  1. Bottled water is sometimes just tap water that is filtered. ASDA said that it's cheap bottled water was just filtered tap water. Also when you say "heavier", it might be because you have hard water? It depends on the rock and amount of rock in your area. The north is more likely to have hard water. Hard water is just water with mineral salts in it. Chlorine is added to all tap water because it kills germs. Fluorine is also added because it is good for the teeth. Just filter your tap water or boil it.
  2. These places aren't really gurdware anymore, a gurdwara is a doorway to the guru. The guru doesn't reside there anymore. Neither does any sangat. A place stays in good condition if it is used. We will fix the gurdware today, but what will happen when they remain closed for a year with no visitors? Slowly the buildings will become derelict. Do you guys really think Guru Nanak Dev Ji would want a building built for him that isn't even used? That money could go to educating our future generations who will carry Sikhi on, not a gurdwara that has no purpose. Didn't Guru Nanak want to educate and teach? Is that not the reason for his udasis? This will slowly happen to gurdware in East Punjab. Take a look at the drug using youth. Most know nothing about Sikhi. Many pind gurdware are hardly used. I have only seen the buzurg (elderly people) in the gurdwara. Most kids cut their hair. I think we need to focus on keeping Sikhi alive rather than fixing gurdware that are bound to become derelict again. There are Sikhs in Madhya Pradesh etc. that don't have a gurdware, shouldn't we make one for them?
  3. I was told that the Buddha had long hair when he was a prince. But before he set off on his journey to enlightenment he cut off his hair because they were a sign of kings.
  4. You aren't from the "same village". You both moved there. Its like saying you can't marry someone from London because you both live there. You aren't original people of the village so there is no recent bloodline.
  5. Astronauts when they go up into space say they have felt a feeling of being connected to everything, as if everyone and thing is part of the same thing. It is said to be the same as meditation and the realisation people get from meditating. http://vimeo.com/55073825 Have we lost what it is to feel one with everything?
  6. You can change the colours using the edit style button. I hated the light blue, I'm on black and it makes a huge difference. Looks ok.
  7. Well Guru Nanak Ji did go to the Muslim/Hindu/(probably Jewish) centres. So I think he would also go to a major centre of the largest religion in the world. It makes, sense doesn't it?
  8. Like anyother country....? That is a good question. WHO would run it? We can't control a gurdwara without fighting. What do you think would happen if they had a country?
  9. You can read it with the link you have given. I think it is the third post? In English for those that can't read Punjabi: It basically says that '7-8 years ago my Gursikh friend started to go to Punjabi University Patiala. Class started, it was the first day. Students started to introduce themselves. A girl in the first row said "My name is Shawani Sharma, my father's name is SSP Rakesh Sharma". More students got up saying their name and their father's name and occupation. The Gursikh friend was thinking "what should I say, my father is a farmer". When his turn came, the friend said "Sir, my name is Harwinder Singh and my father is Guru Gobind Singh". The whole class was shocked and looked at the gursikh friend. The professor was very happy and went to the friend. The professor hugged him and said "wow, Guru Gobind Singh's son. DSPs and SSPs have got nothing on Guru Gobind Singh. These police inspectors have control over one realm but your father has control of all.'
  10. Never had this. I love going to my pind. It's the best part! It might have something to do with the pind's air, or your house might be dusty?
  11. I wasn't talking about you or your post bro. I was merely saying what I thought. I did not pass judgement on you or anyone else, neither am I bullying anyone. Am I not allowed to express my own opinion?
  12. If you want to follow something else, do it. Whatever appeals to you. Guru Nanak didn't tell people to convert or force them to follow his path. You are walking your own path on this Earth.
  13. ....Does it really matter? What else do you think it is for? Making the room smell nice. Besides the windows/doors are always open at darbar sahib so you can't smell anything anyway.
  14. Yeah, They seem to think millions of potential deaths is fun. Do you remember that thread about floods on 21st Dec. 2012? Is there a source somewhere we could see?
  15. I'd say do an assembly and tell people about whats happening. Tell them all the things Sikhs have done and how we aren't muslims.
  16. -.- Why do so many people seem like they're getting excited over the prospect that WW3 could happen? I think people have forgotten the 21/12/12 too soon.
  17. Tie a strong turban so it doesn't happen. Protect your head area so the enemy can't touch it. I'll be honest, it's happened to me once. I quickly put it on as the guy tried walking off. I then went and got revenge. Lets just say he doesn't make turban jokes anymore. Most people were understanding, and they've forgotten about it now. Running away is a bad idea. That's double the besti.
  18. I'd like to have a gun. And laws where you can act in self defence without fear of being prosecuted. I don't think SMGs and the like should be legal. Smaller guns like pistols are fine. As long as the person is in the right mental state and has passed an exam on using a gun.
  19. Maybe do something on sharing your food with people, helping other people, stopping bullying from taking place, generally being a good person and making a positive contribution to society. Why don't you say your Sikh appearence always reminds you to try to do the best you can and not make a fool of yourself, because you aren't representing yourself but the whole Sikh family and the hundreds of years of rich Sikh history. Make sure the assembly is captivating and intresting. Video can help and lots of pictures. I hate boring assemblies when teachers just talk to you.
  20. LOLOLOL. Do you have any idea what your beloved EDL think of people like us? They call us rag-heads, paki, turbanaitor, osama, any many other names. Don't tell me a chavy gora who knows jack <banned word filter activated> about the world has never said that to you? Many of them think us brown folk (all of us) are oppressing THEM! Being a Sikh you shouldn't admire anyone that hates other groups of people. And no I'm not a Muslim lover. Just don't admire your heroes too much, they may just let you down. Leh dekhla tera hero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eWdgV6iyPRs
