  1. do you even realise just how unique we are on the face of the planet that our enemies praised our refrain from attacking women and children . every army in history until guru ji used rape as a reward and diversion for troops ..in fact these it is used as a weapon widely. Yes Guru Pita ji set the bar ultra high for a reason
  2. it is what the standing orders were during Guru ji's time also , no sikh was permitted to put daag on khalsa's paag/Guru Pita ji's paag If only people thought that way they would shut down the filth mongers , and give jawaab to astray people
  3. so how many are stuck in maya aspects of christmas? parties, food and presents
  4. I spent all last night thinking on it and I am willing to shake myself up too ... this world deserves and need Gurbani Chanan...my kids need to know what is expected of them too. the time for our awakening was not just then it is ALWAYS now, preparing the ground for tomorrow : 'Singho there will be those among you who will quote, "Farid, kiss the fists of your foe and return homeward." They will say, "what is the use of violence?" But remember, "when all tolerances, when all limits are breached then it is commendable to raise the sword." There is nothing wrong with turning the other cheek. Turn it once, turn it twice I say turn it thrice. But remember the longer you keep turning your cheek, the more tyranny it will provoke. You will have no face left, and your foe will lose nothing. There is a limit for everything. This Panth prefers peace but if that peace is threatened then we have been ordained to protect it in the enemy's tongue. For a Sikh to retain Shastars and persecute innocents is a sin, but an even greater sin for a Sikh is to retain Shastars and not utilize them for the protection of Dharam.' -Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale.
  5. Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji Ki fateh, Thankfully , The toronto gurdwarey committees are actually doing something right , they and other Canadian gurdwarey have put they heads together and banned entrance of ANY Indian Government officials to any gurdwara http://panthicspectrum.com/2018/01/01/indian-officials-suffer-major-setback-toronto-gurdwara/
  6. the one which takes us away from the revolutionary/rebel mindset of Guru Sahibaan to sheep mentality of colonised peoples the recouching of our martial spirituality roots into nationalism for freedom of sub-continent via army signups . The fearless parchariks who took sikhi to muslim heartlands have been replaced by fake 'missionary college' graduates who spread doubt against every aspect of sikh doctrine . The list is long but the point is the Sikhs can never be fit into a convenient box because of the very natutre of sikhi and who it appeals to.... just need to shake people up from their amnesia and ignorance
  7. Waheguru ji saare sangatan nu sumat , sabar, santokh te gursikhi jeevan te rehit baakshani , Panth nu avde ditte hoe gian di manak moti di khadar karan te samajan di bal bakshni ... Sabh sikh jagat parivaar nu navi saal di vadiyaan
  8. point was there are some 'punjabi' traditions which are rooted in shameful history such as Dheeaan where Hindus would basically set up their female juniors and relatives for selection and abduction by mughal forces do jagoo -singing songs slating members of the family and making a jaloos of the family Maieean - doing upitan on fair skinned, daily washing sikh brides to remove imaginary dirt (muslim custom as they were desert dwellers), washing bangles in milk and putting them on for a month All pointless and done for traditions sake , in ignorance ... so using tradition as an excuse is really lame -sati was one , kudimaar was another ... I thought Guru Sahiban dragged our minds out of those ruts ?
  9. rakhdri, lodi , diwali dive jagoune, jaggo, dhieeaan ...the list is long of 'traditions ' which stem from wrong thoughted cultures other than ours -sikhi
  10. the only reason there is seperation of church and state in the US is because the church would be outspoken against the STate and that didn't suit the fed reserve and elites so they are now muzzled by threatening their tax exempt status.
  11. no it is not illegal or at least it wasn't then and teachers and headteachers were not constrained in how to teach as the current spoonfed neo liberal slush given to our kids. in the seventies , people actually still talked about the faith of the land ...nothing unusual really ...Indians are forever talking about their majority religions and forcing their chosen languages on others. it was a state school , and we all sang the songs when told to close eyes and bow heads I did the same but did naam japp ...same with my siblings
  12. all this is relating to the subject of the pushing away of our faith to replace it with others celebrations , we have the tech to fix it but until we get skates under the committe vale who are dragging sikhi off road and ensure our kids have knowledge and opportunity to do sewa , sing kirtan (love to be up there much better than britain's got talent), lead congregation in Ardas , Parshad vartouna etc etc . a Granthi is just a sikh who has decided to do hazoori sewa , technically anyone can do the job, Sants are not of any official roles despite what Indians want us to believe , Sant Samaj is full of people who acted really dodgy during the protests against Guru ji's beadbhi...Giani/sant are ACTUALLY defined in Gurbani and these people mostly don't approach that level. Sikhi is flat hierarchy under Guru Granth Sahib ji /Akal Purakh anyone claiming otherwise is lying
  13. yep I have had that experience and I've said not true else you would not have your goth attached to your name ...you are progeny of hindus who lie to save face.
