  1. Her husband veedu vidz is really funny haha his impressions are spot on especially when he does zakir naik.
  2. I think the internet has helped sikhi a lot. In fact you can learn more about sikhi online than you can at gurdwareh etc many puratan literature is available online translated in English. You have articles online explaining the meanings. Many books on sikhi are available for download. You can even learn gurmuki online. Parchaar vids on YouTube. Videos on YouTube with detailed explanations. Internet really has helped sikhi in the West a lot.
  3. Which ones ? And how Just today at work I was speaking to this paki uncle and he was telling me that my generation (I'm in my 20s) is gonna be the last generation of Asians who follow culture and respect parents, after us he said culture is gonna end/die. He was very convinced about this.
  4. Yeah my mum told me that men were darker in those days because they used to spend most if their time outside working Yes I know what you mean I'm like that yellowish brownish colour that some punjabis are and I get really dark during summer I end up with a tan line on my forhead wear my patka is haha! It's only in the last few weeks that my skin is going back to normal Same happens when I go India.
  5. I think all religious communities are facing similar chalanges in the west. In fact it's considered more normal to be atheist than religious these days
  6. It's not always easy to tell the difference tbh. When they speak then you can obviously tell the difference. But by looking it can be hard sometimes. I hated being mistaken for a paki all the time, in fact that was the main reason why I stopped cutting my hair. It seriously really started p!ssing me off.

@chatanga1 https://dailytimes.com.pk/251361/mosque-of-moraan-tawaif-built-by-the-beloved-wife-of-maharaja-ranjeet-singh/ It's from a paki news paper. I'll try and find the link to jind kaur being dragged out,

Found this on Moran "After the death of Maharajah Ranjit Singh Moran moved from the Lahore Fort to her house in Bazaar Chowk Chakkla, and became a very religious woman. Post the death of Maharaja she spent most of her time and money trying to set up Persian and Punjabi language schools. Historic accounts state that she passed away somewhere in 1862 and was buried in the Miani Sahib Graveyard. Her grave location has been a mystery whereas many people claim that they found her grave" Published in Daily Times, June 10th2018.

Maybe some of his wives went back to their parents houses? Most of them were from wealthy families anyway. He had a few Rajput wives too. His sikh wives were from wealthy backgrounds. Well I hope some of them had it easy

So they were just left with nothing and forgotten. Really tragic, from queens of punjab to prisoners in rags. I'm guessing the same happened with all the sardars of the court. I read an account of how jind kaur was dragged on the floor out of Lahore by her hair by the british when they took over. Moran didn't do sati so I guess she was imprisoned. Just imagine how lost and lonely all these people must of felt after they lost everything.
  12. My cousin in India was telling me how this guy hasn't got private parts and that he was dumped at birth by his biological mother. I remember in his early days he used to wear very sparkly Daler Mehndi style outfits. Don't know anything else about him tbh

i wonder what happened to maharaja ranjit singhs wives once the empire fell. Some people just disappear from history. what happened with moran?
  14. Because our guru told us that we are neither Hindus, Muslims or any other religion. Our guru told us to respect other religions but not to take part in their worship and rituals
  15. Lingayats want to break away from Hinduism and be recognized as a separate religion, but don't think the government is letting them.
  16. I agree, don't know how but the governments seem to benefit from these social divisions. Even in the west you can see these divisions. Notice how the inner cities are super rich and expensive while the outer sides of cities are normally middle class people and rundown, London is a perfect example. I live in a very middle class run down town just outside greater london and the pavements are worn out and cracked and have been like this for over a decade, but you won't see pavements and roads looking like that in the rich inner parts of london. But i think this whole caste issue is very deep routed. Its part of the culture. People of higher castes genuinely think they are higher and have a superiority complex, its not just the culture but their mindset too. It will take a long time imo nothing to do with khalistan but just a observation i made while in Punjab
  17. Kurta, ghagra choli, dupatta/ghunghat all are Indian. Salwar is the only thing that is islamic. You need to realize that south asia is massive, and depending on the region and its culture, tradition and climate people had different clothing. North Indian women have been wearing ghagra choli way before the islamic invasions. Ghungat or dupatta/chunni has been worn by higher caste indian women for 1000s of years, way before the muslims even came. In fact even in valmikis ramayan sita covers her face with a ghungat/dupatta and then before leaving for the jungle ram asks sita to lift her ghungat and unveil herself before the crowd. painting from gujarat dating back to 1350 the women are clearly wearing a stitched choli blouse heres another painting from the 12th century and the lady in the middle is wearing a blouse heres a indian buddhist painting from 1075. its from bihar once again this lady is depicted wearing a choli blouse another very old early rajput painting obviously in south india the culture, traditions and climate is very different to they wore less clothes, but in north india women have been wearing ghagra choli with dupatta way before the muslims invaded.
  18. In bhai gurdas jis vaarns it says something like a sikh should dress like a sikh, what does that mean ? What does a sikh man/woman wear? Historically I think sikhs wore kurta or chola? Salwar for women is a recent thing I think
  19. I don't know. I'm neither for or against khalistan. Would sikhs stop discriminating against sikhs of lower castes and social status? If khalistan was made and all the sikligar and dalits sikhs decided to move to khalistan how would they be treated by the Punjabi sikhs?
  20. Well people in the West are familiar with abrahamic faiths. When people think of God, even if they are atheists, they think of some deity up in the sky who sends you to heaven or hell. This is a very abrahamic view. People are not that familiar with dharmic concepts. Dharmic concepts and beliefs are seen as very foreign and distant in the West. It's too "exotic" lol. When it comes to sikhi apart from South Asians not many people know much about it. I think that's the main reason. But things are changing. Whenever I go gurdwara I always see this black lady doing seva in the langar hall she's also started wearing dastar. Iv seen a white amritdhari singh a few times as well in the area I live in. Things are slowly changing
  21. Yeah I agree with what he said, people these days are only after self gain, it really is not easy to trust someone you never know what their intentions are. Man iv come across so many sad and unhappy people! It's sad how many people put on a brave/happy face it's only when they open up you realize the sadness that their covering up within. Treat everyone nicely and be sensitive because you just don't know what someone is going through. I thank waheguru for so far giving me a nice and mostly a happy life.
  22. So in your opinion a paedophile/rapist groomer is not sick in the head ? Is it normal? How do you see this individual? Would you become friends with him ?
