  1. It's the BSD (unix) back bone that gives mac the security it needs. As far as windows being all Microsoft, well we may give them credit for making an effort to retool things the fact remains that Windows for the most part takes it cues of what it should do or add into its system primarily from mac. At the very least I recognize Mac's ability to recognize good code and rather then try to remake it completely (Dos vs Unix, Aero vs Aqua, etc.) just take it and rename it.
  2. I would consider Windows being the dark side. Both Linux and Mac are based on the unix core, and Mac has even at times borrowed code from Linux, such as safari taking from Konquerer and there have been numerous other occasions, also seeing as how Windows and Linux both try to copy the Mac's UI as much as they can, really does say something about the Mac OS in general. I would have to give mac points over windows considering it realized the value of sticking with the original OS core instead of trying to make there own.
  3. you can dual boot using boot camp, which lets you boot into windows, the newest version also lets you run windows virtually so you can be running both windows and os at the same time, and then reboot into just windows. You could also use parallels but parallels has been known to have performance issues.
  4. you could get the ndiswrapper which lets you use your windows drivers on linux, its usually the only way to get broadcam wifi cards to work.
  5. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6104490811311898236 check this video out. I don't think it is possible!! Although some open source IDE might be available. To run macromedia apps or other window's apps you need to get Wine. http://www.winehq.com if you're using Ubuntu then using the terminal just type in sudo apt-get install wine and then enter your password and it will download and install wine for you. Then just insert the cd and use wine to run the setup and it will install just like it would in Windows. If you want to run Windows you have two options either a dual boot or you could run a virtual machine, which will let you run windows, but it depends what exactly you need to do. 6. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh Peaceful protest by Saadh Sangat It is with folded hands that we request your presence on Sunday, October 22nd at Premier Banquet Hall, 2360 Lucknow Drive, Brampton, at 11am-3pm for a collective boycott of the scheduled seminar being held by Inder Singh Ghugga and participation in a peaceful protest. Inder Singh Ghugga is an avid supporter of the notorious panthic enemy known as Kala Afgana who has been excommunicated by the Akhaal Takhat for his anti-Sikhi activities. His presence in Toronto, Ontario of the last few weeks has left a bad taste in the mouths of many Sikhs in the Greater Toronto Area and worldwide as well. He is known to ferociously attack and manipulate basic Sikhi principles. Below are just a few of his many extensive attacks on the Panth. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was pressured by Muslims when travelling to Mecca and voluntarily consumed Halal meat. When asked about evidence supporting this, Ghugga replied that this was a part of his imagination. During the martyrdom of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, he was unable to retain consciousness during the torture and therefore became unconscious. These words indicate his desire to portray Guru Sahib as an ordinary human being. When challenged in regards to this, he was once again quick to admit it was a figment of his imagination The usage of words such as “Badmaash” and derogatory slurs in reference to Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In his own literature he has deemed the very pillar of Sikhi, Naam Simran as unnecessary along with Mool Mantar and Gurmantar. The importance and power of Naam Simran which is stressed within each word of Gurbani is completely dismissed by Ghugga in his literature Even the importance of Ardaas is undermined within writings by Ghugga Publicly challenges the authenticity of Banis contained in the morning Nitnem such as Jaap Sahib and Chaupayee Sahib, whereby undermining the entire Amrit Sanchar ceremony. The core fundamentals of Sikhi and those who lived by the word of the Guru have been attacked shamelessly by Ghugga Being oblivious to the correct pronunciation and lacking grammatical knowledge of Gurbani, Ghugga fails to recognize the importance of vowels when translating Gurbani. In addition to the concerns raised above, there are many other discrepancies and anti-Gurmat statements contained within literature published by Ghugga, some of which we hope to highlight in the coming days. It should be noted that it is his anti-panthic actions that have resulted in him not being allotted time to speak at any Gurdwara. 10. MySQL may seem daunting and confusing from the start, but if you know SQL then well its nothing at all.. Best source is the mysql documentation. Everything is there. There may be some spoon feed guides, but I'd think these would be a waste of time more then anything depending on your level. Stick with PHP and mysql, and join the revolution against Microsoft. If you have questions in particular etc you can always post them here.

  12. Supreme Court overturns ban on Sikh dagger Last Updated Thu, 02 Mar 2006 10:48:36 EST CBC News A Montreal boy may now wear his Sikh ceremonial dagger in the classroom after Canada's top court unanimously overturned a ban on the kirpan. In its 8-0 judgment, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday that a total ban infringed on Gurbaj Singh's guarantees of religious freedom under the Charter of Rights. Gurbaj Singh The court threw out arguments from lawyers for the Quebec school board that originally implemented the ban, saying there is no suggestion the kirpan is a weapon of violence or that Gurbaj intended to use it as one. The argument is "disrespectful to believers in the Sikh religion and does not take into account Canadian values based on multiculturalism," wrote the judges. The case stems from a November 2001 incident at Ste-Catherine-Laboure school in LaSalle. Gurbaj's cloth-wrapped dagger came loose from around his waist and fell to the ground at the elementary school. The school's principal ordered the 12-year-old to remove the kirpan, but Gurbaj left school rather than remove the 10-centimetre long dagger, which he says is a key component of his faith. He eventually switched to another school and his family took the matter to court. Lower court decision upheld The case has been winding its way through the legal system for four years. In May 2002, the Quebec Superior Court ruled Gurbaj could wear his kirpan to school if it was wrapped in heavy cloth inside a wooden case, underneath his clothing. * FROM MAY 17, 2002: Sikh boy wins kirpan case in Quebec Quebec's government at the time, the Parti Québécois, appealed the decision. In 2004, the Quebec Court of Appeal struck down the decision, ruling the kirpan had the makings of a weapon and was dangerous. Although banning the weapon was a hindrance to freedom of religion, the court ruled that community safety comes first. * FROM CBC ARCHIVES: Religion in the Classroom McGill University professor Jack Jedwab said Canadians are looking for guidance in determining where to draw the line when it comes to issues of religious freedom. "People are looking for some leadership on this point and hopefully they'll get some from the Supreme Court," he said. Manjeet Singh, the Sikh chaplain at McGill and Concordia universities, who also assisted Gurbaj Singh's legal team, said baptized Sikhs believed the kirpan is a symbol of courage, freedom and responsibility to stand up for their rights. "It is one of the five articles of faith that every baptized Sikh is supposed to have on their person, all the time," said Manjeet Singh. Craig Buchanan, the vice-president of English affairs with for the Quebec Federation of Parents Committee, said the issue is divisive. "It's a tricky situation. If you start to try to limit the religious freedoms, then what's that going to do to other religious freedoms?" said Buchanan. "And if you seek to compromise safety in schools, how far is that going to go as far as safety in the schools?"
