  1. I agree with this. It's about the only thing I agree with this guy. White people think that they function like scientists in lab coats examining insects and such. Meanwhile, non-white people are supposed to act as representatives of their various species (like robins, woodpeckers, pitbulls, etc.) Nonwhites are not to act like disinterested scientists. With that said ... is this guy nuts? Why in the world would he want to put himself forth as professor of Islam? When he goes on TV and such (or even if he doesn't), he'll be cementing the view in Americans' heads that those people with beards and turbans are Muslims. Thanks a lot, "Simran Jeet Khan". Secondly, what does he think he's going to do? If he's going to whitewash Islam, there are plenty of people doing that already. Or, if he's going to tell the truth about Islam, he'll be targeted for violence, since he's easy to pick out. So what's the point? We all know he's going to portray Islam as a new-age dharma full of love and kindness, and all of those terrorists like ISIS head al-Baghdadi who have a doctorate in Islamic studies just don't understand "the real Islam". See this article for what the real Islam is: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/ The author writes that the “reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic. Very Islamic.” You'll never hear Professor "Simran Jeet Khan" say that.
  2. Hi and welcome. Why don't you make an account? It's free and it facilitates conversation. Where did you first start out finding about Sikhism? Library? A neighborhood Sikh or student? What appeals to you about Sikhism? There is the ceremony of "amrit chhakna". But I think that you should be firmer in your desire to become a Sikh and have greater knowledge of what you're getting into before you take that step. At the moment, I think you should just keep learning about Sikhism.
  3. Bro, he's a total newbie asking a basic question, and you point him to 1430 pages of reading?
  4. I think that's an unfortunate way of thinking, but each to their own I guess. Look, if there's someone out there who was unfortunately sexually assaulted, that's a different matter. Simply by saying he doesn't want the mother of his children to be a h0e, he's already stated he means girls who deliberately set about to have as much extra-marital s#x as possible. What's "unfortunate" about not marrying such a girl?
  5. What if they got into Sikhi, later on in life ? Well, what if they did? You're basically answering your own question in that you even mentioned "getting in to Sikhi". Which means you acknowledge that before they "got into Sikhi" they had little respect for themselves. Otherwise, why would you even say that?
  6. Exactly. You don't do anything before marriage that you wouldn't want your wife/husband to do after marriage.
  7. Good answer. I mean, would you "mess around" with your sister? I have no doubt some of these "liberal Sikhs" would.
  8. It's like this: If you were married, and your wife had oral s@x with some dude, would you object in the slightest? If so, you've got your answer.
  9. OK, that's stupid and they should get a clue. But here, I don't know what you're talking about. People are naturally going to pick up the accent of the area in which they live, whether it's Lahore, Jalandhar, Gurgaon, or Toronto. The problem is not that Canadian Sikhs talk in Canadian English, but if they say anti-Sikh stuff.
  10. I think he's like that mentally disturbed person (Sikh) that ended up being shot by the police in California. This fool is going to something like the same end.
  11. If you were to dare to show up a Gurdwara, you deserve to have your face bashed in, you fool. On what basis does @jkvlondon, a poster that I sometimes agree with and sometimes disagree with, deserve to be called a b@tc#h ? You're a ਵਿਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀੜੀ, as Gurbani says.
  12. Who's the greater fool? @mahandulai or me who continues to engage with him? He doesn't know how to argue a point. First he wants the other poster to "LEAD BY EXAMPLE". I responded by asking exactly how he's supposed to do that, and that the other poster is already not aping black culture by wearing droopy pants. Mahandulai then comes and asks what's wrong with droopy pants! Second, I accuses me of bashing girls in general. I explained that I was not, and to check the person (singular) of my statement. I further stated that I was only bashing the specific Youtuber, not girls in general. He then responds, "don't bash the youtubers!" What?? That makes as much sense as saying "Don't bash the discussion board posters!"
  13. Don't bash who? I was not bashing "them" meaning girls. I was bashing a specific person "her", meaning the Youtuber. When did I bash girls?
