  1. Calm down and don't misinterpret. Sikhs born in UK can usually spot the one's that are 1st gen-immigrants, just like the UK born get spotted in India as valeties, quite easily. I believe the UK police are quite aware about not entering darbar sahib with shoes on, as they have learned from past incidents in 80's,90's. Like Sat, I also believe the op to be quite sincere, and the issue is about health and safety, due to the sangat coming in large numbers without permission. If there is no one in charge or willing to be held responsible for the health and safety of those persons......who's going to answer if there was a major issue ? BTW- health and safety issues are given much much more importance in UK, than in the americas. I don't know the ins and outs of the situation, but it seems the police were called in because of possible evidence of threat or trouble and It doesn't seem like a 999(911) emergency call.
  2. Yes, why not just brush it all under the carpet like lsingh says! What about the evidence that vanished ? sorry if you may personally know one of the singhs ?
  3. It was most likely billions of rupees and not millions !! It's common knowledge amongst some people here that one of the prime suspects that walked away, actually bought himself out. I believe he is a multi millionaire that paid huge amounts for confiscation of vital evidence that investigators had........suddenly this evidence just vanished ! Oh yes these bombers and suspects all come across as sikhs of the highest order and the suspected billionaire is also the person that funded and started the khalsa school and khalsa credit union bank !!
  4. That's even worse ! He's selling out sikhi by referencing the wrong terms for satguru. As an amritdhari, he should know better. In my opinion, it's a disgrace and much worse than what you guy's complain about jazzy b and the likes. The jazzies and the dosanjhs may be contradicting themeselves, but they are not amritdharies and sworn into the brotherhood of khalsa.- thiis the worst case of misleading.
  5. I don't know what's going on around here, but K.S.Makhan has recently done a number of ravidassia songs. As well as the misleading ''gurpurb guruan da'' about bhagat ravidass who is addressed as shri satguru ravidass. Then there is also another one called ''khalsa da tara or tara khalse da'' and when you hear the song and see video, you realise it's about bhagat ravidass again ?? .................hang on,...am I missing something here...'Khalsa' and 'ravidass'.. go hand in hand do they ?? There's also some others out there that came out in last few weeks. We have no problem with bhagat bani, but when ravidassia and dera ballan go about making references of Satguru, and sri guru..under the banner of sikhi, then I'm afraid there is a huge problem.
  6. it's all interesting stuff. We should have some more clearer info within a few years because there is a lot of current studies with people that an recall past lives. A few of these are looking deeper into the actual births of the said. There has been some suggestions that births were complications arise and where there is some significant delay in cutting the umbilical cord are most likely to be be babies with more prominent memories of past life. ! :waheguru:
  7. -Have you tried adding some raag or rhythm to it ?? I'm not saying singing, but just say the tuks with a little vocal composition like you hear some of the popular paathis doing. This can be done out loud or better,if done silently and internally. - Problem is that we become so used to speed reading other books and then lot's of people end up doing the same thing with paat. I am not a fan of this and neither do I get impressed when people brag that they do japji in less than 5-7 minutes. - The way around avoiding this speed reading type reciting,- - is to make first make sure you are saying every word clearly and make sure that the last part of every word is clearly being pronounced.(I think this is what tuhintuhin ji above, was trying to emphasize about the grammatical parts ?) My little TIP here would be, - to listen to your own self and see if you are giving enough emphasis towards the end of the word and tuk as you do when starting the line. This listening to yourself applies for both quiet/silent reciting and reading out aloud. -Another little secret when doing it mentally and silently, is to have it at a HIGH Internal Volume within, as if you are shouting or saying it with full power from the bottom of your vocal chords. This should help drown out most inner thoughts.!! Some of you will complain that it adds an extra third to your normal time, but if you practice in this manner at first, and then speed up whilst keeping your OWN discipline from above few tips,...... You will find that you can come to a comfortable and personal speed where you can feel the anand. Try and be strict with this personal discipline, and make some of your own little rules as you go along, that you find help. For eg.. ....sometimes, I get to the end and think that i didn't feel that or I didn't do it properly like I usually can, ......then I apologize to Guruji and start it all over again from the beginning ! If this delays me for what I was going to do after,... then I tell myself ..Tough!!!!!
