  1. To some extent, I agree with Manjit Singh. Wouldn't Guru Ji want the money/gold to be used in other ways like education or helping the poor?
  2. So now your personality changed? and about the "every girl wants her husband handsome not with parna like me" don't be so sure. Im pretty sure there are many girls out there who want a pure GurSikh boy.
  3. I have to agree with the above two posts. I am not an Amritdhari yet and I still believe that you cannot get such an important kakkar without giving your head, You can carry a pocket knife, pepper spray, or just regular knife. Why a Kirpan? Makes no sense to me.
  4. Ok thanks that clears up the confusion. And I wasn't trying to mock this Granth I was just asking a question.
  5. Yeah I actually just read that. ਪੂਜਾ, ਤਿਲਕ, ਹੋਮ, ਗਾਯਤ੍ਰੀ, ਸੰਧ੍ਯਾ, ਤਰਪਨ ਧਾਰੋ ॥ Conduct worship, [adorn a] Tilak, [practise] Havans, [recite] Gayatri [mantras], worship at the prescribed times, instill these virtues [in your heart]. What does this mean?
  6. No worries Brother This site makes up for it all.
  7. Im glad it helped you. Other religions don't have to keep their hair but then again, muslim women have to wear a burka, which other religions aren't required to. Does that make Islam the only true path? Our path of Sikhi requires us to keep our hair because it is a way of showing commitment to God and showing how we appreciate the way he made us. Other religions have their way of showing commitment but this is our way of showing commitment to God. The perfect Lord has made our bodies to be the way they are for a purpose and we don't want to alter that. Rab Rakha
  8. I think its quite inspirational how my younger brother is striving for his hair to grow and he wants to wear Guru Ji's dastaar. He's around your age. He used to cut his hair and now he wants to keep it. And there is another one of my younger brother's at some corner in the world who wants to cut his hair, the gift given to him by his father Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Don't make this mistake chote veer. It takes a lot of courage to represent Guru Ji's dastaar. And if you are really intersted about girls, lemme tell you, many girls fall for your personality. At least the good ones. The ones that fall for your looks only are not good girls that you would want to be around. There are many boys with kesh who "get girls" if that's your motive. Dont waste this beautiful jeevan given to you by Waheguru due to girls. But I suggest that you should keep your hair, keep your rehet strong, do bhagti and you will get shakti to defeat these lustful thoughts you have about girls. And for your question, "Is having hair mandatory in Sikhism?"then yes it absolutely is. Just take a look at my signature at the bottom and you will get your answers on why it is mandatory. Rab Rakha
  9. Yes brother this happens a lot. When I have an issue and I need guidance or I just want some advice, I take a Cyber Hukumnama and Guru Ji takes care of the rest.
  10. I urge everyone to watch this video please. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKnZjFPZSu4.
  11. Also try Dukhbhanjani Path by. It helps a lot
  12. I agree with Mokham Singh Veerji. Some youngsters giving lectures in English would be great
  13. Same here I am from USA as well.
  14. At my Gurdwara, the Granthi spoke about the shaheeds and sant ji and one of the committee members spoke about them as well. And we also mentioned them in our ardas. That was about it.
  15. Waheguru Waheguru, this story gave me the shivers. I was shocked to read that it was a fictious story because Akaal Publishers made it sound real. There are probably many Satwant Kaurs in the world who have had to face circumstances like these. Thanks for posting the link bhenji!
  16. Thank you veerji for the clarification!!
  17. WJKK WJKF I have started reading Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and this line confuses me. Who is Ashwani Kumar? I tried to look it up but I didnt find anything. Can anyone tell me what Guru Ji is saying? Monadoo madaar kete Asunoo Kumaar kete, ansaa avtaar kete kaal bas bhae hain|| Many religious leaders, many chieftains of clans, many Ashwani Kumars and many degrees of incarnations, they had all been subject to death. Ang 38
  18. Thank you veer jee I appreciate the time you took to type it all out. You hear a lot of rumors so I'm glad I got it all sorted out. And thanks for posting the video Ek Gun Nahin Veer Jee/Bhen Jee I just really needed to hear this.
  19. Could someone give me some background info on Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale. Where he has gotten his education? etc. My family is from Patiala and next time I go to India I would want to go meet him for sure.
  20. Oh oh thanks I was really confused on what the Sri Sarbloh Granth was and who had written it. And by the way, is this the Granth that the Nigung Singh's don't expose to public or no? ****Sorry for my ignorance.
  21. WJKK WJKF Well I always knew about Sri Dasam Granth. But now I have started to hear about other Granths or writings by our Guru Jis. Can anyone please give me a list of all these Granths/ Writings and some Info about them. And if possible an online link to some of them? (preferably in English since I'm not good at reading Punjabi yet!) WJKK WJKF
