  1. Not saying you are with the same group, but there is a fake baba who preaches along the same lines. One of his chele who used to be Amrtidhari, wrote books and helped run camps became a patit after meeting this clown and now spreads bs via http://www.eternalguru.info/ and satnaam.info. when he cut his hair I began a discussion with him to find out why but he was a lost cause, he thinks only brahmgianis can administer pahul, otherwise it's not amrit. No one is going to put their hands up and say I'm a brahmgiani only people who are not themselves at this stage call others by this name, there is no certification so how would we truly know, only they do. Maybe you used the wrong terminology but I agree that the Panj should be 100% rehitvaan Gursikhs and some element of testing performed on the sangat wishing to take amrit.
  2. you been watching repeats of Goodness Gracious me? :lol2:
  3. Argentina, purely due to the way the British have treated the whole Falklands issue...but predict a Germany win.
  4. The pointing feet question is a good one. In some countries even today it is seen as a sign of disrespect pointing soles of feet at a person. Back then therefore this form of etiquette may have been prevalent in India as well and who is higher than Guru Sahib to whom we can never give enough respect. Regardless, if most of us were to sit like that in a Gurdwara with feet stretched out instead of a chaunkra in a savdhaan position, it would be like relaxing at home right? When Guru Sahib and his Sikhs performed miracles it was within the confines of 'Bhana' and never for selfish means. There are numerous points in history where miracles could have been performed but were not (Sain Mian Mir, winning wars and therefore no history of sacrifices), in some where they were but did not go unpunished (Ram Rai, Baba Atal Rai and so on) and on occasions Vaheguru himself intervenes (Panja Sahib train, killing of Harnakash).
  5. Has anyone been go karting where a helmet was not required. I'd like to go with work at Sandown, but unlikely be able to drive without a helmet..obviously will not fit over my dastar. Wondering if a signed waiver will suffice..
  6. ਸੁ ਕਹੁ ਟਲ/ਕਲ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ Old post from Gurmatbibek. In response to a question whether we recite the Bhatt's name as 'Kal' or as commonly recite before taking vaak 'Tal' Kulbir Singh writes: Indeed the correct paath is ਸੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਲ and not ਸੋ ਕਹੁ ਟਲ. Bhai Hardaas the Hazoori Likhaari of Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee and whose written Bir is considered to be one of the most Shudh Bir has the paath - ਸੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਲ as opposed to ਸੋ ਕਹੁ ਟਲ. The biggest proof is that the internal numbering system of Gurbani does NOT backup a Bhatt by the name of Tal. All 10 Savaiyas of Savaiye Mahalle Dooje ke are written by Bhatt Kal and if the last one had been written by Bhatt Tal (such a Bhatt did not exist), then the numbering in the end would have indicated that as is the case with Savaiyas of Mahalle Chauthe ke, which are written by multiple Bhatts and the numbering system reflects that. Anyone, can go through all Bhatt Savaiyas and do the counting. It’s a great exercise to learn the meticulous numbering system that Guru Sahib designed to prevent infiltration of Kachi Baani and to enable us to count the Bhatts whose Baani is written in Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee. Presented below are two pictures of Saroops completed in 1714AD and 1837AD respectively. Both of these Saroops have the correct Paath ਸੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਲ as opposed to ਸੋ ਕਹੁ ਟਲ. The printed Saroops have such typo mistakes that need to be corrected. So how did ਕਲ become ਟਲ? Depending on the writing style of Likhaaris, some write Kakka and Tainka very similarly and many writers copied the wrong Paath and then Tal became more prevalent than Kal but as stated before, many old Saroops do have the correct Paath Kal. Guru Sahib kirpa karan. Bhul Chuk dee Maafi jee. Daas, Kulbir Singh
  7. If TPV follow similar principles to the Calgary committee and voted in, the youth will be a major success! Guru Sahib Kirpa karan...
  8. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20kcry_tera-panth-vasse-live-with-harjap-30th-june-2014_news Just watched the video, in brief the 21 member committee if voted in will: Perform a full and forensic audit of the Gurdwara accounts after sitting with Sikh Professionals who are at Director level in their respective fields Provide a playgroup for young children Intensive Sikhi classes over summer breaks katha, kirtan, Maharaj seva training - make youth self sufficient Social care for fragile persons Care home and prison visits, parchar at local level in the community Every 2 months committee will make themselves available to the Sangat for a Q&A, as opposed to the half yearly AGMs at present Committee to be answerable to 5 Piyare
  9. Agree there is need for change, just want Jagraj Singh to be aware of what he is up against. He should confer with the likes of Parminder Bal, Dr Pargat Singh etc so he does not make the same mistakes as the ISYF. The way Trustees are appointed is not clear cut, once in this position it can be for life but if a charity is run properly then in the interest of the charity length of service should be for a set period. When the troubles started at the old Havelock Rd Gurdwara the trustees appointed a government chamcha called Beant. He had the gates locked for a while and Sangat protested outside and courted arrest. This Gurdwara is allegedly raking in 250K per month so India House has a firm interest in maintaining an element of control of who comes into power and what is said on stage. Worth a read http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/detailed-guidance/trustees-staff-and-volunteers/the-essential-trustee-what-you-need-to-know-cc3/#b2
  10. Was speaking to my father about the committee over the weekend. The ISYF who took over this Gurdwara and many others in the UK by force and tried to implement the selection process using Panj Piyare failed. The main reason was the trustees (Johal off licence Empire), they are old school and backed all the iffy committee members that paid lip service to India House and still do. They caused trouble during pro Khalistan speeches, in typical fashion a few dastaaran were removed in heated scuffles, the police were called in on a several occasions and would arrive with shoes into the Darbar Sahib and eventually dissolved the illegal but Sangat backed ISYF. Without the support of these trustees and advice from some of the older and educated ISYF guys admittedly few in number! this movement is likely to come to a premature end.
