  7. Unfortunately Kurtas, you are wrong in something. It was not the fault of the builders when it comes to Duncan St Gurdwara in Wolverhampton - it was the fault of the corrupt commitee... the one that was in term last. A certain contract was conveniently "lost" by a member of the commitee which entitled the Gurdwara to get compensation off the builders for each week they went over the agreed time limit. It seems this particular commitee member was in on a scam - funnily enough has never returned to the commitee. As for Bhai Mohan Singh, well get Bhai Mohan Singh running all Birmingham Gurdwaras, and you would have a much more pleasant Birmingham. Ive seen what that guy does for the local community and he is fantastic. As for Smethwick Gurdwara... im sick of the stupidity of this Gurdwara being brought into scrutiny all the time on the forum. Theyre stupid. You're stupider for making it worse on a forum. And im probably the stupidest for writing this reply when all i mean to say is ... KEEP IT OFF THE FORUM IF YOU AINT GOT THE BALLS TO FORM A PANEL CAPABLE OF SORTING THE ISSUE OUT FACE TO FACE WITH THEM.
  8. Do any of you guys know what this guy has been convicted of??
  9. Zee TV's 'Desh Dhroh' admonished by Sikhs Sunday 12th March, 2006 Panthic Weekly News Bureau Amritsar Sahib, Punjab (KP) - Sikh Organizations have expressed outrage against the airing of a TV story on Zee TV labeled "Desh Dhroh", criticized the over reaction by the Punjab Police and blamed the private TV network for causing unecessary paranoia. Representatives of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Dal Khalsa, and other organizations blamed Zee TV for attempting to create disharmony in the social and political environment of Punjab. DSGMC has threatened to take legal action against the private broadcasting company. In New Delhi, several members of the Indian parliament met Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, and sought a probe into what provoked a TV channel to run a story on the Khalistani movement at this moment. "We requested the Home Minister to order an investigation into what was the immediate provocation behind such a news report" Singh, a former Chief of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), told PTI after meeting Patil. In a separate move, senior Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) member Manjit Singh, President of Delhi's Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic), said he has filed a complaint with the NCM on the news report he alleged has portrayed Sikhs as separatists. "The news story, mostly composed of material dug up from archives, was in fact disparaging to the Sikh community," he said. The overzealous reporting in "Desh Dharoh" flashed images of dozens of Sikh individuals including Shingara Singh Mann of France, who is spearheading the ‘Right to Turban’ campaign, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Aulakh, Dr. Paramjit Singh Ajrawat, Gurmit Singh Khalsa all from USA, among others and attempted to portray them as ‘terrorists’ by implication. According to a statement released by Dr. Ajrawat, of the Anti-Defamation Sikh Council, “Such a libelous statement maligns countless Sikhs who are loyal citizens of the two countries, serve in the armed forces, and contribute to the wealth welfare of society. Moreover, following 9/11, many Sikhs became victims of hate crimes, assaulted, and even killed, because they were mistaken for Arabs.” The statement further states: “…that the Sikh Nation's identity and religion including that of Christians, Muslims and others are not safeguarded in India. When Hindu leadership advocates Hinduvta (Hindu Way of Living) and Hindu Rashtra (Hindu State) as National Mandate, their claim goes unchallenged and they are celebrated as national heros by the Indian media and majority Hindus. But when the Sikhs and others talk freedom they are automatically labeled as terrorists and punished to that effect.” “The recent arrests of Sikh Leadership including S. Simranjit Singh Maan and leaders of Dal Khalsa for staging a peaceful demonstration for self determination and freedom of Khalistan, is yet another reminder of Indian State's continued repression against its minorities.” Meanwhile, Zee TV, now under pressure from all sides, has given a lukewarm 'apology' to the Sikh community for airing the program. 10. this will keep coming up time n time again and yes had been discussed here http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=16659&st=24 but its been removed. And its Navreet Singh (Coventry) and Satnam Kaur (Handsworth Wood). Both should be punished... He knows FULLY well what he is doing - they BOTH know fully well. They both fully know its against maryadha. They twist lines of Gurbani for themselves so it appears that Maharaj is with them... but it seems they r forgetting Maharaj is always with them when they do these putthe kamm. This issue has been floating around for over a year now and it hasnt been resolved because they deny it to people when questionned but now its all coming out and they will have to reap what they sew.
