  1. Apparently after a bit of research on Wikipedia in the past few minutes I've discovered each item held by Vishnu (including his sudharshan chakra) is also symbolic of a kind of human trait or characteristic. So I guess that's where the meditation bit comes in. I was just a bit curious as I'd heard the term mentioned in the past.
  2. Isn't the sudharshan chakra the spinning metal disc / weapon that belongs to Vishnu (and Parusharam and Krishan)?
  3. Not sure about Sikhs loving the Royal Family and the Armed Forces. I bear them no malice but that doesn't equate to me endorsing and supporting everything they do as well. A gross oversimplification of the complex issues at hand, and I'm sad to say this kind of rhetoric has worked on some Sikhs. Remember the East India Company; I'm sure Mr. Tommy Robinson has done his research on how his countrymen divided and conquered for their own purposes. However his general message contains some rather pertinent points which cannot be disputed. I just get the feeling we're being played somehow. Just my opinion. I agree with Pehlvan Ji. The way to deal with Muslims who mean us harm is through Sikh means alone; allying ourselves with a frankly dubious right-wing lite organisation is a poor reflection on us. Now, if we DON'T (or can't) deal with these issues in a way befitting Guru Gobind Singh's Khalsa, then lets be honest and admit there is no desire on our part to do so. Lets not keep our oar in with Sikhi but cosy up to the like of the EDL. Saying that, good luck to them if they have turned a corner. If they feel their way is the only way to protect their daughters and their way of life I hope they begin to be taken seriously. But WE have an uncomparable system; absolutely perfect guidelines of conduct presented to us by our Guru Sahibs for tackling life's many, many difficulties. If we forsake those ways for others then we only have ourselves to blame.
  4. Humble benti to mods, if you have the time can you please add a 'c' to 'Attak' in the thread title. It's starting to get to me quite a bit. :blush2: EDIT: Thank-you.

    Rara

Excellent tip. Really can't make it any clearer than the above.
  6. Steady on, jeez. If as Sikhs we fall to pieces each time we are provoked then what purpose and value our Guru Sahibs and their guidance? Yes, before anyone interjects with "She insulted our father" etc., I understand that, but she's not the first and she won't be the last. So are we going to thrash or kill anyone and everyone who does that? We'd be as mad as the Islamic nutters we deride for getting worked up over cartoons or killing soldiers on English streets. Let the Sikh organisations in India take firm action, and then draw a line underneath it. If she apologises then fair play. If not then whenever she comes over to the UK or other places with Sikhs then she should be made to explain herself, and if she is still unrepentant then Sikhs would put pressure (by lawful means) on those who are organising her shows, etc., to not allow her any time to perform because of her disgusting attitudes towards Sikhs --- even if she is supposedly Sikh-born herself. If she feels the pinch financially (as most of our lot do) she'll seriously re-consider speaking the same type of bakwaas again.
  7. ^^^ :lol2: It's funny more than anything! I hope he was trying to attempt a bit of satire, but I doubt it.
  8. Funny thing is nobody will remember her when she's gone (through natural causes, Singhs, I'm not recommending anyone go on a revenge mission!), whilst Guru Sahib's achievements will resound through the ages. Let these foolish people bark, even if it is under the influence of intoxicants.
  9. I wouldn't put it past them to be honest bro, but let's not give the genuine Islamists a chance to fly under the radar by blaming big, bad government for everything.
  10. Things are going to kick off. Race wars. Honestly, brown people are going to targetted now by thick racists like the EDL or other dumb thugs, even though people have seen it's a black fella who did the act (not that black people should be targetted but you know what I mean). Protect yourself and others from harm if the worst comes to the worst.
  11. Apparently the Guardian says the soldier was beheaded.
  12. There's always, always a way back. You just have to make up your mind and really want it.
  13. Her word against his. Unless the man can prove he didn't do it, he's stuck.
  14. When the Boston bombs exploded, a random Bangladeshi guy outside a restaurant was beaten up by a gang of Hispanics because he looked "Arab". They're nutters. http://www.ibtimes.com/boston-marathon-bombing-fallout-bangladeshi-man-beaten-bronx-being-arab-1201819
  15. What a horribly depressing thing to recommend. "Control over their husbands". I'd say this is one of the reasons us Sikhs are in the state we are (in terms of our home lives at least). Whatever happened to mutual respect and co-operation? Why the need to control somebody like a household pet, or some kind of hypnotised zombie so as to negate any conflict? How about sitting down together and discussing issues like adults and reaching a common concencus? Very sad.
  16. The dumb, idiotic Mexican hates Sikhs and wanted to attack Sikh gurghars for no apparent reason says the article. Pathetic. He probably reckons we're Muslims, not that hating them is acceptable as well. Does he not know he's from an ethnic group as well? An ethnic group that is widely mocked and derided in American media? Who the hell is he doing this for; so the whites can pat him on the back and tell him he's a loyal American citizen?
  17. I, for one, welcome our Islamic overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted member of society I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground... well, nevermind. I've not lost my mind.
  18. ^^^ Maybe they're just lost in masti, like the qalandhars of old?
  19. With a general election coming up in a few years, expect opinions like these from the likes of Labour and even the Tories to fall conspicuously quiet, lest they offend potential voters from these communities. It is sad how the average Pakistani who isn't up to any of this nonsense is tarred with the same brush. But it is kind of weird to expect such decent folk to go around policing their fellow countrymen.
  20. Yeah, the situation on the ground either through personal experience or anecdotally would seem to suggest this survey is having a laugh.
  21. The perfect prescription I might add!
  22. @ Big Tera - Yet Pakistani males, as an overall ethnic group, are academically performing very poorly compared to other ethnic minorities in the UK. Surely those extra stores of intelligence would translate into school work as well? I agree with you about knocking the "act" on the head as it were. The benefits from refraining are clear to appreciate in terms of increased energy, etc. Not sure about the boost in IQ though.

    Bachans

Reading some of the old Hindu texts (Vishnupuran, etc) there's a lot of parallels with the modern day in terms of the failings of man, and how time and time again he needs to be reeled in due to his hubris and weaknesses where he begins to consider himself bigger and mightier than the Creator. There's an awful lot of that around today, although it could be argued there's always been something like this for as long as Man has been around. I guess it's that classic case of each generation believing theirs is the most corrupt, greedy, and lacking of morals. Either way something needs to be done, although I personally think we have a responsibility to improve the situation as well. If Akal Purakh see fits to intervene then fair play to that.
