  1. Wholemeal pasta instead of white is better, same as brown rice rather than white, and wholemeal bread rather than white. Daal, sabjia in olive oil thorkaa rather than butter thorka, or other healthy oil, is better for you. biscuits, cakes too much sugary food not good. Beans, lentils, good. fruit, salad all good. mcdonalds, chips, fried food and all that not good. Auley means olives... Has anybody had cous cous, and do they like it? Roti good, paroteh if u can digest them ok, but less on th butter. dahi, milk all good, but if u cannot have fullfat then semi-skimmed or skimmed is better, i use organic semi-skimmed, taste is much better too. organic food is good if u can afford it. Basically i personally have found thru my health condition experience, the best foods are daal/sabji roti, and they fill me up more than western food. If you dont have a health condition then yoghurt milk butter in moderation is ok... Crisps have now n again, just for taste, but instead fruit,. other alternatives,eg:dried fruits better.. coriander, mint, jeera, tumeric, chillies have good properties too. I find punjabi food made with right ingredients is much better for me, rather than western foods...anybody have this issue too? Ps: if anybody has an eating disorder they should go to their doctor, rather than getting help from elsewhere first.

  3. We not gettin a tree this year, waste of money n time puttin up then down again. The real ones make a mess, and the artificial ones look cheap, and then u got to pay for th tinsel, balls, this that and what not, and they take up space in th house, so u cant see th tv. Was goin to get a little make it urself foam one from ryman, par main nai £2.99 laune dho hareh peele rang de tukrea de.. and its to do with th pagan thingy majingy, whatever it is....and its only for kids like decoration th colours look nice to them. So instead i bought somethin for my vase like one of those twig branches thingys from sainsburys, that i can use all year and it matches th colour in my cushions. evi ineh paise dunia laundi christmas chrusmas teh, jad koi church nu janda v nai, rang barange rasiyaa buubhereh jehe tanglende shahth te, te happy happy hojanda sara kuch... oh and i forgot, when my grandma was alive, we used to sing "happy chresmass to joo, to jooo" with th happy birthday tune, coz we didnt know wat else to sing. so its not exactly as if we were celebratin xmas for a reason, just coz everybody else was doin it.
  4. great cool idea. how would it work on skype? in yahoo could work in a conference.
  5. another way to get less caffeine in tea is this: 1. Add boiling water in the cup/mug with teabag as usual 2. Wait 30secs, squeeze the teabag, and take it out and put to one side 3. Empty the cup/mug of water 4. Put the same teabag back into the cup/mug, and add boiling water again, 5. Hey presto, half the caffeine of the teabag gone. something like that, health professionals advice to do this, if u dont want to drink de-caff
  6. oh thankuji so much penji, will look at it. i personally found myself some effect it has on me listening to raags, more than other type shabads. i do not understand the raags, but do in my own way, cannot explain it, but since i started listening a in darbar sahib, i felt i heard them before, and connected in a way which i cannot even describe if i try.
  7. i dont cope with dhoof, agarbati, or perfume strong fragrances either, it does irritate ones senses and makes it harder to concentrate or sit for long when they are used or sprayed everywhere. agree with S1ngh. we need to use other methods to purify the air, or less irritable ones. instead of like walking into boots fragrance counters, and getting knocked out by the strong impact of them.
  8. wow, im just gettin into raags, not heard many but of those i have, i love. how can i learn more about them and listen to more as my search on youtube does not get very far. thanku ji.