  13. Awsome. Works good and looks awsome.
  14. Sant Baba Takhur Singh Ji was never married and as such they had no kids. However they did have nephews.
  15. didn't he also mentioned in the bbc documentary of sikhs- bhindranwale did not surrender, he fought back like a "TIGER" ? I am not sure if he is double minded on sant bhindranwale, or he is just playing hide and seek game and being cynical. 151711[/snapback] It has little to do with him being double minded. Its more about the context that his remarks are taken. Him saying Sant Jarnail Singh is a thug is his opinion on Sant Jarnail Singhs character. While saying that Sant Jarnail singh faught like a tiger, is his observation/opinion on the resistance that was given to the GOI by the Singhs. Similar observations were also made of the Khalsa by other dushts, such as Mir Manu, and Zakhria Khan. Many solidiers who fought for the GOI were also suprirsed and shocked by the resistance that they recieved at the hands of the Khalsa on that day, so much so that they resorted to bringing in Tanks, into Darbaar Sahib. Many were also quoted as saying that during the attack they did not know how many Singhs they were going up against. Although it was only a handful who put up a fight the resistance they recieved felt like that of an entire battalion.
  16. Why search when you can Khooogle... http://www.shindasingh.com/playground/khaoogle.php ***BETA*** (meaning countless errors).. Basically it search's a few message boards, and through certain sites image galleries, and displays the results of those searchs. In this release basically you can search and thats about it. Most images wont link back the right image, but yea maybe you can take some ideas from their and add them to your project, considering this one's pretty much died out.
  17. Namstang, seems to have pulled a card from the works of Gurmant Grewal. Next time you have a conversation with anyone, I suggest you at least ask them before pasting onto message boards. Lastly I also think next time you shoud clarify deeper yourself before using individuals to raise these comments. In what you pasted above all Jasdev Singh said was that Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh never took a stand against Arti-aarta but that was clearly after establshing the above that Taksal itself does not practice it. Same manour that Taksal does not speak out against Chatka, or Sukh, yet it does not practice them, or encourage these practices, simply because these are petty issues that exist within the Panth right now. I even went to the extent of calling Jasdev Singh, after reading your posts to clarify what he was saying, and he again reiterated those abouve thoughts. Lastly as for your comments about Mehta Taksal returning to its roots. I personally, and had my sentiments echoed back after sharing them with other Singhs, found these quite insulting towards the Jatha itself. Mehta Taksal was always under the leadership of Great Panthic Mahpurskhs from Sant Giani Kartaar Singh to Sant Giani Jarnail Singh to Sant Baba Takhur Singh. To say that a dusht like Dhumma is restoring and fullfilling the tasks as if he was greater then these Sikhs is indeed profoundly insulting, considering he himself does not come any where near these Singhs, espeically with the rap sheet that he has. I apologize for going off from the genuine topic, but in closing Taksal is against the practice of Arti-artaa and for that reason does not practice this itself. It was Sant Kartaar Singh Ji's bachan to never talk ill about any Takhat, and to get darshan of these places with shardaa in their hearts and not focus on things they disagree with such as the Maryada.
  18. Lol...looks like your talking about a GTA type game. Sall good GTA's still ill..
  19. I agree 1000%. Grab one guy break him and trust me grade 8's are nothing. Just give him a nose bleed and you'll be set.
  20. Curious to know, what engine are you using to build the game around?
  21. Actually I was surfing around and I think the real problem is that your giving out the wrong link? Isn't this your blog: http://deepkaurkhalsablog.blogspot.com/ (works fine) If so, then I think your url that your showing people is a bit of (The one in your sig is Khalsas, and the one with stuff on it is Khalsa.)
  22. You sure your posts arn't being saved as drafts rather then publishing them? For others to see it on the site you need to publish..

Check out the andromeda script. It is by far one of the most popular one used on majority of the Sikh Sites, which offer MP3's
  25. This has always been a disturbing issue within the Panth. One of the grey areas that surround such things, is that many people in the Sangat, espeically Youth, feel that there is nothing wrong in general with such relationships, espeically when they arn't doing anything wrong.. Best thing to do is to legitazmize the facts, and then make such information available publicly to Sangat. So that they can decide for themselves wheather or not they agree, with this Singh's actions and if they really want to be part of an Amrit Sinchaar where he is 1/5 of Guru's Saroop.