  8. Problem with any discussion of karma is that sadly it ends up mixed with reincarnation and vice versa. The posts seem to be veering off on tangents again, and it is important to address the issue as practically and simply as possible, without using and intertwining other concepts. I had stated the below in an earlier post- KARMA is from your lekha, which in turns molds and shapes your destiny. However, this destiny is ONLY applicable if you maintain at the SAME current state of consciousness. If you develop and evolve your soul/consciousness towards the higher states, then you, yourself change your own destiny ! For eg.. Kauda raksh, if he carried on and refused to realise God or refused to let his soul evolve higher, then his actions and past karmic imprints would have led him to the appropriate lower destination of destiny. HOWEVER, he made the effort to listen, learn and realise, that made him ask for forgiveness Thus, he was freed from all his destined bounds and shackles, and became ONE with supreme God conscious. In short, your own destiny will hold strong according to your karmic actions/imprints/influences at any given state of TIME ! But , you can move out of this destined graph line, if you LEARN to evolve. This is the REAL Learning of what SIKH actually means !! If you are not sure what I mean by the last bold-ed part, then please say so and i will try elaborate further. To ADD- Now, the karmic weights gained by parents going on to children has to be looked at in context in certain scenarios. These scenarios are ones where the HUKAM prevails as always and the play of karma and lekha unfolds below it, in this world. The point we are missing is that actions and reactions are exactly what they are, and have to viewed in totality. But don't forget, that it is ALL still under his hukam how he wants it played...ie. the effects may occur in this lifetime or maybe not ! Let me try explain with some practical examples- 1) Let's say Mr A kills and murders Mr B's son. As a result of this, Mr B goes through immense and traumatic suffering for many many years. In the process, his health may decline, he suffers severe mental health issues etc...etc.. or in other words- Extreme emotional/physical suffering due to loss of one and only son However, Mr A, the murderer, never had any family anyway and just does his 15 yrs in a cell and then comes out all fit and healthy with maybe, a little remorse. Now, even we all know that his 15 yrs is not equivalent to the suffering of Mr B. ....AND God, even knows exactly what the internal emotional pains and sufferings he went through. SO what may happen ??? (Remember, this is just an example to help understand the extents of how karmic effects can be playing.) Well there are many possibilities, but Mr A-the murderer of someone's son, will have to have rebirth to experience the love of a son. Then secondly, he shall also be made to suffer at the expense of losing the same son and experiencing exactly what Mr B went through. The problem is that the son of Mr A had nothing to do with it. BUT the same son is losing his life with some painful death because of his father's karmic weight. It's a little complicated now ? Yes, but this same innocent son, that has taken birth to help balance the family's karma, will also have had his own karma from some past. You see the domino knock on affect ? The whole play is under his HUKAM, which like I said earlier is the bigger umbrella that overlooks all the other pieces and players of the game. We can never predict how his balance of karma works, but the hukam will always oversee it. 2) Another way of looking at it is a slightly positive light ! For the same example above, lets say MR A did have a son. Then in return, his son too got murdered in some gang warfare. In this case, MR A will have been spared in a way, because he will have paid his karmic debt in this life already and gone through the suffering of losing a son. Then, in a twist, it may have completely turned him around and made him realise his wrong doings and embrace religion/God. Depending on the rest of his further bhagti and remorse to the divine, he may have actually got liberated or mukti from the cycle of birth and death. So, Mr A, even though he committed paap, then paid for them, then embraced the Lord to the max, will eventually be MERGED with the JYOT of Waheguru !!! At the end of day, we can see that God will keep giving us chances to BALANCE or karma, according to his HUKAM. His Hukam could mean suffering in this life, or suffering in the next life, or suffering, realizing, learning and finally merging into jyot of sachey patshaah. Just thinking about the whole drama unfolding around us makes us realize what a minuscule, yet necessary part we are to the whole of mankind.
