As you know, our Ustad was Bhai Charanjit Singh Ji, who left his body on May 7th 2004. There has not been any any 'actual' practices since (by this i mean with an actual Ustad with set times). However, with Akal Purkh's Grace, the Akhara has got a new Ustad : BHAI KARAM SINGH JI who is also from Damdami Taksal. The father used to travel alot, and passed away during a trip. The child still thinks the father is gone on a trip...so how do explain to the child in the best way, if they do not even know what death is?

Somebody i know has recently lost a loved one, and have left behind a 2 year old child. Now the question is: how should the parent explain to the child that their father is not going to 'come back'? A 2 year old child does not understand the meaning of death, they are just starting to talk. In this particular case, the child has been told that 'Daddy has gone on the plane'...and the child is always asking about when he will return. These days the amount of beadbi going on towards Guru Ji is mind-blowing...seriously...whats the world coming to? I see it everyday, everytime i go to the Gurudwara i see it...and the sad thing is...MOST PEOPLE JUST DON'T CARE. I go to the Gurudwara, i see Granthis putting Maharaj Ji on the heads of monays who probably drink and eat meat...no Panj Singhs/Singhnis present to take Guru Ji to a house for Akhand Paat Sahib, and the Parkash is being done in the same room where probably the night before there was a drunken party (i've seen it with my eyes) I go to the Gurudwara...everytime i go i see Beadbi of Langar...little kids serving Langar without any guidance, putting their mouthes straight on the water jugs and then serving (i saw it 2 days ago, and when i told someone, their answer was - "they're just innocent kids...there joot is not joot")...i love seeing kids do Langar Seva, but when EVERYTIME they touch the karchi to the plate when pouring more Daal...and nobody cares and they just think its cute...something must be done...but we can complain all we want..the Gurudwara Sevadaars aren't gonna do a thing...its up to us...because i'm gonna be straight up...alot of Gurudwaras will do whatever it takes to bring in the money...beadbi or not. So what is the world coming to?...i don't know, but we can't just stand around and allow it to happen...i think we should set up some sort of "Beadbi Police" in each city/town...and go around to Gurudwaras and see if rules are being followed...and if they are not, approach the members of the commitee, and tell them to do something,and if they don't want to...advertise about it all over town...or...we can just sit here and complain on message boards like i just finished doing, and just leave it at that...our choice Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! ORIGINAL POST BY: GSINGH (Gursikhijeevan.com) waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh preface: there were several of us singhs (jasdev singh, mandeep singh, parminder singh, gurjeet singh, gursimran singh and damanpreet singh) at veer gurjeet singhs house. it was late out, about 1100. we were ready to hit home for the night. four of us were already in the car....parminder singh, gurjeet singh, gursimran singh and damanpreet singh. and mandeep singh and jasdev singh were talking to a couple other singhs outside of the car. we saw a couple cars coming so we started driving down the street to the coldesac cuz we were parked in the middle of the road. the beadbi: the cars ended up being police cars. by the time we made it to the coldesac to turn around, 3 police cars with their sirens on blocked our car. then came the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh car. we were all shocked. we were just sitting there cuz we hadnt done anything. we're all guru sahib dey singh, we wouldnt ever dream of doing something unlawful or even to deserve treatment like this. but 10-12 cops popped out of the cars and had their guns out at us. told us to get out with our hands up.. we got out peacefully with our hands up and the cops still put their guns against our heads shoving us against the car. each of us had two cops on us. one with a gun. the other searching us. they took off our kirpans. all of us had two. we wouldnt surrender the seconds over. we tried to explain peacefully but they wouldnt listen. (they arent even allowed taking our kirpans from us. its against the law for them to). they were trying to force them off so we just lost it. we wouldnt let them. they would grab our kirpan and we would push them off. with guru sahibs kirpa they didnt grab their guns and shoot us or anything during the scuffle. we all had blows to our bodies and stuff fom their sticks. after all this our spirits were still very high. we were all just thinking...god is so great. any other time our dastars would have fallen off and our baystee would have been done, but we were still standing tall. the neighbors (sikhs) that had come out had smiles on their faces like they were proud. but unfortunately, the cops eventually forced us in handcuffs after pinning us up againt the car and then took our kirpans out of the gatra. they then took the kirpans and just threw them on our car with no respect. jasdev singh also had his 3 foot kirpan in the car. they took the sri sahib out of the sheath and just started playing with it. mocking the singhs. they threw both of those on the car with no respect. many people had come out of their houses and were just astonished at the treatment the police were giving the singhs. many onlookers were also sikhs and they started giving their share of words. they were cussing the cops and had to be forced back to their houses. at this point there were 11 police cars. meanwhile: jasdev singh and mandeep singh were told not to move. about 5-6 cops went to them and pulled out their guns. 