  1. Maybe. Also maybe, the kar seva babas get money when they have to raise crores of Rupees from the sangat to buy marble. But if they just leave old Gurdwaras as-is, they don't get any money.
  2. First of all, get in touch with sangat. Talk with older, devout SIkh women your mother's age. Tell them your predicament, and ask them to talk to your parents. Also ask them to find you a match at your same level of Sikhi.
  3. Seriously? Do the kar seva people have any sense whatsoever? Just demolish every old nishani, and put up a gleaming marble Gudwara on top of the ruins. Depressing.
  4. Some people do pronounce the small matras. It's not a debate that I want to get into right now, but people have different opinions on that. Taksal, for the most part, does pronounce these matras. It does (usually) mean singular. Just look at the places that there is an aunkad and where there isn't. That doesn't mean you're not supposed to pronounce it or not. That's a separate matter.
  5. Yeah, exactly what I was going to say. The shaheedi of the younger Sahibzaadas is special because they were just small children.
  6. This is shocking. And also completely unacceptable. It's a violation of trust. I'm so glad that this poor brother was able to get away and get help.
  7. I'm sorry, but this is a bad idea. If you want to show students what certain Sikh articles of faith look like, just show pictures of them. An alternative might be to ask a Sikh organization to send a speaker with items to show, if they want to.
  8. Definitely. At the most, get your bachelor's degree. And get married. If, for whatever reason, you want to get a postgrad degree, get it after being married. Plenty of people do. Not being able to find a partner is no excuse. Start a few years before graduation.
  9. Definitely. Some of our brothers would probably say "Look, look, Bhai Gurdas ji mentioned the Vedas. Therefore, the Sikhs are supposed to accept the Vedas!" Actually, Bhai Gurdas ji mentioned the six Hindu systems of philosophy to differentiate Gurmat from them. They are nuanced differences, to be sure, because Bhai Gurdas ji was a sophisticated thinker, but they are differences, nonetheless.
  10. Why are we such softies? "For his generosity, the players asked him to join them for the meal." So, I guess the Sikh taxi driver joined the Pakistanis for a meal of halal. Great.
  11. Someone who is reading your post who hasn't read Bachittar Natak would think that maybe Guru Sahib mentioned Mohammend in a nice way. He is mentioned as a failure. I don't know what exactly you mean by "disrespect", but Guru ji clearly says that they don't follow anything from it. Do you do Chapaui? "Ram raheem puran quran, anek kahein mat ek na manyo." "Ram, Raheem, the Purans, the Quran; they say alot, but I don't accept anything from them." So? Arabic and Persian existed before Islam. Guru Sahib is allowed to use any langauge they want. Muslims don't own these languages. Did you also happen to read the lines where Gurbani refutes various aspects of the the Vedas and the Koran? To say that those books might have some true statements is different from saying that they are fully true and that we need to follow them.
  12. Agree. But late 20s? A lot of these people are still not married by their 30s!
  13. Then why not punish him via the law courts ? Depriving someone of their liberty (i.e., putting him in prison) takes an extraordinary level of proof. On the other hand, merely depriving someone of the chance to acquire new victims (preventing him from having access to Gurdwara sangat) takes a much lesser level of proof. The latter has been done. The former can be as well, later.
  14. If you view the NKJ video that shows up in the links at the end of this video, you'll see women are sitting smiling and very pleased at the NKJ fellow. This includes women wearing dastars and ramals! What's the point of making an outward show of religiosity if you have no shardha for Maharaj? 1. He says "It hurts to think what our IQ level must be to accept the things in the Suraj Prakash. Ask a kid how it rains, he'll tell you about the water cycle." So he's against the entire Suraj Prakash? Might has well just write off all of Sikh history. Why does he even bother talking about "Guru Granth Sahib ji"? The only place where it's mentioned that Guru Gobind Singh ji gave Guruship to Guru Granth Sahib is Suraj Prakash! (Or other history granths.) 2. He says the Gurbani line that says "It rains when Parmeshar makes it rain", "parmesher" means nature. You should know that they don't actually believe that God exists, only Nature. So why even bother with Gurdwaras? Just attend rationalists society meetings. 3. He says "Kids are telling parents not to send money to Punjab to do paath, we'll do it ourselves." OK, that's fine. But the method of this group is to say a few good things, and then telling people that Guru Sahib were not manifestations of God.
  15. What did I just watch? This guy is unhinged. He says (in the Gurdwara) of Guru Nanak ji "kidnap kar ditte honge". Huh? "Honge"? Might have been? You might as well say "NKJ govt da agent honge". This is all just totally baseless speculation. You don't have a right to just make up total lies and present them as what "really happened". He says "do you get mithai from shops or trees?" (disrespecting the miracles of Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj). For people who don't understand why he was banned, it wasn't for one statement. It was for a whole method that these people continue to use: Just make up totally lies. When caught in one lie, move on to the next one. They are shameless. They are free to live their lives, just not as preachers in Gurdwaras.
  16. When's the last time Badal has spoken to a UK gurdwara? Exactly.
  17. This isn't exactly rash, this is at the tail end of a whole lot of stuff that these people have been doing. I agree that it would be good to have had a discussion, but do you know for sure there wasn't one? Who's laughing at Sikhs? Because they decided they want to enforce a certain standard for speaking in Gurdwaras? People respect strength. Everybody thinks he's a hero until the moment he finds that his entire kaum (nation) doesn't want anything to do with him. This is an entirely non-violent action. It's not like we killed him, like the penalty would be in Islam. Every group has the right to determine who is able to speak or not speak in their facilities. If he decides he wants to stick to his fairy tales, he can do so. It's all up to him. Also, it's entirely wrong to be saying such things (that Guru Nanak ji was kidnapped and murdered) without ANY backing whatsoever as if he's sharing "the real truth".
  18. If that's the case (that older=wiser), why are his followers upset that older and wiser Sikh brothers are shutting down this 24 year old (the NKJ baba)? Wow.
  19. Good point. I also wonder about some of these unfortunate events. It's like, how did these weirdos get unsupervised access alone with these minors? Also don't allow minors to have unsupervised time on the phone (don't give them personal phones that no one is allowed to look at). This is regardless of you're of the samprada, Nihang, Nirmala, AKJ, missionary, or other bent.
  20. Females love overtly gay men, my guess is that they feel drawn to the feminine energy. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head, bro. Not that I'm calling for gays to be strung up like the Muslims do. But I do recognize that any kaum needs masculine energy to survive, which the West is definitely lacking in the 21st century. So let's stay strong, in the way that Dasmesh Patshah wanted us to.
  21. There are already 1.3 BILLION people in India. You could fit another 10 million, and that's not even a 1% increase. I doubt there are 10 million Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, etc. in neighboring countries who want to flood into India.
  22. "associated with a veggie jathebandi"? You mean Guru Hargobind ji was a member of ... Nanaksar? Seriously, though, are you stating that someone forged a hukumnama?
  23. Well, some people may be doubting the Nihang Singhs. But that's not the same thing as sants telling people not to eat meat. The sants are not criticizing Nihang maryada. They are speaking to people living in cities who have no need to eat meat, and even if they did eat it, they'd be buying halal. They are certainly not going to be crying "Sat Sri Akal!" doing jhatka with a 3 ft kirpan! You do agree that Sikhs should not eat store-bought meat, right bro?
  24. This link says Indian nationals, but it doesn't say Sikhs, Punjabis or Afghans. Also Afghan would not be Indian nationals.
