  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh! I am trying to write something, but i can't think of the right words! Singh Ji...you look amazing!!! (now). Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I was with a friend of mine in Amritsar, on the way to Darbar Sahib, and said to him: "There's probably alot of rush at Darbar Sahib right now" ...and he responded: "No, there's no rush at all...just Sangat!" Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!i thought that was the most beautiful reply.
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I don't think it was a video, it was audio with those funky visuals (the ones that flow with the music). If anyone knows about it, please let me know. Thank You. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sant Ji spoke the Truth. The government couldn't handle the Truth. They wanted to make Sikhs go against him, so they began spreading lies about him, to make it look like he had a bad character. Unfortunaltely, many punjabis are so weak minded that hey believe whatever they hear. He was no agent, He was a Sant...he spoke the Truth, and the Governenment's plan to destroy his character seemed to work on many weak punjabis. If he was an agent, what were his motives? Did he get alot of money in return, and spend his time surrounded by material things?. No...he lived a simple Gursikhi Jeevan, and his mission was to spread the message of Gurbani. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I heard a speech of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhinderwale, with music from 'changes' by 2pac. Now, i can't find it. Can someone please give me a link. (and if you know of any other links similar to this (or remixed Dhadi/kavishree jatha), could you please post them? Thank You. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Whats there to think about? Come out, and tell your friends and family about it too...it's gonna be crazy!!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Thats Sharda! Really good Seva done by the Panth. It's nice to see that there are SIkhs out there who have so much love for their Guru, that they are willing to do WHATEVER it takes to give utmost respect. I read this article today in the National Post, and it really made me happy...except one thing. (sorry, this has to be brought up) I was totally happy reading the article (and i am still am), but at one point this happiness turned to saddness, when i read the following paragraph.... <<< "That's why we booked the whole plane," said Harbant Singh Jagirdar, an organizer with Sacha Sauda, a religious group in Brampton, which has a large Sikh population. Sikhism broke away from Hinduism in the 16th century to embrace a monotheism borrowed partly from Islam.>>> Sikhism never 'borrowed' anything, or broke away from anything. It was simply the Truth revealed. Period. For example, suppose there was an antique painting, and a famous author commented that it was 'very beautiful'. Now suppose, a couple of hundered years later, i was born, and i saw that painting, and said it was 'very beautiful'. Does this mean that i borrowed this idea from the author who called it beautiful first? No. The Truth is the Truth, and Sikhi is the Truth, not borrowed, not 'broken off' of another religion, just revealed to the world through God Himself. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! What they don't tell you about is the way these poor farmers are treated. My friend works for a Human rights company (part of Canadian Government)...and he would tell me that the owners of these farms would treat these farmers like slaves. They wouldn't pay them for monthes on end, and would pay way less than minimum wage. The Government has laws about the minimum amount of money an employer must pay. These horrible 'tyrants' would pay them the minimum amount on their cheques, and then force them to give them back some of the money after they cashed the cheques. And if someone wants to complain...goodbye!...go starve. These poor people (most of then elders), would spend 12 hours a day, doing back breaking labour, and get like $4/hour, when they are supposed to get over $9. My friend also told me that if certain conditions are not met by the employer, they would get fined a large amount of money by the Government if they were to do a random check. These criminals (who belong in jails), would have meetings with many other 'paapi' owners, and all put money into a pool to pay off any fines that anyone recieved. So, basically, they would all pitch in $5000 each, and if anyone gets fined, the money to pay for it would come from the joint money pool. These poor farmers have no choice but to take the abuse, and they are too scared to tell anyone, because they will get fired, and then have no money. Its very sad what goes on here. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Jassika...there are Singh Sabha Gurdwaras all over the world. This camp is taking place at the Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Malton. I am also coming on behalf of Gurmat Studies. I have never been to Ontario before, and am very eager to get Darshan of the Sangat there. Please make sure everyone comes out, and let your friends and family know about the camp as well. It's going to be a fun week, and we are all very excited to be in the Sangat of Ontario Sikhs. More information will be posted regularly. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  10. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! From what i have heard, the letter for the first sound of the Gurmantar does not exist in english. Its a 'wva-wva'...it's a combination of the two. It's a mixture of a "w" sound followed by a "v" sound. Its not just a "wa" sound, or just a "va" sound. Try saying it very slowly to yourself, and you will hear a very faint "w" sound before the "v" sound. I apologize if i am wrong, this is strictly from what i have been told in the past. