  8. Education. Sangat. Enlightenment. Camps help people either A: Come into Sikhi... or B: Help those already into Sikhi to progress further. They give people a chance to learn more about what our Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee ACTUALLY says, as an oppose to that "make it up as you go along" method that a lot of parents and the older generations use.

  11. Congress objects to Gandhi film By Navdip Dhariwal BBC News, Delhi The filmmaker says he is fascinated by Sonia Gandhi India's ruling Congress party has threatened legal action to stop a film being made about the life of party president, Sonia Gandhi. The party says it objects to the film because it does not have consent either from Mrs Gandhi or any other member of her family. The Italian-born Sonia Gandhi is married into India's most powerful political dynasty. Often in the spotlight, she has personally shied away from publicity. The widow of former Indian leader Rajiv Gandhi would have become India's first foreign prime minister had she not surprised everyone by turning down the post after her party's election success in 2004. She then said her inner voice had dissuaded her from taking the top job, but remained leader of the Congress party. Party fears Indian film director, Jagmohan Mundhra, has persuaded Italian actress Monica Bellucci to play the lead role. The film, due for completion in December, is to be shot in the UK, Italy and India and is set to chronicle 40 years from the time Sonia met her husband Rajiv at Cambridge where they both studied. But the Congress party has served a legal notice to prevent Mr Mundhra from making the film. It says Mrs Gandhi has not given her permission and the party fears the film might contain inaccuracies. The film maker has not responded to the legal notice, but in the past has spoken of his fascination with Mrs Gandhi, a woman who he says effectively rules a billion Indian people but is not Indian herself.

  14. Its happening because the transition from going to a society where caste exists to a society where caste is not a boundary, is slow. Its happening, IMHO, but its slow. Its not so much the amrit dhaari families who have the problem. Most of them are very loving, very prem wale. But they are influenced by their families. Their cousins, grandmothers, etc etc and so ull find parents' go along with it to save the hassle that they will get for marrying out of caste.
  15. ok Piddu - i just think if it was that bad, she would not have gone back. Thats all im trying to say. I do agree with ure point about the second chances, and if thats what she really done and got burnt again, then i do really feel sorry for her, yet admire her for giving the chance again. We will sort it out. Im sure of it. I am not saying i am going to single handedly get up and change it all. Nothing of the sort. Maharaj is the only one who has the power to do that. Its all in His hands. I have done Ardas to Maharaj on this matter and it is His will what happens next. I think this camp is going to go ahead this year but if the same bs does continue from Sikh Stu camp, then i think we will find it will not be back next year. Theyve been given a lot of chances by people this year so all eyes will be on this camp... inside and outside the camp. There are divisions because of the chances people are giving the camp to improve this year and their have been many discussions around the UK regarding it. But next year... we will ALL make sure that the camp will be adjusted or shut down if this year, the outcome is similar to previous Sikh Student camps. Forgive my many many mistakes and i am sorry if i have offended anyone, which knowing me, i probably have done again...
  16. If it doesnt, then i tell u sumin, we got too many Sikh cowboy wannabes around who are all talk and type, but no action.

