It is ironic that Sikhs are justifiably criticising the ban of the film as an attack on the democratic concept of freedom of speech. However what about the attempts of some Sikhs to prevent people like Sarbjit Singh Dhunda from speaking at Gurdwara`s? It seems freedom of expression is only worth championing if and when it suits.

Bhindranwale being alive or not is an issue. It was created by sections of the Damdami Taksal saying Bhindranwale is alive. Any questioning of this claim was met by aggression and hostility and statements like "you calling Baba Jee (Baba Thakur Singh) a liar". I went to one of these Damdami Taksal meets as a matter of curiosity a few years ago. The speakers clearly stated that Bhindranwale is alive. He was taken from Golden Temple complex by 5 Singhs. They showed a video of Baba Thakur Singh Jee at Wolves Gurdwara saying all this. Now these very people are refusing to say he is alive. They are saying he is in "chardi kala" because it is finally dawning on them that they are being made to look stupid. A lot of these very same people are pro prakash of Dasam Granth. Again, any questioning of this is met by aggression and hostility. Intimidation is being used and attempts made to stop those who oppose the prakash from speaking. This post contains no derogatory remarks of Bhindranwale or Dasam Granth.

No, I just want the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib Jee to be preached in Gurdwaras. Not rehitnamas or other texts. Is not Guru Granth Sahib Jee supposed to be the be all and end all of Sikhi?

If people believe Sikhi is the only way to God - means no one reached God prior to Guru Nanak. The Guru Granth Sahib Jee itself states the opposite. One needs to love GOD and live righteously. All other things are secondary. Meaning anyone of whatever religion can have God. As it states in the Sukhmani Sahib - "the Name of God resides in all Godmen of any religion". And further the "best religion is singing Gods praises"

The youth, carrying the portrait of slain militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala and armed with naked swords, pelted stones at the 'Annam' theatre in a bid to disrupt the show, but timely arrival of police foiled their attempts.
