  1. no, I am actually asking what should vegeterians feed a baaj/hawk without going against their own ethics?
  2. before we take the side of SGPC, read these: ‘They [the S.G.P.C.] are enemies of the true Khalsa form [Budha Dal Akali Nihangs]. Because only after making pledges did they get the Act Bill passed. They [S.G.P.C.] said: “We accept the Gurdwara Act.” [The British replied], “We [British] will pass the Act Bill but the Priests [Udasi Mahants] have made pledges.” ‘’What pledges?” [asked the S.G.P.C.]. [The British replied], “That they would not raise a voice for Khalsa Raj.” They [the S.G.P.C.] said: “This pledge we will also make.” After making this pledge they got the Act Bill passed. Under the jurisdiction of it [the Act] all are S.G.P.C. Gurdwaras. They [the S.G.P.C.] are enslaved by it.’ Akali Nihang Baba Santa Singh, transcript of interview on Vaisakhi 1999 ‘Committee [the S.G.P.C.] was made. Its leader was chosen making the Act. He was controlled [by the British]. The Shiromani Committee that was made, the Nihang Singhs of Budha Dal from the beginning did not accept and termed it ‘Sirmuni’ (one with shaved head referring to one who has no shame) Committee. Why? Because it was under the control of the ‘Angrez’ (the British) and it was formed with the signature of the ‘Angrez’. And out of all its donation money, six ‘Anna’ went to the Angrez and they [S.G.P.C.] accepted every Angrez term. That is why in ‘Guru Panth’ you cannot have these committees. In Guru Panth, the Budha Dal is supreme.’ Nihang Baba Ram Singh, transcript of interview on 17-4-1998
  3. and he also became the leader of the Udasi sikhs after Baba Sri Chand passed.
  4. oh they are allowed to kill humans in battle, but they cannot touch a dead animal or at least the flesh, because LOGIC... (it may also break their amrit according to them or THEIR specific panj pyaray? emphasis on THEIR)
  5. but would that fit in with their ethics? I heard some vegeterians aren't even allowed to touch a dead corpse, because it make them ashud or something else (or some other kind of superstition)?
  6. but you do know a lot of people have vitamin D deficiency these days? Many years ago I went to my GP to complain about tiredness and fatigue, but they found nothin in my blood test. Then I went again sometime before the pandemic, this time they looked out for vitamin D and found I had I was deficient. It seems healthcare has become aware of the effect of vitamin D deficiency becoming common in people. To be honest, I haven't completely got my tiredness under control after taking vitamin D for a few years.
  7. I have been taking vitamin D since before the pandemic. I have definitely lost weight, and my hip to waist ratio has decreased. I think my strength has increased as well, when I am picking up weights etc.
  8. I don't think they can without becoming "ashud". so what should they feed the baaj?
  9. it's not a "pet" though. you cannot keep one as a pet, has to be kept as a hunting animal.
  10. clearly mentions 5 patta maryada in the video you posted here just learnt a new bachan from Guru Gobind Singh, this time using the Jatt word too: "eh jatt affreya firda hai shawtti jee gal wee apni tidd wich nahi pacha sakeya!"
  11. I can't find the tracks from the 2000s, will need more research.
  12. there is a Nihang Singh who has a stall somewhere outside, I am trying to remember if it was in the Heritage Walk area or somewhere else. I bought a Sarbloh kara from him, I am sure he will be able to help you with getting a Peshkabz as well.
  13. I am sure it is Dya Singh Australia, the keertan was from the 2000s, I think I used to hear it on Desi Radio.I think one of the tracks may have been singing dasam bani. I cannot find the tracks:
  14. I recommend daily Manji Sahib katha for the daily hukamnama avialiable on various youtube channels. another one I really like is Bangla Sahib katha, he's a really good kathawachak with a decent command of English as well. Mentions stuff about goray and uk as well now and then.
  15. you can call in and ask them when they come on Panjab Radio. They should be on Panjab Radio this week due to the referendum voting happening.
  16. yeh I want to see more improvised instruments and synth pads. I also want to see electric guitars, I think they can make a somewhat similar sound to some stringed instruments. I used to hear some keertan on the radio from Australia and he used to use electric guitars and didgeridoos, I don't think it was in Raag but it was pretty good! Lastly, I would love to see an electric guitar played at rehnsbai uploaded on youtube for us to watch. Lastly, why can't we have DJs performing keertan. Since we already use an archaic instrument imported by the British called the hamronium, then DJ keertan is not beadbi at all since most sikhs have forsaken Gurus' instruments anyways! I think there's quite a few Singhs or sardars who are DJs for punjabi functions, and DJ'ing has become a regular part of the punjabi culture. So why not present keertan in a way modern punjabis and modern sikhs are used to music, instead of using the out-o-f-date and out-of-place harmonium - it's not exactly like sangat and gurdwaras are bothering to try to preserve Gurudev's instuments anyway?
  17. lol, you will be surprised to see many aren't. And then there's also the ones who have become ex muslims, I sometimes see how much these people expose islam on the ex muslims reddit forum. this is true, although you will see money talks and some have changed their spots. has anyone watched the contest? Did they have any degrading rounds where they have to expose their bodies? I hope not, not for someone who is speaking bani. At least he is called Indian, and not associated with sikhs or the Singh name. he can easily just pass off as some random indian except the name is punjabi, which of course someone intelligent enough might be able to link to sikhs. one way is to release more singles like : LAHU DI AWAAZ (Official Video) Simiran Kaur Dhadli | Nixon | Honey Virk | New Punjabi Songs 2021 - YouTube it took me a while to find this video, when I type in the singers name Simiran Kaur Dhadli, her new songs come up but that one doesn't show. had to do some searching. People have already forgot about it!
  18. also watch out for groups of people which use the term gursikh for leaders and in a Sant equivalent. Also Bhai Sahib is becoming more common, actually Dhadrianwaley used to be a Sant Baba and the changed his title to Bhai Ranjit Singh. I have no doubt there were bhai sahib leaders during Guru jis' times, but even this term is being abused probably for a century now. Who knows, there's possibly other terms for various groups leaders and holy men as well.
  19. referendum votes happening on Friday December 31st, from 5pm - 11pm in the UK.
  20. cool video and I need to spend sometime going listening through it. I think it's our own sikhs such as the sikh panthic leaders who are dismissing the contributions of sikhs and the Gurus. At the moment, it's more common to see a keertani lugging around a heavy harmonium than carrying an instrument carried by warrior Singhs during war such as the dilruba, or the Rabab which Bhai Mardana ji carried around on his journeys with Baba Nanak. At the moment, the evidence is, when I go to the gurdwara, whether in Punjab or uk, usually we will see sikhs playing keertan in harmonium, and sometimes not using any Raags either. Or they might be trying to play in "simple tunes" which is a word that seems to be a go to argument, I have heard keertan sung to Bindrakhiya tunes, and also the sikh equivalent to christian rock.
  21. at the moment, we are relying on other people becaue we are not trying enough. let's strive for change with chardi kala!
  22. of course, but not enough Singhs are trying to do this. I have seen Raj Academy, Jawaadi Taksal, Baru Sahib and Singhs interviewed on Mardana Project. Even with all those organisations and groups, it's still a small minority inside the visible sikh panth.
  23. I heard about the Mirasis that visited Harimandir Sahib, no idea about the ones who perform keertan in Pakistan. I am not willing to gloss over these facts. However I am also not willing to gloss over the facts that Singhs aren't trying much to preserve keertan maryada, whereas there are mirasis and naamdharis doing so...
