1. No matter how backwards and absurd it may seem what Harpreets opinions are i understand some points she is saying. There are two views to this, some Will think it is ok to do seva when on their periods, and others Will not feel right inside, or do some types of seva. Harpreet is only giving her own views which she is entitled to. No need to belittle one of their views just because we dont agree with them. As somebody may not agree with ours. Has anybody ever asked an elder learned Gursikh female their views on this topic? It would be interesting to hear their views. I personally do not go, if i can manage it. This is my own personal feeling, and not what anybody has told me. Reason being as i find it difficult to sit, and dont feel comfortable in regards to hygiene. Also my mann does not allow me to feel the want to go and that time, i just dont feel right inside, as i would like when doing seva. But that's my personal opinion and whatever anybody thinks would be their opinion which i would appreciate. But my opinion also does not mean i would not go to gurdwara, it would depend on what day i was on or how comfortable i was strength wise. But or me, my first thought would be i want to be clean as i can manage as when we have shower and go with clean clothes to do seva of Maharaj ji, even though all they want is love, i would try to be hygienic myself towards them as they are a King of Kings you know what i mean. And this does not mean i am calling anybody else dirty as the menstrual cycle is created by God and they would understand why i would not want to go gurdwara at that time
2. What about all those chidren born into Sikh families, that dont have any knowledge of Sikhi, that dont have Singh or Kaur in their names? They also get married in gurdwares, I personally feel its quite confusing as where to draw the line. Some will get married in the gurdwara, and know nothing about Sikhi at all, just because they happen to be born into a Sikh family. No offence to anybody, what about those from other Sikh faith that dont have Singh or Kaur in their surname, but call themselves Sikh, and they get married in a gurdwara? Its the gurdwara committee's role to ensure the rules are praticed. If our gurdwaras cant even get that bit right, then there is something to worry about.
3. I think Mand5 should come back to this forum, and start learning about Sikhi..As he/she is only going to go and get more brainwashed. The reason i am still on this site is because of what I am learning from it and realising what Sikhi is all about. I am not perfect, and do find it difficult at times to do paat, but at least now, i know the difference between fake babe, and the truth. I dont know much about Radha Soami's, but I do know that if somebody gives you naam as you say, and its secret that should not be told to anybody else, then thats a cult, not the truth, as god's name is for everybody, which Sri Guru Granth Sahib do not hide, or do not have to hand out. If you want the real naam then it is up to you to take the step towards God, not for others to give to you. @Mand5 nobody is being nasty to your baba, or to your faith, they are only stating what they have been through and what the truth is, and they are only saying to you to help you. You are taking it the wrong way round as you know no different, Sects, cults, other groups also existed in the Guru's times, not just now, they have been going on and on for years. You calling Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, merely is book is disrespectful. You dont understand this as you have chosen somebody to be your Guru. This is the reason why Guru Gobind Singh ji decided to have Sri Guru Granth Sahibji as the next Guru, so as nobody would have to bow down to any person, and gurbani would be amar forever, whereas in some faiths if the guru dies then another one has to be replaced, and who is going to that job? Our Guru is neverending and does not die, and is infinite. 150yrs is not a that long, our faith has been going for longer and will carry on, nothing can destroy the bani of Waheguru, people may use it, play with it, amend it to attract others, but nobody and nothing can change the truth, which always has, and always will exist. You are the one that came on here to ask questions, now you got the answers it hurts you, why does it hurt you? Why does it hurt so much if you are so strong in your faith? Nobody has attacked your baba physically have they? Everbody is entitled to their own opnions. I really hope you come back onto this forum, to learn more about the right path.. it maybe hard for you but if you really want to know the truth then it is up to you to do the work too, you will not be given it on a plate. Why dont you give Paneer Monster a call, what are u afraid of? Are you an RS scared follower?
4. Agree with you/ Mand5 has lost the plot definately. as he/she cant see anything else beyond what he has been entrapped in for 15yrs. He/she says are not brainwashed, obviously are. When somebody is brainwashed they dont realise it until something bad happens to them, or until it too late, like it did with me, I lost a lot coz I was stubborn until the end. They will carry on believing what their brain has been taught, they know nothing different, and even if they want to change its going to be hell of a journey. Stubborness will not get you anywhere, there is nothing wrong with learning other faiths@ Mand5,just because you are following yours, doesnt mean it is the right one. For the last time@Mand5, they are Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, not bible. Bible belongs to the Christians. You talk about others offending your faith, but you are not exactly a Sikh are you, if you are using vulgar language back to Paneer Monster. I been through a lot of brainwashing, but never to this extent did I disrespect Maharaj ji, mine was a different story thou, I always respected other faiths for what they are. Mand5 seems to have been fed hatred towards Sikhi, either directly or indirectly....and thats not a good thing. Mand5 will just have to learn like the rest of us did and still are as regards to what Maharaj ji are all about. Its such a shame having been through something similar myself years ago, that somebody else going through it. But you watch Mand5 when u start questioning your idols or whoever u believe in, then watch how the tables will turn, when you start to realise the truth and that maybe you were on the wrong path, then see when the time comes how they all change towards you. Nobody is going to help you when you need them, no living person, only Waheguru will help you. Thats the only way you are going to learn, makes no difference what anybody says to you, only God will make you realise what is right and what is wrong. And I have to say Maharaj ji, are the truth, they are the Jyoti-Jot of the 10Gurus, being our living Guru, to God ~I am grateful I found even at the end. Everything else that uses gurbani is fake. So thats coming from another one that was diverted the wrong way.
