  1. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh er...agreed...we do need to live and lead by example and maybe go talk to ppl who are going out of sikhi. prob is some sikh youth dont even care what other sikh youth do. I was so sad to hear from an aunt that she sees kesdhari sikhs smoking in clubs, I really didnt know this happened ....I'm not going to go into the : sikhs shouldn't be in clubs... but I will say: why do you wear a turban and have a uncut beard and smoke!?That too in a public place, have some shame. Mind you, none of those singhs are likely to be on this forum so I don't know why I'm saying any of that. Instead of getting angry at them or keeping away from them, I think we should approach them and as sikhs try to talk them out of it... it works. I'm not saying stalk them but if you see someone doing something dodgy or u thnk they are then go talk to them, a few words. Don't expect miracles but gradually they may stop. But a lot of the youth I know will turn around and say 'I cant be bothered what that Singh is doing, thats his life'. Thats where I think we fall. Thats where we show that we are actually selfish although we think we are great sikhs cos we do 2hrs sewa at a local Gurdwara once a yr. How abt some direct sewa that will change someones entire life and save their soul? Without expecting any reward?
  2. maybe its another irrelevant post but il say it- lol i read the sikh n'ppr today and there was an article on some case law in pakistan that says u cant rely on the statement of a dying PUNJABI guy cos punjbis got a habit of lying or exaggerating, made by the goras i think in 1935 or sometime. I was offended but I saw their point, soz if i offended any punjabi out there But on a more serious note, nindha keeps the punjabis going, its how they survive.
  3. I'm doing another ardas today, if Guru Ji listens to that I'll think that no ardas to Guru Ji goes unheard lol till then I wait to agree.
  4. Supersingh congrats for keeping kesh man, its good to hear. dont worry u wont get attacked, at least i dont think u will, i know enough singhs come home late and no one says anything. course if someone wants to pick on u cos they drunk then thats not my fault. abt being veggie, i drink milk, im sure its ok. so u def gonna be veggie or are u aware of the other side-that eating meat is allowed? anyways whatever u decide, soz to hear abt ur parents, but they all violent, my mum once broke my watch cos i made her mad lol and then she progressed to the phone. Its only cos kids are a handful, all humans get mad once in a while. lol its got nothign to do with them being sikh, ur parents are 2 individuals and they different, well dont think all are like that, are u? if u want to help ur parents then talk to them, it really is the way in my opinion, u guys need to open up and talk to eachother abt emotional stuff. dont get stressed at them, but keep calm if they get stressed. lead by example. mate just concentrate on sikhi, if u want a role model look at the great sikh women. why be bitter, u got God by ur side, what is there to be angry abt? Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  5. as long as they're white. nah i reckon any colour is allowed if we aint go no rehitnamas onthis one as long as it aint a dodgy colour like gree.
  6. ..........or maybe discussed. Pheena, its fine to convert but these muslims try to convert u by telling u lies abt other religions and lies abt their own religious teachings and thats only so they can convert one person and then get a confirmed ticket to heaven and eat loads of nice fruit there well if someone coverted to islam AFTER understanding their religion and then ISLAM, I would look up to the person for taking that step. But not this way. It funny how the only ppl i know who have converted to islam are those that never knew much abt any other religion or even the one they left. If someone wants to convert, then study all the relgions and THEN convert, not cos ur boyfriend who bought u a bunch of flowers and said he loves u needs u to convert so u can marry and cos he told u islam is the way . Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  7. so u do agree that sikhism believes in equality? well now as sikhs lets follow our religion to the max, yeah so that means not trying to 'liberalise it'. afterall ur agreeing that sikhi has it all but we need to follow it. ''you think all miniorities are represented the exact way the Sikh philosophy states they should be? Philosophy is from the east, but West actually achieved the goal.'' explain? if u want to look at how minorities are treated then look at how many probs we faced trying to keep the turban in western countries. if u wanna talk abt gender equality, then on paper women and men are equal but have u looked at job opportunities, a man gets a job for who he is, a woman often for what she looks like-equality in the west, .
  8. Today I was supposed to go to the pub next to college for a 'group bonding' session with the class and tutor but although i wouldnt have a prob with it, i didnt want to go cos its Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji's joti jot and there i am, an amritdhari, in a pub so im proper doing ardas, and ten mins b4 we were gonnna go it got cancelled and man was i so happy. Guru Ji is def there, i mean here. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  9. mickey mouse aint a sikh so cant have manmukh stuff/ppl on ur kachera, give it a break
  10. I dont think ppl take amrit so they can be in the Panj Pyare sewa, there r other reasons to take amrit
  11. is that new, looks like the old one to me?
  12. true *coughs even louder* ghore understand at mu uni if u say u dont go out but tell ur asian mates and they're like: ur being so boring how can u not want to go when im going so what u never gonna go we r sikh too @ Or, is it cos ur mum wont let u i'll bring some guys if u want ...and they simply cant understand how u can manage to go to the Gurdwara, ask them to come along and they run out of sight
  13. I agree that perhaps langar or at least parshad needs to be given by amritdharis. but i got a problem with stopping non amritdharis in the langar hall. ok its clearly written perhaps but i got an issue with the amritdharis doing sewa at my gurdwara. the monas come, do sewa, leave. some amritdharis come, throw around a wooden chamcha and then after a good fight leave. amritdhari auntijis use that time to make the dough and gossip. monas come, are really careful they dont disrespect anything and go home after hard work sewa. Perhaps it would be easier to explain to non amritdharis that they cant do sewa if the amritdharis were worth trusting in the kitchen. Makes it harder also cos there sometimes aint enough sangat to do sewa so the monas it is. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

