  3. I think Hazooria is made out of cotton / terricot ? And it if you hold it from the top of your head, it should be the length of your full body. A hazooria is different from a siropa. Hazooria is what sevadaars wear to do seva, for cleanliness and humility. Siropa is an honour that is given from the sangat to a sevadaar out of the sangat and Guru's blessings. Siropa, i think, is always made out of dastaar fabric.
  4. Sister Ishna, The sikh traditions have always advised complete abstinence from alcohol, drugs, and intoxicating substances. That also includes intoxicating habits that hurt our body and put bad thoughts in our mind. For all initiated Sikhs the consumption of alcohol, drugs, and meat is not allowed and instead in Gurbani the message is given "Oh Dear One (human being), make your mind high on the nectar of the true naam. With intuitive ease, you can be drenched in its (naam's) beautiful colours." Naam refers to the Name of God, or the essential truth and reality of the Creator and Creation. I know, we all know, and the Guru knows, that your intention is not to get intoxicated - but that is the purpose with which alcohol was created. It was not created for any other purpose but to provide that "temporary fake high." Furthermore, on the path of devotion to God it is very easy to be distracted by materialistic things, and in order to keep your body clean, your mind clean, it is important to start with your diet, because your diet can influence your atmosphere, mood, and health, which in turn can influence your actions, thoughts, and attitude. All the best in your Sikhi path. I am inspired by your dedication to embracing the Sikh lifestyle Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fatheh!
  5. thank you for the great post veerjee randip singh veerjee, the sikh rehit maryada says that a gursikh should marry a gursikh.
  6. Thank you Khalsa veerjee and Jagjit Singh veerjee for informative and inspiring posts _gupt singh_ veerjee, Yes, Hajooria / Hazooria is necessary for doing seva of degh as Singh132 Veerjee has said above.

  8. respected bhainjee balwinder kaur jee the point of posting manmat.com was to make myself and some silly brothers and sisters in the sikhsangat share some laughter it's a logo that says "Manmat: Quality in Action" haha... hahaha... Manmat has no quality and no action, it is Manmat I just thought it was funny that there is a real company called "Manmat" and one of their products is a cleaning liquid Can you imagine some Gurmukh pyare - you give them a container and it says "Manmat Cleaning Solution" maybe you have to be really silly to laugh at this ... hehehe.
  9. i think something is starting to go wrong with me... i'm posting more in the forums and my posts are becoming more useless..
  10. That's a little strange But anyway Jesus Christ did have a beard and so did all of the real "original" Christians.
  11. Sister Ishna, if you don't feel confident right now to wear a dastaar, that is totally understandable. But you can make yourself aware of the history and beauty of the dastaar in all human societies (kings, queens, rajputs, ancient egyptians, modern african women) and try to feel comfrotable with the concept. Then try to keep a bandana rather than a chuni. Chuni is more part of Indian tradition and it is not really practical for covering your head as it falls off (as you noticed with the girl in the performance). If you are able to go to any INdian store in your neighbourhood (depending on where you live) you could ask them for turban fabric, and cut the proper size of a bandana from there so that you will get comfortable with the feel of the turban fabric. Then you can also cut a longer dastaar and at home you can slowly slowly transition yourself as you feel comfortable. You can tie a dastaar before going to bed (comfortably) and just around the house so that you feel comfortable with it and identity yourself with it. Do not feel pressured and at a steady pace you can comfortably progress in your spiritual path. please forgive me for any mistakes above, vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh!
  12. vaaheguroo jee kaa khaalsaa vaaheguroo jee kee fatheh !!!! okay jee here is some information Nordel Way becomes 88th Avenue - just remember that. And the streets and avenues in Surrey are mostly numbered. Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar is at 85 Avenue, on 128th Street. To get to Dasmesh Darbar, you just take a right from 88th Avenue (Nordel) onto 128th, and a left on 85 Avenue. Gurdwara Sahib Amrit Parkash is at 80 Avenue, on 123A Street To get to Amrit Parkash, you just take a right from 88th Avenue (Nordel) onto 120th, and a left on 80th. and Khalsa School is at about 70th Avenue, on 124th Street. To get to Khalsa School, you just take a right from 88th Avenue (Nordel) onto 120th, and a left on 72nd, and a right on 124th. Vaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa Vaaheguroojeekeefatheh !!!