5. Lol , that was funny. I thought i was bad with my hands washing lol, this guy got stuck in the sink haha haha.
6. @1994, this is wat i found, should understand it now. Pir (Sufism) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Pir Dastgir, from the Mughal era Pir or Peer (Persian: پیر‎, literally "old [person]") is a title for a Sufi master equally used in the nath tradition. They are also referred to as a Hazrat or Shaikh, which is Arabic for Old Man. The title is often translated into English as "saint" and could be interpreted as "Elder". In Sufism a Pir's role is to guide and instruct his disciples on the Sufi path. This is often done by general lessons (called Suhbas) and individual guidance. Other words that refer to a Pir include, Murshid (Arabic: مرشد‎, meaning "guide" or "teacher"), Sheikh and Sarkar (Persian/Hindi/Urdu word meaning Master, Lord).
7. That is a type of sleep paralysis, i also get this. But it is nothing to do with ghosts negative things. In punjabi people call it dubaah. And people think its related to ghosts. Which it is not. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Sleep-paralysis/Pages/Introduction.aspx
8. I had a few, but scared me then, if it happened again probably wouldnt. Once I was upstairs in my room, and heard like bells sounds, like u get those little bells, or discs u hit together to form a sound. At first didnt take notice thought somebody playing music outside, as we lived in a busy area. Then felt like something was wanting me to go to the window. It was very strong impact, so when i looked out of th window, I saw on the corner of the street, a figure looking up at me. It looked like a man, but was around 8pm so couldnt see clearly, and was wearing like a orange type cholaa (robe) with th disc things in his hands. I thought my eyes were playing games so turned away. But then same thing happened again, as if it wanting me to go to it., And without me realising ran down the house into the street and when i got outside nothing was there. Also used to hear footsteps at night around 3am going up and down our stairs. Which used to wake me up, that really scared me, so used to wake up the whole family, as it freaked me out. And when I used to see nothing was there. For a while my family thought i had lost the plot. But these occurences was so clear I still remember them. Also had like invisible hands touching my shoulders, but this one wasnt scary, it was like soft hands which I could actually feel but on seeing as usual nothing there. Also the last house i used to live in, one room was soooo freezing cold, even with the heat on, it never ever warmed up. Didnt like that house at all. I've had quite a few occurences and still do sometimes, remembered another one, went to my moms house after long time. And at night around 3am heard horses galloping. The noise was so heavy, i couldnt sleep, so woke my mom up who sat with me, and it still continued, and all i kept saying was the horses have come they have come, neeleh ghoreh hai. She got worried as to what was going on. But next day i was fine. And never happen again. Noticed with simran and paat doesnt happen so much, but even then somtimes does.

Dowry

Doesn't matter if she is working or not. penji this is totally wrong and i am disgusted at them asking this from their future daughter in law. This is indirect dowry, they are already planning their future which only god knows. And i feel would only be marrying you for matlab. Only god knows Wat Will happen and it only shows they got no faith waheguru. This is exactly the things Guru Amar Das ji Maharaj stopped when they gave equal rights to women. I went through this situation when my family were approached by relatives for my hand in marriage. The guy asked me direct if i would help him financially in future if he wanted to start a business. So i said no to his face and when the relatives asked my answer to the rishta, i said no even thou everybody was saying think about it he is nice guy, bla bla. If that's the thinking before marriage then that's Wat they want.
10. @kalyugi paji, i know wat u meant, i was joking too, in innergear langwaj. lolz....chaamali janda dino din. his spelling is gettin worse. but yeah ur right he is a good laugh, sometimes good to get a bit of humour.
