  9. Had there been voting for choosing panj piyare at anandpur sahib in 1969 just imagine what would have happened . We are lucky our master went by selection and not election /whatever happened at Greys is really disgusting , we in india have been struggling that voting right for Sgpc should be reserved for Sabat Surats only.Lets see how far we suceed
  10. as far I know , maryada of amrit sanskaar does not allow any outsider (i mean panj piyare, Granthee saheb and the chobdars - the gatekeepers and the amrat abhlakhis are part of congregation and all others are outsiders) once the sanskar starts , so to keep the sanctity of maryada we should not try to make recordings , but that is my personal opinion depending on my own knowledge level , and the opinions may differ from person to person .However we can get copy of rehat maryada either in print from SGPC or can download from the site of SGPC (punjabi & english versions are available ) even prints from Damdami taksal , AKJ , Sikh missionary college Ludhiana , DSGPC , management board of Abchal Nagar sahib are also available ,

  13. JUST BOIL IT IN SOME WATER & mix in milk or take it plain with honey take it any way(even can mix in normal tea )it is best for health cures common cold cough , soothes throat . Those addicted to tea can try green or olong leaf tea ( it is unprocessed so has very little caffeine , no tannin ( real health culprit in tea), a good source of anti oxidants , if not boiled in Indian way it is too kind of health drink . In India we also have hari Chai, which is leaves of some kind of grass growing in jungles, with very nice aroma and no addictive elements if someone gets it , should try as it is said to have medicinal qualities. For desi or Khalsa chai, we can have , dalchini , moti ilaichi, banafsha, kali mirch, sundh(dry ginger ) lovang ( optional) app 10gm each mixed with 75-100gms of saunf , quantity can be changed to taste to be pounded to powder and used Some ppl add rose petals too , in winter can add kesar also . in facy every body has their own recipe as per personal choice.
  14. here is the real text as I have read in many manuscripts where the actual word used by the GuruSahib is BUTSHIKAN whish exactly means the idol breaker I vanquished the vicious hill chiefs, they were idol-worshippers and I am idol-breaker.95.
  15. if we read the sikh rehat maryada carefully, we can grasp the spirit of the matter, in turbulent times(post guru gobind singh ji and pre Ranjit Singh) when the dal khalsa had to spend days in jangals , they got very little time for gurbani paath as they were always busy with fighting tyranny of the rulers , and hand written beers of Guru sahib were in limited number onlyhence whenever they got 3-4 days spare and saroop of Guru sahib , they would do akhand paath so as to get benefit of ureading and imbibing spirit of Gurbani - hence even in rehat maryada what is written here i quote in letter contained Chapter 3 article 9 Article IX a. The non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib is carried on at hard times or on occasions of elation or joy. It takes approximately fortyeight hours. The non-stop reading implies continuous, uninterrupted reading. The reading must be clear and correct. Reading too fast, so that the person listening in to it cannot follow the contents, amounts to irreverence to the Scriptures. The reading should be correct and clear, due care being bestowed on consonant and vowel even though that takes a little longer to complete. b. Whichever family or congregation undertakes the non-stop reading should carry it out itself through its members, relatives, friends, etc., all together. The number of reciters is not prescribed. If a person, himself, cannot read, he should listen in to the reading by some competent reader. However, it should never be allowed to happen that the reader carries on the reading all by himself/herself and no member of the congregation or the family is listening in to the reading. The reader should be served with food and clothing to the best of the host's means. going by the wording above , it is more thabn clear we donot follow rehat maryada in the spirit , only ritualistic method are applied. Going by the spirit , there is no issue in what you did, but yes when so many people are listening ,this should have not happened Further keeping in mind the sanctity of the Guru Sahib before sitting for sewa of paath we should be careful to relieve ourself and have bath to become fresh so that such situation does not happen . All the conditions prescribed by different sects to be followed before sitting in sewa of Paath are made keeping these things in view and we should follow it not as a ritualism but seeing the reason behind . Some people at tyhe forum find my words harsh , and i always put my apologies in advance , but that words are put only under the light of teachings of our great gurus, so please I request not to take anything personally i always stand where my Great Guru is fateh
  16. If we read Sri guru Granth sahib ji carefully we would find the concept of AVTAAR IS NORT ACCEPTABLE in our faith . wHEREVER QUOTAD, IT IS TO GIVE illusration or example to prove some point .
  17. hi friends, laws are always legal , dubai & sharjah are parts of united arab emirates (a kind of coglomeration ofsmall pricipalities of Princely states, each having its own set of laws ) NOW THE MAIN TOPIc we should try our best to protect our brethern whenever in trouble, BUT DO WE KNOW THEIR CRIME ?in any islamic country trding of liquor (alcohol ) is illegal further every country has its own criminal procedure wher we can have only limited interference, I feel the required kind of legal and moral support needed is already being provide by diferent quarter in India, even Amrider Singh is arranging diplomatic influence bur for the kind of crime they are charged with i do not feel they may get scot free. Though I feel they may have been framed , he lesson we should draw is before going to a foreign land for work we shoul de well informed and well equipped ( having at least working knowledge of the language and the social customs and do's and do'nts which our migrant youths generally ignore
  18. this shabad is on ang 477 og guru sahib ji, in Faridkot wala teeka this shabad is explained on page 1526 of PDF FILE , kABEER SAHIB JI normally explains many complex issues with metaphors and satires , this shabad is fine example , the Feel (elephant ) is our ego, balas (the bull) our laziness and the crow is our pseudo intellect .the donkey is our Kaami man which gets transformed into proper person after wearing cholas of shame, and kakareas are our worldly wikaars which are turned into bareys (pakoras ) of Bhaktee by the grace of god( raja Ram) suggested full readings from teeka

  25. its better (in case there is no one to teach you )get hold of a good teeka of SGGS (suggested by prof Sahib Singh and Fareed kot wali teekka) suudy these and aso comprehend waran Bhai Gurdas ji (teeka also available)can also down load mahaan kosh by Bhai kahn Singhji (available at SGPC site ) .study of these books lead us to understand gurbani welland also we can comprehend the grammer , the diction and the metre of different chhands used in gurbani , still it would be better if we perform 3-4 sehaj paaths of Gurbani , before trying the lareewar beer because it makes our understanding better , a good ustaad can speed up the process but we have to go through all this with patience . it is not difficult but patience is the key, plz go ahead Best of luck , after a few days i am sre you will start to enjoy it.
