  1. Yudh 2005 Results 2005 Yudh Champion - Harpreet Singh - California Gatka Akhara 2005 Kirpan Spinning Champion - Gurkaran Singh - Miri Piri Gatka Dall - Age 18 2005 Dumalla Champion - Zora Singh - Age 12 - Malton, Ontario Gatka Tournament Results 1st Place - Harpreet Singh, California Gatka Akhara 2nd Place - Gursheel Singh, 16, Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji Gatka Akhara Toronto 3rd Place - Teghbir Singh, 18, Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji Gatka Akhara Surrey, BC Message to the Sangat Vaheguru Je Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Je Ke Fateh, By the divine blessings of Satguru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Yudh 2005 was a great success. Yudh is only in its third year and we are always learning from each event on how we can promote and work to making it bigger and better every year. This years Yudh unlike the years past featured the largest number of competitors from outside of Toronto, with competitors from Ottawa, BC, California and as far south as Houston. A special thanks from all the organizers to all the sevadars and participants who made time in there busy schedules, to attend and help make Yudh a great success. We would also like to give thanks to all the Sangat who made time out of there day to come and attend this years Yudh Gatka tournament. Guru Sahib blessed us greatly this year, by providing ideal weather, and blessed all the Sangat by providing some great matches, where we witnessed many new faces who came out and surprised many. We can only hope that Guru Sahib provides us with the ability to carry on this seva, so that we can continue on this path and work even harder to make next years event even better. In the coming days, we will update this site with media (images and video clips) from this years Yudh, so stay tuned. - Dass Jasdev Singh (From Yudh.net)
  2. So I got an exam question worth 30% and I'm hopeing someone who's taken econ might be able to help... I scanned and attached a copy of the question. Only need help with question #3, but if anyone can help with the others that would be appreciated... (Admins: I know its the wrong section and all, but it was urgent, and wanted it to get some views )
  3. Kandola Ji, Throughout the course of a day, many sevadaars perform langar di seva and throughout the day the utensils used to serve Langar are bound to touch the plates of those eating. It is per Gurmat Maryada that Langar not be served in this fasion (where one's karshi touch's the plate of those eating), but through out the course of a day many individuals are bound to let this slip up happen, and not knowing will continue to serve rather then to replace the karshi. Those Singhs in Taksal who are exepected to serve or on occassion do serve as members of the Punj Pyarai are expected to keep the highest degree's of soocham, since it is per Gurmat Maryada that one not eat jhoot. It is for that reason that those who do serve as part of the punj, will go to the back and serve themselves. As for pangat, Taksalis are not against sitting in Pangat and eating Langar. The reason some take it back to there rooms is usually just because they may have guests over, or want to talk openly with other Singhs, which they feel they couldn't while in Pangat without causing a disturbance or attracting attention. There is nothing against sitting alongside others though. Inderpal you raised a good point, in your last comments and I agree with what your saying. But on the flip side if one has ego, does that justifty one to openly participate in kaam or krodh? On the contrary, we fight one thing at a time and try to manage what we can. We fight ego by conquering ego, we conquer kaam by fighting kaam, same with krodh etc... So just because ones not perfect does not mean one should abstain from rehit, since its all an effort to do the best we can. It is however quite hypocrital I find when individuals wear huge shastar, dress up fancy, talk big about keeping huge amounts of rehit etc, but don't read the bani alongside it to keep up. The external rehit we keep is only as good as the internal rehit that we practice. Otherwise you end up like a hallow tree. Also just to clarify the Akal Takhat comment, its not as much about Akaal Takhat being its own Jatha as much as it is a way to label one by the Rehit and vichaars that they follow.
  4. Really depends what your looking for. You can always add GPS to any pda/pocket pc after wards, but I figure if your looking for a GPS system your better of bying something from Canadian Tire or whatever other car place you got, since they do end up cheaper. Pocket PCS are better then PDA's in my oppinion since they are easier to get simple tasks done on. But all depends what you want it for. Personally I reccomend the ASUS models.
