  1. is that all amrit sanchars, or only those that are secretive?
  2. I heard Shia women used to marry Singhs during puraatan times. However there was a "maryada" Singhs of those times used for 51 ikwanja days where the former shia women had to eat something that a muslmaan cannot eat. that is hilarious. why do the shia callers keep going on about Aisha though?
  3. they definitely degrade women. doesn't matter if she won, she is still going to be seen in a bad nazar for the way she would have to dress to the globe. just ignoring it to be honest, I am not making it go viral on my whatsapp. she seems to look better in the pind video than she does in the miss universe atta! I think they also score you on answering questions. So the point is, why wear degenerate kapreh when you can beat them with brains? She looks decent in the suit in the video, no need to stoop down levels for tv, women should be able to wear desi suit to such events, to represent different cultures! some jatts were with the goray since colonial times. But I go home to punjab all the time and I cannot describe any jatts I meet there as being like foray, not even with the cringey 1950s haircuts! some people have unique names we got girls drinking with their dads now as well. In the pend this still doesn't happen due to izzat, in the uk jattis have caught up to this, previously kenya sikh girls and aunties were known for this lol! Jatts in punjab try to be modern and western, however their thinking is anything but and still backwards. yet boyfriend girlfriend gham are still done in a hidden way from family over there LOL yeh but what if they where lots of atta on their face like miss universe? true. but to be honest I am now seeing the sikh youth as well as jatt youth in the uk now, I am not sure how many of them recognise this as putteh gham anymore. Many of the girls probably have nanghi type pics on insta, I am surprised at afghan sikh girls doing this now, I though they were more strict as they are all sardars and marry quite early! I mean the the only thing I can be happy about here is that at least she is dressed decently here. it doesn't matter either way. it's still kinda behzti what a woman has to do at these contests that just sucks, now more women will try to dress nangi like beauty pageants.
  4. I need to take pahul, I have wanted to since pandemic. However I will be really annoyed if the panj piyaray can't even be bothered to read Kabyo Bach Benti Chaupai upto Arril, I would walk out of amrit sanchar if that happened. A super duper serious century long issue which is ignored!!! Also only sanchar to maryada, no extra naam dhrir stuff traditions added by some sects which I have heard about but need to be an eyewitness to myself! Can I attend an amrit sanchar just to witness if these additional events really happen which I have heard of? These amrit sanchar my way or the high way?
  5. wow that is interesting to know. The parallel Amritsar Singh Sabha is demonised for being Sanatan, casteist, "old guard" and for having Baba Khem Singh Bedi. This seems to bring the Lahore Singh Sabha down a notch due its self righteous stance and of course alignments with the corrupt scholars. Irish, including the IRA, helped sikhs and Indians during the freedom struggle from the British. It makes sense they were still looking at these things in the 1980s as well. Watch the new movie called Udham on Amazon Prime, it's about Shaheed Udham Singh and shows IRA helping him as well.
  6. Kartar Singh Jhabbar was in charge of the movement to take over Akali Bunga. They purposefully sent in mobs of SGPC women as they knew the akali Nihang Singhs would not fight against women! Just a cowardly takeover really! When SGPC was created, a contract was signed to never ask for Khalsa Raj to the goray in order to incorporate SGPC. This betrayal to khalsa by SGPC was the reason the Budha Dal Nihang Singhs split from the Singh Sabha movement, as the creation of SGPC literally was a betrayal of the panth due to that clause that was signed ! Akali Baba Anup Singh Nihang from Gravesend, UK, was an eyewitness to what happened. the skipping of parts of kabiyo bach benti chaupai wasn't allowed, and probably the same for Arril as Mahapurkhs are insisten on reading this as well. but Bhasauria and SGPC brought these changes in regardless. The Taksal Rehras seems to be a good baseline. The Bhasauria version Rehras done at Harimandir Sahib, or any Rehras that only takes the minimum Chaupai Sahib from SGPC "Akal Takht" Maryada, would just be disgraceful as a minimum AND IS A deliberate dilution of maryada!
  7. Regardless, the Benti Chaupai and Arril is the same everywhere, it's only long chaupai portions of Rehras which differ with sampradaiye. It is miscreants in the panth which have shortened the benti chaupai section for their own goals!
  8. I sometimes go to the Ramgharia Gurdwara in Slough, they have a statue of Jassa Singh Ramgharia, however I haven't felt any Ramgharia misl vibes from these gurdwaras yet, and instead feel more Kenya Singhs vibes... I see actual bana wearing Singhs including Nihangs in the Slough Singh Sabha gurdwara, I don't usually see anything similar in the misl named gurdwara with the misldaar statue.... I understand that to stand in the Ramgharia gurdwara committees you have to be from Tarkhan background, but would it not make more sense for them to be from Ramghria misl background?
  9. I think there should be a free tier and also a paid tier for those that are more serious. IF it is all paid for, then many people will not bother. At the moment near me there is a Sunday punjabi school in Slough. However many parents will either not bother or will not know about this and other punjabi schools in the area. Some may not have the transport. Those lucky enough to get into the sikh schools don't need to go either. It would really be a good idea to somewhat collaborate with the sunday punjabi schools nationally, to sync with their syllabuses. Would also be nice to get the strength of the sikh schools as well.
