  1. In school we are taught about tolerance and a load of bs like that, yeh if others want to do that in their spare time they can carry on but I don't pay attention. I got better things to do tbh lol.
  2. What an insightful post, this should be pinned.
  3. It's a great deed in itself to have the Gurus Roop but sadly most women decide not to. We should encourage men and women alike don't get me wrong, but girls tend to feel more insecure about the way they look in the first place. Chup kar.
  4. Yeah that is true I suppose but imagine how hollow it sounds to choose someone's looks over virtues. Personally, looks would be a last priority. If you have a beautiful heart then it doesn't matter how "ugly" you look but people will only see your goodness.
  5. Thats so sad, girls should recieve extra encouragement and praise for wearing a dastar.
  6. Yeah same, Tbh I feel ashamed that I don't know much about my mother.
  7. The main essence of Sikhi is Naam. Without Naam this life is rendered useless. This is because we spend all day doing work etc, but how many times have we sat down and tried to Jap Naam? Without contemplating upon Bani and doing Naam simran we can only move a limited amount in terms of Sikhi. Doing Seva is also equally important. Seva should be without the desire of recieving anything in return. In this way, our ego, and desire are controlled. Seva also brings us compassion which is another virtue of a True Gursikh. Sikhi is about developing pyaar for Vaheguru, allowing our Love for Him to take over and expel our avgun. Vaheguru is the only One that exists not me. Sikhi is about keeping our faith strong in Guru Ji and accepting His Command as true. Sikhi is about being humble, we are mere puppets playing in the Blessed Hands of Vaheguru Ji, what power do we have?
  8. Appearance doesn't matter. If the individuals heart is in the right place then that is the main thing. This girl sounds lovely veerji, she is doing the right thing: seva etc. Such people need encouragement there aren't many people who would even just take a day off work to do seva. She is indeed blessed. This is the essence of Sikhi, having so much pyaar for Vaheguru and the Sangat. This is the definition of a True Gursikh. If you truly love Vaheguru Ji then nothing else matters, it doesn't matter how much facial hair you have, how you look. These are the least prioritised. We are fooled in to thinking that appearance matters more than heart. All Vaheguru Ji can see is the pyaar we have for Him not our appearance. Imagine how Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj feels when He sees His Gursikhs in the Sikh Saroop. This is the definition of a Guru Da Sikh.
  9. When a person becomes a religious leader/representative then he/she becomes the inspiration of many. If there is a non-keshadari Sikh then it will be seen as more acceptable to not keep kesh. This is not right, by keeping kesh we are showing Vaheguru that we accept every single hair on our body as a blessing. So no, it is not right for a non-keshadari to become a representative of Sikhi.
  10. We cannot force others to believe in what we believe in otherwise there is no difference between us and the mughals. At the end of the day, all religions lead us to God and teach us to be good people. Sikhi is just a faster and purer way that cuts out all pakhand and is a straight path but our personal journey into Sikhi has obstacles this may be to test our faith for example. We have been blessed with a beautiful path, the path of Sikhi. If a muslim is a good muslim and prays 5 times a day then he/she is doing the right thing and worshipping God. Same with a hindu. So, answering your question, we have indeed been blessed but so have others to find peace and God in their religion so we should encourage them to pray more and focus etc. This is what Guru Ji teaches us, to be good people and likewise, we should be good Sikhs.
  11. I have seen this a lot, I think that when you go to the gurdwara (or anywhere in general but especially the gurdwara) you should be simple because you are being disrespectful right in front of Guru Ji. Vaheguru Ji has given you a beautiful face, yet you think that you can do a better job by painting your face. This is the nature of humans, we long for what we don't have. Everyone is pretty and beautiful in their own way. We should be thanking Vaheguru for giving us guidance (with Sikhi) in this life yet we waste it by worrying about how we look.
  12. Do you think this is because media brainwashes us to think that lots of makeup is "true beauty"? I think that this is the biggest problem.
  13. They care more about "looking good" tbh
  14. Well, sit down and give it a thought. It's only telling you to be a good person from the inside which motivates others to do goodwill and seva. How can we apply this to a Sikhi perspective? Well, Naam jappo, Kirth Karni and Vand ke Shako. These are the foundations of Sikhi which everything else is built on. The quote promotes that so how is doing anything wrong veerji?
  15. The truth does not have to be subjected to one religion. Hinduism does have some truth in it which is what is mentioned in Sikhi eg: reincarnation, mukhti etc. However, Sikhi is the full truth. Sikhi is about faith, not just worshipping idols. Sikhi starts from within like a seed and the more bhagti and seva we do, the more it blossoms and grows till the fragrance of Sikhi and pyaar is spread within our heart. Sikhi teaches us about righteousness and love and the equality of humanity, whereas Hindu's have been separated by caste. In Sikhi we see no difference between a king and a beggar, a white person and a black person, or a child and an adult. We are all equal and loved by Guru Ji the same.