'put your hands up!!!' this was without reason. the singhs were just sitting there. eventually they put their guns down. it was obvious they used this as a scare tactic as they didnt even search the two singhs. at this point the whole neighborhood was out watching. us four singhs in the police car were left watching. we couldnt say anything, we could only liste n. jasdev singh and mandeep singh appeared to have it under control. punking the cops left and right. the cops were trying to tell them we were in the park and we assaulted someone with our kirpans. after about 5 min of arguing, the cops said something about us being terrorists. jasdev singh and mandeep singh went buck. jasdev singh had his finger in the supervisors face. the supervisor was threatening to charge him with assault if he didnt move away from him. jasdev singh wouldnt listen. he wasnt going to take this beadbi of sikhi. then about 4-5 neighbors rushed out and grabbed mandeep singh and jasdev singh. they had to be restrained. those two were also put into cars. but they were allowed to keep their kirpans on for whatever reason (we figure these cops had nothing better to do and were just no good racists.....all but one was white.) conclusion: in the end they let us go. they told us the station told them that we werent the right guys. the guys who assaulted the person in the park werent wearing turbans. they didnt apologize and literally started picking up our kirpans off the car and throwing it at us like we were playing catch. we think these cops found out ahead of time that we werent the guys. the station isnt that slow. the cops just wanted to have their fun. and this to happen in toronto of all places. we were all ashamed. this is the kind of stuff we see in the states. afterwards: the spectators (sikhs) came out and gave us all a hand. we were bruised up and they offered drinks and whatever they coud. you could see the love that all the sikhs had towards each other. if theres anything good we can get out of this whole situation, its that we are all gursikhs before we're akj or taksali or whatever else. the love that we were shown by other gursikhs is how it should always be. i cant describe in words how that felt. the singhs that were there may start forgetting bits and pieces of what happened with the police, but i know for fact we will never forget that feeling we had when we we re standing together as one. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

I saw him at the Gurudwara the day before he left for Toronto, and he was saying he'll probably just end up watching because he is still not fully recovered from the accident. VAHEGURUJIKAKHALSAVAHEGURUJIKIFATEH Sorry all...i have been out of town for a while. Now i will post my response to non-Amritdharis wearing Kirpans. These are just my views, and i may be totally wrong. First off, my response to not wearing Kirpans was directed towards the monays who wore Kirpans at the Nagar Keertan (in Leeds?)...If someone is actually serious about taking Amrit in the NEAR-future...then i don't know if that is okay or not (meaning: it may be, or may not be) but...i have personally seen people wearing Kirpans for many monthes (1 person in particular for about 1 year)...and i thought they were Amritdhari all along, but found out that they still haven't taken Amrit yet. This is wrong. It is mis-representation of Khalsa. Now, anyone can walk around wearing a Kirpan and say, "I'm getting ready to take Amrit"...and if they end doing something stupid (like getting mad and stabbing someone)...then they will ruin it for all Amritdharis, by laws being placed limiting Kirpan sizes etc. If a person can keep putting off taking Amrit, why can't they put off wearing a Kirpan? And to thoses people who want to 'try it out'...i don't understand...are you saying that if you don't like wearing a Kirpan, then you won't take Amrit? Just take Amrit and wear a Kirpan. PERIOD. if it is uncomfortable (which it isn't)...then tough...Rehat is Rehat. Once you make your pledge, you can't take it back... ps- respect to Mehtab Singh...i am talking in particular about people who wear Kirpans without serious intent to take Amrit...and from reading your posts, i know you are serious about Sikhi, and i have alot of res pect for you. I have always argued against that..they have no right to wear a Kirpan without giving their head first...if i ever saw a mona wearing one...i would tell him to take it off right away..or else... we can't have this sort of beadbey going on..they can easily ruin it for all of us...i think singhs/Singhnis should take a stand against this. THIS IS 1ST HAND ACCOUNTS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT SRI DARBAR SAHIB DURING INDIAN GOVERNMENTS ATTACK...A MUST READ!