  10. I mean Ravi Ranjan Singh is campaigning for traditions that made the khalsa strong and warrior like, practises which neo sikh committee buffoons got rid off when they took over Akali Bunga Takht
  11. He was also a British stooge. Gained the title Babu Teja Singh from his work fixing some nuts on I think it was train railways for the goray. I think the "abhilakhee" lot bibis do all wear keskis though, he was never an Akali Bunga Takht Sarabrah /jathedaar however himself or his students do use the abhilakhee word a lot as well as overuse of the gursikh term. Bhasauria and the influence of his students/cheley did manage to change Benti Chaupai to skip 'kripa kar har jagmata' from Benti Chaupai and completely exlude Arril; and this carried over to the SGPC Akal Takht rehat maryada! Remember this was a period when a sikh organisation could hide behind women to remove Khalsa leaders from Akali Bunga, such as what happened with Budha Dal chief Baba Sahib Singh Kaladhari. Haven't won yet, through his influence Benti Chaupai is still read in a cut corrupt form: 'kripa kar har jagmata' is skipped from Benti Chaupai and Arril is completely excluded, so many gutkas have been published this way because of people like him. Teja and his student who was granthi at Harimandir Sahib, they both managed to forcefully change the Benti Chaupai to this at Harimandir Sahib as well. Kept adding their own corrupt men into the sangat until whole sangat submitted to their will to commit the Benti Chaupai beadbi which carries onto this day. ...still not won, need to do more. Yeh he used to do keertan of Dasam bani and then he just switched. Kala Afghana has similar view to Teja Sing B.
  12. Teja Singh Bhasauria used to force girls in his school to wear keski.... Teja Singh Bhasauria also got excommunicated from the sikh panth....
  13. I am sure sikhni and Singhni is used by puraatan sikhs. I think I have actually heard this term used in bani Never heard Kaur used by Puraatan Singhs....
  14. yes honsla rakh song with Sonam Bajwa, and also the credits song with the main character's wife and ex wife.
  15. is it possible for you to just tell his manager the complaint, since you already know him? to take the bad influences out of family movies, to keep them more sanskari and respectable? To go just a little extra mile?
  16. I am confused, are you talking about Ravi Ranjan Singh who is mentioned in the article, or Ravi Singh Khalsa Aid?
  17. I have seen portraits of puraatan Singhns though, there's no obvious distaar. I think it used to be a mixture of Singhnis wearing distaar or chunni or some other head covering. Things have changed now where some amrit-dhari bibis leave their head naked.
  18. yes, there is maryada of there just being a shastar to matha tek, as was done for the gurdwara created by puraatan Singhs at Sirhind in memory of the 2 younger sahibzadas. There were instances when such as the one I mentioned where a gurdwara did not have a sikh to manage it, and there just weren't enough Granth sahib saroop for every smaller gurdwara, and of course they were all hand written. Obviously, this also changes how Anand Karaj would be done as opposed to modern times...
  19. Puraatan sikhs would probably be surprised to see that their is a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib in the majority of gurdwaras, as those sikhs came from a pre-printing press era. They will find the saroops strange due to not being larrivaar (ie nowadays we have spaced out words) Also they would hear a strange sound coming with keertan due to the harmonium, which would look and sound really strange to them. Probably also be shocked at how many sikhs uncover their head outside gurdwara, and how many have haircuts etc.... dil saaf hona chahida?? no need for tattoos when we have kesh bros
  20. it's also confusing. Without a photo, when someone uses Singh or Kaur without a photo, it gives the image of someone who is into sikhi prinicples and therefore forgoes the surname. In the case of Singh you usually have an image of a man wearing a turban. In these cases, I am all for them using alternative surnames. Also when someone does something wrong while using Singh/Kaur surname, it still tarnishes the image of sikh community.
  21. city sikhs are a bunch of jokers. The original people aren't even shown on the site anymore: Our People | City Sikhs Param Singh, I think he was one of the founders, he's a proper joker. Seemed like people willing to make money and fame but selling sikh principles down the drain to get these.
  22. it's similar, but the fact people like these still call each other as boyfriend-girlfriend still doesn't show the same level of respect. I have seen some people use titles such as partner or significant-other to make their partnerships seem more respectable.
  23. you should see Diljit's early songs, the girls dressed just as bad, or probably worse. On Friday I actually watched his new movie called Honsla Rakh, a good and funny movie. However, for some of the songs they make Sonam Bajwa get adi nangi half naked kapre. And to be honest there is no need, they just do it for the sake of it. They could easily just lengthen the clothes to make them more respectable, but jaloos. kadna honda!! Someone really needs Diljit to banda banja. I mean I know it's the movie directors and producers who do this, but Diljit is a big enough actor now to influence this. I thought we punjabis had enough discussions for this not to happen, yet they still do it in family punjabi movies?!! Yes, I do not think desi communities in general were prepared for waiting for partners, not even upto 20s really. The parens thought kids need education, but forget that there's a thing called puberty which happens in the teens, and which the old teen marriages helped control. After all, for a sikh it's important to control kaam krodh lob moh hunkaar, the 5 panj chor/ vikaar. And how Guru Nanak emphasises grihast jeevan. it doesn't help that the body requires a replacement to the partner that marriage would originally bring. So some desis "get-with" someone but then it doesn't work out after a year or many years and they split up. And going through these broken partnerships they end up getting old without a proper life partner. And also these just break them and make them even less suitable for marriage than when they were teens, not just because of the excess baggage but because of the fact that they're in a habit of being in these casual partnerships and will probably mess up a marriage/life partnership - hence the increase in divorces. During my uni career, I saw married muslim couples studying at uk universities. I am sure our community could make it work, with married people going to unis. I mean people have girlfriend-boyfriend in unis anyway, so proper partners can also work with education. Just need both parents to support these endeavours.