11. There is a god, that is why we are here. main vi is traa sochdi hundi c, ke rab nai hai, kuch hunda kio nai, ina paat kardi, eh woh, rab kio nai sundeh. hun vi kehi vari kendi hundi ke rab kiteh hai, jad ini duki hoo. Paji waheguru ji hege, je naa hunde twanu kich nai peni c is site teh aundi teh apne feelings dasan di. tusi bureh nai hai, u are not bad, circumstances make us think we are bad. insaan de halaat jo hunde us nal asi apne aapnu maada samjan lag pende. kise di banan di lorh nai, waheguru da bano, te Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji nu mano. Maharaj ji apay twanu apna banalende jad asi usnu yaad rakugeh. kehi vari lagda sanu keh rab sundeh nai, par sianeh kende neh, "Rab de ghar deharh hai, andehr nai". This means is sometimes takes time for waheguru to gift us with something, and remember it is not always that they should gift us with khushian and sukh. The dukh we receive is part of our karm, which we should accept. Once we start accepting our karms, then waheguru will do mehar on us. There are people that have waited long long time for waheguru's blessings. i have waited over 15yrs for something, maybe almost 20, but have realised that my karms play a big part in my dukh. All we can do is keep doing ardas and I feel when i stop asking, there is less tension on myself, and waheguru's name seems so sweet, that i do not want to ask for anything. There are lots of bhagats and people that do paat day and night and for years, so i think to myself, why should waheguru give something to me, when those people are happy with what they have. They live in waheguru's hukam, and i have also started accepting that, when we realise to keep in their hukam, then only will life be less stressful on us. Its not easy, but we should not give up, if you knew exactly how dukhi i was, u wouldnt believe. Its brothers and sisters from this forum that give me support now and have from the beginning. to be honest without this forum, i would have been much a worser state. Please do not get depressed, if you eve want to talk, dont be afraid, its good to talk our problems to others who will listen, as they are also sent by waheguru. See waheguru does exist, as everybody that has read your post, are sent by god to help you. i feel we shouldnt be asking god for their darshan, god doesnt give darshan on demands. they give darshan when u least expect it. Mangna chad deo, fikar na karo, rab twanu darshan dinde ke nai, rab sareh pase hai. physical darshan di lorh nai. Je tusi darshan lene rab de, gurdware jao, Maharaj ji moreh matha teko, te apay darshan miljande, othe twanu darshan milugeh, hor kitho nai. Maharaj de kol bhetke darbar sahib ch paat suno jad granthi karde, te samjo ke waheguru tade nal bolde. That is the real darshan. and jo tusi amritvele utde hai, darshan miljande, twanu ki pata waheguru tade nal nai bhete hunde? jad tusi paat karde odo rab de darshan milde, kio ke jo gurbani vich hai, oh sab rab tho, waheguru, akaal purakh, sache paatshah tho gurbani ayi hai direct. tusi dharti te bauj nai, je ida hunda, fir asi sareh dharti te bauj haa. dharti teh bauj koi ni hunda, sirf sade halaat, jo dukh zindagi ch milda, us nal sanu mehsoos hunda asi bauj hai kio ke sade control ch nai hunda kuch. jad sanu confidence hundi, te apne te yakeen hunda fir asi bauj nai samjde fir zindagi changi lagdi. Dont worry we will remember you, but dont leave paat. without paat, ur life is nothing. je paat karna te kuch mangan nu naa karo. apna farz samjke kari jaoo. zaruri ni hunda ke paat kuch paun nu jaa ke koi cheej le karna penda. veko kine amritdhari brothers and sisters hai, jo paat karde duty samajke. Matlab le paat kade ni karna chidaa...kio ke sab kuch pela hi waheguru da hai, te una di marzi hai jo una ne sanu dena te ki nai dena. isliye we are the beggars and they are the givers. Asi hai mangte, te waheguru hai daata. Waheguru....
12. I agree with you@ ks55, he did seem to go on a bit about the whole issue. But its hard for us to judge either side too, as both of them are humans and neither is god. Only god knows the truth. If somebody said something against me which was totally wrong and ruining my reputation, even thou i dont care anymore about what anybody says, it must be hard for him to be in the limelight and so many people think highly of him. So he must feel he has to speak up and stop any false allegations against him. But i do agree he did seem insecure, and i felt uncomfortable watching it too, as i thought only a bit would be mentioned, then the rest would be the diwan. But then again, that sukhwinder singh is telling another story, and also cannot tell whether he is lieing or telling the truth. I've decided not to analyse it too much now, as i got my own karams to deal with. And the truth always comes out, so god will only help those that are right in the end.

Anxiety

I think you are having panic attacks, you should see your doctor about this. There are ways to control it. But you need professional help if you are feeling this bad with it, and are unable to control it. Dont be afraid of seeing the doctor, he/she is there to help you. You are not going to die, Waheguru ji will help you. Do ardas to Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, and say Maharaj ji please help me, please stop this anxiety. Take deep breaths slowly, and just relax. Listen to the following and close your eyes, and do the simran as it is being played. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEFGu6XeQi0 Chaupai Sahib paat will help with the fear, do it everyday. http://chaupaisahib.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=64 But please see the doctor is you feel you cannot cope.