  14. Yeah, what's that mean, man? How exactly do you affirm a negative? If you don't ape black culture, you don't ape black culture. When he's away from his keyboard, he's not aping black culture. What exactly is it that you want him to do? He's already not rapping, wearing his baseball cap backwards, wearing droopy pants. What else?
  15. If boys had periods, they would by definition be girls. Dumb. Did she then proceed to say "If girls didn't have periods, and also girls had p#n ises, and girls didn't have bre@sts, and boys had all of the above"? Yeah, you're basically redefining the word "boy" to mean "girl".
  16. Great point, bro! We need more people from our community to do stuff like this.
  17. You should post a bunch of her opinions (like 10 or something) and tell which you agree with and which you don't.
  18. It was a she, bro. You, know, "lass" means girl. Lassie--little girl.
  19. What's that supposed to mean? It's a good bet if he feels the way he posted, he doesn't ape black culture. What more does he need to do?
  20. 1% means flourishing? 1% means the death of Sikhism in one generation. Huh? Are you talking about art and philosophy or rap music and backwards baseball caps? Oh yeah, the latter is such a blessing.
  21. Facepalm. @Big_Tera is not finding personal faults in people. He is lamenting a general trend of following the black ghetto culture. It's amazing you would have a problem with that. Also, are you not finding fault in Big_Tera? You say that Big_Tera should just stay quiet. But, by your own standards, you should not say anything about Big_Tera and find fault with him. So why are you talking? And if it's OK for you to talk, why isn't it OK for Big_Tera?
  22. Umm, no we don't want our wife to be baptised for the sake of society. Where did you get that notion? Society doesn't care if your wife is Amritdhari or not. In fact, they'd prefer that you have a hot, non-Amritdhari wife. The reason for marrying an Amritdhari wife (or husband) is that it is maryada. Anyway, your suggestion that the backup position is that your wife not do the 4 kurehits is good. Agreed Marriages with Short Wives and Tall Husbands Are the Happiest, Says Study https://www.rebelcircus.com/blog/marriages-short-wives-tall-husbands-happiest-says-study/
  23. Well, to be fair to them, there are a lot of parents who are fearful that they will not be able to find amritdhari grooms, so they don't let their daughters take amrit, but they don't eat meat either. I do believe there are honest families and potential brides who are willing to take Amrit. The problem is in distinguishing between those and and fakers. While being willing to take Amrit is OK, I do agree that putting on a kirpan when you're not really Amritdhari is fakery.
  24. Did you specify in the ad "amritdhari girl required"? If not, why did you waste those people's time? You're going to have to compromise somewhere. Who cares about education? In the 1950s men (executives and doctors) used to marry non-college educated secretaries and such. What exactly are you going to have your wife do that she needs a PhD? Earn good money, and your wife won't have to. Height? Again, who cares? There are plenty of short girls who are good looking and have a good personality. Just ask yourself what you want in life. Also, try marriage bureaus in India. There are some Sikh oriented ones.
  25. The fact is, you are very right. Now, just watch, you'll have people responding to this thread saying: 1) let the "weak ones" go, the rest of the Panth will be stronger. 2) it's all in Waheguru's hukum 3) just worry about yourself 4) you don't have to worry because God will take care of everything 5) it's not as bad as you're saying, the Sikh panth is strong, there is so much parchar happening, and nagar kirtans, too. 6) who made you Jathedar? and 7) who cares? To which my response would be: 1) Seriously? Yeah, good luck having your religion recognized as a force when you have 1000 adherents 2) Yeah, so why do you even bother making breakfast in the morning or going to school or work. Just let Waheguru drop some food in your lap. 3) Sikhism is the path of parupkar (caring for others). Letting people know about spiritual advancement is a form of caring for others. 4) See #2 5) Just a form of closing your eyes and ears and wishing for everything to be alright when it is clearly not. When termites start eating your house, do you wait until the entire house is eaten? 6) Nobody made @AjeetSinghPunjabi or anyone else Jathedar. We're just talking about the future of the Panth because we care for it. 7) What can I say? If you don't care what happens to the Panth, why are you even here? You really want a Panth which defines its very existence as caring for others to wither away?
