  2. Dubai/UAE is only bright on the surface. In reality, these countries rest on mountains of human tragedies. 3. I don't understand why Panjabis/Sikhs risk their lives to go to these countries. I know Panjab has its issues but its definitely better than these places. 4. Some recent news regarding fertility rates https://thelogicalindian.com/trending/fertility-rate-declining-in-all-communities-steepest-in-the-muslim-community-35476 Total Fertility Rate Falls In All Communities, Steepest Decline Among Muslims: NFHS Data Writer: Shashwat Swaroop Garg India, 10 May 2022 10:18 PM In the new NFHS report, the overall fertility rate of India has fallen below the replacement level of two children per woman. Data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that the country's overall fertility rate has declined. The Muslim community is said to have the steepest decline out of all the religious communities over the past two decades. The Muslim community's fertility rate declined from 2.6 in 2015-2016 to 2.3 in 2019-2021. While, all the communities have shown a noticeable decline in their fertility rates, which in turn contributes to a drop in the total fertility rate of the country, the decline has been the steepest in the Muslim community, going from 4.4 in NFHS 1 (1992-93) to 2.3 in NFHS 5 (2019-21). The fertility rate of the Muslim community is the highest among all religious communities. The Muslim community has faced two accelerated declines in the community fertility rate. The first decline occurred between 1992-93 and 1998-99, while the second decline occurred between 2005-06 and 2015-16, when the rate dropped by 0.8 points. In a data report by The Indian Express, the current fertility rates of the religious communities in NFHS 5 are as follows: The Muslim Community has a fertility rate of 2.3, with the Hindu community following at 1.94 in NFHS 5. The Christian community has a fertility rate of 1.88, the Sikh community at 1.61, the Jain community at 1.6 and the Buddhist and neo-Buddhist community at 1.39—the lowest rate in the country.Fertility Gap Between Two Communities Poonam Muttreja, who is the Executive Director of the Population Foundation of India, an NGO, said, "The fertility gap between Hindus and Muslims is narrowing. High fertility is mostly a result of non-religious factors such as levels of literacy, employment, income and access to health services. The current gap between the two communities is because of Muslims' disadvantage on these parameters." She further said that over the past few decades, an emerging Muslim middle class has been realising the value of girls' education and family planning.

  7. Pakistani Panjabi film industry is so much worse than the east Panjab with rampant vulgarity in lyrics and costume. Even Pakistanis called out directors for the vulgar content in their films and told them to follow good east ones. Caste based titles for films were first popular in Pakistan such as Gujjar Badmash, Ziddi Rajput, Maula Jatt etc. The east Panjab film industry also began copying elements of Pakistani films such as these titles.

