Brother this is where it gets so unfortunate for us. I could not care less if non-Sikhs see Nihangs doing bhang or jhatka or whatever. If you wish to take on the Nihangs, if it feels right to you, then do it. But I dont see why you would.

It never fails to amaze me how obsessed Sikhs are with their 'image' rather than reality. This is probably one of the Nihang practices which goes back pre-1849 and just because some of us have become squeamish and sterilized in other parts of the world, it wont stop them doing this. You could go there and try to stop them, but I recommend you think carefully before offending them - they are not acting when they say they know how to use swords!

Okay, I just watched it again and you must not have watched the same programme. Amarjit Kaur is an Indian national. The presenter refers to overstayers exploiting other overstayers in this case. No mention of her owning the shop, only going shopping in the area. If anything, I would be more interested in her links back home. That's where the dirt lies. Also note, the Punjab Police Officer who now takes money to move Punjabis around Europe. No wonder so many Sikh immigrants end up dead or in labour camps across Eurasia, it's the authorities in East Punjab stitching them up.

lol if only it was that simple. There is legislation and laws against this. But that doesnt mean anyone in power cares. Britain has a history of secret societies who love sexual exploitation and using sex to reinforce the class system. Sexual exploitation also took place in their colonies, including Punjab whether we like to admit it or not. Muslims coming here and doing this is excused because if it was stopped it would draw light onto the depravities that take place in white society. Many well to do middle class men in England travel abroad to abuse children in places like Thailand/Vietnam/India etc. Many of them have positions of responsibility in the very institutions that should stop this - but what do you think they do for the rest of the year when they arent on holiday? If a Sikh leader even broached this subject, most people would pay lip service, drag up Islamophobia or play it off as 'Sikhs being stupid'. Lets not get it twisted. It's unclear if the Madam is part of the established or recent immigrant community. What is clear is that young Asian women are being sent to her or going to her as they cannot afford to live in the UK or cannot find work. If she was forcing women to do it or sponsoring them she would have blackmailed them and they wouldnt have seen a penny. This Madam offers a half split of the money earned. Not exactly exploitation. Ironically all her customers are Faujis too.

One thing I have seen Indians do is use English words in odd ways which dont reflect their original meaning. Like 'Hitler' used to describe a type of guy etc. So by using 'nuclear' they might not mean real nuclear war but rather an all out war with a lot of destruction? Let's face it, hiding in your basement wont save them from nuclear blasts or fallout.

As for bigotry, I made very clear and reasonable points on the Non Punjabi Sikh thread. The fact that others would rather slur and throw insults when faced with opposing points that dont fit their world view is not my fault. There is nothing wrong with vegetarianism, but veganism when not well researched is as bad as some other diets. Many vegans have to go to their doctors in the learning curve that is changing diets. Dont expect to switch and not come across any issues, some people need to have frank discussions with their doctor before embarking on changes in diet depending on their age and medical history. Not from people on a forum. As for 'current legal legislation' bare in mind that if the teachers ever report your kids to the social, one of the first things they will look at is diet. There may be no link, but do you really want to leave it to the whims, interpretations and personality of the Judge and local authority's lawyer? I didnt know this issue has made the press, so I'll look into it. But if you are a parent, what may be good for you doesnt translate to your children in every situation.

This story is made up, surely? I cant believe you were so gullible. Not all beggars are poor. In the UK there is a thing known as 'professional begging'. Near me a young white bloke would beg outside the train station with various sob stories. Then in the early morning he would drive off in his BMW. He was reported to the police and sent to court. But this happens all the time in the UK and the more you give in, the more they will want. Let them go to the Gurudwara, stop being such a soft touch.
