay with cannibas? I hope that all sects sit down and come up with a unified Maryada. Our Takhats should have one unified Maryada. Guru Rakha
  11. Fateh Ji, After the recent celebrations in Sach Khand Sri Hazur Sahib there has been a call for bringing the Maryada in Sach Khand Sri Hazur Sahib in line with the Maryada in other Takhts. What about the Maryada in Darbar Sahib? Isn't Darbar Sahib the holiest of holy shrines of Sikhs? I would request you to study History. By just changing the name does not mean its affect changes or it gets sanctified. Cannibas is banned in Sikhism. And Society too consders Cannibas as wrong. I don't beleive in using Gurbani to insult anyone. And I do care for every Sikh (Nihangs are Sikhs too). Guru Rakha
  12. Fateh Ji, I'm sorry I have to disagree because Guru Gobind Singh ji gave the Gaddi to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Blaming the Brits is just an eyewash. Sikhs and Khalsa follow the Rehat prescribed by Guru Panth. Rehat is not a law that's binding ... its abidance is out of devoutnes and not force. I'm indeed surprised by the term 'binding'. And please do not blame Sikhism for the actions of vested interests and poltics. Guru Rakha
  13. Fateh Ji. See please do not get me wrong, I'm not saying Nihang Singhs are not Sikhs. The same rule that applies to Khalsa applies to Nihangs too. Can a Khalsa consume cannibas and call himself a Khalsa? Not a chance. Doesn't this rule apply to Nihangs too. I feel the Rehat that has been prescribed by Guru Panth stands the test of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I for one do not doubt a word written in Dasam Granth or Sarabh Loh Granth. Its my Guruji's Bani and I go waari on this Bani with my life. But for me Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is Supreme. Guru Rakha
  14. Fateh Ji, Anyone who contravenes the Rehat has to be held accountable. Sikh Rehat prohibits consumption of cannabis. Sikh Rehat says that only Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the Guru. In Sikhism it is all or nothing. One cannot have the Baana and ignore other Rehats as one cannot obey other Rehats and not keep Bana. Our Gurus did not consume cannibas before giving supreme sacrifices or will doing Bhakti, so why do Nihangs need this. Guru Rakha
  15. Fateh Ji, 1/ Guru Nanak Sahib ji founded Sikhism 2/ There is the Rehat that defines who is a Sikh and Khalsa. 3/ After chakoing Amrit one becomes a Khalsa and not a Nihang 4/ Nihangs sadly have formulated their own Rehat Sanatan Sikhism has a Hindu hue without a doubt. And this is the reason they try to pre-date Sikhism to before Guru Nanak Sahib Ji. They also give the Dasam Granth and Sarab Loh Granth the same status as Guru Granth Sahib ji, which is against Sikh tenets. Guru Gobind Singh ji gave the status of Guru to Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They mistranslate Dasam Granth and Sarab Loh Granth to butteress their claims. They talk of Sanathan Dharam and also on the Website there is a photograph of a Nihang doing 'ghota' and under the photograph its mentioned : 'Akali Nihang Singh engaged in making Ragra (process of making Shaheedi Degh) with is a protein drink laced with cannabis.' As per Sikh Rehat consumption of cannabis is banned. Just take a trip to Haridwar and you'll see a horde of Sadhus smoking and drinking cannabis. Ask them why they do this and they say it brings them closer to God. During Holi too people consume what Nihangs call Ragra and one gets to witness unruly behavior. I'm sorry I do not agree with this blending of Sikhism with Hinduism as its just duality. And Sikhism is against duality. Guru Rakha ps. In Sukhmani Sahib Guru Ji defines a Brahmagyani
  16. Fateh Ji, I am not casting any aspersions on anyone. All I am saying is that Akali Nihang Baba is a terminology used by Sanatan Sikhs and Sanatan Sikhs believe: "This form of Sikhsim that existed prior to the arrival of the British Raj in Punjab (1849), and is true to the original form of Sikhism expounded by Akali Guru Nanak ev Ji, the first living Sikh Guru. Modern Sikh historians trace the origins of Sikhism back to Akali Guru Nanak (1469-1539). However, Sanatan (traditional) Sikh orders - the Udasis, Nirmalas, Seva Panthis and Akali Nihang Singh Khalsa, think otherwise. Thes Guru-ordained groups, drawing upon the internal evidence from the trhee sacred Sikh Scriptures -Adi Guru Darbar, Dasam Guru Darbar and Sarabhloh Guru Darbar, trace the origins of Sikhism to before time" This is the first two paras in the Introduction to Sanatan Sikhi. I only hope that Akali Baba Nihang Baba Sahib Singh ji is not from this sect. Guru Rakha
