  1. hehe..okay okay I did say I'd post a 'real' picture when I get time Pyareo..this is my doggy Spartacus..but we hardly ever call him that, it's Sparty Singh!! Whenever we do paaht/put keertan on he's always lying down near our feet, and during ardaas his back is straight and he's just watching everyone, oh and of course the best is that he could eat hand fulls of parshad..lol...he's so cute..this is a picture of him resting after a long day of barking at mail men
  2. My doggy looks exactly like this..later today I'll post a picture of my dog (not his breed clone lol) but for now that's what I have..what a bundle of joy!!
  3. Dear brothers and sisters..waheguroo jee ka khalsa..waheguroo jee kee fateh..I just spent the last hour reading all the post on the Tapoban message board talking about how everyone came into this wondrous path, from their birth to present. So much inspiration!! I thought how about we all start it here everyone post.and speak from your soul.. So those who haven't posted...please do so... looking forward to reading everyone's posts...
  4. Veerjio, Do you know about Bhai Manmohan Singh?? He used to apply 'charan dhoor' of sangat to his throat when he was young, praying that his voice become better..He uses proper raag and gets the entire sangat soaked in bani at samagams... I have heard of gyani's and 'professional ragi jathas' using those tunes, but even professional ragi jathas these days are so fake, I get nothing from listening to them..it's just sadness..There has to be honest preym and bhagti there..see keertan is like seva (like langar) you are PRESENTING/GIVING this to the sangat. You must be pure (clean) INSIDE and out, and prepare/present only with love & understanding..Otherwise anyway can go to the studio and record shabads.. I don't think at a Raisabhai/Samagam anybody would even THINK of playing a hindu tune for a shabad. Most samagams I've been to (either Dodra or AKJ) are mostly played in some raag, many people do it in the correct raag for that shabad, but some don't..they are learning..gur kirpay karay. Why would 'mummy jee' get upset at him for listening to hindi songs silly brother?
  5. 7. This was from tapoban..you must read the story about Bhai Randheer Singh and his wife..their relationship, love and respect for each other..simply amazing..I guess as a woman those things are what i learn most from..So much equality, and truly marriage is 2 souls in one body.. Please read: (taken from Tapoban message board) Author: Kulbir Singh Date: 07-08-03 14:35 Mata Kartar Kaur jee the wife of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee was a very chardi kala singhnee. She and Bhai Sahib had a very good and loving relationship. Of course this relationship was based on Gursikhee principles and not on worldly love. She like a pati-barta istree always ate after Bhai Sahib had eaten food. She learned all these great Gurmat principles staying in the sangat of a Brahmgiyaani Bibi, when she was young. She only ate after Bhai Sahib ate food and she used to wait for Bhai Sahib late night and only ate when he came home. Such was her love for him. Doing sewa of her Brahmgiyani husband and following Gurmat to max, gave her spiritual powers. In those days there were no telephones but she always knew where her husband was and how many singhs were with him. At one time Bhai Sarvan Singh, Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee and two other singhs were at the dhaab (a place in the fields where Bhai Sahib used to do bhagti) that Mata jee arrived with food for exactly four singhs. Bhai Sarvan Singh who had a little bit of ego left fell at the feet of Mata jee and said that he used to think that only he had the spiritual powers but now he had seen Mata jee and this had deleted the subtle ego he had left. I found out about the loving relationship between Bhai Sahib and Mata jee af ter reading a poem that Bhai Sahib wrote in the memory of his beloved wife. I will see if I can translate it some day.
  8. Veerji, as I tried to make clear in my previous post I do know (and love) that Guroo Jee teaches us this bachan again and again..it is most touching..but I just don't think you should write (SGGS) if it's not from Guroo Jee's bani..that's all..Of course that message is conveyed, but it is a different thing to say Guroo Jee 'said it'. I could say many things that Guroo Jee had taught me, but my quotes are just dust compared to the jewels (bani)...
  9. Veerji..this is something Guroo Jee continually teaches us..and certainly a must for those attached to his lotus feet.. I'm just wondering veer what panna is this from?? I haven't been able to find it, I may be wrong but I don't believe this 'quote' is actually from Guroo Jee's bani, but rather a quote Yogi Bhajan said, again I could be wrong, and of course this is a bachan guroo jee teaches us..but I'm talking about the actual quote/panthkee..would appreciate the panna. thanks...
  10. From the reply I got..I think my questions were mistaken for something else..I did say they were 'innocent' You said...: I never said truth must be black/white, it is something very abstract, and we are ALL seekers of the truth, we all experience it on different waves (times) in different forms. I don't understand how my question even infered to this reply?? Hunji, I know it's History and I do agree it is relevant to Gurdev Pita Jee..again honest, abstract, innocent questions.. I was never questioning relevance..I did state this topic was very intriguing.. Again, these were the questions that popped into my mind first.. Also, I wasn't asking on a challenging note, I was asking out of my limited budhee on such topics. :H:
  11. thank you 'bhaaji' lol not 'bhenji'..he is a Singh puthar
  12. Veerji, sorry for the ignorance, but can you perhaps be a bit more specific...What makes these men 'Nangs'? I understand they may wear bana/state certain things, but would just appreciate some more info
  13. waheguroo... some people will always fuel hate my dear brother, make things out of nothing, it is just the way the world works. this is the sangat's board all our welcome, and all should gain something from the experience. I agree, no one needs to boss anyone around..again some are like this, let;s just concentrate on our Sikhi and be nice to all around us..