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Or should i say.... "Wvaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Wvaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  11. Forgive me, but isn't that what you did say? How can you eat at a non-Amritdhari's house and not have them touch your food? If they made it, they touched it. If they pass it to you, they touched it. And what is the difference between "jootai" non-Amritdhari hands and just non-Amritdhari hands? Quite frankly, if it just means "dirty", you shouldn't eat from anyone's dirty hands, regardless of if they took amrit. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Respected khalsa4ever...you are not understanding the point here. The initial post was about someone passing you a roti while they were eating. There is a difference between jootay hands and non-jootay hands. I did not say not to eat food from non-Amritdharis, i said not to eat from non-Amritdharis who have jootay hands (are eating while serving). Big difference. Again Rehat is Rehat, and we are not to eat from the joot of non-Amritdharis...period. curious_man said "sikhs r sikhs whether amritdhari or not..........." I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but i'm not afraid to say it because it is what my Guru Ji says: "A person who does not keep Rehat, cannot call himself a Sikh" (Rehat bina na Sikh kahavay)...so basically, if a person is not ready to accept Guru Ji's Hukam, why are they calling themselves Sikhs? You don't become a Sikh by calling yourself one, you become a Sikh by giving your head to Guru Ji. If a person with a haircut, who drinks, smokes, eats flesh etc., and says he is a Sikh, i would like to ask this person this: How are you a Sikh? Guru Ji says - don't cut your hair, don't eat meat, don't drink...but you do these things. Guru Ji says- take Amrit, keep your hair, keep Rehat...but you don't do these things. My question again, "How are you a Sikh?" ps- before attacking these views, please do some research (rehatnamas etc). Guru Ji makes us Sikhs by giving us Amrit. If my father is a doctor, does that automatically make me a doctor? We don't automatically become Sikhs just because we are born in 'Sikh Homes', you must go to the Guru and exchange your head for Sikhi. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  12. Does Guru ji Not Dwell everywhere :e: NOT that I'm saying thta it should be allowed..i was REALLY surpised reading your post Bhull chukk maaf Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! What i meant by, "Does Guru Ji not dwell in the Langar?" , was: Do these people think that Guru Ji is not Ang Sung? Guru Ji is everywhere, and we should not do anything He does not approve of. It doesn't matter if you are in the Gurudwara, at home, with friends etc. Guru Ji is everywhere. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Who said anything about eating food at non-Amritdharis homes? We were talking about eating from jootay hands of non-Amritdharis. There was no mention of eating food from non-Amritdhari hands, just jootay non-Amritdhari hands....and that is against Rehat. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  14. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Khalsa4ever: I am only basing my opinions from the Rehat Maryada and what the Punj Piaray told me, and that is: we are not to eat from the same 'pandah' as non-Amritdharis, or eat their joot. This is a Rehat issue, and i don't question it or compromise. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  15. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sikhnet.com question and answer forum has ALOT of views which go against Gurmat. I have e-mailed them before to express concern, but they didn't reply. Once they said it was okay to have Bhangra practice/shows in the Langar hall because it is not infront of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji! Does that mean that Guru Ji does not dwell in the Langar?! And a couple of monthes ago, someone said they enjoy reading while have breakfast, and asked if it was okay to read Gurbani and study the translations (Gurmukhi and english together on the same page) while eating, and they said it was okay. Its really sad because alot of young 'future-Sikhs' are reading this 'advice' and getting the wrong answers. Sometimes you must be blunt and straight forward, instead of becoming so moderate that almost anything is okay to do. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Yes, this is joot. It does not mean that you must re-take Amrit. You must just be more careful in the future, and sometimes you just have to explain to people that you don't mean any offense, but it is your religious obligation to avoid joot. Not everyone will not understand this, but you must try to explain to them that you are baptised, and this a part of Rehat. Joot takes many forms. We are not supposed to eat out of the same 'pandah' as non-Amritdharis, and that also means when we are eating a bag of chips etc., and someone comes up and asks for some, you take some out and hand them to him/her, instead of letting them put their hands in the bag. We can't just keep putting our Rehat aside because we don't want to offend someone. Rehat is Rehat, it comes first...even if you have to starve. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  17. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I just thought of something about Nihang cholas. Now, i could be wrong, but maybe a reason they are buttoned up from the front instead of pulled over is so you can put on, or take off a chola even if you are wearing a Big Dumalla, which Nihang Singhs tend to do. It makes sense, but i could be wrong. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  18. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! You guys are all right. We should speak Punjabi with each other. Me and a couple of friends tried to speak Punjabi to each other, but we just keep forgetting, and slowly started to speak english again. It's tough because we are so used to it, but we must try hard, because one day we will all have kids, and they are going to learn from us...if a husband and wife don't speak Punjabi to each other, how will their kids ever learn? Even if it seems awkward at first, if we get used to, i think we will be able to do it. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  19. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Here in Canada, we mix Punjabi and English sometimes when we talk. Like if I'm talking to a Singh friend, we mostly speak English, but we'll throw in a Punjabi sentence once in a while, or just a couple of words. What i was curious about was this: In countries like France, Germany, Sweden etc...do the young Sikhs who are born there do the same thing with the language they mostly speak? Like do they speak perfect French, and once in a while they throw in some Punjabi words? I think it would be cool if i visit there, and would have to speak Punjabi to them in order to communicate, even though we both mainly speak different languages. Just curious about what it's like. 20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The first ques. has been answered by SIngh Khalistan Da...as for the differences in the Metha ones and Bhinder Kala...well i went to Metha and they put two Kirpans infront of me, one was 800 rupees, and the other 1100 rupees. I looked closely...the Bhinder kala one (rs. 1100) had alot better workmanship. The handle of the blade had contoured edges and a better grip, and there was kadiey on both sides..it just overall had a more 'sleek' look to. Metha ones are good too, but Bhinder Kala are the best ones. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! If you want to get a Taksali Kirpan, don't get the ones made in Metha! If your gonna get one go for the best...get the ones made in Bhinder Kala (they cost more than than the Metha ones). If you look at the workmanship, you will notice a BIG difference. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  22. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The reason the 'Nihang Style' Chola is open from the front is because it is designed for horse-back riding. A closed front restricts freedom of movement. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  23. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Two of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Sikhs had the same problem, and asked Guru Nanak Dev Ji about what they should do. The Sikhs said, "Guru Ji, you tell us to Naam Jup, but when we do it, our mind just runs around and we can't focus on Naam. We keep thinking of other things, and sometimes the sins we have done in the past pop into our heads and we think sinful thoughts" Guru Ji said, "Then what do you do?" The Sikhs answered, "We think that there's really no point in sitting there if our mind just runs and thinks bad thoughts, so we get up and start doing our work, duties etc." Guru Ji said, "Well then you have not accomplished anything. Let me ask you a question: What kind of work do you do?" The Sikhs said "We own land and we work on this land (farming)" Guru Ji then asked "Do you have horses?'......and they replied "Yes" Guru Ji's next question was, "What do you do when a horse gets sick?" The Sikhs said "We give it some Masala" (they still give masala to sick animals even to this day in India) Guru Ji asked - "So you just put the masala infront of the horse and he eats it?" The Sikhs said "Now way!- the horse will never eat it that easily! What we do is put the Masala in our hand, make a fist, and put the fist inside the horse's mouth" Guru Ji asked , "Does the horse then eat it right away?", and the Sikhs replied, "Never!...the horse struggles, not wanting to eat the masala, and it keeps struggling with us" Guru Ji asked "What do you do then?"...and they replied, "We keep our fist inside the horse's mouth, and don't take it out. Eventually the horse gets tired of struggling and just eats the masala" Guru Ji asked "So, who's the one who got tired and gave up, you or the horse?", and they replied."The horse" (because the Gursikh did not give up by taking his hand out of the horse's mouth) Guru Ji said......"This mind is sick, just like the horse. When we try to give it the medicine of Naam, it struggles and runs around. But what you have to do is keep reciting Naam, no matter where the mind runs, just don't give up. One day, just like the horse eventually gets tired of struggling and gives in to the medicine, your mind will also get tired of running around and take the medicine of Naam inside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From my point of view, the moral of the story is: "The mind is sick, it doesn't know that Naam is actually going to cure it, so it struggles and avoids taking it in. But never give up, and keep reciting Naam, and one day, just like the horse finally gave up, your mind will get tired of running and also give up, allowing the Naam to reside and cure the mind.
  24. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! There is no Sikh that drinks, but there are alot of Punjabis that do. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  25. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Another thing is Kirtan Sohila Sahib Da Paat. You are supposed to do it before you go to sleep, but if you don't go to sleep, then when do you do that Paat, after the 5 Banis or before? I think its best try try to stick to the routine given by Guru Ji (refer to 'khalsa's' post) and rise at Amritvela. But i think if it is out of your control (work, school etc.) then it should be ok because Guru Ji is understanding...but if you are not going to sleep because you are on msn or watching TV etc...then i don't think it's OK.
