  1. Speaks about all the different agencies and schools of thought and individuals attacking Adi Sri Guru granth sahib ji, dasam bani, bhai gurdas deea varaan... etc. Different organisations attacking differnt bania.
  2. Dr Anurag Singh, Director 'Sikh Itihas Board', SGPC, speaks on the contemporary issues related to Sri Dasam Granth Sahib. (son of Bhao Tarlochan Singh who I believe was a close associate of Bhai Randeer Singh) Mentions history, problems and contemporary descendents of the Bhasauriai ideology. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...ihang&hl=en
  3. http://www.ajitjalandhar.com/20080625/ludhiana.php Very wise words of unity.
  4. Can you tell us anymore about the artists?
  5. Chardi kala thanks for info. If anyone has his Dr Anurag Singhs or any other of Dr Trilochan Singhs family contact details could they please pm me, thanks.
  6. Does anyone have more information on the author Dr Trilochan Singh who was close with bhai randhir singh. Is he still alive, if not does anyone have contact details for his family? thanks in advance.
  7. Great sakhi, a humble benti: it would be great if sangata could give the source when they give sakhian.
  8. YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN YAWN To many opinions, no one is concerned with facts. Stop banging on about your jathebandis kurrehaits, rehatneme and historical granths of shaheedi singhs make it clear chatka and sukha were both consumed and not considered kurrehats!!! Accept the facts, get over it and get on with your life. Just stop trying to see that world and history through the eyes of your jathebandi and see the facts for what they are. No one is trying to justify anything here, history and rehatname of khalsa are there for all to see.
  9. Inconvenient truths Chatanga. Also people should not use results from studies of marijuanaa in the west to comapre to that in East. They are too seperate things, one being refined with chemicals.. i.e. 'skunk' which does have all the negative effects on your brain. Pure sukha (or degh as singhs call it) is different to whats used by people in the west leads to all sorts of problems. People who say they would rather die than disobeying Gurus hukam... well anyone who even remotely studies our history finds references to Singhs eating meat and having cannibas laced drinks. Both are reffered to in the works of Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu shaheed whose family gave many genrations of shaheedia for the panth. If you disagree with its use thats fine, but please dont insults the shaheeds of past by suggesting the went against the very Gurus hukam whom they gave their life for. Giani Thakur Singh gives a good neautral prespective on it. The other point, some people recognise it was used by Singhs for battlefield reasons and Giani Thakur Singh also says Maharajs fauj were allowed to do it which is why the Nihang Singhs do it. You can joke about these traditions all you want. If you are saying these traditions should be abondoned because we are no longer in war... should they put sell their shastar and horses? put away their nishan and nagaray that they have had since the times of their Gurus? They are concerned with preserving these traditions. If you have a problem with it... its your problem, deal with it and dont make out Puratan Singhs are going against Gurus hukam just because they are doing something the head of YOUR JATHEBANDI said your jathebandi cant do.... dont wast your life arguing about it.
  10. That katha is a real eye opener, some great Bachans by Baba Baljinder Singh, words of truth. All Sikhs should take note.
  11. I think WW has made a good recommendation... As Baba Ji is a great learned Sant im sure he would have great answers for sangata. Would be a great seva.
  12. From the same thread on Sikhawareness: Agree with you 100% regarding the mindset thing. Its something I have spoken to sampradai scholars about, its the modern day intelectuals who are leading the pro dasam bani camp despite managing to rally sampradai scholars. I expressed my concerns to some of the sampradai scholars most involved in the pro dasam bani campaign, and they agreed that sometimes academics outwith of sampradava speaking in favour of dasam maharaj lead to more confusion. There have been scholars in past decades from various universities who have written beautifully on the subject. Others just havent been blessed with grasping the complete philosophy., despite knowing the history of dasam bani inside out. A few of the thing I raised with the sampradai vidhvans: - Comments by Dr Harpal Singh Pannu on a tv show speaking in favour of Sri Dasam Guru Granth Sahib being the bani of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji but then going on to say it should be parkash in a seperate room from Sri Guru Adi Granth Sahib Ji. Despite, historical evidence suggesting both granths were parkash along side one another. Such comments create further confusion... All of its bani but not Gurbani...??? - The way some academics like to propogate Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jis rejection of avtars without explaining their significance. Its like saying "Dont worry, we can make this fit your mindset so that you can believe its written by your Guru". Maharaj certainly advocates the worship of Ik-Onkar only, but to simply prepare articles with copy and pasted lines apparently 'cussing' avtars does not do any justice to the masses of writings maharaj wrote regarding the topic of avtarvaad. Understandable that all use the line 'Mai Na Genesai Pritham Manao, Kisan Bisan Kabhoo Nai Dhayaoo', to counter the petty arguement and prove the point such writings could not have been written by a 'Hindu' in a most basic manner for the masses to understand. But if one is going to go to the effort of preparing an article, instead of writing on the 'rejection' of avtaarvad why not clarify the whole topic by writing on the concept of avtarvaad? - The translations academics have made on dasam bani, good effort by them but as one of the 5 Sahiban said to me regarding one of the translators..."If he did not understand he should have asked, he should have had someone check....instead he has misunderstood and mistranslated a lot of important stuff". It is believing ones own mat is adequate to understand it, that grasping the language means you will grasp the philosophy... unfortunately it doesnt usually work like that. Many other small things as well, the last paragraph of Neos post pretty much sums up the situation. Whats point does it prove: Those who want to study gurbani should do so from an ustad with some sort of traceable lineage to Sikhs who learnt Gurbani and Arth from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. There are many such taksals all over India be the Sevapanthi, Taksali, Nihang, Nirmale akhara, many other mahapursh etc... and their students are in most western countries... If your gonna learn path its the best place to start. May maharaj do kirpa. http://www.sikhawareness.com/sikhawareness...&highlight=
  13. Have a ishnan with cold water as instructed in old maryadas, wakes you up proper. Do ardas, recite bani out loud. Its reasons like this why we should try and use a rail for our gutka/pothi sahib when read path, even those who have been doing nitnem for years say you should use a rail, its much more respectful for the pothi sahib.
