  2. I've heard that theres some students of Baba Giana Singh Ji still alive who is is mentioned as one of the Gurdevs on the the <banned site filter activated> akhara - im not sure what to call the akhara as it seems to reguarly be changing names. There are Nihang Singhs in India that still know proper shastarvidiya but they dont run an akhara. Best to ask around in the Nihang Dal in India.
  3. I think it might be in Pracheen Panth Parkash, not entirely sure. Theres defo something along that line in there.
  4. "Akali Kaur Singh Nihang" who signed his name as such was an early openent of the Arya Samajists and devoted much time to intelectually countereing their propoganda. Hence your comments that "Akali Nihang" is a Hindu term is bound to lead to confusion, what exactly where you trying to clarify?
  5. 11th Jathedar of Budha Dal. Theres a pic of him on this link: http://www.nihangsingh.org/Army%20of%20One.html

One famous dhadhi jatha made an album recently on the sakhi of Shaheed Bhai Tara Singh Nihang at the request of one of the Tarna Dal jathedars, I heard the tape once havent been able to find it on the internet. Another track that I've heard a few times but not been able to get hold on : "Mera Russay Na Kalgianvala Jug pamay sara rusjavay..." They are sung by different people, but unfortunately I cant remember who the singers are. Any help would be much appreciated. Gurfateh
  8. would it be possible to make a seperate file with just the part about sikhi and put it on youtube or sikh roots?
  9. tbh - sometimes we all think its great to have Sikh taught in schools to make people more aware about Sikhi etc, which is good. However, this kinda stuff happening is inevitable really. Perphaps the consequences outweigh the benefits when sometime we try to promote Sikhi. Theres been a few projects of late with good intentions which have ended up leading to some form of beadbi. i.e. the turbanizer application which was suppoosed to promote the turban. Think about how many sikhs gave shaheedi for us to wear dastars and now you go on that websites and theres pictures of peoples dogs wearing dastars - I hope im not the only one that finds that offensive. While often people do not mean to cause offense look at what we have seeen in recent times: images of Gurus used to promote playing cards and casinos. harimandir sahib being used on promotions for resteraunts and night clubs. Ive also seen people work on Sikh comic characters, while again with good intention - how long before people who dont know about Sikhi decide to write story or comics with Sikh characters?
  10. Im glad everyone has the same views about this. It should be stopped, get your parents involved speak to your teacher, if not that your head teacher. Failing your parents get people from your local Gurdwara or a Sikh organisation to contact the school.

  14. http://uk.youtube.com/user/SinghSabhaCanada I just came across this guys videos and am absolutely disgusted at how these people treat gurbani. Look at their total disrespect they are given to the gutka sahib. Who puts a pencil on a gutka sahib? I have seen other videos of these guys where they shamefull treat Sri Dasam Granth Sahib a book, they treat it with great disrespect by calling it a book, scoring it with pencils scribbling on the pages with pencils etc. Who are these people and who is supporting them? The guy talking is being told what to say by people behind him which can be heard clearly. The youth have made some good videos exposing RSS what are people going to do about these guys? This guy cusses the same Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwale that so many make videos about calls Sant Ji uneducated etc, why has no one done anything to expose these guys? What about panthic.org - they love exposing people have they written on these guys? These people are not only attacking every single maharpursh and Sikh samprdada/jathebandi. But they are also very clearly disrespecting Gurbani. What a bunch of clowns.

  16. The Gurdwara Singhson is referring to is Mata Sahib Devan Gurdwara. Baba Bidhi Chand Dal is most famous for having 2 elephants in their dal. Nihang Singhs still keep hawks as part of their martial heritage as can be seen: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yBWwAFj220c&...re=channel_page Is it only certain kinds of Baaj that only eat meat or is it all of them?
  17. From a socio-political perspective you have the panchayat (panch =5) system where authority was held by 5 elders, this was and still is common practise in Punjab, every village still has a panchayt. From a spiritual perspective you as KZ is mentioned 5 is seen as a very significant number: "Panch Parvan Panch Pardhan Pance Pavai Dareh Maan" "Panch Sukhee Mil Mangal Gaye Anhat Bani Naad Vujaeea" I wouldnt include panj takht in the analysis as Sri Damdama Sahib was only recently declared a takht. Might also have to do with the panj bania that form our nitnem, one piara reads each bani. The panj pyarai names also represent values that Maharaj wanted his Khalsa to have, some people say in turn the values are the direct opposite of the panj chor. As TejiKaur penji said 5 does seem to be a magical number.