  13. gurmukh pyare veer jasdeep singh jee, it is not arrogance to say that dastaar is a requirement for all gursikhs. bhai daya singh jee has said in the rehitnama above, the all those wishing to take amrit should wear dastaar. women and men both take amrit. therefore women and men both should sajja dastaar. vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh !!!!!
  14. that's great ADMIN jee i think then you should change the topic title to "2006 Akhand Jaaps around the World" then people will be more likely to post here and to click here
  15. VAAAAHEGUROOOOO!!!!! that's how people look at the akhand jaap hehehehe
  16. vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh !!!!! in the rehatnama above by pyare bhai daya singh jee, bhai sahib jee says that anybody who wants to take amrit, at the amrit sanchaar they should first be wearing a kachhera, put their kes in a joora and wear a dastaar, and wearing a sri sahib with gatra should stand with hands folded. they should tie their joora in the middle of their head and tie a large pug (dastaar). in addition (i think it is implied that the following is rehit for when they become amritdhari) they should keep their kes covered, do kanga twice a day, and tie their pug (dastaar) chuN kay. all of the above particularly applies to BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, then bhai sahib jee says, women should tie joora and not keep their hair open. even though this is TO WOMEN, it also applies to men, because also men should tie joora and not keep their hair open - as per the directions above. however it is a necessary double instruction because it was (and still is) prevalent for women to keep their hair down (open) instead of tying a dastaar. the entire rehitnaamaa is from pyare bhai daya singh jee to all khalsas, and therefore if you have shardaa and prem for bhai sahib jee's bachans you can trust that dastaar is equally important and necessary for both singhs and kaurs. bhai sahib jee has not stated the word keski, but pug and dastaar. for me these are three words with similar meanings, the bottom line is that all gursikhs should wear dastaar according to this rehatnama. please forgive my mistakes vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh !!!!!
  17. also i think in both of the above pictures the singh with the sri sahib (first picture he is wearing all white, second picture he is wearing grey coat) is sant gyani (saint scholar) niranjan singh ji
  18. vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh!!! "Guru Da Sikh" veerjee it is very disheartening that people would doubt the efficacy of Naam... Sarab Rog Ka Aukhad Naam Mission has only one main mission: to help all human beings heal any suffering through Gurbani and Naam. And the illnesses, suffering, diseases, or "Rog" are not just physical, but psychological and mental, including anger, lust, greed, attachment, and pride. All of these can be cured by naam. When people doubt this, they are doubting Guru Sahib ji's own hukam. Sarab Rog Ka Aukhad Naam is not just an organization, it is a shabad from Sukhmani Sahib - a hukam of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. if we doubt it then we will miss out on a largely important aspect of spiritual life. not that i have a spiritual life or any life at all... hahaha... but for those that do aspire and attempt to have one, they cannot ignore naam... speaking of naam... i can't wait til the akhand jaap !!!!! should be awesome!!!!! please forgive my mistakes vaaheguroo jee kaa khaalsaa vaaheguroo jee kee fatheh!!
  19. okay Manleen Kaur I am not answering that one but I know what it is umm... yes...
  20. For website compatibility, you need to test according to how many people have the browsers. so by current popularity ratings, first is IE, second Firefox, third Netscape, fourth Opera, fifth Safari (Maybe?) but as far as browsers go, nothing compares to Firefox and it will become First some day.
  21. "jas" + "any letter" + "inder" = praise of God "bal" + "any letter" + "inder" = strength of God "raj" + "bir" = Warrior King, Warrior of the King (God) carmen is an english name. karman = actions, deeds "man" + "leen" = mind is absorbed (in God)
  22. vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh!!!! veerjee with guru ji's kirpa if you have some website design or graphic design seva needed to be done for goodwill of humanity or parchar of sikhi please PM me. stay in chardee kalaa jee vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa vaaheguroojeekeefatheh !!!!!!!