  9. I've just looked into and checked into the CLA market, and boy it has really got big ! The 'tonalin CLA' is like a brand in brand. At one time because there were cheap eastern imports coming here that were no good, it was important to find the reputable maker. Looking for the 'tonalin cla' as the active ingredient helped with this. The Natrols brand above is good and the one you show above is the correct one i was referring to. However, I notice that the makers have got quite advanced in the stuff and that you no longer need to look out for tonalin but the %contents....etc.. I'm not impressed with the ''myprotein'' version you show, because it seems they are one of those importing & re-package companies. You see a lot of makers out there import all sorts of different stuff at low prices and just repackage with their own labels and bottles to sell at huge mark ups. They will buy the ingredients for something like $1/bottle and then re-package and re-label the contents, and sell for $40 !!! I realize that you are trying to lean up as well because I thought it was just for fat loss. In this case, I would say that the natrols brand is probably more of a woman's brand and not someone trying to build muscle. What you need to start with, is about 4g(4000mg) of PURE CLA. (someone with 200ibs weight) and preferably a brand that says ''CLA from 2 isomers'' or something similar so if a maker says 1000mg caps but then on the back it says 80% content- -then you are really getting 800mg of CLA, so taking 5 caps(5 x 800mg=4000mg), will give you 4g/ day. These MUST be spread out, so 2 in morning, 2 lunch, 2 evening, 1 night..etc..or even start 3 in morning, then 2 in pm and 2 at night. The only problem I know is that it can increase your cholesterol. So if you already have high cholesterol, then don't take them or check with some cholesterol specialist. Don't get scared, there is no more cholesterol than eating 2 samosas every day. So if you are young, then in the short term for 6-8 months is going to be fine as long as you work out and keep balanced diet. ((However, some reports claim that it can lower cholestrol, but this means the ''triglycerides'' in general. A little complicated to explain as cholestrol has a few components, but it is the natural GOOD cholestrol that it lowers.)) My only advice is that for us punjabis, we have real weak stomach/abs muscles. No surprise when you see all those bellies hanging out ! Even top punjabi athletes have to do that extra to keep the ''tedh'' down. When trying to lean up, some people will find they get more hungry as well. If this is the case and you find that gym workouts is making you want more than necessary, then it may be a good idea to take some 5HTP alongside. See how you get on, and below I will list some brands that should be good. http://www.fitshop.ca/supplements/cla.html the Allmax, Dymatize and Magnum are good choices. I know it's Canadian, but the brands should be available in US and UK as well.
  10. It's supposed to be good stuff. You are always going to find some critics giving negative reviews on everything BUT it is SAFE ! It helps with metabolism without messing with thyroid or adrenaline balances. It doesn't have problems of stimulants. But, you MUST get a good brand ! I find that manufacturers always jump in and try to give their own cheaper versions with short cuts in production costs. CLA, is one of them that has been jumped at because it is safe and the makers can afford to take the risks of missing out a few things. You should check the 'Tonalin CLA' site to get more info on reputable brands, but NATROL's Tonalin'' is a brand that i have heard is good but there are bound to be others out there. Research and find out the %lpercentage contents of CLA in each product because this is where the problem is. CLA works and has been proven, but trying to get a brand with high percentage content is what you need to check on ! Let us know How you get on ? I have known a few people at the gym be successful with this. They have also been talks about GARCINIA COMBOGIA and mixing the two together, but I don't know too much at the moment. Most health product users find that a 'stack or a combination of a few ingredients mixed together is better than taking high doses of one single product alone. '
  11. Yeh, it's not just a straightforward task, where everyone tries to justify a reason of who's responsible for what. KARMA is from your lekha, which in turns molds and shapes your destiny. However, this destiny is ONLY applicable if you maintain at the SAME current state of consciousness. If you develop and evolve your soul/consciousness towards the higher states, then you, yourself change your own destiny ! For eg.. Kauda raksh, if he carried on and refused to realise God or refused to let his soul evolve higher, then his actions and pas karmic imprints would have led him to the appropriate lower destination of destiny.
