  1. i agree peacemaker, well said vaheguru, how rude and arrogant are some of these descriptions? i know someone who once went to the Gurdwara to use the washroom facilities and that was all it took for him to embrace Sikhi, what category does he go in then i also know some of these “wall supporters” but you know what these are the folk who are bothered to come EVERY morning be it sun, rain, ice, snow, before Maharaj Jis Parkaash to do seva in the Langar, in the washrooms and general cleaning Seva and only AFTER they have done seva for at LEAST 3 hours they take rest against a wall, i am not even worthy to beg pardon for these people, gosh, but i will apologise for them, they don’t mean to get tired, or they don’t mean to have an aching back or they don’t mean to need support because of old age, sorry, they’ll make sure the walls are free next time and what about this dyslexic remark “See what dyslexia can do to your brains?” vaheguru, i guess you don’t know anyone who might suffer from this then for you to be able to make comments such as these!! Vaheguru
  2. hanji v reliable, they make sure you know everything that's going on, keep you up to speed with your order. if you use IM service they are most likely to liase with over that in order to ensure you are happy with everything, i had a shastar made from them last year, they did not post shastars abroad then (don't know if they do now) but they had to get in touch with my family in punjab to sort out collection etc and my family said they were really polite and professional, really trusting! i think they're also members of this board if you need/want to pm

    Did I Get Hustled?

hahahah same thing happened to me here in the west midlands like early 2005, the rose thing as well hahah an he played other number tricks as well and he told me some kala liked me loool and that i was going to marry some rich businessman, it was weird because he could name people from my life etc and then he suggested he could tell me the winning lottery numbers if i gave him money, how ironic, i was like mate if you could tell me that then you could play the lottery and win the money for yourself. emiiiiiiiiii, is best to ignore these sort of folk!! :TH:
  4. lol this particular one interested me Your Driving Is is: 75% Male, 25% Female According to studies, you generally drive like a typical male. You're confident in your driving skills, and hardly any situation gets the better of you. And while you may have a few tickets under your belt, you're still a very good driver. hmmmmmm something i need to show to my fiance who made me drive on the motorway in the slow lane@ like 50mph because he thinks i cannot drive!!! men!!
  5. looooooooooooooooool oh my daysss, i am like so about to wet myself hahahahah kirunnnnn that woman reminds me of someone...guess whooooooooo hehe i just remembered another one after reading anon's incident of mistaken identity hahaha well we was at the Gurdwara at this like program for young people, so we were in our groups like doing discussion based stuff, and my cousin walks into the room, and i started getting all excited and waving at him to come over, and he's looking around to see if there is anyone standing by him, and then he looks at me like im mad or something like :umm: and thennnnn i realise its not my cousin, i swear these guys must have been like seperated at birth or something, but to make things worse, in the course of finding a potential husband to be, i was introduced to this guy hahahhaha and all he knew me for was the mad bibi waving at him just as well we both said no esp. since he looked like my cousin would have been weird to marry him haha
  6. vaheguru in regards to the high pitch thing, i think it means that Gurbani should be read aloud during the sehaj paath and akhand paath sahibs, because sometimes Granthi jis don't recite aloud and therefore there is no point if the sangat cannot hear and get laha
  7. Happy Vaisakhi & Happy Khalsa Birthdays & Many Congratulations to those who joined the Khalsa

  9. :umm: @ above i just embarassed myself at the weekend X 2 i went cycling on sat with my mom and my lil bro' and like i came home and my sister was like your top is inside out hahaha i'm such a dufus, and on sunday my fiance came over to our house because he had come up to our part of the country for some wedding, and then he was like you got to come with me because Dad wants to see you, so we drove back together to where the wedding reception was and then i met Dad and the family and came home and realised my suit had a huuuge hole in the back where i had burnt it the other week whilst ironing it : : mannnn it was like crinnnnngeeeee time when i realised hahaa my Father-in-law must be like "nau saddi chungi aa, patta chugga pai firdi aa " hmmmmm no wonder he was trying to give me ££ - probs as a hint to go buy a new one haha
  10. It may be worth while checking out like Sikh/Punjabi places 1st for a job; Gur Kirpa I’ve had quite a few part time jobs so when I went applying for jobs in dastaar etc I DID have the relevant work experience so they couldn’t turn me away for that factor, my 1st job as amritdhari was in a recreation & learning centre run by a Gurdwara, that was great because it opened up so many doors for me and then I went onto work for the local council as a youth worker, I was the only Sikh person there in regards to the employees and young people, then simultaneously I took a second part time job as a youth worker with a different council, and this was like the maddest ever interview with like 60 odd people and involved making animal noises and doing a play in front of everyone! :umm: Then later on I took on job role as project manager at another community centre – but this one wasn’t a Sikh place but because of my relevant work experience they were happy to employ me, and now I’ve just left a tv channel place….in job interviews work with Sikhi, tell them about beliefs in relevant questions such as “what does the term equal opportunities mean to you”? you can talk about how as Sikhs we believe everyone is of equal status and how we practice this etc Also if you got time, try do voluntary work, you may find you get any opening vacancies rewarded to you by the company, but if anything you get experience and a reference which is what employers always look for! All the best in your endeavour
  11. off topic slightly but - never mind knowing what caste you are by your dastaar type, this sikh guy at work asked me why we wear different colours, he was like do people that wear white believe in Guru Nanak Dev Ji and people that wear blue believe in Guru Gobind Singh Ji? lol i really didn't know if i should laugh or cry :sady: haha gosh bichara was so confused by it all

  17. Dear veer it’s great to hear that you wish to become a human rights worker It’s never too early to start, why not join AI? Become a local member; if you do not have a local group look into setting one up yourself, it can be a school/college society or a local neighbourhood project even Also look into becoming a young ambassador for AI or any other human rights organisation University wise you can look into legal subjects, history or politics maybe, or perhaps even cominbe? Over here (uk) you can specialise in certain areas such as human rights if you’re doing a law degree for example you can take specific modules in human rights or after your law degree you can go on to do LLM (masters in law) and specialise in JUST human rights, so may be worth getting a few college/uni prospectuses and checking out the different courses. but i think school is not the be all and end all of it, volunteer work will open many doors for you and give you a better idea of what it all involves. Check out the Canadian AI website or of any other human rights organisation, they may have projects ongoing which you can get involved with and they’re always on the look out for volunteers Also try mailing United Sikhs, it’s worth a shot! All the best And sincere apologies if the above is of no use!!