  5. With fireworks after having everything hotspotted, and sliced. You just need to export the file as a webpage (file / export). Once exported, you can use Dreamweaver to import that fireworks html file. You can then add your text etc onto the page from there. Treat the fireworks images that you want to add text to as background images for that cell so that you can have the text on top. Hopefully I made sense . It does get tricky and there are some tricks of the trade, when it comes to having templates that expand, and nearly all that comes with practice. As for photoshop it follows the same routine, just a few different steps, which I can't remember of the top, since I avoid using photoshop for web design. - Shinda
  6. The tensions between the Mayor of Mississauga and Malton started happening last year when City of Mississauga made malton change its route from the one it was acustomed to for the Sept. Nagar Kirtan. Speakers on stage belittled the Mayor for not allowing the "cooperative Sikh community", and the mayor lashed back saying it was a fire risk to close down Morningstar streets. The same thing occured this time. The city would not approve the desired route of going up morning star saying it was a fire risk, and the alternate route (going up derry) was going to cost around $40, 000 not making it feasable. So the desi way was chosen instead where you insist that Sangat use the sidewalks upto Humberwood and then progress from there but then again when you got 20 - 30, 000 desi's your not going to get them to walk single file, so police where forced to close the roads regardless. As per the 2 Nagar Kirtans the split began in 2000. At the time the only gurdwara they rejected it was Scarbrough as they felt it was not neutral and fair to them. Malton and Dixie both played the maryada card, saying that all Nagar Kirtans traditionally involved going from Gurdwara to Gurdwara, and that it was beadbi to hold Maharaaj saroop at the CNE where raves and such parties take place. Also hukamnaamay where used and last year (or maybe it was the year before), Singh Sahib Vedanti (like him or not) approved, and endorsed the Malton-Dixie Nagar Kirtan, (no hukamnamaa was released however to this effect). The CNE thing was later changed, but with the larger of the turnouts being at Malton and Dixie the 2 Nagar Kirtans remained. Last year the Nagar Kirtans where held on different occassions, which is always positive as it gives sangat two times or a chance to go to one if they can't attend on the set date. This year with the new commitee Dixie changed and decided to go with the Downtown Nagar Kirtan. The problem with the dates comes about largley because there are very few weeks after Vasakhi in which a Nagar Kirtan can be held without it being "too late", and often times the date selected by the commitee's is the only one that they can get close to Vasakhi, so setting them on seperate dates requires a lot of pre-planning and pre-organization, which often times does not happen by one group or the other, and not like one can blame them after all they are still desi.
  7. Saturday Nights diwaan was packed beyond belief. People where sitting, standing every square inch they could find. Halls, langar hall, stair wells where all packed with people. There was not a place in the gurdwara that you could be without being shoulder to shoulder with someone else. Even outside and around the gurdwara people where standing in masses just to get in. Got to the point where the police, fire dept and ambulance where brought to the scene, because of the rush, and the fact that it became a huge fire risk. The lighter side of the night came when after police and fire dept demanded that things be brought under control that Bhai/Sant Ranjit Singh annoucned that he has never in his life before asked that people go home, and that has no clue how to ask Sangat to turn back, and left that for Daljeet Singh who upon making the announcement, Sant/Bhai Ranjit Singh read a dharnaa in regards to never leaving Guru Sahibs side regardless of what happens. (So as you can imagine very little sangat left). The program lasted until about 10 then anand sahib and ardaas was done. The programs on Sunday where no different with packed out halls, and to get decent seat one needed to arrive 30 mins if not earlier. After that you where sitting in the packed and sweaty gallaries. His programs even brought masses into the Gurdwara at 4 AM where an otherwise empty main hall was filled beyond its capacity with everyone doing Simran. Sant/Bhai Ranjit Singh will be doing there last program tonight at Malton (Monday) at the normal posted times. Starting at 7:30 and going usually up till 9:00. Tommarow they will travel to BC and hold 3 diwans in Vancover/Surrey. And after that travel to Alberta and hold diwans in Calgary/Edmonton before travelling back to Toronto, holding 3 more diwans and then heading back to India. Amrit Sanchaars will be being organized in all areas and those details can be gotten from the respective parbhandaks. The attached image although blurry may help in giving you an idea about how much sangat was there and this was Sunday morning before Sant/Bhai Ranjit Singh's arrival, when people where coming just to get a seat.

  11. I was wondering if anyone had images of Ontario Khalsa Darbar Dixie AKA Dixie Gurdwara. I'm looking for a nice quality image, prefferably one from the side parking lot. Also if anyone has images of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Stadium that would be great also, please post them in this thread, or you can email/pm me @ shindasingh44@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance..
  12. From that above report it seems like GKaur was spreading misinformation ie rumors.
  13. Kandola Ji, The Singh you made reference to is Ranjit Singh who is from California, (States). He has been with Baba Ji for the last year, and has been travelling with Mahpursh around the world. Sant Baba Takhur Singh Ji is at fragile age but with the Guru's blessings continue to breathe. They have given bahcan to Sangat that they will not leave this worldy plane till Sant Ji arrives and will until then watch over Taksal. A lot of youth who travel with mahpursh are from the West, (Canada, UK & the States) and many have been raised thus being fluent in english.