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL POST BY KANDOLA i have got the disk, and i have decided to translate what was said by Giani Ji and his survival tactics when he was there in 1984 waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh today, giani sant singh maskeen has invited me to tell you the story of 1984. 5th june at 7.30 i went to sri akal takhat sahib. there i saw bhinderanwale (had his darshan). at that time bullets were flying about. after meeting sant ji, i went to sri darbar sahib and carried the duty of rehras sahib which was supposed to be done by giani mohan singh. when i came out from the akal takhat, bullets were flying like mad. there were singhs sitting at the front of sri akal takhat and i sat there with them. i said to them "pyare gurmukho, please make sure giani mohan singh does rehras" and so they also made sure rehras would be coming from the akal takhat. normally at sri darbar sahib, rehras starts 5 mins earlier than rehras at akal takhat sahib. i wanted to make sure baba mohan singh was ok, seeing that bullets were flying around. i ran to sri darbar sahib like i never ran in my whole life. a bullet missed me and hit darshan deori instead. i waited by darshan deori, and took a breath for 2 minutes, then i ran towards darbar sahib. and a bullet hit sri darbar sahib. i manged to organise rehras sahib d a paath. Giani mohan singh was in darbar sahib at the time. there were 22 singhs in sri darbar sahib. as soon as the bhog for rehras started, then the bullets began to fire at sri darbar sahib. obviously we couldnt take maharaj from swarari. though we did do sukhasan and took maharaj to the top floor of sri darbar sahib (normally maharaj is taken to akal takhat). as soon as we did this (10pm) tanks came straight in. the whole city was in flames, we could see it from the top of sri darbar sahib. and we lit some lights in the sarover. we were thinking of taking the amrit out of the sarover to quell the flames (basically put the fire out with amrit). 4 tanks came in. and they were setting fire to all the rooms surrrounding sri darbar sahib. we could hear wives crying, children looking for their mothers. the war was over, the army began to walk past darshan deori. there were (i think i saw) 40-50 singhs getting ready to fight the army. they were so brave that they carried on until they turned shaheed. even when the ammunition finished they carried on. (jaikara heard) they were fighting from 10pm till 4.30am (which how long we stayed upstairs). we got maharaj out then you see. we took maharaj downstairs, did hukamnama and the raagis were singing asa di //. the raagis werent with us all night, seeing as soon as they did the duty they went. all the raagis al got shaheed outside darshan deori except bhai amrik singh. and on the inside bhai randhir singhs jatha was doing asa di war. bhai avtar singh (member of his jatha) was shot inside darbar sahib by the army. the army was now firing from all four doors. and as a result maharaj was hit with a bullet. the bullet is still in maharaj (i think giani ji is saying its still around). so we got the bir that maharaj ranjit singh donated (i think thats on the top floor, they did prakash). the whole night went off like so. the day went on like this. 4.00pm was when they were throwing gas grenades at akal takhat. they thought singhs were still in akal takhat, despite the bombings. even after the bombings the singhs were still fireing, as a result gas grenades were now being used. jaikara heard. they destroyed the whole place, at 4.30pm the officer said if they saw any survivors, they were ordered to kill them on the spot, be it a child, buddhi/buddha. whoever it was was shot. so the 22 singhs with us decided to get out of sri darbar sahib. giani mohan singh gave the message to the singhs and said that if the army wanted the singhs (meaning the 2 gianis) inside darbar sahib, then they would have to send there men in (this was told to the army). jaikara heard three times this message was given. but the army said through speakers that we should get out of sri darbar sahib with our hands up. me and giani mohan singh both thought if we were to get out of sri darbar sahib with our hands up, we would probably be shot. thats why we both felt that we would rather be shaheed inside darbar sahib. so we didnt get out. so we stayed from 4.30 till 7.30, at 7.30 did 2 soldiers come to get us. one sewadar was also sent in. we went towards the army. the officer said to his troops (via speakers) that no must shoot at the gianis. we got out of darshan deori and saw akal takhat, it was more or less a pile of bricks. some ssoldiers said to us "sat sri akal" . the soldiers said "we are sikh, is there anything we can do for you?" we replied "get us out of here, we need to go to the toilet, we want some water, why not send two singhs to get the water?" the officer said no, he said we couldnt go out of sri darbar sahib. so we said at least let us go to the toilet. on that he agreed. on returning they demanded to know where the sant jarnail singh bhinderanwale was. we had no idea what they were on about. now "bhinderanwale