  20. Bush and Singh in nuclear talks [bBC NEWS ONLINE] Manmohan Singh and George Bush have hailed a new partnership US President and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have held talks to discuss a proposed landmark nuclear deal between the two countries. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the G8 summit in the Russian city of St Petersburg. The controversial deal would give India access to US nuclear technology. It reverses US policy which had restricted nuclear co-operation since India tested a nuclear weapon in 1974. The agreement was finalised during US President George W Bush's visit to India in March. The accord has been hailed as historic by some, but critics say it will damage non-proliferation efforts. A US Senate committee and a House of Representatives panel backed the deal last month. Reports said Mr Singh sought Mr Bush's support for successful completion of the deal during the 40-minute meeting. "There are some concerns which worry us and worry our parliament," Mr Singh was quoted telling Mr Bush during the meeting by the Press Trust of India. "We are a democracy and we are accountable to the parliament which zealously keeps a watch on what we do and what we do not," the report quoted him saying. Mr Bush was quoted telling Mr Singh that he was "optimistic" about the deal being passed. "It's an important piece of legislation. I'm optimistic we'll get that passed," the Associated Press quoted him telling the Indian prime minister before the meeting. The final vote on the proposed agreement is not expected till the middle of July. The proposed agreement reverses US policy to restrict nuclear co-operation with Delhi because it has not signed the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and has twice tested nuclear weapons in 1974 and 1998. Terrorism Under the deal, energy-hungry India will get access to US civil nuclear technology and fuel, in return for opening its civilian nuclear facilities to inspection. But its nuclear weapons sites will remain off-limits. Critics of the deal say it could boost India's nuclear arsenal and sends the wrong message to countries like Iran, whose nuclear ambitions Washington opposes. Reports said Mr Singh would also raise India's concerns about rising terrorism in South Asia in his meetings with world leaders in light of last week's train blasts in the western city of Mumbai. Mr Singh has said he would also raise the issue of "zero tolerance" on terrorism. "The international community must isolate and condemn terrorism wherever they attack, whatever their cause and whichever country or group provides them sustenance and support," the Press Trust Of India quoted him saying.
  21. I will pretend i didnt read that. Why go back another year? You are saying give it another chance, yet you also are asking why go back antoher year. Singh Ji jago, that is a izzat of a sister, its comes before any camp. its my sister you are talking about, i suggest you think again next time. Imagine how hard it is for a Bibi to come forward and talk about being sexually abused. You cant Singh. Imagine it was your sister. Its good you and your friends are willing to give it another chance, but maybe others feel a sister and her izzat is more important. You carry on pretending then Singh ji. Theres just too many hidden agendas people have... suprisingly, they hide their agendas and their identities. if they were true warriors, they would stand up and say who they are. But most of the idiots that go on about Sikh Stu camp just hide their identities so thats one reason i dont take the crap people say online. If they say that they have changed the way they are running things, then lets hope they have and give them this chance. Because you, legally, have no right to stop the camp and you may not be able to. Im not gonna tell you how, but ive been working with some of them this year and i know some of their plans to turn things around. Not saying they will, or that it will work. But im willing to work with them FIRST to help them improve things, rather than against them. I give everyone a chance and make up my own mind about things. Dont need stupid blogs or "anonymous users" thinking for me. I have met this bibi and as she said at the meeting in Gravesend she has no enmity towards anyone who runs the camp. She mentioned her personal incident at the camp a few years ago and spoke on behalf of some of her friends who are now married and don't want to come forward. Golee Maro as an older brother I would say you need a slap for your inconsiderate comment above. In any society it is not easy for a woman to come forward and talk about any gross misconduct of a s£xual nature. She has managed to gain the courage after several years to come forward only to be labelled a "whinger" from people like you. I personally think the Camp organisers are not mature enough to control and carry out this camp. That's my opinion based on my own cousins and family friends attending this camp as well as being at the meeting in Gravesend. Living local to where the Camp is held I have had to hear a lot of strange rumours over the past few years based around what goes on during the Camp. So much so even the local Singh Sabha Gurdwara Committee call it the Sanatan Camp. Basically the Sikh Student Camp has a bad reputation and over the years they have done nothing to combat that reputation. I would not recommend the Camp to any of my cousins or local sangat as I lack confidence in the organisation and people running the camp. As a younger brother, i would accept the slap I didnt mean to call her a whinger, but why did she go back the second year? That was my point...
  22. OHH its her Birthday?! WKDD! Been a while since i seen u Gurjy! Hope ure doing well and have the bestest birthday. ure truly blessed. a God send. H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y !
  23. well im not against this camp nor for this camp at the moment but i will be on one side come September where i will make up my own mind whether this camp has changed or not. I think it deserves a last chance - and by then if its still clear theyre not cleaning up their act, i will also join in the campaign to stop it. But i think one last chance is needed esp this year seeing as so much has happened. My friends also agree and will to see when it comes September. I respect Sharan Kaur from the West Midlands. Shes not afraid to reveal her identity and you can tell from that alone she believes in it strongly. *also somewhere it said a bibi went to a camp two years and both years she had people talking sexually to her... if it went on for two years, including the first, why go back again and then whinge about it?
  24. this has alredi been discussed!!! but yeh i do get what ya saying. my only worry is the innocent people who have already become a part of this camp. Shut down the camp and it could damage them unfairly. So this has to be treated with extra delicacy and tactic.