  12. karma is YOUR lekha and your doings. We all come with our own and we all go with our own.
  13. 'blind love' is what it is ! If people are just going to use computers and abuse their parents trust to do taboo and the forbidden's, then don't try and bring it into sikhi. Couldn't give a hoots if the guy was amritdhari. Fact is that both of you were deceiving your parents. This is as good as lying and stealing...after all it is ''chori chori'' You are a bigger fool, if you think you can trust a guy who meets you secretly on internet. How do you think he would trust you, knowing that you do the forbidden of communicating in secret and on top of that, after your parent's found out, you have still continued to deceive them by using your friends pc !!! These types of guys have a lot hidden in their closets. They are the sort that will consume liquor, drugs, play with hookers in secret from the rest of society, but they will trust blinded girls like you to back them up and help keep the secrets to maintain social status. Your only way to try and concentrate is to start doing some hard core simran. This will hopefully help awaken you and make you realise the foolishness. You mention haumai and ego, and you are just looking at theses terms superficially like an athiest/missionary does. The 5 dhuts/chor are a lifetime battle until your last breath. Only Naam simran can save you. I'm sorry, if I sound too hard. But I am not picking on you or singling you out. It worries me that so so many youngsters are out there falling into these same scenarios as you. With the technologies of today, the skypes, IM's, i phones, androids...etc.... it is just ALL too easy and tempting to follow dangerous desires. The crap in the media and tv is of no help either !
  14. I see what you are saying ! Here is one of the shabads where you have to look at the overall message and essence, after reading a few times. And then go back to each individual line to contemplate further. My Understanding in this case- The direct short answer for this particular question/tuk would be the very next line- ........O Creator Lord, You are the Master of all............... This says that You are the maker/creator of BOTH the slaughterer and the slaughtered.ie.. it is ALL part of your One creation. so, the question would be that if they are BOTH your makings, then do you feel compassion for the slaughtered or do you feel that the slaughterer was 'powerful' ? This answer is given further about who is Really powerful...''the One who plays in Ego or the One who kills their own ego''. We also know, who he brings more closer to him.....- It is NOT because he feels sorry for the slaughtered, but it is more the question of who acted in the most Ego I hope that explains and answers your question a little further !
  15. The two keywords that come to me from this shabad are- EGO and HUKAM. In ego, you may assume you are all powerful and invincible, and in turn play as God in giving out death(which is God's role) But it is ALL his Hukam that decides who or what becomes the cause/messenger of death.
  16. No,No,no........... you DON"T go and get married to a wife to fulfill your desire ! :nono: Far too many girls lives have been ruined by lust-thirsty apney. The only one thing i can say to paapi dude is, go try and meditate to help find your real-self. Your mind and hands are taking control and making you think they know what the best satisfaction is for you !!- You have to rise above this only if you can become AWARE of your real self.
  17. Meditation is the FIRST step that you can take to start increasing spiritual awareness. You may find that you keep shifting gears Up and Down at first and sometimes going in Reverse, like you feel now. But once the motor is going and is sure of the direction, the only way to go is Up. One method that I would recommend if you feel at a halt, is to read bani and do veechar. -(Work out, what the meaning is saying to YOU, personally) This will hopefully encourage increased hunger and thirst for waheguru. Then, the meditation/simran becomes much easier. I thoroughly believe that naam simran is a MUST for every one of us.
  18. No, Karma itself doesn't transfer to children or close ones. But it's a little more complicated, since we are in the world of Dualities. Any bad or good actions end up leaving imprints on one's aura energies. These negative energies especially, can get passed onto the children and 'Influence' their actions in similar ways ! For eg, parents that are alcoholics, heavy drug users, money swindlers..etc... end up leaving these negative energies around and they can latch onto the kids. Again, it also depends if the kid's have low vibrating aura energies or 'holes' as they call them. If they do, then they will absorb and be influenced by the negativities but if the kid has strong full vibrating aura, then he/she won't be affected at all. Imagine if a father was a bad boy, wife beating, alcoholic but the kid was a pure full vibrating sikh.- This strong energy kid would not be affected.