  17. Fateh Ji, Well please do some research on Sanatan Sikhs and I feel things will become clear. Sorry if my comment has hurt some, the intention was not to hurt but just to calrify. Guru Rakha
  18. Fateh Ji, Akali Baba Nihang is a terminology used by Sanaathan Sikhs. As the name Sanaathan suggests this sect is influenced by Hinduism. http://www.<banned site filter activated>/htmls/durbar_menu.html Guru Rakha
  19. :Re: Fateh Ji, I know for a fact that Teji Bachchan smoked and was fond of her drink. She even cut her hair and sported a bob-cut. Its well known that she and I Gandhi were drinking and smoking buddies. She lived it up during her heydays. She was not a Sikh. Guru Rakha
  20. Fateh Ji, Please do view this link: http://ibnlive.in.com/news/bachchan-faces-...ts/52944-3.html One must also remember that at that time Gandhi and Bachchan families were close. Bachchan wielded a lot of influence and I'm sure benefited a lot from the proximity is both cash and kind. I recall prior to his Unforgettable Tour I had posted messages on both this Forum and Sikhnet. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=37869 Those wanting to let him know of how we feel why don't we all log on to his Bog and let him know! http://bigb.bigadda.com/ Guru Rakha Guru Rakha
  21. Fateh Ji, A Sikh marriage is the unison of two souls or one belief though there are two bodies. One must remember that kids of interfaith marriages usually are puzzled when it comes to Faith. If one is a Sikh I'm sure then one would want one's kids to be Sikhs. Its akin to one finding an elixir ... who would you give the elixir first? Of course the kid/s. Guru Rakha
  22. Fateh Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave his Sikhs the surname Singh and Kaur. Usage of other surnames thus should have discontinued. However sadly we continue with Jaath Paath. Some say that usage of Singh or Kaur causes a problem of identity because there could be more than a few Santokh Singhs and Nirmal Kaurs living in one City, town or village. Well that us why in Punjab villages the usage of Father's name is common as the middle name. In the case of Ladies after marriage the husband's name is used as the middle name. Some use their village name as the surname and soon this becomes like a surname. Like take Badal or Barnala. Sadly in many marriages jaath paath are still a consideration. Guru Rakha
  23. Fateh Ji, Bani tells us to eat little and sleep little. Sleep ealry and get up early. And once one gets into the cycle is becomes easy. Guru Rakha Disclaimer: I myself have not got into this cycle. Pray or me and give me asees that I do
  24. Fateh Ji, They try to tease us saying it’s 12 o’clock, It’s time they realized who they actually mock? The Invaders and plunderers took their mothers, daughters and wives, The brave Sikhs saved them even at the expense of their own lives. At noon and midnight when humans tend to become slow, On the captors the Sikhs dealt their tactful blow. They freed the captives and honorably returned them to their homes and loved ones, Treating this as their duty towards mankind and not for any selfish reasons. Today the timing has become a joke and they crack these jokes at our expense, Our ancestors did us proud and the descendants of the saved should have sense. Guru Rakha
  25. Fateh Ji, Please read this article: I too had penned an article on this sadistic humor: http://www.panthic.org/news/0/ARTICLE/1332/2005-05-15.html There's a Snicker ad on India TV. A goalkeeper starts looking funny and the crowd shouts 'iss ke toh chaar baj aye' a spin from 12 o'clock. Though I must say that recently the Indian ads have stopped making spoofs on Sikhs and showing Sikhs wrongly. Guru Rakha
