    How To Do Ardaas?

Like Veer jee has said that ardaas is heard from everybody. But also remember Guru jee is giving you something, so what can you give back to guru jee? Well we read it everyday saachaa saahib saach naae bhaakhiaa bhaao apaar || True is the Master, True is His Name-speak it with infinite love. aakhehi ma(n)gehi dhaehi dhaehi dhaath karae dhaathaar || People beg and pray, ""Give to us, give to us"", and the Great Giver gives His Gifts. faer k agai rakheeai jith dhisai dharabaar || So what offering can we place before Him, by which we might see the Darbaar of His Court? muha k bolan boleeai jith sun dhharae piaar || What words can we speak to evoke His Love? a(n)mrith vaelaa sach naao vaddiaaee veechaar || In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness. karamee aavai kaparraa nadharee mokh dhuaar || By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found. naanak eaevai jaaneeai sabh aapae sachiaar ||4|| O Nanak, know this well: the True One Himself is All. ||4
  2. If you stay for a whole rainsbhai, what happens to our nitnem?? When should we do it? And what about our ishnaan? Can anybody tell us what they do?

    What Is Seva?

http:// http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVfBkNq-l-g these giys explain it very nicely :waheguru:
  4. I’ve never found it right for kids to bring game consoles to Gurudwara, but like veer jee has said it is also down to the parents, who lets kids take game consoles to the Gurudwara? Parents don’t they. And it is down to parents to teach them Punjabi as well, when a katha has finished a parent should ask the kids what did u learn, what words didn’t you understand! That way kids knowledge will expand. And if parents do this I’m sure there will be no talking, no gaming and no running about!
  5. How can you do a live broadcast, from websites like justin TV? What equipment do you need? :D
  6. I’ve noticed this on many occasions as well, the elder bibya (sorry) just gossiping amongst each other. Before, during and after kirtan/katha! Don’t they get tired!:umm: :6 And whenever there is kirtan on the floor, little kids will always run up right in front of the kirtani!!! I find this really disrespectful! Where are the parents! But about the PSP’s and Nintendo DS, maybe they get bored in the gurudwara? Why? Maybe because there is not enough parchar in English, which the kids can engage in. And there excuse can be “i don’t understand what the gyani is saying!” What can we do about this?
  7. Best thing that i can say is to keep in touch with people, keep checking the global events section and wonder around your local gurudwaras for any posters!
  8. And if you do recite it all the time, then you won't have any troubles! :waheguru: So recite it as much as you can!
  9. The sad fact is that 90% of people only attend Nagar Kirtans for the food! Daas is going to work on a leaflet including the history and what a Nagar Kirtan is. So that they can be given out during Nagar Kirtans to not only “goreh” who find it amusing but our own Sikhs!
  10. The same reason why u cant wear stuff like make-up or Jewellery. oh dam just realised this topic was started in 2008! loool oops my bad!
  11. Think of it as number line, from -10 to 10. -10 being all the sins you have made in pervious lives and this life. 0 being you have done no sins, but you haven’t made any progress. And 10 being you are in sachkhand. :D Ok so when you are born you start off at -10, because of your mistakes. And as you get older you do seva, and kamaye, and that you can say puts your soul at -8 or -7. But your aim is to get to 10! It is very hard for your soul to do, because you have to go from -9,-8,-7...... which is a long way. And your karma are that bad that it will take a VERY long time. So when you take Amrit, your soul has that leap from -10 to 0. So now your soul is fresh, and you can make a greater progress to get to 10! So your kamaye before amrit helps your soul to get clean, but taking amrit gives you that extra leap. And kamaye after that is just you being even closer to Waheguru! Sorry it’s a rubbish example, but hope you understand :D :D

  15. Guru jee says: gur siqgur kw jo isKu AKwey su Blky auiT hir nwmu iDAwvY ] gur sathigur kaa jo sikh akhaaeae s bhalakae out(h) har naam dhhiaavai || One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru, the True Guru, shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name audmu kry Blky prBwqI iesnwnu kry AMimRq sir nwvY ] oudham karae bhalakae parabhaathee eisanaan karae a(n)mrith sar naavai || Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar. It also says in the rehat: vwihgurU guru mMqR su jwp kr iesnwn pVHY jpu jwpu ]] vaahiguroo gur ma(n)thr s jaap kar eisanaan parrhai jap jaap |||| Repeat the Mantra of the Guru 'Vaheguru'. Take your bath and then read your morning prayers. Rehatnama Bhai Nand Laal Jee It says "arising early in the moring, he is to bathe" meaning you to wake up then take a shower. So you shouldnt really take a shower before going to sleep. When you are reading Bani you will be more tierd if you didnt take a shower. As taking a shower awakens your body, meaning you can concentrate on bani. You can allways go back to sleep after reading your nitnem
