  3. Gurfetah Paaji! I am so sorry to hear that your facing so much rubbish from so called 'sikhs' regarding your God given Kesh. I know its easier said then done but I would'nt worry about what they think or say to you. Your are the son of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj! You are walking his footsteps. And in the words of Guru Sahib "Rehat pyari mujhko - Sikh pyara Nahen" (meaning I am in love with the character/discipline of the Sikh, I am not in love with the so called 'Sikh'). Also "Rehni rahe soi Sikh mera, oh sahib mein uska chara" (meaning one who keeps the commands is my Sikh. In that case, he is my master and I am his desciple). Vaheguroooo! You are right that not only do we owe it to Guruji for keeping our Kesh but also to all the Shaheeds who sacrificed their lives for each one of us to be able to freely keep our Kesh. I admire your love for Guruji for keeping your Kesh even though you have had so much grief. I know you will carry on and inspire more people to become Guru Sahib's Sikhs. May Guruji give you the power to ignore these fools. Gur merah sang sada hai nal. :D Khalsa mero roop hai khaas!
  4. Blessed are the people who get to meet such a Gurmukh Soul!

  6. Gurfetah I am sorry to hear that you are feeling like this right now. I totally agree with S1ingh as in Sikhi is adaptable to all types of worlds. Most likely you will get some negative reactions from some people but so what? You are not doing it for them…your doing it for Guruji. And he will be the only person who will still be by your side in the end. Also those people who have something to say now to you most likely will still have something else to say to you if you have cut hair. Maybe you should take some time out to explore Sikhi more and experience it. It is not just about keeping Kesh. Get to know Guruji. Like S1ingh said, its all about your own personal link to God. I personally believe the when people get sad its because they are losing that link with God. When you have that link there, you will have no reason not to smile every minute of the day. I am sorry I can’t quote this for you right now but I remember reading in a book recently that walking on Guruji’s path is not easy and everyone who does decide to will go through problems at the start. Look back at our history and you’ll see how even our Guru’s all went through problems. It is just the way it is. I have only recently decided to keep Kesh and try and become a Gursikh and I did go through a lot of problems for ages from family and friends. But I kept my faith in Guruji. I even remember times when I had doubts if I was doing the right thing and times when I wanted to give up. I think it was all just Kuljug stopping me from getting closer to Guruji. But all Guruji wants from us is love. Keep faith him. Remember him. Show him you love him through Bani and Simran and he will walk closer and closer to you. He always gives you back more then you give him. Now most of my family and friends have accepted me and everything is a lot easier for me and I know its all because of him. Another thing I want to say to you is that we are all just Humans. We will always make mistakes. We are not perfect – only Guruji is. So when you do or say something which you think is ‘bad’ don’t feel so down about it. Try and learn from it so you won’t do it again and do Ardas to Guruji to help you. The most amazing thing is that no matter what mistakes you make, Guruji never turns his back on you. You walk one step towards him and he will walk a thousand steps towards you. I hope I have helped.
  7. Thats is so amazing and beautiful and has touched me so much... Vaheguroooo
  8. Saturday 4th November 2006 - celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurab with sangat by watching a firework display at Gurdwara. At this age I had seen enough fireworks and wasn’t really excited about it but went along anyway to be with sangat. It was so cold. A lot of the people around me where in their own little worlds so I carried on quietly watching the display. It was a full moon that night and I can remember thinking that it looked so bright and beautiful in that dark black sky. Its light was glowing. The fireworks had started and I have to admit that it was an impressive collection. All sorts of amazing colours and patterns where displayed in the sky yet I still couldn’t stop looking at the moon. More and more beautiful fireworks came and went but I still couldn’t take my eyes off the moon in all its glory. That’s when I realised it…the fireworks are like the people and things in my life. They will come into your life and show you a minute of happiness and pleasure but then disappear and leave you alone to face the darkness of life all by yourself. People will walk into your life, love you, and then one day go and leave you alone in darkness. And the moon is like Vaheguroo, who will always be there shining light back down for you and showing you the way. Vaheguroo is the real ‘light’. The firework who lasts forever. He is always walking behind you. When you turn around and look up, he will be smiling back at you. He will always shine for you no matter what you may do or say wrong in your life. He is the only one who shines and shows the same love for everyone no matter who they are or what mistakes they have done. He is always there when you need him. People will think your wrong and walk away form you but Vaheguroo will always still be by your side. I believe Guruji showed me this imagine and he made me reflect on it like this as I don’t think I am anywhere near clever enough to make something like this up from the top of my head! He always talks to you through different ways. You just have to stop and listen. I don’t know when I found him or why he chose to come to this fool. But since he has walked into my life…everything has been so bright. “Gur mere sang sadha hai naal.” :D
  9. Gurfetah! I just recently started wearing a Dastar and I am actually getting all the 'stares' from my own family members!! So I do know how you feel and I agree that it can make you abit upset at times. When ever I see someone staring at me or someone makes a stupid remark, I remember and say to myself 'Khalsa Mera Roop Hai Khass' and it ALWAYS makes me smile and feel good! :TH:
  10. Gurfetah! Brilliant shop! One thing we really find hard to get in UK is custom made Baana/Chola. Maybe you could offer a service for made-to-measure Baana/Chola???
  11. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! A humble benti to the sangat, please bless us with your sangat/darshan, and attend the programme.
  12. I am gonna be another person who is gonna say that I do understand where you are comming from as I am in the same situation. But I am a girl which makes parents abit more madder lol The last thing you should do is feel isolated! It is clear from reading what you have wrote that you have alot of love for Sikhi. You only have love for Sikhi with Gurujis Kirpa and blessing. So he has chosen to walk in your life. So you are very blessed already therefore...should be smiling :T: Also, everything Guruji makes us go through is for a reason. Most of the time he is giving us a helping hand. Maybe you are going through all these family/people issues now because he is trying to making you stronger and is actually pushing you more towards Sikhi :TH: Dont ever feel depressed because he is always with you. Just have full faith in your heart and he will always look after you. I guess what people like me and you have to do now is learn from our parents mistakes and make sure we bring up our kids so that they grow into brilliant Gursikhs. I am sure there is a Gurdwara near by to you where you can meet like minded sangat. Even if you only go once a week it helps alot. I dont knw where I would be without my sangat.
  13. Oh really. Thanks, il look on a map online now. Should be no problem at all then!
  14. Just wanted to add that me and a penji are going to be making our own way from Birmingham. We will be catching the trian from new street and then a taxi from wolverhampton station to Gurdwara.
