  1. The Bikarmi Calendar is the correct calendar...Purewals calendar is so flawed its just laughable!
  2. On Asthaa Channel, i once heard him say that Sikhism is part of Hinduism...i stopped watching his programs from that day!
  3. Dancing to Bhangra is a personal choice (not saying i do) but dancing to Gurbani...come on this is blatant beadbee - 3HO should know better!!! I don't think the innocent people dancing should be blamed but the organisers of this event are to be solely to be blamed for this beadbee.
  4. Has anyone else heard that Sonia Gandhi is coming to the UK next week? Does anyone know on what business she'll be coming and more importantly, if it is true what should Sikhs in the UK do?
  5. LightSearcher there are also those that feel that if someone has not been blessed with Amrit organised by their jatha then thisr too are not Sikh. We all have a personal relationship with God & Guru...who cares what others think.
  6. I've seen Sangat Tv have started playing the Census promo but have Sikh Channel & Sikh Tv?
  7. Islam & Christinaity seem to produce priests/imams born in this country...why aren't we? Why do Amritdhari's born in this country not think it will be socially acceptable amongst their peers to become a Granthi? Whats needs to changes? How can UK born Amritdhari's be trained to become Granthi's? Do we need to start investing into this now? Until we have UK born and bred Amritdhari Granthi's our Gurooghar's will never totally be able to engage with our youth who are born here. Also, i've noticed Granthi's are generally treated like cr*p by committees...someone that does what they're told and on a leash! I think its because either committee's are power hungry and don't let good Granthis do parchaar or Granthi's from India aren't actually capable of the role and do it just to come to the UK,as a result committees needs to micro-manage them. I do beleive, becoming a Granthi is not something any one can just do....its a passion to do parchar that one gets through the grace of Guru Jee. Finally, there's a saying in Inida, if a loafer can't find any job...then as a last resort,at least he can become a paathi and make some money! (These paathi usually come to UK as Granthi's) *PS i'm not saying all Granthi's in the UK are bad, as some are doing an exceptional job but just some observations of mine.
  8. i too called the number - the guy who answered wouldn't give his name & said the pardhaan wasn't there but wanted to know why i was calling. He said i can ask him anything. When i asked him "Did the community centre have any connection with the Gurdwara" the gentlemen replied 'No'. I then asked, "was sangats money used to fund the community hall"..he replied "People from Dudley donated whatever they wanted". I then asked "Was an announcement ever made from the stage in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee for any donations towards the cumminty centre"...he replied "No"...Then he slammed the phone down! Why slam the phone down, i only asked some genuine question!?!
  9. i just cant even image what maaha paap these corrupt masands are going to get for doing this maha beadbee! On top of it, they have no sharam and will try to justify their bajjar kurehit activities in Guru Granth Sahib Jee's hazzoorree today! Rab Ton Ta Daro!!
  10. My link Are I.J. Singh (that posts on Sikhcich) and Inderjit Singh from the article the same person? Either way, this Inderjit Singh appears to not even understand what his own father Sirdar Kapoor Singh Jee stood for! Dhan Dhan Sant Jarnail Singh Jee! Dhan Dhan Sirdar Kapoor Singh Jee!
  11. This is very good news! A big thankyou to Sangat TV for being the first to take up this upralaa!! Vaheguroo
  12. The best sources are all in panjabi...for simple panjab i'd recommend the translations of sree sooraj prakash in 3 volumes by Sodhi Teja Singh. He writes the sakhiya in very simple panjabi and sodhi teja singh doesn't add any commentary. Simple sakhia from one of the most reliable sources out there.
  13. have you tried raising more awareness about this project by having a promo shown on all 3 Sikh channels? A good promo like the one Khalsa Aid has will be very effective in galvanising support.
  14. i don't think there should be an issue with kids parties...provided there's no western/hindi/bhangra music etc. Now for the sake of argument, if we allowed any parties provided no meat/alcohol is to be served, i know very well what will happen. Most of my relatives are not Gursikh and drink/eat meat...i remember when i was young we had a close relative who did such a party (no meat/alcohol) - as it was a close wedding, my relatives decided to fill up all their car boots with alcohol and all the men at the party were in the car park of the hall getting drunk and once drunk, they went into the same party where there was no alcohol served! Now we all know this happens and will continue to happen even in the Gurdwara carpark - my relatives wouldn't give two hoots that its a Gurdwara carpark. So for this reason, NO PARTIES AT ALL (except kids as stated by SinghWarrior) should be allowed on any Gurdwara premises period!!!
  15. Is it me or does the boys side appear to be Hindu's and possibly from a Gujerati background? ...i hope i'm wrong!
  16. i too agree with you both...its been weeks now and its become beyond a joke - the committee are clearly making a mockery of Sikhi! We need to organise a protest!
  17. Its very impressive to see young western sikhs taking a stand and trying to follow in the footsteps of our Guroo Sahibs, who were true revolutionists! Our Guroo Sahibs showed us the way and ignited kranti within the masses and i'm glad to see that kranti(revolutionary) spirit still exits within us!
  18. This is very god news! I think the grays sangat, satkaar sevadaars and the UK sangart are to be congratulated!
  19. i've got a few calls last night and have also been getting alot of txt from alot Singhs from the midlands so the words def spreading - Maharaj kirpa there will be a large turnout!
  20. 'Kalistan 1984' Jeeo, I too hope the audio from the Southall Divan is made available online as Sant Baljeet Singh Jee’s divan in Southall absolutely amazing….Baba Jee killed it!!! Not only was it jam packed but I was truly glad that he was given the satkaar he deserves…his seva is absolutely amazing!
  21. Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee - Ang 923 raamadhaas sodtee thilak dheeaa gur sabadh sach neesaan jeeo ||5|| The Guru then blessed the Sodhi Ram Das with the ceremonial tilak mark, the insignia of the True Word of the Shabad. ||5|| I don't think anyone can really question whether Guroo Jee received a tilak when the Gurgaddi was passed on from one Guroo Sahib to another as the pangtee above clears that up and shows that Guru Raam Das Jee received a tilak when they received gurgaddi. On the flip side of the coin - just because we haven't heard of it doesn't mean we can't question its authenticity either and must just accept it because it 'may' be a puratan maryada? SikhReality jeeo, please could you provide a link to the katha from where you heard this or even the name of the mahapursh themselves? I'm going to play the devil's advoacte here as this may infact be a puratan maryada and it may also be possible that Guroo Gobind Singh Jee did place a tilak on Guroo Granth Sahib Jee when Guroo Jee have Gurgaddi to Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee. Even if it it true, surely we can't compare ourselves to either Baba Buddha Jee or Guroo Gobind Singh Jee as the gurgaddi has already been passed onto Guroo Granth Sahib Jee? Also, i don't see the need for everyone to place the tilak as it was only Baba Budda Jee alone that put a tilak on Guroo Ram Dass Jee and not everyone in the sangat. On a satkaar level, surely if thousands of people put a tilak on Guroo Granth Sahib Jee, over time that would cause more beadbee and actual damage to Guroo Jee's saroop in the long term? Personally, I find it very uncomfortable watching all those people placing a tilak on Guroo Jee, not because the tilak is seen as a Hindu practice today but because of the beadbee that it can and ultimately will cause!
