  1. Jeez, why can't you just accept that something is right? I actually wrote responses to basically everything you just said, but then I realized you probably weren't going to listen to me and I probably wouldn't reply back to your reply, so I don't even care. I said, in a SENSE he was God. Don't listen to me if you don't want to, this thread is done for all I care.
  2. You still have it wrong; the quotes should go around "one" not "with". So you're one with God and you're the same person or being as him.
  3. The thing is though they were one with God. So in a sense, they were God. There should be a choice "All of the above" or something like that, because he really was...
  4. Some bhangra I will admit has a catchy beat or something like that, but the reason I don't want to associate myself with it is because the stuff associated with bhangra tends to be bad. There's lots of other things that you could listen to or do that isn't related to drinking, etc. And plus, imho, I don't like most bhangra, there may be one or two tracks that sound good, but then again there are at least one or two tracks of every genre that may be good, doesn't mean I like that particular genre.
  5. Jeez... Not trying to beat on you specifically, but I've seen this a bunch of times, so I have to say: 1) Don't type in caps... 2) Don't say the same stuff people have already said...
  6. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/t/team...e.html?team=ind We did really bad in the qualifiers...
  7. When guru ji went around and traveled on foot and all that, he learned about other religions and put together the good in them, he didn't try to find faults... after all, that's why we have all the different people of different religions quoted in the SGGS, but only the good stuff.
  8. http://victorinoxindia.com/Products_ks1_2812.htm Coolest kirpans ever, end of story Some people say "That's just like showing off" but not really; they're well made in addition to just looking flipping awesome, hahaha
  9. Maybe we can't really change what they're doing, so I guess that's why I can't really say this thread is really helpful (the point about showing why we don't do some of these things, though, is a good reason for it, I guess). I just want to say in response to all the posts saying "We shouldn't think of them badly because they do this, it's just their way of life" : I'm a Sikh because I think Sikhism is the best religion; sure, let them believe what they want, maybe, and we should let them accept it, but I still think it's weird/pointless/not good for you in any way, and shouldn't we believe that if we're to believe our religion is the best? Or are we just following the religion because our parents did... I dunno, this is a weird thread nevertheless...
  10. The jokes we hear about Sikhs are also not based on any truth . Regarding myself I first received a joke and replied with a joke . I did not send first mind you . ... I know all of that; that's what my whole post was about... I was trying to explain how sending back another joke, in my opinion, wasn't the best thing to do. I don't think you got what I was trying to say, re-read my post maybe...
  11. Just search Google... for like "mp3 splitter" or whatever format the file is in, you should easily find something.
  12. I thought it meant "there is only one God"..?
  13. So... does anybody actually know the line in Gurbani where it mentions ghosts/spirits? Just wondering what it actually says.
  14. Still didn't answer my question; you said we're doing it politically, but how??? Politically is not an answer... And totally forget the armed struggle; people say Khalistan is so that there won't be another '84... so we're going to massacre our people? Check out the new post (I'll make it in a bit) and vote; let's see how many people would even go to war for Khalistan, I'm just wondering. Really, though, a war isn't what we need; my main point has always been that we could be doing something else, other than fighting for Khalistan. If something works just as well, but doesn't have deaths, isn't that better?
  15. Like it's stated in the topic name: "No disrespect intended" That's totally hypocritical. I'd rather have replied by making fun of some aspect of their life that's probably true--which is not hypocritical, because (hopefully) their joke wasn't based on any truth whatsoever (and if it was, well.... maybe that's a good thing you heard to joke, so you can fix it). Or better yet, just ignore it, seriously; like who cares?? Do you know the person? Posting jokes like this is okay in my opinion, but only if we mean it as it is--a joke. Don't go out telling it to Bahmans...
  16. Jeez, last time I posted bad about Khalistan I got totally "pwnd" (well, not in my mind, but in everyone elses), so I want to try to explain my views rationally, but first you have to answer this question: How will you get Khalistan? Just be straightforward; I don't want to hear any stuff about why we need it, just how we're going to get it. I'm not saying you can't get it, I just want to know the ideas that anybody has in mind.
  17. It's basically the same thing; topic shouldn't say "on chain" it should just say... like endorsing the khanda anywhere
  18. You're not a bad sikh if you keep improving yourself--you're just starting lower than par You're a bad "sikh" if you do things that are anti-sikhi (you know what they are...) but don't try to fix your faults. In that case, you're not really a sikh then (hence the quotation marks around sikh). And remember, most faults can be fixed by doing naam simran; cleanse your mind and just forget about the bad deeds. My grampa was explaining this to me today :|
  19. Well, I dn't know much about that, then. I know if you go to Real's main webpage they have programs for that, but it's tricky, and I think you need some actual hardware to do it, which is why I would suggest you use something other than RealMedia, something that works in Windows Media Player, so that it's more accessible to everyone. I know a friend that knows how to do it, I'll ask him to post.
  20. You need iTunes? lol It works in basically any media/music player.
  21. Yeah, when I asked about that last time I got no response; I've heard of some reference to spirits in Gurbani, but I don't know where... has anybody else heard of this?
  22. Wow! that's amazing! She has really neat handwriting. How far is she? Hope she gets better. She looks like my massi hahaha In the second pic at least.
  23. I tried to make this dummy-proof and explained a lot, so if you know what you're doing, you can skip around, the actual process isn't that long. So first go to Sikhnet.com Gurbani MP3 Files page, collapse the MP3 section and uncollapse (compose?) the RealMedia section (you can't download MP3's unless if you are a paying member, as far as I know). Link Find the track that you want and click on it. Example Link Now it might get a bit weird. You have to download the RealMedia file of the shabad, so... the best way I would say is to use Mozilla Firefox, because it's already so cool, and it'll catch the download and ask you were to save it. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer you have to do something weird; first you have to click on the shabad and then you right click and hit "Save Target As..." If you don't click on the link first, it will try to save the target as a .htm (or similar) file. After hitting the link wait for RealPlayer to open up then try to download. Make sure to check that the extension is .rm or .ram (I don't think RealMedia files have any other extension). You could download the .htm file and then look for the link in there, but that's actually more work. Because of this annoying process, if you're going to download many files, I would use Firefox. Or... you could use a download manager that catches the link when you click on it, but I won't explain that. Example Link to .ram File I know it's lame, but the process isn't done. Sikhnet is actually pretty smart, so when they give streaming audio, it's actually true streaming audio (other times the file is saved in your cache, in which case if the link is hidden you could actually just go to your temp folder and find it... cool). So the file you downloaded is just telling RealPlayer where the real file is. And this real file can't be downloaded using normal means (because it's true streaming audio). To find where the real link it, right click on the .rm or .ram file and hit "Open With..." Find notepad, or some other text editor, and open it. There will be a link written in the file, but if you notice it doesn't say "http" it says "rtsp". This is why you need another program to download the file. I just searched "download rtsp" (without quotes, duh) at Google and found a bunch of freeware links. You should be able to tell the program where the file is and download it. Yay! That's it... lol I'm not sure if Sikhnet would really want you to do this, so if you can get a paid membership and download the .mp3 files, first of all .mp3 files are much cooler than .rm or .ram in my opinion, and second of all you're supporting the great site that Sikhnet is. Plus, this is kind of "tricking the system" so... I don't know if we're even allowed to do it...? It's not really hacking or anything, though, so I don't see how we could get in trouble, really... Well, hope that helps; PM me if you have any questions (I don't wanna flood this thread or anything).
