  1. Dunno about the joora. Dasam Duar is the tenth gate, situated (AFAIK) between and above the eyes. When you are ready to merge with Vaheguru, the tenth gate opens and it is through this gate you merge with Him. Have read about how when you meditate, the soul starts to move up towards the tenth gate. Others have said that the Kundalini moves up through the chakras and arrives at the tenth gate and this is when it opens. Joora sits on top of head, not over Dasam Duar.
  2. Likely will need surgery. See your GP. It might be necessary to send you to hospital for an operation. Depends on the severity of the phimosis.
  3. It's what I plan to do before taking Amrit. I want to be able to wear the Kakkar and recite Bani so that I am fluent in them before taking Amrit. The life of a Gurmukh is so very difficult and I figure it'd be easier if you do some things first to get used to them.
  4. Wear the gatra around your neck and then say you're wearing a 'token' symbol. Agree - also ask if the other sikhs are baptised and whether you can contact them. Call their bluff if you think they might be lying to you just to get around the issue.
  5. I wear an African/Kenyan style dastaar too. Just the way I was taught by my dad's mamma ji.
  6. enough for 6 larhs. If it's bigger, I cut it to size. If it's smaller, I re-tie it more tightly.
  7. I use super to let me watch southpark eps on my phone.
  8. One of my mates is amritdhari and he still eats his (non-amritdhari) mum's cooking.
  9. I never knew much about Guru Har Rai Ji, but this should help.
  10. The only reason I will not disrespect this Baba Harnek Singh is because he was appointed Baba by his predecessor Baba Mihan Singh Ji, for whom I have great respect and love.
  11. What's nam dhir? EDIT: NM read the other thread
  12. I believe there are some people who truly have the ability to read your hands. Just as in the same way there are those who can see skulls and know the actions of that person. 1. Not everyone can truly read hands, only claim to do so. And then they make a false living from it. 2. We should put our trust in God himself, and not in some palm-reader. It does not matter what our hands say. God Himself can change your future and your destiny if it so pleases him. 3. Great. Someone tells you that you are going to die at, say, age 40? What are you going to do? One of my mum's friends was told by some palm-reader that she was going to die young at the age of 40. What happened? She became depressed because of it and was continuously worried such that it affected her life and her family. Surely it'd be better to leave things in the Hands of God and not worry about it. BTW she's still alive and around 50!
  13. Wow I didn't know that. Sometimes happens when I think/concentrate on God a lot too.
  14. Better be careful. NCERT were the ones allowing books slandering the 9th Guru Maharaj. The books need to be vetted beforehand.
  15. I used to think dreams were good. But as I read (translated) Gurbani, I realised that dreams are bad/are an infliction, and that having dreamless sleep is best. Two dreams I've had: 1. Where I was somewhat lucid in a dream and I asked God to show me a ghost. I've never woken up so fightened in my life after what I dreamt! 2. Again I was lucid (aware that I'm dreaming) and started doing JapJi Sahib paat. If I become lucid whilst dreaming, I think I'll do some more paat, or maybe do an ardas?
  16. Wow! Thank you Pritam Singh...that looks SO beautiful!
  17. I was always told that the Guru of Guru Nanak Maharaj Ji was Parmesar Himself. Vaheguru Vaheguru Vaheguru
  18. My mother once told me that Guru Nanak used to space-travel. He'd get Bhai Mardana to hold his hand and close his eyes, and when Mardana was told to open them, he would see that they were in a new place.
  19. If I could time-travel, I'd go and mutha-tek to all 11 Gurus. To prevent something? I'd go back to when Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj made the Panj Pyare to see what happened, write down the maryada in some way as it could not get lost, get a copy of the Adi Granth and Dasam Granth (before they got lost) and Sarbloh Granth, and hide them (respectfully), so we could have the full copies and stop with all this bashing about maryada, 1699 etc
  20. When Guru Ji is taken to bed/Sach Khand, what is the shabad that is recited? Can anyone provide a written version and a translated version? Why is this shabad recited? Obviously, the chauri is still waved over the Guru but why the dhol and the bells (the chumta-thing with bells attached - suddenly can't remember what it's called!)? I've never been to the Gurdwara when Guru Ji is taken out of Sach Khand. Is a similar ceremony performed then too? What is recited then? Thanks in advance.
  21. Because people don't respect Guru Ji in the way they should. It's become almost ritualistic to take Guru Ji to every place out of convenience for the people involved. If people truly respected Guru Ji, they would never do anything to insult or offend Him. But they don't see Guru, they see a book. This inability to see the True Guru is the cause of the problems. Otherwise, they wouldn't put Guru Ji in a suitcase or in the trunk of a car, and they wouldn't take him to places where alcohol/meat/tobacco is consumed. In fact, if they were able to see the True Guru, they would not even think of going to these places or consume such things. When we were fortunate to have the Guru Maharak in our house, we cleaned the house thoroughly. I was really scared of the Guru and didn't want to wave the chauri sahib over the Guru out of fear. I was even more scared when I had to carry the Guru out of the house and into the car. I was scared. Why? Because in case I messed up and tripped/fell or did something stupid. This is the kind of fear and love you should carry in your hearts and will stop you from evil thoughts and deeds.
  22. A tiger. Not even a lion, but a tiger!
  23. But surely if we are all equal in the eyes of God and Guru, then there is no difference other than who is Gurmukh and who is Manmukh? Surely by deeming others as impure, you make yourself impure by thought alone?
  24. Here's the link to the webpage It is a Namdhari website - they don't believe that Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj gave Guruship to Guru Granth Sahib Ji but to a human.