  11. haha how ironic?! they should join topics ... http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=16659&st=24

  13. VGKK VGKF I have a question - something thats been bearing on my mind for a long long time now... When sad things happen... when people die... when i lose someone close to me... when i see poverty or cruelty in the world... when i saw someone die infront of me in a car accident... everyone else, male / female adults n children around me cry at seeing such things. I can bear a lot of things.. i can bear seeing those vile images on tv others cannot stand ... and i never shed tears. A lot of sensitive, emotional feelings i bear within me dont seem to bring out tears... and it makes me wonder... are they significant...? Am i just.. heartless? Why dont i cry when these things happen and everyone else cries rivers of tears? It annoys me too... because i know when i was younger and did shed those tears, that there was such a release and relief it brings and makes u feel good. But now, this never happens. I feel i have no heart when this happens. And i feel like the only one... and if im not the only one, then i feel like im the same as those cruel cold heartless people in the world who we hear about in the news having killed a lot of patients or hurt innocent children etc etc. I know i would never do those things but it still makes me feel like a cold person. Are tears significant? VGKK VGKF
  14. i have a couple n im sorry to all kids in advance! i know one of my aunts who doesnt pronounce the u in Focus when she says Ford Focus! she says Fawd Fawkes sounds a bit rude though! And i know a guy who used to refer to his fone as Ericsson but his pronociation was terrible! I will leave you to work out how it may have sounded...! and i remember once, never mind someone SAYING bindow instead of window, my dad actually WROTE bindow with a b! lol
  15. Unfortunately i disagree to some extent. What i am about to say is not what i agree with but how things are... IN an ideal perfect world everyone would not have lustful thoughts or have bf gf relationships etc etc. In an ideal world, if a guy liked a girl, he wud tell his olds, get them to approach her olds and so on... HOWEVER, i believe from what i have seen... bf gf relationships happen and will continue to, even within sangat. Thats how it is ajj kal. BUT i believe that Gursikhs with a "position" in society have a certain obligation to others who they inspire. My example : a very popular young keertani i know is going out (hush - hush) with a girl i know. The relationship - i know for a fact - entails usual bf gf stuff. And it disgusts me ... more because this guy (and indeed the girl too) are quite inspirational to a lot of youths. And if the youths found out about it (which they normally do neway) then i know it will dishearten them ... and thats something ive fallen victim to in my own life, so i know how it feels. Yes, bf gf relationships are allowed as long as the intentions are 100% honourable (ok, 99.9999%). But i believe people who are known or seen as GurSikhs who do a lot of seva or are "internationally known" for their keertan or katha and what not, have an obligation to sangat to make certain sacrifices to flawlessly spread the word of the Guru and not allow any room for scandal to tarnish Guru Jee. theres been many examples in the past of people who are given so much respect and maan, only to later on be xposed with proof and banished from Sikhi. Has to be noted though that every member who classes themself in sangat has an obligation to the rest of the sangat to keep doing sangat with izzatt and not to bring shame upon Sikhi. Just my opinions. Probably said some wrong things which may offend some so i do sincerely apologise for that. please do correct me when i am wrong.