  10. Thank you for replying. I got a few more questions 1. That Masjid built for Moran still exists, how do we know it's a myth and Maharaja Ranjit Singh didn't get it built? The Maharaja at Moran's request, built a mosque called as Masjid-e-Tawaifan, which was renamed in 1998 as Mai Moran Masjid in Lahore. This is located in Lahore's bazaar now called Pappar Mandi near Shah Almi Gate. 2. Why did some of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Hindu wives commit Sati upon his death if they became Sikh through marriage? Eyewitness record of Maharaja Ranjit Singhs personal physician
  11. Did Moran adopt Sikhi after marriage to Maharaja Ranjit Singh? Did Maharaja Ranjit Singh build a Masjid (Masjid-e-Tawaifan) for her before their marriage or after? Deeply spiritual, Moran had a spiritual guide called Mian Jaan Mohammad of Laverian, who told her that a madrasa would benefit more people than a masjid. Manveen describes how Moran was instrumental in setting up a school for Persian and Arabic studies for students who would be spared the trouble of travelling all the way to Persia. 12. Dubai-based NGO offers AAP govt to facilitate FDI into Punjab Yudhvir Rana / TNN / Apr 19, 2022, 12:03 IST AMRITSAR: A Dubai-based industrialist has offered the Punjab govt for facilitating foreign direct investment (FDI) into the state especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set up industries and create job opportunities for the Punjabi youth who spend lakhs of rupees and often fall prey to the dubious agents for getting their dream jobs. Joginder Singh Salaria, founder of Dubai-based PCT Humanity (Pehal Charitable Trust-Humanity) informed that he felt pity on seeing the struggle of parents of Punjabi youth who did everything in their hands including selling their houses, liquidating their fixed deposits, and even borrowing money on huge interests, only to send their children to UAE for their dream jobs. Claiming that PCT-Humanity helps on an average a thousand Punjabi youth in getting jobs in UAE every year, Joginder said “The first priority of the Punjabi youth is to move to Canada, Australia, US, UK or in the European nations for which their parents shell out anything around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh and those who can’t afford they prefer to spend anything around Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh for a job in UAE” . He said there were several examples of Punjabi educated youth doing manual jobs after failing to get jobs in European destinations. “Many of such youth are here working as masons, plumbers, fitters, etc.” he added. ... https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/amritsar/dubai-based-ngo-offers-aap-govt-to-facilitate-fdi-into-punjab/articleshow/90929921.cms
  13. New issues will begin emerging. Kidnapping of females is widespread in Pakistans Panjab. Those from minority faiths are particularly targeted. These incidents will start occurring in east Panjab too. Where are Punjab’s missing daughters? The report brought to the fore a disturbing figure of 40,585 women having been abducted between 2017 and January 2022 from all 36 districts of Punjab. The police claimed to have recovered or traced 37,140 of them. They have also arrested 53,459 suspects, while 12,374 others are still at large. Pakistan: Scores of women abducted in Punjab between 2017 and January 2022 Islamabad [Pakistan], February 28 (ANI): Many women continue to be held against their will, living in misery and humiliation with no hope of rescue in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Punjab: Christian woman forced to convert and marry her kidnapper Mariam Gill was abducted on her way home from the market. Her father and brother filed a complaint with police, which failed to intervene however because her kidnapper is “a respectable Muslim businessman”. A Muslim religious leader says the action was in accordance with Islamic law. Islamabad bishop warns that cases of forced conversion are “rising at an alarming rate”. Teenage Hindu girl's kidnapping sparks protest in Pakistan's Punjab A teenage Hindu girl's kidnapping by an "influential" Muslim man in Pakistan's Punjab province sparked outrage among the minority community that held a sit-in on Thursday. Holding placards and banners, the community members at Rahim Yar Khan, some 400-km from Lahore, were demanding the recovery of 17-year-old Naina and chanting slogans against forced conversions.
  14. Marriages between cousins, maternal uncles and nieces are prevalent in some south Indian communities. Some theories to explain the practice https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/marrying-first-cousins-how-practice-evolved-and-declined-kerala-138540 Historian MG Sasibhooshan suggests several possibilities, considering the social situation of ancient times. “Elamkulam Kunjan Pillai (late historian and academic) suggested a theory that such marriages could have evolved in primitive societies when men mostly went to war and found it difficult to find alliances from circles beyond the immediate family. The practice was followed by Hindus and Muslims, by people in Tamil Nadu and even in Sri Lanka,” Sasibhooshan says. He puts forth another theory: Kerala was made of really small kingdoms once upon a time, each fighting one another and possibly not wishing to have marriage alliances with each other. This possibly limited the choice of finding a partner to immediate family circles. “Yet another possibility is that in the old days, people would not look for marriage alliances beyond a certain river that functioned as a sort of physical boundary. Take Korapuzha river in Kerala’s northern district of Kozhikode, for example. Families considered it beneath their dignity to form any relationship with members south of the river. But, there were rule-breakers, like VK Krishna Menon’s (late Indian politician and ally to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru) father Krishna Kurup, whose marriage to a woman in the south of Malabar was something of a rebellion back in the 19th century,” Sashibhooshan says. Why such marriages declined over years Over the years, the practise of marrying cousins declined drastically, says Sashibooshan. It could perhaps have links to the many studies revealing that marriage between blood relations can cause health problems and genetic disorders in the offspring. A 2013 story in The Hindu mentions a detailed study involving 11,000 children from consanguineous marriages. The revealed congenital anomalies in 386 such children. This was double the number of children with anomalies born to parents who were not related by blood. Kerala, with its literacy rate increasing through the decades, very possibly took these studies seriously while considering marriages with cousins. It is still not completely absent and even among newer generations, there are willing cousins marrying each other, as a practice handed down through generations.

The men were reportedly attacked near the corner of Lefferts Boulevard and 95th Avenue — the same spot where the 70-year-old was punched in the face by a stranger on April 3. Local community members shared details of today’s assault on Instagram. The NYPD, however, was unable to confirm the assault by the time of publication. Sikh community leaders in Richmond Hill condemned the assault and called it an act of hatred. “This is the exact fear we had when this happened last week,” Japneet Singh, local community leader and a candidate for State Senate, wrote on Instagram. “Same location, same intersection, same act of HATE.’ Singh posted a video showing the apparent aftermath of the assault. One man can be seen holding his eye and another is sitting on the sidewalk surrounded by police officers and firefighters. The two men were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment and are in good spirits, according to Singh. Singh said the Sikh community — many of whom call Richmond Hill home — is being targeted and called on state and city leaders to address the issue. “This is disgusting behavior, and it’s clear the Sikh community is being deliberately targeted,” he wrote. “Calling on @govkathyhochul @nycspeakeradams @nycmayor @queensdakatz to address this ASAP!’ Police are investigating the assault last week as a hate crime and have released photos of the suspect in that case. It’s unclear if the same person is responsible for both attacks. One person has been arrested in connection to Tuesday’s attack, Singh said.
  16. Yeah I've heard about it too. During the Bengal famine of 1943, there were no reported cases although tens of millions of villagers suffered from acute hunger.
  17. It's definitely a possibility because such incidents have occurred throughout history. Especially when there were shortages of food or no food at all, people resorted to extremes for survival. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_incidents_of_cannibalism

Nirmal Singh, 70, was walking to the Sikh Cultural Society Temple at 6:45 a.m.and was in the vicinity of Lefferts Boulevard and 95th Avenue, when his assailant snuck up from behind him and allegedly sucker-punched him in the face in the unprovoked assault, before running off in an unknown direction, police said. Following the attack, Singh was found roaming around the Gurdwara with blood on his face and jacket, community leader Japneet Singh told QNS. Singh, who was wearing traditional Sikh articles of faith, was transported by private means to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken nose, cuts and severe bruising on his face and an injured wrist, and released, according to the NYPD. The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force. The suspect is described as an adult man with a dark complexion and an average build. He was last seen wearing black sneakers, jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt. Nirmal, who is visiting New York for the first time on a tourist visa from Canada, was afraid to report the incident to the police fearing that he would be deported. “This man was new to our country,” state Senator James Sanders said. “He had only been here for two weeks and this is not the type of welcome we want people to think occurs when they visit our country or community. I condemn this shameful attack, which is being investigated as a hate crime, and hope that the perpetrator is brought to justice.” Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