14. I think its mostly daughter in laws that do this. Or for respect to elders. I used to do it with very elderly relatives. But they have passed away now, so dont do it nomore. Yes it does originate from india, a lot people do it there, they do it do get ashirwaad from elderlys which is better than getting baduba. But there is no point in touching feet when the respect is not inside one's mann, and heart. Respect should be within a person and given in other ways too. Touching feet doesnt mean anything if you have no feeling inside of you and just doing it for the sake of it. My mom hates it if I do it to her, but then again when massaging feet that also involves touching the feet. But yes it should only be reserved for Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
15. Can you ask if an illness/disease can be eradicated completely with gurbani or would it only reduce it? And also, how do people get better completely if they are so ill from sants/mahapursh when they had no faith, and others do not? And why are the stories always in the past and no recent stories as such. And if somebody had diverted from sikhi and became ill, what should one do? Also if one is unable to do nitnem and wants to become an amritdhari then what should they do? As people that cannot read or write do simran as they cannot do nitnem or listen to it instead. Thank you ji.
16. The only TRUE gursikh/sant/khalsa is Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Maharaj ji are the only ones that will listen to the pain of your soul, they are the only ones that have there arms open. Go to the gurdwara, and sit in front of Maharaj ji and let all your worries, troubles out. Talk to them, and they will talk back. Sometimes we go through bad phases which make us depressed and lost, Maharaj ji are the only ones that will help us to become happy again. Trust in them and then see the rewards. The human gursikhs, sants, mahapursh, are there to guide us too, and they too do paat. Gurbani is the only thing that will help.
17. I listen to his diwaans sometimes. They are easy to understand, and he has directed a lot of people into taking amrit, which is a huge thing to do. A sant/mahapursh can be from any religion, and only a true one, which are rare will understand and know that they should not divert you from your faith. I believe the muslim peer could have told him to hold sehaj path, as I once knew an aunty who had been diverted from sikhi to another faith and she went to see a baba who also believed in a muslim peer. I am not saying we should go elsewhere apart from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, but this is the story of a lady that did and the first thing he said to her was she forgot Maharaj ji for somebody else. I dont know the full details but briefly she was very ill, and got better as the man guided her to do path, and now she is an amritdhari. If the man wanted he could have manipulated her. I also met this baba too, and in my mind kept thinking i dont want to go to see him, that its not right and had bad feeling about it as we were going to meet him. The first thing he asked me was if i do path, and not to stop doing it. But then he passed away as he was very elderly, so was unable to go again. Then I realised that there is no point in going to other places, when everything is in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. I like the story about Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, when he was ill when he was younger. It inspires me soo much.
18. Dont get manipulated or brainwashed by anybody. If anybody from any other religion came to you and said the same thing, you would probably want to change to that religion too thinking it makes sense. You need to do your own research as obviously you do not know enough about Sikhi. Why are you researching another religion when god has given you your own? Dont get diverted like i did, its not worth it. And when everything is destroyed then you will realise that the only true righteous way is Sikhi. It may seem like you are not gaining anything from Sikhi, but thats only because you dont want to, and your mann is easily distracted to other ways rather than the truth. It may seem like all rosy and lovely what he is saying, but honestly its not. Are you a girl or guy? Believe in yourself only, why would god have given you birth in a sikh family if you were to change it. You will only hurt and make things worse for yourself if you leave sikhi and thats my promise.
19. Because they don't mix with punjabi community. If they live a "gora" area then they are more likely to speak english with them. Some parents although do teach their children punjabi, but others like others said, do not know much punjabi themselves, or have gone to colleges, universities with no punjabi or very few friends. If they have not been speaking punjabi themselves then the children are only going to learn what their parents speak. I think its great to be bi-lingual, multilingual. They should speak punjabi at home aswell as english, so the children are able to speak some punjabi instead of just saying "Dod" for milk, and "jiddaa jidaaa kidaa jidaa" with everything,.lolz
20. Sikhs should go to Waheguru (God) for help, and those that are sent by God, such as professionals. Don't ever give up penji, as we sometimes think God is not doing anything to help, but sometimes we too have to speak louder to get heard. Or it takes bit of time to get there. Don't think God is not with you, they are always with you, and they will listen if you put all your faith into them, don't doubt waheguru. Do simran, keep doing simran all the time. Any of these, paat, simran, listening to shabads, that makes you put your faith and trust in waheguru. But dont stress yourself out at the same time, as if you are going through so much, you need to be able to think with straigth mind, even though it's very difficult. Honsla kadi ni chadna penji, waheguru sunegeh. You can contact a number of organisations to get help, and please don't be afraid to contact them, they treat everything in confidence, One penji mentioned Kaurageous .com in another post. There is also Sikh Helpline, Sikh Awareness Society, Coreproject. If there are other organisations for sikh females in these situations then others please write them on here, as I forget the names and contact details please.