  19. I think you mean this one ! Ang555 ਸਲੋਕ ॥ Salok. Kabeer, the world is dying - dying to death, but no one knows how to truly die. ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ Aisī marnī jo marai bahur na marnā ho▫e. ||1|| Whoever dies, let him die such a death, that he does not have to die again. ||1|| ਮਃ ੩ ॥ Mėhlā 3. Third Mehl: ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਵ ਮਰਹਗੇ ਕੈਸਾ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ Ki▫ā jāṇā kiv marhage kaisā marṇā ho▫e. What do I know? How will I die? What sort of death will it be? If I do not forget the Lord Master from my mind, then my death will be easy. ਮਰਣੈ ਤੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਡਰੈ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਲੋੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ Marṇai ṯe jagaṯ darai jīvi▫ā loṛai sabẖ ko▫e. The world is terrified of death; everyone longs to live. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ Gur parsādī jīvaṯ marai hukmai būjẖai so▫e. By Guru's Grace, one who dies while yet alive, understands the Lord's Will. ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸੀ ਮਰਨੀ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ Nānak aisī marnī jo marai ṯā saḏ jīvaṇ ho▫e. ||2|| O Nanak, one who dies such a death, lives forever. ||2|| NOTE- I personally take this to mean that ''I want to die such a death just the once, whereby I can be merged with supreme consciousness of Akaal purakh.- I don't want to keep being reborn ...die....reborn..die...etc..(the 84 lak joon cycle). This is ref to Kabirji's salok. OR- You can also say that the dying again and again is telling you about dying daily in the shabad by doing naam simran. When we completely kill our thoughts in the meditative state and become nirgun/merged and immersed in shabad- then this itself is dying from the maya world around us ! ''Jivat marai'' (ref-Guru Amardasji)- to be dead whilst alive as in jivan mukht, whereby One is alive in body in sense of breath and pran, but in mind is dead from the world. Gurbani speaks to us ALL at different stages with the different messages. ps. The version you mention by Joginder Singh (riar) is one of my favourites. :biggrin2:
  20. I assume singhji is trying to gather whether it is an indefinite status or does it get removed after x-amount of acceptable posts ? :blush2:
  21. Gurdwara committee should be taking care of this by announcing to sangat regularly and sevadars should be around politely advising bibiyan to shut up and telling kids parents that it is not a playground and that all heads should be covered. I think it can ruin the atmosphere and vibes of peace that one should be encountering in any gurdwara. I also know that some of the committees interests are primarily with regards to golak and they turn a blind eye to these things.
  22. I think that may be google and not something to do with actual sites ?
  23. I agree with the above and you should check this post from a different thread as well ! http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/73375-mool-mantar-debate-ended/?p=599354
  24. They are NOT fake ! I'm afraid that sardar babey and hookers, happens quite a lot in the real world
  25. That's amazing ! and it pleases me when i hear about someone earning some true wealth of naam. It's also pleasing to know that he sleeps very little as i have also been noticing the same since going deeper into simran. OP-Indy Singh, I would also say that if you feel the urge or hint to be doing simran, then you should just go for it and jump right in ! I too was mona a few years back when i began to try and start simran. Then as i got more involved, I just felt that i shouldn't cut my hair- it's almost as if I felt that the hair was maintaining my spirituality and strength for some reason. Since then, i am no longer a mona and like to wear my pagh with pride and love. It just felt like the right thing to do after i started simran. It wasn't as if i had planned to keep my hair but the sequence of events just seemed to follow naturally from that initial step ! My advice is that you should follow your instinct and do naam simran whilst also trying to start some veechar and study of gurbani, and hopefully everything else should just follow on from there. Don't let things like hair, diet or being non-amritdhari put you off at the early stages.