  9. penji sorry to hear that you are in this situation. yes we should respect our elders, but there is so much respect you can give. if they are being like this with you now, it will probably carry on until it will harm someone. that someone being you, and you should do something about it now. you have lost your baby and if you feel you cannot cope you should ask for help from somewhere. the doctors are a starting point, for what your loss. also talk to your husband and tell him exactly how you feel. there is no point in pleasing and hiding your emotions if it is affecting you, as in the future it may get worse and harder for you to deal with. maybe suggest your own place but nearby to your in laws, so you are not completely away from them. this way you have your own space and also they can visit or you and your husband can visit them. if both in laws are not treating you right, if it was me i would ask my mother in law like i would my own mother, what is wrong, and to say what the problem is. tell her how you feel, it may make a difference, or they may not be aware of what they are doing. the father in law using those words is not right, tell your parents. Guru Amardas ji gave women equal rights, so they would not have go through suffering. this does not mean be higher than men but on same level so as to receive the respect where due. do simran, but you have to ask for help yourself to get out of situations like this. keep your mann strong from within and always think waheguru is with you, which they are. there is a group which maybe able to help. obviously you do not want to break away from the family and try your best to do the right thing morally but maybe talking to a counsellor from there will help you. there number is on their site. Waheguru twada bhala kare, http://www.kaurageous.com/kaurnect
  10. I heard bottled water not good for us? is this true, something to do with sulphites or something, so has confused me now.
  11. awww dont cry, i think u are doing gr8 at ur age, gettin up so early to do paat n simran. You are so disciplined at a young age, I'd love to have a son like u that is soo disciplined and into his faith. You seem passionate about Sikhi, thats soo lovely. Not sure why ur mother is thinking the way she is, there are lots of Sikhs with turbans n beards that have gr8 jobs. Whatever happens in life in the hands of God, whether they are turbaned or not. There is no need for u to cry, be strong ur doing gr8. I agree that its not easy to take Amrit with the original poster, and need to be prepared for it, but I personally feel being passionate about taking it at ur age is good, as there are many people who wished they had the chance when younger, such a gr8 age to be on the right path, rather than get diverted the wrong way, where later on u may do by mixing with wrong company. Hope all goes well with you, dont stress about it, and hope Waheguru keeps u and ur family happy.
  12. the granthis from the gurdwara would best advise you on this, as they have the experience of doing the seva, assuming they will be the ones doing the seva? when we had a paat, we asked them anything we were unsure about. hope that helps.
  13. Evil things love places with no sucham. If your home is filled with meat/eggs/alcohol you cannot be fully protected. Your body/mind houses your soul so it is in a similar situation as well. yes i heard few people say this too, so wanted to confirm it. thankuji for pointing that out, as on other topics similar never seen anybody mention the meat and daru bit. also gurbani will help as much as we do, but the evil things attraction was not sure about, and we should not go anywhere but to Maharaj ji for the help of god.
  14. paji or penji sim, sorry dont know your gender, please calm down, nobody should tell what prayer to do as obviously you are going through a bad time. Dont do anything stupid. if there is nobody you can talk to call Sikh helpline (0845 644 0704) or (0799900 4363). please talk to somebody, or message somebody on here, you will get help. ending it all is not going to solve anything, or end the suffering in the world. there is always a way out. please talk to anbody you feel comfortable talking with. Waheguru is always with us even in bad times, and things will get better. i was very dukhi, i am not saying everything is perfect now, but better than before. Waheguru does everything for a reason, you have to trust them with your heart. problems are always there, but this is why we are in this world, god also sees how we cope with the pain and bad things that happen to us. Gurbani is not to be done to end it all, it should be done for rakhea, protection. nobody should do Gurbani for wrong reasons. dont give up, be strong, when you become mentally strong, your mann will also become stronger. but you really need to see a doctor or professional, you are not alone.
  15. if one feels they are affected by these things, does not eating meat help? is it true these things go to those that eat meat, so just paat on its own will not have full effect? any experiences or suggestions?

  18. lol more barfiii and gulab jamans@1994, its not funny but innergear made me laugh with th skype, was it innergear, sorry cant remember
  19. Penji yes they are human form, but for me if I was to have darshan of them, or if was born in that yug, they would be god to me, I would think god gave me their darshan, same as Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj ji, is our living guru and I should respect them the same as god, thats my thinking anyways., Agree with previous poster, dont know how its said properly, but think its Guru hai Shabad, Shabad hai Guru, thus Shabad is Truth, Guru is Truth, Waheguru is Truth too.