  14. I thought admins had taken a stance against the nindaks of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Wave your Darshan Lals flag around all you want, speak your nonsense, live your fantasies. But before telling others to open their eyes and speaking ill of the one your Gurus writings, Ask yourself this; Why has Darshan Lal and all other nindaks of dasam bani refused to have a open dialogue after kala afghana had his childhish arguements humbled. People like Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwale, Baba Deep Singh Shaheed etc who believed in the writings of dasam pathshah performed great deeds for the panth. What has kala afghana ever done, the blind being lead by the blind. As I have asked before, how to supporters of Darshan Lal respond to the various facts from the below video? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-37742156909650512
  15. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-37742156909650512 Another one of Giani Jis videos.
  16. I found that leaflet to be a pretty good advert for the Sikh religion lol.
  17. True say, great post. The people who love to question dasam and sarbloh and say it contradicts sri guru adi granth sahib... 99.9% are the ones that have either never taken the time out for a seriours study of gurbani from an ustad, or that think they dont need help in understanding.
  18. Baba Surjit Singh: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chitrakari/402080982/
  19. Kotkapura Nihangs elect Surjit Singh chief; Baba’s bhog peaceful Kulwinder Sandhu Tribune News Service Kotkapura (Faridkot), May 18 Jathedar Surjit Singh was elected the 14th Jathedar of the Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal (Panjwan Takht) with a voice vote in his absence during the antim ardas and bhog of late Baba Santa Singh held at Gurdwara Dasmi Patshahi here today. However, in his absence, Jathedar Joginder Singh “Rakba” will continue as the acting Jathedar of the body. His dastarbandi ceremony was held on the occasion. Jathedar Surjit Singh, who is facing cases of murder, has gone underground. He was allegedly involved in the massacre of four members of Baba Balbir Singh’s family. Balbir heads the rival group of Nihangs. Since a heavy police force was deployed here, Jathedar Surjit Singh could not enter the town fearing arrest. No vehicle was allowed to pass through the road leading to the gurdwara. Nihangs were frisked to prevent entry of firearms into the gurdwara. Talking to The Tribune soon after the “dastarbandi” ceremony, Jathedar Joginder Singh appealed to all groups of Nihangs to unite together and protect the religion that, according to him, was in danger due to the entry of certain “bad elements” in the Panth. He lashed out at the state government alleging that it was trying to divide their community for vested interests. A resolution was passed by various groups of the Sant Samaj, demanding from the state government withdrawal of all cases registered against Jathedar Surjit Singh. They claimed that the police had registered false cases against him. The religious heads of Nirmal Akhara Hardwar, Nanaksar Kaleran, Mastuana, Rarha Sahib, Guru Nanak Dal, Tarna Dal, Baba Bidhi Chand Dal, Damdami Taksal and at least 30 other deras were present on the occasion. Few members of the SGPC, local leaders of the SAD and members of Baba Santa Singh’s family, including nephew Surinder Singh Babbar also attended the bhog. Meanwhile, most of the Nihangs here were of the view that the Nihangs in the days to come may come out aggressively to free their deras that were under the control of the group led by Baba Balbir Singh.
  20. Respect to Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma, He stood up against Badal and went to great efforts to rally all mahapurkhs with Baba Surjeet Singh and Baba Joginder Singh? Badal and SGPC have now declared Ram Singh as the official head of Damdami Taksal at the program held by Balbir Singh as Baba Harnam Singh refused to attend and supported Baba Joginder Singh. They pretty much said at the samagam because Baba Harnam Singh dhumma didnt do what badal wanted they are now supporting Ram Singh. What right do they have in determining who the jathedar of Guru jis taksal is? http://www.***anti-sikh website not allowed***/fullpage.as...=19&pview=3

  22. Baba Santa Singhs bhog was today and the Panth again asked Baba Joginder Singh to be jathedar. He took dastar bandi for karaj karri jathedar but maintained 14th Jathedar of Budha shoud be Baba Surjeet. So the panth decided baba surjeet singh to be 14th jathedar and baba joginder singh to run affairs in the meantime. Around 50,000 sangata present at the event, all jathebandis nanaksar, rara sahib, damdami taksals, various nimrale sants, sant smaj and all nihang singh jathebandi etc were present and confirmed Baba Surjeet Singh as head, various leaders said that Balbir Singh has falsely had their jathebandis name written in newspapers stating they supporting balbir singh. It appears bablirs only support is badal, BJP and SGPC; http://www.tribuneindia.com/2008/20080518/punjab.htm Chardi kala day for the panth. All jathebandi uniting with mahapursh. Lets hope it sets the tone for more ekta in the future.