  14. very intriguing... just an honest/innocent question: are there any answers to these questions which are absolutely true?? Won't everyone have their own view of things?? :T: Also, I think once these questions are answered/looked into, we should see 1) how they are relevant 2) what we get out of them and 3) how to implement it into our Gursikhi in a productive way...
  15. veer, please let the admins handle it, this is sikhsangat and not sikhawareness...
  16. umm..it did say it was talking about meat and SIKHISM..so what's the problem?? Why Meat is Forbidden in Sikhism by Jaswinder Singh
  17. Born in Kitchener, Waterloo Lived in Brampton, phir Mississauga then Faridabad, Haryana, India and for the past 8/9 years living in Texas
  18. waheguroo this is so beautiful.. har jugeh jugo jug jugeh jugo sadh peerree guroo chala(n)dhee || In age after age, through all the ages, forever and ever, those who belong to the Guru's Family shall prosper and increase.
  19. Dear Sunny, I've been following the Air India case very closely, and I have yet to find a solid piece of evidence even slightly linking it to one of these men. For Ripudaman Singh Malik, it's all based on their 'eye-witness' whom the defense have proven she made these accusations out of revenge... How do we know if Sikhs were involved?? Please name/show just ONE piece of evidence. Just because it happened after the attack on Darbar Sahib, did you ever think this could very well be a planned set-up by the Indian Government?? If Sikhs 'were' involved, I don't agree with the form of attack chosen, but the sword must be wielded at certain times. Look at Holocaust Survivors, the amount of support they get from the government, same with POW's, and those who were oppressed--African Americans managed to get Affirmative Action. Have we got anything from the Indian Government since 1984?? It's been 19 years!! Our widows are still suffering... Learn some manners before you judge? Sorry that makes no sense We shouldn't judge at all I didn't realise there were formal ways of 'judging'
  20. Just something I whipped together the other night..needs a lot of work, but wanted to share guru pyareo... Faster and faster on this eternal path, entwining souls dance. Devotional sensations expose in the drowsiness of love. Sweet drops of nectar fall. Caring glances entice. Promises made, hope created, bliss felt. Gates swing open, with affection waiting. Heart and soul are yours, Mind and body yours…
  21. Waheguroo... May kirpa be showered upon them!
  22. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!! Wow..thank you for sharing this with the sangat, I'm so glad such rehitnamas exist! In Guru Jee's bani there is such a strong emphasis on equality and the sacred role of a women. In Mahan Kosh, Mata Sulakhani Jee (Guru Nanak Dev Jeeio's wife) is described as a 'Guardian of the Faith'. Marriage after all is sangat, the merging of souls to walk together on the spiritual journey to their Husband-Lord. Women are of such exquisite nature, it's really up to us to live in that nature, otherwise it is too easy to fall from 'grace'. Cherish and live up to the duties of sangat..the rewards are eternal & priceles..
  23. That IS something Lalleshavari wrote, i remember reading through it on sikhawareness a few days ago, I think it was under the 'Kesi vali kuriyan' thread... Let's not worry too much about their moderators jeeio, but your point is very valid, plus I think moderators should be unbiased, knowledgable and attained a certain 'age' (spiritual and physical). I know for sure two of those moderators are quite young...From the comments I read on this site (sikhsangat), the administration members have a solid grip on things, and I like how they keep everything gupt..
  24. Dear ones.. I did a search for this answer on the Sikhnet Youth Q/A forum, here it how they responded. Also, after reading this what are the sangat's thoughts/concerns?? Vichaar is always healthy Gursikho..have a blessed day!! Waheguroo Jee Ka khalsa, Waheguroo Jee kee Fateh!! Thank you for your question. It is a very good one. Certainly, as GurSikhs of Wahe Guru and Siri Guru Granth Sahib we are dedicated in humility and devotion to the qualities and legacies of all of the 10 Masters who gave us the Guru Prashad of Sikh Dharma. It seems however, probably for a number of reasons, that the guiding and healing hand of Guru Ram Das ji has had a uniquely effective and compassionate role in bringing Sikh Dharma to the lives of western, non-Punjabi people (around the world). Only Guruji Himself knows this is true, but it has been our true and direct experience. Guru Ram Das, as you well know, was the 4th Guru, and He was particularly known for healing the sick and the disturbed. He founded the site of the Harimander Sahib as a center where the entire world might be healed. Perhaps it has been because western civilization has been in such powerful darkness and disorientation that Guru Ram Das has had such a direct role in the inspiration of western people toward Sikh Dharma. (And, as some who have generations of Sikh ancestry behind them have become confused and blinded by the worldly materialism of western societies, they too can be reached and illuminated by these graceful blessings and teachings of Guru Ram Das). He himself had such humble beginnings, as he came to Guru Amar Das ji as an orphan, yet he rose to the highest heights to occupy the very Throne of meditation and bliss (Raj Jog Tahkht Dheean, Guru Ram Das). His mastery presides over all Yoga (Union) with Wahe Guru. Here in the west we needed such a special blessing to transform at the radiant feet of Guru Ram Das. He blessed us immensely. Thus we have become inspired to offer our heads at the feet of our Spiritual Father, Guru Gobind Singh. Black crows have been transformed into white doves. Sparrows have been transformed into the hawk and the eagle. Humans have begun to master their bestiality in transformation to lions. The Sun of the Khalsa is rising in the West. And all this we owe to the kindness and interventions of Guru Ram Das, through whom our destinies became transformed. Many blessings to you, and thank you for asking. May Wahe Guruji bless you forever. Humbly, Krishna Singh Khalsa http://www.sikhnet.com/sikhnet/youth.nsf/3...33;OpenDocument