as far as i have been told, amritdharis can eat from the same plate as other amritdharis, course just need to be sure the person is not anything other than an amritdhari. dont matter if they are a sant, a chela, a mum, a dad or a kid as long as they are amritdhari.
  15. think its july to october but sometimes can be earlier depending on weather
  16. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh jathas are good to the extent that a lot of people are inspired into sikhi through these jathas but the different rules, ie.anti sant, or pro Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's saroop etc all these diffferences are causing serious problems. But its not just the youth that needs effective prachaar, its their parents aswell, a olt of the youth maybe more into sikhi than their parents, so its really everyone that needs to be inspired with effective prachaar. And whether ppl like it or not, the sangat is in their thousands or hundreds of thousands when there are 'babas' doing kirtan. Thats when the Gurdwaras are full. We can say Gurdwaras have older ppl there but a lot of them are not there for religious reasons but cos they socialising there with auntiji meetings. Everone needs to be inspired, ofcourse i think all the jathas are trying to do their bit but when 2 jathas got a conflict of opinon then parchaar isnt all that effective anymore, its having a worse effect on sikhi dividing. one older person who once tried to get into sikhi stopped because once he tried to get into it he saw what sikhi has become. we cant agree on a lot and he was new to it so didn't know which way to go, ie.are photos allowed, is there such thing as a sant, is SGPC lost, but isnt it what tells us what to do? well all these Qs and all these ppl fighting and not agreeming meant he kept away from sikhi. And to answer the topic more directly, parchaar is needed alot to inspire ppl to get into sikhi, they listen to one parchaarck and his view different to the one they listened to yeserday so they leave confused and not so inspired. ALso, we got some great parchaaraks but when they fighting among themselves or the sangat is criticising them, then they are forced to stop. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
  17. maybe ur right guest, maybe sikhism takes a lot from islam + hinduism, but er i think its more like we took the good parts from both and left out the **** anyways as long as u know that the modern versian is perfect ie.sikhism. we are in kaljug, now ppl are mainly on the worng path, they need to be shown the truth , stay on this forum for a while and we'll show u what i mean by the truth. in fact by joining this forum ur half way to learning, congrats for coming on the SIKH forum, if u become a sikh u would be joining many other converts who left the other religions of the world for truth. Maybe to inspire u further in this path u should read up on 3HO started by Harbhajan Yogi which shows how one SIKH man brought so many white western ppl onto this path of truth and equality. on a side note, no need to type in red letters, red reminds me of the innocent ppl that died at the hands of the muslims... ie.blood... anyways Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

one particular sant might be satisfied with what he has eaten and leaves the rest, but oh does he give it to the sangat to eat?? OR does one of his chelas eat it, lets get serious kurtas the sant is amritdhari his chela is amritdhari so why r u getting into that, there is no jooth between amritdharis and the topic is not abt jooth between amritdharis or is it @ Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

this is the wildest guess but il say my dum guess. maybe when u have kaam but u cant fulfil ur desire u get frustrated so it comes out in krodhh dunno but thats a guess. apart from that i think a guy who has krodhin youth usually has the same anger as adults so i dunno if the 2 are really connected in any other way. but personally me thinks krodh is never more or less only when u get old u got less energy to shout .

wow i didnt know that, thats mad, i mean interesting, but yeah i heard this story where this hindu sannyasin i think- well he obviously ate from ppls give outs and one day he ate from someones house and from that day he started wanting to be with a woman or something along that stuff. and when he asked someon or prayed to find out why he got the answer that he ate from the house of a guy who sold his daughter and the money he got also bought the food this guy ate so thats why. anyways that was a interesting point Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