  14. Vaheguru Je Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Je Ke Fateh GKaur, I agree Sangat has a right to know about what happened, but there was a reason why people didn't go jumping on to message boards with such news mainly to prevent rumors from starting up and let such matters get dealt with and the facts found before everyone starts coming out with there own theories of what happened or who is to blame.. The facts of what happened are as: 1. The theft happened between 12:00 & 12:30 2. The golak was removed through the side hall (exit facing Dixie Rd) 3. The golak lock was broken and the top removed. All the major bills where removed. 4. A suspicious van showed up at Dixie and came through the Khalsa Drive enterance. The van seemed lost, and as it approached the Gurdwara slowed down and looked as if it was about to do a U-Turn. The Singhs at the time where all standing outside, trying to figure out what had happened and noticed the Van. 5. The van was followed as it sped away, and later stopped at 21 Division, where a few Singhs talked with the suspects and the police. 6. After talking with police no money was found on the persons of large amount (ie no golak money was on them). From what was said at the time an investigation was going to take place in regards to the matter but, I have not heard anything since, and am not sure as to what the committee’s actions where since. The question of how it happened at Dixie with so much sangat being there is simple, everyone was in the back either in the gym or up in Hall 5 and the Singhs who where outside where on the opposite of the building. It is suspected by much of sangat present that those who where being followed where the thieves, as the van did not have license plates, and the occupants where apparently cleaners who had worked at Dixie a few weeks back (thus would have known where the money was kept etc) and had no business there that night, especially around midnight. I have left out some information as I am uncertain about the rest. Almost all Gurdwara's in the Toronto Area are equipped with camera's as of theft that had been happening by many punjabi' theives in the past and as such where installed to act as a deterrent. Golak theft is nothing new and is something that has been going on in Gurdwaray all over India especially during the 1980's when Khakoo's where known to be robbing Golaks all over India. The theory of it being the comitee’s fault seems ludicrous, but I will leave it at that.
  15. Contact Ontario Khalsa Darbaar Sahib (Dixie Gurdhwara) They usually have monthly amrit sinchaars..
  16. Directions to most the gurdwhara sahibs in brampton made simple (you'll need a map nonetheless) take Bovaird to airport rd Go towards Mayfield and you'll run into a small new Gurdhwara being built. Go the other way towards Derry and once you notice the change and smell, you'll know your close to Malton. Now from bovaird go onto Dixie towards Derry and you'll see a white fortress known to many as simply Dixie. Take Bovaird North towards Caledon and turn right on Goreway and you can find Tapoban. Dixie and Malton have busses that go straight there. Programs worth going to... Malton has Amrit Vela Programs from 4 - 6, where you may get a rare glimpse and be able to do darshan of the ever so wonderful Baba Navjot Singh Ji Khalsa. Dixie's got Tuesday and Friday night simran from 7-8 on Tuesday (Someone may want to verify this) and Friday from 8-9. Thats where you'll prob find most youth.
  17. DAMN...that was intense... Imagine giving a honey bee an drip of amrit.....
  18. Actually Navjot the shastar used is called an Aaraa....Nagani is the spear with the curvey blade.
  19. just from looking at the main page it looks more like punjabi pal....
  20. Rochak Malang, I agree with you 100%. I never thought of it like that but it makes perfect sense.
  21. awsome video. I suggest admin try and merge this thread with the ones abouve so that it doesn't get lost.
  22. Due the overwhelming success of the last March's Holla Mahalaa Gurmat Camp that was held at Malton, another one may be in the works for August. More information coming most likely in early July.
  23. What does Kalaa Afganaa beleive Gurmantar to be if not Vaheguru?
  24. MKhalsa, bRhm igAwnI Awip inrMkwru ] I think what it comes down to in the end is arth. Those that are Anti-Sant say that bhram-giani and sant is reserved in bani for Guru Sahib alone, while others disagree. This is a whole different topic in it-self which I'm sure has been debated and talked about, many times, and being, that it comes under being a controversial topic, I wont peruse the matter. As per your other conclusions/comments, As I am not of the level to comment on who is/isn't a mahpursh I wont be haste into judging who is one and who isn't here, and will agree that my opinions are based largely on your third conclusion. In regards to your second conclusion, I find it hard to believe that mahpursh could have contradicting views with one another in regards to general gurmat. For that reason alone I find that it is those that record the jeevans of such mahpursh to be at fault, or that those mahpursh had those views when they had still not obtained the spiritual stage, which they may or may not have obtained later in life. I hope that clarifies my views which you brought to question. Singh47, if Nanaksar continues to promote such stories then I do not agree with them in that respect and can then only thank you for bringing this to my awareness. When Mahpursh Sant Baba Kartaar Singh Ji was asked about these stories, mahpursh gave the answer that they where not true. They talked about the encounters of Sant Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and Sant Baba Sundar Singh Ji with Nanaksar Mahpursh and described the encounters as being pure love between two brothers. In the end Guru Sahib alone protects and preserves the honor of his Saints, and all will be judged for there own actions. sMq kI inMdw doK mih doKu ]