zindabad" can be heard. we said we were both inside darbar sahib, so we have no idea where he was. you should no, you either killed them or released them i said. they said we saw machine guns at the top of darbar s ahib. so i said no singh came into sri darbar sahib (fighting singh) nor did one bullet fly from sri darbar sahib. they didnt believe us. so anyway, i said to the officer, that if there was a machine gun on top, some sandbags would be surrounding it as well. so the officer said nothing came from darbar sahib. jaikara heard there were many singhs who were saheed lying all around us, so an officer got some white sheets from darbar sahib and put it over the shaheed singhs. they let us out on 7th june 7.30pm. the ARMY SAID BHINDERANWALE, BHAI AMRIK SINGH AND GENERAL SHAHBEG SINGHS BODY HAVE BEEN CONFIMIRMED! i asked where they found bhinderanwales body. they replied between the 2 nishaan sahibs (the officer was a sikh). and the other two singhs with bhinderanwale were found behind nishaan sahib. however they soon replied they saw his body elsewhere, but they never showed us his body. they didnt show it to anyone else. so we went to our homes at 7.30 (giani puran singh and giani mohan singh). thats when they got Giani Sahib Singh involved. they said the same thing about his body found to giani ji. now if they really did have sant jis body, they would have shown it us definatly. they would be showing us his body to us. they showed the weapons sant ji had, they showed us other singhs that were killed. but never showed sant ji. many thousands of pilgrams were killed. but we saw just as many soldiers lying dead. it wasnt a few, it was in 100's. jaikra heard but they could have taken his body to delhi. but even they said they never got the body. singhs crying for joy. on the 7th, when we came back, giani sahib singh sahib (head granthi at the time) was with the army. the ramgharia bunga had a trenche dug up (4 singhs created a trenche), under there. 3 troops went in, they were pulled by the singhs to the trenche. the soldiers told them to get out. the singhs wanted a negotiator before anything would happen. so they called me to negotiate with them. otherwise they wouldnt get out. i said if i were to negotiate, then dont shoot the singhs. they agreed. but the officer said we wont kill them here. i knew they would shoot them elsewhere. and if they were to be shot at, i would be prisoner by the singhs. so the officer told me to find out if the 3 troops sent in were alive. especially the doctor there. then we'll forgive them. i began to speak to them via speakers. the singhs said that they willing to do what i told them to do. i asked if the military troops were alive. the singhs said no military person was alive in their trenche. the officer requested me to leave and the singhs would be flushed out. they fought all day, all night. just couldnt flush them out. even when giani zail singh came to sri darbar sahib, they were still fighting. singhs listening are really happy and crying for joy. giani puran singh calling for attention gaini zail singh was shot at by the singhs (because the singhs were fireing everywhere), but no, if they stopped fireing, the singhs would have turned shaheed. but they didnt know of anyone visiting sri darbar sahib (they were in the trenches). a colnel had with him a gun, it was turning dark (his commander gave him the blessing to do the following, giani ji saw this himself). the colnel fitted some battery to the gun. and he began to shoot them. so the singhs were supposedly killed, but we didnt know if the colnel was alive or not. but nothing happened to the singhs, as they carried on fireing. the army began to throw grenades. but an officer told me that they were not doing much, considering the singhs were still fireing. so the army began to fire bombs with chillys in, obviously this would react with the eyes. one singh got out the trench (as he was in agony), and he was shot. and then the other singhs went out to search for water (i think, the cd is now going crackly). they were shot as soon as they got out of the trench. now, this is the first time i have talked about my experiences with the sangat. >Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki fateh. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! My personal view: Damdami Taksal was set up by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Himself. So at one point or another, the 'right' Maryada was being followed. I believe that the Maryada which has been passed down from all the way since Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji was Jathedar, has been kept the same. Think about it...if all of a sudden one of the Jathedars changed the Sodhar Rehras Sahib, wouldn't it have been a big deal in the Jatha? Wouldn't there be some sort of records written of it in the Taksal history? I don't consider myself a 'Taksali', but i have alot of respect for Taksal, and began doing Sampooran Rehras Sahib about 8 monthes ago, because i felt that Damdami Taksal has kept the Maryada un-changed because, Singhs i have met from Taksal keep very strict Rehat, have extrememly strict discipline when it comes to Gurbani respect, and don't 'cut-corners' when it comes to Rehat.
