  1. Great resource. I used this once and it straight called my name out in the hukamnama.
  2. The fact that we still have these so-called "Sikhs" trying to say Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib isn't the bani of Maharaj is really saddening. I've actually read a posts by some guy saying he doesn't even read the Dasam Granth parts of our 5 banis in the morning.
  3. I swear, Terry "kHaLiStAnI teRrOrIsts" Milewski is literally known for constantly bashing the Sikh community. I'm surprised anyone takes his antics seriously.
  4. Canada's gun laws are very strict. They recently banned ARs. We don't even have stand your ground laws either.
  5. I've known kids who grew up dirt poor, lived in community housing, and went through hell and back still be set on a straight path compared to some of these guys selling drugs who grew up with damn near anything they wanted with a supportive family structure. It's wild to me.
  6. When I say wannabes, it's the way these guys move and talk. It's embarrassing to see. Just from the accent and all.
  7. I've even seen kids with kesh calling others Gyani as well. You're right though, this is a real problem amongst the youth in our community. It's starting to catch on to other communities and people are calling keshdharis gyani.
  8. Right down the middle between the both. Ima keep it gupt for now. But I got a bunch of family in Vancouver. Same things happening in those two cities are happening here.
  9. I would say a vast majority are born and bred with traditional Panjabi values. However, I don't even think I could pinpoint the root cause. I would say that most of these guys are just spoiled. I've seen these guys have strong, respectable, and genuine figures in their lives and still manage to fall into the bakwas. On the flipside, I have also seen people with deadbeats go into the same lifestyle. I've met a few genuine ones and they go on to be really smart and successful people. I feel like most of these homes lack any sort of Sikhi. However, I have also heard stories of young amritdharis involved in drugs and alcohol.
  10. Correct. I know lots of Panjabis alongside families involved in drugs. In fact, I would say a majority are involved in it and just have a better time at hiding it. I guess I was fortunate enough to not live in Panjabi dominated areas, rather, I grew up amongst Blacks, Arabs, and so on. I only really came across other Panjabis and wannabe "gangsters" from that area during my time in high school. However, what@GurjantGnostic stated is true. These guys are trying to prove some sort of manliness that they lack.
  11. Funny thing is that most of these guys come from good homes. BC housing is ridiculous, probably one of the most expensive places to live in Canada. I see similar things in the Panjabi dominated area in the city I live in. These kids get brand new Mercs, BMWs right off the get go. They have very supportive families yet try to pursue some sort of "gangster" persona and sell drugs.
  12. Seems like most of them are shooting up heroin. Also, I heard that most of these drugs are getting laced with fentanyl.
  13. Hence the reason why I believe our Raaj fell in the first place. We strayed away from Sikhi. Not all of the Sikhs during the Misl period were perfect saints. We had some, however, the trends we see today were present there as well. Also, I believe those granths were written during the Raj and towards the end (panth parkash I believe) and Singhs were definitely consuming alcohol at that time. These are some of the reasons why you had groups like the Sant Khalsa who are now the Namdharis.
  14. I would imagine Sikhs believe in it. Udaasi's were always very close to the panth. It's really until the rise of the Brits along with the Singh Sabha that there is a major divide.
  15. This forum post talks about it. Has to do with energy during meditation. https://www.sikhawareness.com/topic/17608-importance-of-tiger-skin-during-meditation/
  16. The person with the blue skin is Baba Sri Chand Ji and the baby was the son of Baba Lakhmi Das Ji, the second son of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. Here is the Sakhi from SikhWiki: Preserving the Family Lineage "Babaji stretches his arm into the sky and brings baby Dharm Chand to earth to save Guru Nanak Dev ji’s lineage. While Babaji himself lived an ascetic life, he not only supported family life, he actually raised the baby Dharm Chand and arranged his marriage One day brother Lakhmi Chand ji had been hunting. Babaji told him it was a sin to kill innocent animals and that he would have to give account in God’s court. Hearing this Baba Lakhmi Chand took his entire household, even the dog, mounted his horse and rode toward Heaven. Baba Siri Chand ji realized that his brother’s baby Dharm Chand was the last descendent of Guru Nanak Dev ji. If the baby left too there would be no one to carry on Guru ji’s blood line. So Baba Siri Chand ji stretched out his arm into the sky, lifted the baby from his brother’s lap, brought him back and raised him as his own son" (SikhiWiki, 2012).