  14. there is a quote from the mughal chroniclers pointing out exactly that , whether birth, marriage, joyous occasion, illness, or death are all the same to Gursikh - shukrana di ardas, hukamnama and karah...
  15. Yes we should be saying do more sakhi sharing , more post Guru Gobind SIngh ji itihaas of the Khalsa - because a lot of people do not know the circumstances of Guru Pita ji's Akhri hukham and the manner in which he passed after telling his Gursikh to NOT cry . It is this exact lack of history knowledge that nakli gurus take advantadge of . People do not know the sakhi of the prem Guru Pita ji had for his Khalsa above blood relations People do not know the night before at Chamkaur Sahib how Guru ji tended to his children whilst they slept...how much love he showed People do not Know about Bibi Harsharan Kaur at age sixteen going onto Battlefield and doing antim sanskar of vadde sahibzahidey and Singh who were shaheed and also fighting and giving shaheedi herself after this sewa. people don't recognise the little people who sacrificed everything just to do sewa of chotte sahibzahide and Mata Gujri ji People think of Mata Gujri as a frail typical punjabi Granny , but history shows how strong she was mentally, spiritually and physically to look after sangat for years as they came to see her Mother in Law in Pind , whilst Guru Teg Bahadur ji was doing his bhagti . Dealt with the death of her husband and remained aware and available for sangat and her Son . we need to highlight the unflinching strength and true nature of Chardi Kala based on the knowledge of why we should be free from attachments to outcomes as instructed in Gurbani. POH should be an Inspirational month to give a boost to chardikala to truly feel how much our GurPita ji and older brothers love us all. An anchor to our roots ....
  16. no one is the same or worse than the catholics ...we have no priesthoods, celibate worship, idol worship, personal aggrandisment in the eyes of sangat or rampant child abuse ...so please not draw such comparisons . we have mela , nagar kirtans, gatka displays, hola mohalla, dussehra , smagams galore, loads of celebrations maybe you have chosen to forget those the rehit gives structure and rhythm to our lives via habit , the gratitude attitude becomes a habit as does the naam in our hearts, listening to great kirtan opens our minds and souls to the beauty in the cosmos , develops our brains frequencies and processing powers ...kids are IGNORANT until informed so saying what you said makes no real point ... I knew about christianity because our primary school used to read parables to us each assembley and we used to sing hymns, do the nativity at christmas , but the fact that my parents also told me about Guru Nanak Dev ji and all Guru Sahiban via sakian which was similar but yet more appealing because they were instantly more relatable, caring and loving than these preachy sermons . Kids respond to what they know of Akal Purakh in their hearts and the bible/Torah/quran/vedas/geeta/shastras can never come closer. Guru Sahiban even gave us the formula of how to get the kids into Sikhi but we still won't do it - just tell them the history and sakhian of their spiritual ancestors
  17. how about getting the basic information and facts of history and Gurbani out so they all know which way is up before they decide how religious they are....
  18. because you are following the crowd for no other reason than to fit into the flock , frankly I am a human gifted with a brain by Akal Purakh it would ingratitude to switch it off and do something I would regret later in Dargah ... no human can help or answer for me ... especially when I do not believe in all those faiths. Next you'll be saying you'd keep roza during ramadan because you are in a muslim dominant country under that train of logic...it's a slippery slope off the edge of sikhi
  19. je maa pio khu'ch shaal maarke dubb gehe , bacche nu nahin bachon da farz sadda nahin reha? that's what the goray in whitehall want us assimilated just like the other sheep in the TV drivel and sports drivel and eating drinking spending drivel forgetting Waheguru
  20. 3. I did think it was E but got thrown by the last clue because I didn't read the two words as one 'everyplace' ...oh well
  21. what about dhan dhan gursikhs like Todar mall, Bibi Harsharan Kaur we need to appreciate them and share their stories especially Bibi ji's story to our own impressionable girls who would go musley or christian at the drop of a hat .
  22. choice is also Waheguru's whether they should live or die , humans can't do anything more than be instruments of hukham. my own preference is to support the plant to strengthen it thus the homeopathic remedies , then the insects will not be able to subdue the plant... but again the remedy can only save those whose destiny it is to be saved