  16. i dont know how to some up what i need to say in a nutshell but i shall try... I wish to... "renew" my faith. Admit to my wrong doings to Guru Maharaj and make a solid commitment to Him. I didnt know nothing when i was a kid. I was attracted by the big kirpaanaa Singhs used to wear and that done it for me. So the solution involves two options: 1. Go peshi infront of 5 pyaare 2. Take naam dirirh from AKJ, after taking my amrit again. I believe, having read the posts on the forum, that number 2 is the best option, as my friend did a few weeks ago. I was scared as to how people from other jathas (such as Taksaal) who i know, wud react to me re-taking amrit. To be honest, i dont find many UK taksali singhs to be very ... warming, if they feel u "going from" taksaal to akj. i have normally found myself a lover of all jathas - this has been the problem. I class myself as a Sikh. I have realised some of the most amazing Singhs and Kaurz i know are classed as AKJ ... and they must be doing something right because a LOT of youth coming into Sikhi nowadays are coming into Sikhi... thanks to AKJ. Thanks to the smagams, the keertani, the rehansbhais, the jeevans, the seva, everything. it is so inspirational and moving to see. again, im not akj... but u have to give credit where its deserved. I done some silly things in my life... and the only Singhs n Singhnia who stood by me were those who live by the AKJ maryadha... the others, they jus snubbed u like ure <banned word filter activated> off their shoes! Theres a post on Tapoban i totally agree with : http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=65873&t=65873 Lets open our eyes a lil people - it DOES matter who gives amrit di daat - we have to keep our eyes open in this age of kali yuga. Ure not going to sit blindfolded in a room and wait for some random singhs in five to come and grace u with amrit. YOU do think of the jatha u r taking amrit from before u enter the divaan. U watch how they prepare the amrit. Make sure that everythings on par with the maryadha you have been taught. IN AN IDEAL WORLD, yes, all amrit would be the same. But this is not the case. This is not sat yuga. Its a dark age and i think too many people try n hide this fact. That doesnt mean go n create divisions - just do what you have to do and dont say nothin to no one. I know u learned singhs such as ak-47 and all-info will have educative replies to above and i look forward to them, for i know that everything i say may not be 100% correct. I am on the learning path ... Im the lowest of the low... forgive my mistakes pyaario.
  17. completely wrong if in one amrit sanchaar you are told its ok to eat meat. is this the same as another amrit sanchaar which says dont eat meat???? no. it isnt. there is only one amrit, so there can only be one rehit. you cant have panj pyareh saying u can eat meat in 1 amrit sanchaar and saying u cant at a anova amrit sanchaar. jus like u cant hav the 5th kakaar as kes and keski 143770[/snapback] I read all the posts above by all-info etc and thats fine... but i agree with amarjeet singh on this one. If u heard tomorrow that nirankaris were to start doing amrit ceremonies.. would you agree with it? Or if in amrit ceremonies, a certain jatha started to say "u can have one glass of wine a day", would you stand by them? Are there not lines already drawn in how amrit is given, what is said and what can be done? and all-info jee, please re-read my earlier posts. I did not say the amrit given to me was fake or had no cred - it was a statement regarding the ones who were "giving" it.
  18. if u took amrit from a jatha who were later proved to be "fake" GurSikhs, does this mean the amrit you recieved from them is kinda "void"...? i feel like i am in this situation - the jatha i took amrit from have no cred left in Sikhee...
  19. WGKK WGKF Just wanted to ask, a friend of mine re-took Amrit not too long ago from AKJ. I think originally he took it from Taksaal. Is it ok to retake amrit? I thought you go pesh if you need to "renew" your amrit?
  20. Please elaborate on what is meant by "affiliated"? I dont have any membership card or anything. Anywhere we can sign up? Does this mean Gursikhs who are non-taksaalis may not attend?
  21. forget shin kin learn some gatka or shaster vidhiya - at least if u go to a proper ustaad u will learn get some proper vidhiya - n not the watered down version
  22. forget BOSS. they were good pre-2001. Nowadays, they just stink. Contact the Student Union of your college or uni to see what the requirements are for setting up a ratified society. U r a bit late now, to be honest. You mainly recruit during intro week. You can still do it though. Better late than never. If you need help organising, i suggest you contact the more independent Sikh societies such as Kings College London or UCL. The London ones mainly, or possibly Leeds? Manchester? Bradford sikh socs?
  23. Just wondering on what sangat thinks of the following...
  24. Haha Yeh it is but hey does it reli matter... i mean come on, this is Alton Towers!! Im not sure what the slogan is any more... is it "Alton Towers - where wonders never cease?" or "Sikh Societies - Where wonders never cease?!"