  11. If you listen to their vichaar and kirtan you should be able to draw your own conclusions.
  12. Just because one is not educated through School it does not mean they are not intelligent and can't make political decisions. If you are a Sikh you should know there is no higher knowledge than Gurbani and reading it allows for pure clarity of thought and understanding of Khand/Brahmands!! Sant Ji was not a mere mortal, if you listen to Katha of Giani Thakur Singh, you will realise the amount of Bhagti Sant Ji performed from an early age. Who is to say they were less educated than Mandela? Wordly education without Dharam can and often does mean the individual falls into the Ego trap and judgments become clouded. ਪੜਿਆ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥ That scholar who is full of greed, arrogant pride and egotism, is known to be a fool. ਨਾਉ ਪੜੀਐ ਨਾਉ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ o read the Name, and realize the Name, and contemplate the Guru's Teachings.
  13. Most interesting, especially the fact that the edge alignment has to be spot on for the Kirpan to inflict maximum damage and for a clean cut. Thanks!
  14. Electing George W Bush was not smart either. Google Bushisms for a laugh.
  15. Place him and his cronies on donkeys with blackened faces and ask the people who they have wronged to hit them with shoes until the end. Wonder if he'll agree to this :-)
  16. Sometimes wonder what the background is of folk that like bashing their own kind. Sikhi originated in Punjab, and people who are now living comfortably abroad like criticising their own roots and kind. I love Punjab and Punjabis. The feeling one gets when landing at Amritsar airport and driving through the pinds and jameen cannot for me described. The decline in the morality of some Punjabis 'not specific to this case' is somewhat driven by the political situation we have endured over the last few decades. They could not kill us through physical means, so have resorted to what the US did to the Black Americans & Australia to the Aborigines. But Guru Sahib will no doubt shine his kirpa on us one day, that is a certain.
  17. All Punjabi's should not be stereotyped or tarnished due to the actions of this man.
  18. Nice voice. Pity they made errors with the English spellings, the glaring one being Guru Mera Paar 'Brahman'? instead of Gur merā pārbarahm gur bẖagvanṯ
  19. The Panj Piyare are Guru Roop and suitable Gursikhs can make decisions in the relevant countries. I see no reason why a pilot office of the Takhat (not a Takhat itself) cannot be setup in countries where large numbers of Sikhs reside. Alternately, Sikhs abroad should have their concerns heard, have a voice and be represented in the Takhats in India through representatives in these countries. The only reason we are asking for these 'seats' abroad is due to low gurmat standards of people in charge. At one time it used to be a central authority for Sikh affairs but is no longer representing the interest of all Sikhs, just the ones loyal to Badal clan. Most of the recent Jathedhars were spokesman for the Badals. The Assembly at Akal Takht has been described in 1783 A.D. by a contemporary English man George Forester who was a traveller in 1783 A.D. as under : “The grand convention, called in their language Goorimotta, was that in which the army met to transact the more important affairs of the nation; as the declaration of war or peace, forming alliances, and detaching parties on the service of the year. The amount of the contributions levied on the public account was reported to this assembly, and divided among the chiefs, proportionately to the number of their troops. They were at the same time obliged to distribute a certain share of this property to their soldiers, who, on any cause of dissatisfaction, made no hesitation in getting their service, and following a more popular leader. Subordinate officers were established for registering the political correspondence of the state, and for providing war-like stores; and the administration of ecclesiastical affairs was entrusted to a certain society of religious, composed chiefly of the descendants of their original priests, but they did not possess any influence in the temporal regulation of the state.
  20. Tully is a biased chamcha and serves the interests of GOI, would not surprise me an iota that his knighthood was achieved through GOI leverage! One can find YT videos of his lies when he claimed his foot touched Sant Ji's teer, then he changes his account later on. I'm sure I read somewhere he converted to Hinduism, whether he still is or not I cannot say.
  21. The idea of pilot offices of the Akal Takhat in all major cities with a large Sikh populous has been discussed off and on for the last decade if not more :lol2:
