  1. That poor child. When you commit an act like this you lose all rights to be alive. I pray that the poor child gets better and lives a happy life, and I hope his parents die in the worst possible way... and then rot in hell.
  2. 1. Why not put scrubs on before dastar. Can't you wear the scrubs in lecture too... 2. It seems like a piece of fabric, perhaps an elastic ring with velcro on the ends could be used to go through the loops on the mast/visor, and secure it around your head... or could you not just wear your dastar in such a way that you can get to your ears?
  3. I disagree. I would say religion is not DIRECTLY involved in such a crime, but its impact on the culture and social norms of the pakistani community cannot be discounted. and with that I have said my peace.... I always use this site as an excuse not to study during finals. :biggrin2:
  4. Something like RCIA (catholic instruction for adults) or perhaps regular lectures on Guru Granth Sahib Ji (like "bible study") would be hugely beneficial IMHO. Something where a more learned elder could discuss the fundamentals of the religion to those of us who were not born into it,and even those who were.
  5. I don't understand why the responses are so reactionary. Do you think it is not valid to be concerned that these men come from a certain religious group, and that this religious group has a history of such problems... and thus the correlation between the religion and the action needs to be examined. What is frustrating is that non-muslims are not allowed to point out this trend without being labelled as racist, etc. There is a clear correlation... and we care because it is non-muslims who suffer because of this trend. Why does this trend exist? Of course Islam does not teach to go sex groom girls, but it is pakistani muslim culture where this is happening so frequently. Why? What is so unreasonable about this?
  6. I agree, but when one religion violently conflicts with every other religion, in multiple countries, over such a large time frame... is that called treating people as "children of God" should we all just pretend its not happening so that we don't "fight over religion"? Islamic society/culture has some very big problems that are hurting many innocent people around the world, and they need to address them. I don't think thats an unreasonable request.
  7. Of course not. However, if pakistan itself became a sikh country, it stands to reason pakistani culture would be vastly improved. One person does not determine a culture, it requires many people over a period of time. btw... they are doing the same thing to coptic christians in egypt
  8. But there is a correlation if a hugely disproportionate amount of pakistani muslims are the ones committing these crimes. Obviously there is something about pakistani muslim culture that is creating this trend. Just like a disproportionate amount of muslims commit suicide bombings... you can't simply ignore these correlations... they are just too obvious.
  9. Forget the political establishment, I meant the actual family/community members of the abused girls. If someone did this to your sister, your daughter, could you really sleep at night if they were still breathing?
  10. The british need to untie their balls. The guy said it, if it was a muslim girl they would get "sorted out". If someone does this to your sister, daughter, etc... why wouldn't you and your family "sort them out"
  11. So I just got back from Gurdwara and I had an interesting experience I feel like I should share. While sitting at langar, a singh came around to serve some food and seeing that I was gora and such, he promptly introduced himself, struck up a quick conversation, and shook my hand. To those of you who grew up in Gurdwara this may not seem like a big deal, but I can promise you this gesture means so much to an outsider. It honestly quit bothering me quite some time ago, but the insular nature of desis can be a bit jarring at first. I think this is even the case with other desis coming to gurdwara... people just tend to ignore them if they don't already know them. I think this is just as valuable a form of sewa as serving langar, if not more so. So if you are serving langar and see a new face, brown or white, be a gentleman/lady and kindly introduce yourself. I promise it will make quite an impression. *sorry mods, this should probably go in general*
  12. No, neither one is alright, but the death of one does not justify the other. There is no justice in innocent civilians being murdered, by anyone, ever. Period. Lots of powerful people in the US have blood on their hands, and they will have to answer for it in this life or the next, but that does not justify terrorism.
  13. The west deserved? So every man/woman who dies in a terrorist attack is justified because of the politics of their country? Many sikhs live in the US, are they all fair targets because of America's foreign policy? What about UK sikhs... they are fair game as well right?
  14. Mexican nanny runs 10 bucks an hour if you are in the states... good high quality daycare around 7-900 a month
  15. sounds like a nice problem to have.

    Benefit Fraud

They sound worthless. US is getting full of these worthless people as well... but so many feel bad turning them in. It is theft... nothing less.. and if you do not report it you support it. They steal from you and everyone else every day, as well as take money from people who truly deserve the benefits.... so turn them in.
  17. Go see a different doctor.
  18. Severely misguided. The problem is when you go looking for sikh resources all of there websites are the first things that come up.... then you think yep, another BS crazy hippy religion. To me they are just another yoga cult, but dressed up in sikh clothes... . Small in number, but as a provider of information on sikhi they reach a TON of people via the web and do immeasurable harm to youth, potential converts, etc. That is the danger with 3HO.

    Need Advice

Stop posting on this forum about this. Stop talking to the police. Get up first thing tomorrow and call an attorney. Nothing else to say.
  20. Does your breath taste/smell fruity? Are you getting enough to eat?
  21. Perhaps he did. Who knows, lost to history.I would love to see this religion take off in the west, or at least in my family.
  22. Jesus never went to India, etc. He was crucified and died. IMHO he was a phenomenal man who took a very practical look at religion and God. He was like Guru Nanak in that he addressed the absurdities of the religion that he was born into (especially ritualism). The religion built on Jesus has little resemblance to what he taught... as is the case with many religions. Divinity seems to be attributed to religious leaders after they die, and practical religions tend to get distorted and made complicated.... I think you can see this beginning to happen with the sikh religion as well.
